I have had the Mini 3 Pro for a while now and I like it a lot when I don't want attention and the wind is low. I tried the Avata just this week and sent it back today.I hate wearing goggles and not knowing what's going on around me. I hooked it up to my iPad Mini but had a tough time telling which direction it was headed using line of sight. I had the camera pointed at my car and pushed the stick forward to fly it back to my car and it went to the right, into a tree! I was done at that point.
Man I’ve been waiting for someone to do this exact video! I was about to upgrade my Mavic Mini to the Mini 3 Pro when the Avata came out, and this helped a lot to confirm what I kind of suspected. I think the Mini 3 Pro has so many features that I’d use a lot, and the Avata would be more for fun. But I still want both 😫😫😫🤦🏼♂️

Transmission can be an issue with obstructions but hands down, if you want to get into an easy to fly FPV its hard to do better than the Avata. Taking all that into consideration..... buy both.

I telling you what happen to me I bought the DJI fpv about a month ago on Best Buy, today I went to fly with a motion control, the drone just acts to wired and went totally out of control hit my building and fall to the ground, it has only scratches nothing broken this thing are durable, but the back right side motor was over hitting a lot and smel burned, greb the drone took back to Best Buy returned and got the mini 3 pro with a RC controller
I’m thinking of upgrading my air 2s to the magic 3, however I’m on the fence about buying the Avata and not upgrading the air 2s. Any help here would be appreciated!
Question regarding the RC controller vs phone... Does the DJI Fly app on the RC controller ever crash? I have RC-N1 and iPhone, and today the DJI Fly app crashed and I had to relaunch it. No huge deal, the drone just sat there waiting for me to come back. But in the wrong situation it could have been worse. Relaunching the app went right back to camera mode, but had to be messed with a minute before the control icons came back, at first it was just the camera view. So, does the RC controller app ever crash? It's based on Android. If so does it recover easily?
Yes you can look straight down in the Avata but the airframe comes in to view at the bottom of the screen. You can crop it out. Through the goggles while flying you see a lot more airframe looking down. If you want true trouble free straight down birds eye view, then get the mini 3.
Something about the Avada… the picture looks bad sometimes. Maybe it’s TH-cam’s compression with fast changing scenes or digital sharpening but it looks like an iPhone video
One question which didn't come up in the movie was the noise... I own a mini 3 pro as my first drone and am thinking of adding an avata, but the noise of it seems to make it a no-go to fly near where I live... Guess it will really annoy the neighbours.
@@RobHK lol. I'm sorry if you misinterpreted my question. I am facing the same issue on some occasions when flying my drone. And I notice the foreground has this stuttering effect and isn't smooth.
@@vegardmandal626 I totally hear that point on video, but you are wrong. Indeed it could have been used and be king for both. DJI intentionally (would have cost them ZERO) omitted RAW to keep it from impinging on their cinematic drones. LAME.

Fpv goggles is for fpv and The original dji goggles, meh. Freestyle?? Mi3P is a standard drone….. freestyle on mi3p is left right up down. Seems like you should go for custom fpv instead😅
Idk where you live, but think you need to check the rules again. Here its required for anything which is not C0. If you have a camera sub 250, registration is a must. Above 250. License is a must if you’re flying outside of your own property. License is only $20 and easy to obtain.
If you're an experienced FPV pilot, get the Mini 3 Pro because you're likely going to be flying something better. If you're a noob FPV pilot, also get the Mini 3 Pro because you're going to crash the DJI Avata and won't be able to repair it.
The Avata is surprisingly tough. I bought it with zero experience and with the motion controller it’s almost impossible to kill. Ofc in manual acro mode with the other controller… whole different story 😁 Good luck!
Actually Avata is the most durable and the most repairable DJI drone ever, basicly its a DJI O3 FPV system in a frame made by DJI, only hard part to find is the "main frame" thats between the upper frame and the propeller quards, i got my Avata 9 months ago and i Will have a Mini 3 pro in a few days...

