Just an fyi.... You could've just used some Brillo/ steel wool to get unwanted paint off smooth surfaces like those. Great video... Years ago I saw that there was a stainless steel peel & stick for appliances, and I've really wanted to do it, but this way seems so much easier. Great job👍😷
This is the first time I hear about this stainless steel paint. Been in the appliance industry for over 12 yrs and this just gave me some ideas. Thanks 👊👊
Here are a couple tips from a "serial" house flipper...if you have petroleum jelly, you can smear it over glass areas. Use a candle to rub on edges of wood cabinets, window sills etc. for tight painting situations. If you get paint spray or touch cabinets with dab of paint...spray wipes off with removal of petroleum and dried dab of paint comes off as you gently scrap off candle wax. I use a piece of styrofoam to stick screws upright in so I can spray paint the heads easily and let dry without rolling around or getting stuck together or messed up.

It's not the best representation of stainless steel, but better than the silver finish by some companies. Doesn't look too bad, but I'd pick up some old appliances before doing your own.
A few tips from a fellow DIYer; remove tape while the paint is still wet (after about 10 mins) and it won't pull paint off. Also, look into printing new labels with waterslide paper!

The microwave looks fantastic. You don't need to paint the vent because black and silver looks fab. Just use abbreviations for the dishwasher cycles. Nice job though.
What about using clear labels you can buy at any office supply store, then print on your home computer using whatever font/size fits? I know these labels exist to be used for things like return address labels and spice jars, etc. I'm thinking you could place the labels before putting on the finish see-through top coat. Thoughts???
So what you guys are saying is that once you know you're done painting, you remove the tape right away? I Just want to make sure i don't mess this up since I'll be painting my house soon🙏🙏🙏. Thanks!

Craig B You don’t know about the “long haul” effects of COVID.. My godson contracted COVID In April. Age 38 with 2 teen sons. Not overweight. 3 weeks hospital. Including 2 weeks ICU and ventilator. Released from hospital in May. On June 1st. while accompanying his parents to get take-out food, felt sick in car. Was rushed to ER. Collapsed outside ER. 26 minutes to get heartbeat then taken inside. Diagnosis cardiac arrest which in turn led to vegetative state. He is now in a Persistent Vegetative State (PVS) , only able to open and close eyes. COVID attacked his heart and led to the cardiac arrest. There are many long-term affects of COVID infection. It is an infectious disease. Read up on the long-term effects of polio and other infectious diseases. You sound very naive. I’m 59. I’m older than you and seen a lot more than you. Saying recovered from COVID does not account for the long-term effects of this disease. And saying “NO BIGGIE” shows your ignorance. I’ll be sure and tell his mom, my best friend, that you said her son recovered from COVID so NO BIGGIE. PS COVID immunity only lasts 3-6 months. The same reason why the flu shot must be given each year. There is no permanent, absolute immunity from any disease.

