The music in this video is maddening!
Hi Greg,
First off, full disclosure, I work for the SS paint company. If you're looking for a mirror polished finish, then the paint won't work for you - because it's more of a brushed satin finish. It's made with 100% SS mixed into a clear polyurethane so it won't fingerprint. I coated my dishwasher with it three years ago and it's been nick and scratch free - and that's with two kids putting it through some pretty tough tests. After I painted it, my in-laws thought we'd bought a new one
If the application is as easy as it looks in the video and the results are as seamless, this looks like a promising and affordable way to update a kitchen until one can save up for higher end appliances. I can see this being really useful in a workshop/garage/manage as well.
Hi Deb - This is Tim Haas - I work for the company - I was the first to try the product six years ago on my fridge - which is used in the above video - It is a typical "textured" white fridge - The stainless steel paint will not remove the texture - it will just change the color of the finish - The smell of the paint is comparable to a typical water based wall paint - and it dries in about 30 minutes. It took me about 8 hours to paint my fridge, range and dishwasher - which are in the vid Tim
What about the white textured handles? Will it paint those too?
Great video! I was about to buy the rustoleum, but this seems much better... And thank you for getting me updated on the foam brush... I can use that when I do the second coat for my counter... yay!
if usrd on a range the burners in time will become bronzed in color and in some cases will crak and peel, this can happen in actual stainless steel ranges only without the cracking and peeling, it does do well with the hood of the range if you have a vent at the top. The stainless steel paint for refrigerators works really well though.
Good, now show this to the people on those HGTV shows who are always complaining about houses without stainless steel appliances.
So many people saying it looks cheap and blah blah blah...it works when you don't have the funds to buy brand new SS appliances. But I would put on a high shine gloss and paint the handles black so everything looks a bit more realistic.
omg, i'm blown away...i just need to get this for our kitchen remodeling
Just letting y'all know, if you want to turn your fridge stainless steal, just use Peel n Stick stainless steel adhesive paper
Bet. Bc I cam to comments to find out if i could change it back.

when he said garbage can, i thought he was gonna say the dog next.
I liked the step-by-step detail - and the fact I don't have to take my refrigerator outside to spray paint it. I'd like to see some creative painting jobs using these products - maybe Stainless Steel with some line work embellishments or chalk board side panels. and YES, the music was WAY TOO LOUD. I did appreciate the details though, most don't even mention priming or handles or taping or tools needed. Nice!
I think I am going to try this on my fridge first and see how it goes. Thanks!
Seems like the perfect time of yr to do this. It's cold enough to put your food outside for a while here in New England. lol
Hi - I work for the company - and yes - you may spray the paint with a professional sprayer - such as conventional, airless, air assisted airless, air brush, or HVLP system with the proper tip and nozzle. Your tip should be sized to accommodate a 35 micron piece of stainless. If needed, you may dilute the paint up to 3% by volume with water. Please note - a sprayed stainless paint finish is less bright than the brushed finish because the sprayer broadcasts the stainless particles randomly.
great! love the music too ! nice info thanks so much
Hi Monica - This is Tim Haas and I work for the company - That is my textured fridge in the video - but some of the close up shots were taken from another fridge because we needed more footage depicting the application - and the surface of that fridge happened to be smooth - To answer your question - yes - I first painted the side of my fridge which was against the wall - because my wife and I weren't sure how it was going to look - After the second coat - we liked it and continued the rest
Totally unnecessary and obnoxious music track. Take it off. It will improve your presentation 100%.
Lorenzo Fernandez I agree!
Ditto! Did they actually run the video before releasing it?? I wanted to mute it but you need to listen to what the presenter is saying.
I agree.
TAKE IT OFF NOW! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! IT HAS SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! TAKE IT OFF NOW ! ! ! ! ! ! ! THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING ⚠️ TAKE IT OFF ⚠️ NOW ⚠️- TAKE OFF THE MANS VOICE SPEAKING TAKE OF THE THE VERBAL VOICE - WE CAN NOT ENJOY THE MISIC WITH ALL OF THE TALKING- TAKE IT OFF NOW !
13 years later at 2am I get recommended this 🤔 what is being said behind my back online about my kitchen?
This guy keeps talking over the music. It's really annoying.
We haven't experience UV fading yet of the stainless steel coating after a period of five years. However, we would be concerned about an application in which rain or snow might pool and set the coating for an extended period of time, because long-term submersion in liquid will affect the coating's adhesion.