Do u like the djj avata or the mini 3 pro the most??
Depends on where i am
Question regarding the RC controller vs phone... Does the DJI Fly app on the RC controller ever crash? I have RC-N1 and iPhone, and today the DJI Fly app crashed and I had to relaunch it. No huge deal, the drone just sat there waiting for me to come back. But in the wrong situation it could have been worse. Relaunching the app went right back to camera mode, but had to be messed with a minute before the control icons came back, at first it was just the camera view. So, does the RC controller app ever crash? It's based on Android. If so does it recover easily?
So we cannot make vertical reels with the avata ?
Hi, did you upgrade antenas in gogglesnfor avata? …for better range
Another great video :-) Are there any LUTs for the avata yet på fcpx?
They’re still in development with the Mini 3 LUTs ^^ another week or two i guess 😃
Who win?
Can the Avata take photos directly below it while it hovers?
that's what I came here for😂😂.... still tryna find my answer
Yes you can look straight down in the Avata but the airframe comes in to view at the bottom of the screen. You can crop it out. Through the goggles while flying you see a lot more airframe looking down. If you want true trouble free straight down birds eye view, then get the mini 3.
Can I take still photos of properties but turning the camera down like the mavic with avata?
You can, but will have visible propguards.
Where can I get a license from
To much flickering on DJI Avata footage! It's something that bothers me
I guess I should get both!
Something about the Avada… the picture looks bad sometimes. Maybe it’s TH-cam’s compression with fast changing scenes or digital sharpening but it looks like an iPhone video
I buy both :)
Good Content !! I just got oe. I will be uploading videos with the DJI Mini 3 Pro!
The nikklas captions and titles cab be used in final cut too?
Idk.. i make my own stuff
@@RobHK 🤷🏽♂️😂
?
Why does Avata footage looks muddy in comparison to mini? Like, Mini to me looks much sharper and more detailed.
you solved all my dilemmas 😎
One question which didn't come up in the movie was the noise... I own a mini 3 pro as my first drone and am thinking of adding an avata, but the noise of it seems to make it a no-go to fly near where I live... Guess it will really annoy the neighbours.
If you have bad neighbors. Avata is not the drone to get 😅
how do you transmit live image from goggles to an iphone?
Connect the phone to the goggles and open the dji fly app :)
Why not have both
Watch the video
can someone tell me what is the difference betwen smart combo and pro view combo?
Goggles and price
@@RobHK so is it worth to buy the more expensive or i should be ok with the smart combo ?
If Avata's video camera is good, then why do I keep seeing flyers mounting Go Pros on top of them?
Great video. I just Purchas both drones, so I'm new the he game
Awesome🤙😎 you’ll have tons of fun!
Both drones my best bet:)
Why is the footage looking like it is stuttering? Especially the foreground.
Dont blink so much
@@RobHK lol. I'm sorry if you misinterpreted my question. I am facing the same issue on some occasions when flying my drone. And I notice the foreground has this stuttering effect and isn't smooth.
😅 add optical flow, problem solved
I think it’s probably shutter speed as you are not seeing any motion blur. Nd filter will solve this.
Of course it is 😃 can’t wait till I receive mine. Gonna be so smooth
NIce shots
Mini 3 pro is the clear winner here.
Both
If only there's available goggles for the mini series for the fpv mode
There might be in the future. 🤷♂️
I almost pulled the trigger on the Avata. Loved what I saw, then...
I found out it does NOT shoot RAW. A major mistake by DJI.
You wouldnt buy the Avata to take still photos, anyway? Its a FPV drone, video is King!
And for video it uses 150 Mbps and D-Cinelike, so it's pretty good at it.
@@vegardmandal626 I totally hear that point on video, but you are wrong.
Indeed it could have been used and be king for both. DJI intentionally (would have cost them ZERO) omitted RAW to keep it from impinging on their cinematic drones. LAME.
@@graphguy You wouldnt be able to take any photos with this drone that you cant do better with a Mavic. And lets be honest, if they have made a perfect photo and video and FPV drone in one package - why would they ever sell another Mini 3?
@@vegardmandal626 for 50 reasons. To start with .... obstacle avoidance, follow-me, etc etc. But that was my whole point the ONLY reason they did it was to keep their market segments seperate. But no RAW was a mistake... it is not like they don't take photos, they do... but lossy JPEGS.
My Motion Graphics Pack is now available at the cheapest price!
robhkvlogs.com/motiongraphics/
I have both :D, and a mini 2 too
Got the mini 3 pro last month and have just ordered the avata. Can’t wait to try it out, I’m already registered I had to do it for my mavic air
So what are your thoughts about the avata?
@rodrick962 it's hard to fly and a gimmick and losses signal way to easy.
My answer is b
Is the license a mandatory thing or you’re just saying that
If you want to follow the rules, ye. But countries have different rules for weight, distance, height etc. check your country’s uav info to be sure
Question: Mini Pro 3 with Googles vs Avata? Which one is more dynamic for freestyle, please
Fpv goggles is for fpv and The original dji goggles, meh. Freestyle?? Mi3P is a standard drone….. freestyle on mi3p is left right up down.
Seems like you should go for custom fpv instead😅
avata looks more interesting for me. it's a different experience using a vr goggles
Apple vs. Orange
You don't need a license to fly any of those drones you just need to register them. You must be talking about a ham radio license
Idk where you live, but think you need to check the rules again. Here its required for anything which is not C0. If you have a camera sub 250, registration is a must. Above 250. License is a must if you’re flying outside of your own property.
License is only $20 and easy to obtain.
Non... Have you not heard Winter is coming.
Can u please give one drone for me
If you're an experienced FPV pilot, get the Mini 3 Pro because you're likely going to be flying something better.
If you're a noob FPV pilot, also get the Mini 3 Pro because you're going to crash the DJI Avata and won't be able to repair it.
true!!
It’s DJI not DGI
Ure wrong
When using FPV goggles, you also need a second person as an observer, if you want to fly legally.
...uh...where?
@@Shinzon23 Europe at least..
EASA rules:
"FPV drone on your own - freestyle…. You need a ‘visual observer’ to ensure safety."
@@Shinzon23 .. and I found it is like that in the US also..
"The rules regarding the use of an observer in the UK and US are practically identical - it’s the exact wording of the rules that differs slightly.
In both countries, when using an FPV drone or FPV goggles, a drone pilot must be assisted by an observer to help them keep the drone away from obstacles and other aircraft."
@@oljobo hmm. Didn't see that when I checked the rules up here in Canada.
@@Shinzon23 I became curious… and found it (for Canada)
Canadian Aviation Regulations (SOR/96-433)
Use of First-person View Devices
901.38 No pilot shall operate a remotely piloted aircraft system using a first-person view device unless, at all times during flight, a visual observer performs the detect and avoid functions with respect to conflicting aircraft or other hazards beyond the field of view displayed on the device.
18 minutes of flight time ? it must be some joke.. It was to improve for more time and it comes with less time than mini 3 pro..