What really matters is spending time with the people you love & bringing each other happiness in all of the simple ways that you can. We think it's money that we can't get more of but it's not, TIME TOGETHER is what we run short on at the end of the day. We work so much to try to buy things. I can't believe how great that looks! I changed out glass globes...choosing new styles from tons of globes at thrift shop at 50 cents a globe! They look amazing and were awed over many times! I also did curtain rods and hooks, etc. The knobs and drawer pulls I wanted for kitchen were 10-12 dollars a piece and I needed 24! Found two BAGFULLS of identical knobs and pulls at a Goodwill for 3 bucks a bag, all screws included! They were shiny silver and I needed a more aged, dark matte finish. So tried Rustoeum aged bronze spray paint....came out BEAUTIFUL! Didnt scratch off either! So six bucks for bags of knobs and pulls, and five bucks for spray paint....saved me hundreds! Your video was my first so I had to come back and comment... ❤️❤️
THANK YOU for this video! I also used it in my kitchen and painted both my dishwasher and microwave with it, and they both turned out amazingly well. I love the look of them and at some point plan to do the same to my fridge. You're awesome!!!
My husband and I absolutely LOOOVE IT!! I like that you didnt paint the top of the microwave! It looks perfect and I am inspired to try this on my fridge and microwave! Thank soo much!! Muah
I would of done “P” for pots and “N” for normal. And then do the same for everything else. You’re the only one using it, so you know what they stand for! I think that would of looked cute!
In case you need a solution for button: just put numbers over each button then you can have a legend or key on the top where you can only see it if you open it.
My first thought when you ran into the label-maker dilemma was that you could simply turn the labels vertically (have the stickers turned 90 degrees, so the words are sideways, being spelled upwards).
That is amazing. WOW!! Now the true test is how it holds up to cleaning. Leave the micro vent black. Almost all stainless appliances have black trim, etc. . The keypad and the window are black. It all will balance. Nice job. Removing the tape much sooner will make a huge difference in your final outcome but this was a test piece and the perfect piece to work out what very few issues you had. Honestly, I am shocked just how well this turned out. You were very brave to include your micro in your first test run.
No way that would be impossible to weed. I use my Cricut multiple times a week and lettering that would have to be that small would be dang near impossible
I came here to say that very thing! In one of my craft groups, I saw someone re-label their stove with vinyl cut on a cricut because the push pad was completely worn... it looked fantastic!
That’s absolutely incredible!! I am about to paint all of my 1973 avocado green appliances that I cannot stand, in order to match my black fridge and dish washer. This video popped up and now idk. I might change it all!
It looks great! You did a really good job! Most people would be terrified painting an appliance of all things, so I give you a lot of credit. I’m a painter and refinisher and one thing I would recommend on future projects is spending a little more money and purchase Frog Tape. The blue painters tape always gave me more problems. I could never trust it would stop paint bleed. All I do after applying Frog Tape is wet the edges with water and lightly dry it off. It activates the tape to seal the edges. After that, just paint away! It comes out perfect. Your kitchen looks great!
I'm in the process of redoing my kitchen with the liquid stainless after watching your video. You did a Great job! Hope mine goes as well! Bravo🙂👏👏👏👏👏❤
This is a perfect solution for my very old Kitchenaid range. I changed all my appliances one by one from white to stainless as they stopped working over the years. But now, not wanting to change my range because, damn, it’s still an excellent performer! They don’t make them to last like this any more and, unless you can afford a new Kitchenaid, you just don’t wanna get rid of something purely for aesthetic reasons. This is not a sponsored post, but how can you argue? I bought this range in 2001! It’s as old as my home which is 22 years this year. Raised my family, seen many meals and celebrations and this range has never needed any repairs! Not even a lightbulb!! If my relationships were this reliable I would have stayed in them too!! Haha! But I digress..I will be ordering this paint and giving old “Kitchy” a glo-up!
It looks so good. I have a stainless steel refrigerator but the condo I bought already had black stove and dishwasher in it but its not in the budget to replace so this is a great idea! Thanks!
I did this to my dishwasher, stove, and frig.. They looked amazing. It lasted for years for me. Just remember if you do a stove, make as many top coats as you can.
The result looks amazing! How has it held up over the last year and a half? Has it peeled or chipped or cracked? This would be a great hack for renting cheaper, but I wouldn’t want to install something while renting if it would degrade over time, and I could be liable to replace them.
Please, please, PLEASE always advise to use good ventilation when painting indoors, especially using spray paint- use a mask, and!... pull your long hair into a pony tail!!😁🙏
Bluessongstress1963 the point is she doesn’t need to kill ppl with dredging on & on about it. Ppl aren’t freaking stupid, okay. We know to open windows, wear masks, gloves, etc., and the hair thing is completely optional & personal. It won’t kill you if you don’t put it up. 🤷♀️ It’s their paint finish, not mine. lol I’m not about to tell a grown woman how to wear her hair just bc *I* would’ve chosen to wear it a certain/different way.