Yes you can as long as you use the appropriate primer - topcoat - and spray equipment - We've had people who have used the Liquid Stainless to paint the rear facia of their DeLorean - It's not a dead match for the DeLorean's specific Grade of stainless or its mill finish - but it was close enough to work for them
Thank you
@ninphous Hi - you may use a HVLP sprayer - although most people use the roller and brush that's included in the Fridge Kit because it's quicker - easier - and provides a brushed satin stainless steel finish -
If you have an HVLP sprayer - then your tip should be sized to accommodate a 35 micron piece of stainless steel. You may dilute the Liquid Stainless Steel up to three percent by volume with water. Let us know if you have any further questions Tim
Hi CrystalKid, once rust begins it must be removed because it will continue to oxidize, even with a coating over it. After you remove the rust and apply a good metal primer, you may consider applying Thomas' stainless steel over your entire distiller - as it's not designed for stainless touch-ups because of the numerous grades of stainless used. Please verify that your distiller surface temperature doesn't exceed the 325F temperature threshold of the Thomas' SS coating.
Hi Beatsby - you may use Liquid Stainless on a gas range top - but as with all stainless steel range tops - Liquid Stainless will also experience an oxidation - or a bronzing around each burner because of the high heat reflected from the cookware -
i hate watching videos like this, the music and the lack of extraneous detail made it easier to watch.
Yes you can Rojo - You'll have to use a professional sprayer such as a conventional airless, air assisted airless, air brush, or HVLP system with the proper tips and nozzles on the gun. Your tips should be sized to accommodate a 35 micron piece of stainless steel. You can dilute the Liquid Stainless Base Coat with water up to three percent by volume
Hi - we are aware of two customers who have used the Liquid Stainless to paint parts of their Delorean - not the whole car - The customers used an appropriate automotive grade primer - professional spray equipment and an appropriate topcoat - From pictures I saw I'd say the Liquid Stainless matched okay with the Delorean's original stainless - It wasn't a dead match - but it was fairly close - And the customers seemed satisfied - Hope the info helps -
I would spray paint instead go long strokes and go a lil at a time until it's all down shake can well and have good ventilation
i'm sorry but this is freakin HILARIOUS
never believe anything in 240p
FeedThe Trollz And never believe a stupid comment.
Right
Yes - and we have an updated video and before and after pictures on our website for you to receive additional perspective of the stainless coating. The new information can be viewed at LiquidStainlessSteel - Have a good one Tim
Do you have a version of this video without music playing? I can hardly hear the man's voice.
@crazydavemma Hi Dave - it may be used on a motor bike with the appropriate primer. Not sure what a fiberglass fairing is. If you need something for an industrial application - you may consider a company in WA called Burke Industrial Coatings because they make stainless steel paints for food processing plants. The color is dull and gray - but it is very functional finish.
Hi Datzfast,
Because of the environmental pressures placed on the automotive industry over the last two decades, they are making water-based polyurethanes that can be cleaned up with water
I'm gonna use this and paint my car stainless steel lol
Beautiful!!
This is amazing
Liquid Stainless is a satin stinless finish because it's made with 316 grade stainless steel particles - When we were developing the product - we took large coated sheets of it to appliance stores and placed it right next to stainless appliances - We discovered there isn't a universal stainless color because our finish was identical to some stainless appliances and not even close on others. Bottom line for me - my kitchen looks more updated with the Liquid Stainless finish than my old colors
@utterbullspit I agree - that would provide another option to a lot of people who want to update their kitchens
@KJwatchin Agreed. Its a great idea, but to paint the obviously plastic handles steel looks kinda cheesy..
@mholdr Yes - I've used it on my stove top about five years ago and it's held up well - However - your top - like mine - will 'bronze' around the burners - which is a common characteristic of stainless steel tops because of the high heat that's deflected off of the pans onto the metal
Man, turn the music off or greatly reduce the volume! This is supposed to be a learning tool, not a lesson in nightclubbing. Loud music too annoying to endure the video!!!!!
This is my first time seeing this, and would like to do the project. Where can I find the project kit.
As long as you use the appropriate primer first, and apply the Liquid Stainless with an airless, air assisted airless, air brush, or an HVLP sprayer with the proper tips and nozzles - you should be fine. Your spray tips should be sized for a 35 micron piece of stainless steel. Dilute up to 3% by volume with water -
A brushed finish may be achieved by 'back brushing' with our foam brush after spraying. Multiple thin coats are optimal Test first to ensure the finish is acceptable.
If you have the right equipment - HVLP sprayer - then spraying can be effective from a project time perspective - But on the other hand - spraying doesn't impart a brushed stainess steel finish - which I believe is more attractive - To me the sprayed finish looks more flat- while the brushed finish has more of a satin luster - Brushing doesn't require moving the items to another location or masking to protect from overspray - and it can be done by the beginning painter - Depends on your goal
We agree if you're applying a non-stainless color because spraying creates a more uniform finish. However, if you prefer the stainless finish, then spraying isn't optimal because it orientates the stainless particles randomly - which causes greater diffusion in their reflectivity - and mimimizes their lustre - We've found brushing the stainless on with an 11" wide foam brush is ideal becuse the brushing process orients the partlcles in one dirction creating more relectivity and shine

Turn down the dang music
I don't mean to come down on this product but it doesn't really look like stainless steal it simply looks like someone has painted their appliances simply....grey
it doesn't have the same "shine" that stainless steel has. I definitely agree with you, it looks like grey metallic paint
Not all stainless is glossy..in fact the newer stuff is satin and not high gloss. My new Range is satin..I was looking for a paint that would do a satin stainless.
April R I think it looks really good. Of course it will not look like an original stainless STEEL (steel spelt properly, not STEAL)appliance. If your refrigerator is still in good working order, it's a great alternative to saving your refrigerator from landfill. If on the other hand you have more money than sense, then go ahead & waste your money on an appliance that simply looks grey too.
Heather Bannon Stainless steel satin finish appliances are meant to shine like a gloss finish. It's a great alternative to tossing a perfectly good refrigerator that's still in great working order. Landfill has enough crap as it is. This is a great idea. But if you're that fussing then go ahead & part with $1,000 plus for a new refrigerator that looks very similar at a glance.
Stainless has a texture difference. You can see the haze/brush of stainless at certain angles.
Be sure to apply the clear top coat in the same direction as the stainless steel" What?? The stainless steel went on in 2 coats, one was up, the other was down.
So by "direction" do you mean like vertically vs horizontally?
most bodyshops would spray appliances for you, it would be less streaky.
It looks totally cheezy on cabinets and appliances. It just looks like silver paint... no grain, no texture. Almost like the silver paint you get a model car building kit.
Looks like aluminium paint.
This video was made back in 2007...so....
Wondering if anyone has tryed this, did it work, how long did it take, what about the vapors/smell? Did you need ventilation while using it and drying time? Did the surface have to be smooth?
Was it easy to do, and would you recommend it?
I was thinking about doing my frig, but it's not a smooth surface...it's the rigged kind.
Thanks!
He says in the video that it is a brushed stainless appearance.
can you paint a car with this ?
you know to make it look like a Delorean car with a stainless steel Finish?
and if so would it last and be a durable paint job for a car?
what about a gas cooktop....??? will it hold up to heat? thanks.
We just re-did our kitchen and all of our appliances are SS except for the dishwasher. Would like to keep it for a year or 2 as it is working well but need to give it the SS look. Thoughts on paint vs. plastic film?
Very cool product...looks pretty easy. I had a hard time watching the video though because of the background music which really was not background. I found it so annoying, I couldn't wait for it to be over.
I completely agree, Cynthia. The music was very distracting!
great music, where can I get it from
😂😂😂😂😂😂😊😂
Will it work on glass because my oven has a glass front and its white
This is an old video,,,,,can this product to paint with still be bought. I want to do a stove and was going to buy a smooth top like I have now but bad reviews on the smooth tops now.
Do you spray the rubber?
i kinda wonder if this stuff would actually work on a car since they said it is automotive grade.
@Belladupri So I've heard - In reality you don't have to take your food out of your fridge - I just cracked my doors open about an inch while I painted and about two hours after and the food in the fridge stayed ok
That stove just looks like an old outdated stove that someone painted silver
Looks like an infomercial from the 80's..
Is it safe to use on countertops? All of my appliances are black and my countertops are currently a hideous brown Formica and I thought having a stainless steel look would update the look of my kitchen. I'm concerned about food safety and being able to clean food messes appropriately. Thanks.
Hi Sasha- we don’t typically recommend Liquid Stainless for tabletops because it’s a single color - which inherently may cause any potential future blemish to stick out like a sore thumb.
However, a brushed satin stainless top is beautiful - and if you elect to go the stainless route - then we’ve attached the optimal application method for you - The only updates to the attached Instructions are as follows:
-prep your Formica table Top by cleaning them with “SOS” as opposed to a “degreaser”
- apply Giani IronCore Primer prior to using the liquid stainless steel
- and allow the first coat of Topcoat to dry for “four” hours instead of “one” hour. We recommend using the Giani Granite Topcoat instead of the liquid stainless steel topcoat. The Giani topcoat is non toxic and safe for incidental food contact- use a mild soap/water mixture for cleanup- never use harsh chemical cleaners on Giani.