I agree she should totally make a big point of that!! Lol, I'd like to think I'm not stupid... I'm pretty smart in a lot of ways but definitely thought I was maybe going to die a few months ago for a few hours after spray painting something in a small closed area... It was idiotic. Felt like I couldn't sit up for a few hours. But felt too stupid to tell anyone what I had done. Don't let more people do what I did! Ha.

it came out great girl. Good job. I just cleaned our stainless steel appliances yesterday and they're still good. I don't have to this since we are already using stainless in the kitchen but thanks for sharing.
There’s an apartment complex that I’ve been eyeing up for a while who does that whole “some rooms are more expensive some are less expensive, but they’re the same.” I asked what the difference was, as the price was $230/mo in rent difference, and was told the only difference is their “premium rooms” have stainless instead of black appliances. No other differences at all. Interesting video.
@@maariahh7872 Latex is water based paint and yes, it can usually be cleaned up with soap and water or just simply scraping......but only if its on non pourus surfaces.
Jill Franklin scraping to remove dried paint works great on glass, stone, ceramic, etc. However, scraping dried paint off shiny plastic... (tsk) that would’ve been a total frickin disaster of scratches marring the surface forever. She would’ve had to sand & polish the scratches out just to get rid of ‘most’ of them, & that still would not have removed all of them, especially near the recessed edges - right where most of the problem paint was located. 🤷♀️ I think she made the right call.
@@ashleyfalcon125 No, that's not usually the case , it depends on the plastic. Latex paint only adheres to porous surfaces. This is why you have to use a bonding primer before painting some surfaces with latex or use a chaulk, milk, oil, acrylic, etc paint instead. Latex is water based, therefore, not very adherent in nature. Plastic that is rough in texture, it can be a bit harder to remove from. But smooth, shiny plastic.....no. She wouldn't scratch the plastic, because she would scrape with a plastic flat edge scraper, not a metal scraper or razor blade in this instance. Plus, you don't have to scrape much at all, it mostly peels off or washes away with soap and water. My step father owns a construction company. We own a home audio/video business and are in new construction homes and/or homes being remodeled alot. Glass, ceramic ( if glazed ), yes those are easily cleaned as well, but stone, not so much. Unless it is a heavily buffed or glazed smooth stone. It can be quite difficult or even impossible to remove any type paint from rough stone.
Wait if the dishwasher was broken, did you just paint it so everything would blend color wise, until you got a new one?.... either way- it’s looks fantastic!!
I love watching your home projects. Never even knew that product existed, so cool! Makes the microwave and dishwasher look sleek. Ps Teachers love Googone to get all the sticky tape off in the classroom.
I see a kitchen remodel in my very near future! My stove and stove vent could use a new finish. I was thinking about the chrome finish spray paint but it doesn't seem like it works very well. I'll try this instead. Good video, thanks for posting it.
Based on my experience, frog tape has been incredible for getting the straight lines. Try that on your next project. I used to it brush paint, stain, spray paint and always worked out
You can put the labels on top and under the buttons. So “pots” on top the “normal” would be under “large” above and whatever next under. Just a suggestion