In order to create a Liquid Stainless top which covers approximately 35 square feet - you will need to purchase the following items to create the Kit . . .
· One can of Gianni IronCore Primer at www.gianigranite.com/DetailMineralsAccessoriescountertoppaint.html
· One can of Giani Clear Topcoat at www.gianigranite.com/DetailMineralsAccessoriescountertoppaint.html
· One Liquid Stainless “Save-A-Trip” Kit at www.LiquidStainlessSteel.com
· One Pint of Liquid Stainless Base Coat at www.LiquidStainlessSteel.com
Sasha Elder I would not put stainless steel on my counters. Yes, it looks nice for a few days. Everything that touches your counters will scratch it. Eventually they looks old and damaged. If you are going for that look, then it would be good.
Is there any concern about UV fading for something that might be painted and left outside for long periods of time?
I have high end stainless steal and this doesn't really compare ... but if I were staging a house for a renter or something then I suppose buying the cheapest appliances and making them look high end this stuff would be ideal.
MEGAN? DID YOU DO IT? HOW DID IT TURN OUT? WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF A BLAK OR STAINLESS FRIDGE CAUSE OUR KITCHEN IS BLACK. WE ARE JUST STRAPPED FROM MOVING. DID THIS WORK FOR YOUZ/
You know what's more annoying than the music? The fact that the poster won't even acknowledge all the complaints about it. I would not want to do business with such a rude company. The music could easily be removed (since it was added last) and the video re-uploaded.
Ok, where you buy it?
Do you use the same process on cabinets?
I like the idea...but it looks really time consuming especially with all the hours till the appliance can be fully functional again. I do not think the appliances presented in the video looked cheap, just the quality of the video was not good. I really liked how the stove and dishwasher looked. The fridge is a give or take. I would buy this product if I had the time and patience to be very precise with the application process...
This is not a nice shiny stainless steel like the real thing, it finishes mat, may as well just use rustoleum metalic silver and it will give you the same silver finish. It doesn't look half as nice as the ones you buy. I tried it and eventually decided to get Used stainless steel appliances which are good working appliances with the updated look, for 1/3 the price of the retail stores.
Will this work on plaster??? I'm doing an art project and I want it to look like steel....
Gotcha. Thanks so much.
@99fordzx29 People have used it to restore the rear panels of DeLoreans - You would need to use an appropriate Primer and Spray system for this though - Let us know if you have any questions
Good question - you don't - All of the images on the web site are of fridges with texture because that's what has been primarily sold by the appliance industry in the last two decades - The texture remains - you're simply updating the finish of your fridge Tim
COMICAL.
do you have any version of this video that was not filmed on a Potato?
Can apply this method on my car?
What's with the car comments lol. Im Just here for the comments, some are so funny
Can this be bought in the uk - I have just accidentally rubbed off aluminium coating to a splash back and need to repair with something hard wearing.
We don't have a stockist in the UK, but you can purchase directly from our website and ship it to the UK. I hope this helps!
can you use this product on a gas range stove, considering that fire is burning, is it flammable?
Good question, lol have your fire extinguisher near by lol
Only you can provoke a forest fire
It retails for $69.95 to paint a typical fridge and $24.95 to paint a typical range and dishwasher. You can find these Kits at the stores listed on our web site - or buy it directly from our web site.
can i spray it on?
Is this product still available?
Hi Tim. Can this paint be put into a sprayer?
can you do the range hood same way
Absolutely! We have many customers apply LSS to their range hoods and it looks great!
It dosent show in this video but it looks real
how do you clean the stove after the stainless steel coating? especially if it has hard food or messy spills?
He said soap, water and a soft cloth.
it need to be more chrome looking because that dull gray doesnt look like stainless steel
I'm not 100% sold on this technique because stainless steel has a very particular look. This finish looks more grey than silver. The color is not light enough which is typically why most ppl. want stainless steal appliances. For the silver clean look.
What do these cost?
Will this work on Black color appliances?
If you have a black aluminium surface, that won't be a problem! Feel free to check out our website FAQ page for other surfaces you can paint on! www.gianigranite.com
its a bit awkward taking my fridge to the carwash
What was wrong with the original white?
Its racist
Eric Smith Sharp eyes!
Where can i purchase the paint thx