I would of done “P” for pots and “N” for normal. And then do the same for everything else. You’re the only one using it, so you know what they stand for! I think that would of looked cute!
“P” pots “E” everything “N” normal “I” instant .... “S” for 😂😂
My thought exactly
I use the touch protecter Rust-Oleum black gloss for my fridge and stove-they look new and shiny
Leave it like it is. Looks great and unique. Great job!
I'm so glad you try this stuff so I can see what it looks like! I'm really impressed by this. I may try it!
Kristy Joy thank you! I’m super impressed by it, I never would have thought it would look so real!
Cricut
Even tilted at 45 degrees.
I used a black window tint film. It was static cling wrap. Bought on amazon. Giani told me about it. Words look perfect. Its great for this kit.
I'm in Awe watching this video. Never knew it had those kind of paint at all. Well done young lady.
This such a good idea! What a great way to save money
See if a friend or acquaintance has a cricut. It can cut tiny letters out of vinyl and will work great for labeling
Nonni do you happen to have a picture of this?
This is incredible!!! Our dishwasher just died so we want to start switching to stainless and this is the perfect way to have everything match 🤩
For labels: you could also print the exact size font you need on a clear sticker paper available at most office and craft stores :)
Thanks for the education! I love it! Cathryn
I'm in the process of redoing my kitchen with the liquid stainless after watching your video. You did a Great job! Hope mine goes as well! Bravo🙂👏👏👏👏👏❤
A lot of the appliances in the big box stores are “stainless color” painted! Great job and kudos for your nerve to push ahead !!
Fantastic paint job. It looks great and it looks like real stainless steel.
It came out great!
Print the smallest font, use thick clear packing tape, soak in water a minute, then rub off the paper and let tape dry, stick onto the unit
I would suggest typing all the cycles as once. Your labeler should resize the wording to make the letters closer.
All I think of is nene saying “not a white refrigerator”
Amy A 🤣🤣🤣
😂
the ghetto 😂😂 i love that episode
lmaooo yes!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭
I love them both, good job 👏. I think I'll do my white refrigerator stainless steel too
That turned out so great. Like the black on the microwave.
I did not even know that there was such a thing as stainless steel paint.
This looks amazing. Didn't even know they had this.
I have a stainless microwave, the top part is black.
It looks so good. I have a stainless steel refrigerator but the condo I bought already had black stove and dishwasher in it but its not in the budget to replace so this is a great idea! Thanks!
They both look fantastic! I like the black vents on the microwave.
I did this to my dishwasher, stove, and frig.. They looked amazing. It lasted for years for me. Just remember if you do a stove, make as many top coats as you can.
Thank you for the advise. This is exactly what I was planning to do regarding the stove/oven. Thanks again.
Hi, what color did you paint the top of the stove near the burners? Black?
The result looks amazing!
How has it held up over the last year and a half? Has it peeled or chipped or cracked?
This would be a great hack for renting cheaper, but I wouldn’t want to install something while renting if it would degrade over time, and I could be liable to replace them.
Please, please, PLEASE always advise to use good ventilation when painting indoors, especially using spray paint- use a mask, and!... pull your long hair into a pony tail!!😁🙏
Bluessongstress1963 I think people no to open windows unless there daft
Yes, so very important.
@@ashleyfalcon125 Your comment was just SO rude and mean spirited. And 4 what? To make someone else wrong about taking safety precautions.
Perhaps u should take your own advice
I agree she should totally make a big point of that!! Lol, I'd like to think I'm not stupid... I'm pretty smart in a lot of ways but definitely thought I was maybe going to die a few months ago for a few hours after spray painting something in a small closed area... It was idiotic. Felt like I couldn't sit up for a few hours. But felt too stupid to tell anyone what I had done. Don't let more people do what I did! Ha.
I have the same exact microwave in Stainless and the vent is black. Looks great!
Work I wouldn't have expected it to look that good! Great job!
The black on top if microwave looks great. It matches the side panel and the black of the dishwasher
I'm here and I don't even need to paint any appliances. Well done!!
Right I already have Ss appliances. This is just amazing.
Little hint window scrapers are usually 80cent and they usually come with a Stanley blade
In it - brilliant for cleaning
Love it and the black grill at the top of the microwave makes it look real good.
Looks amazing! Great job. I think the microwave looks perfect. Don't paint the vent, it matches with the black on your stove. Love it!
Take pic of the instructions and get that printed on a waterproof sticker.
Damn now that's smart, if I was your husband I would always make sure you fell asleep before me and buy you one of those noisy charm bracelets, jk
Oh wow, that looks so good! I love it! I’m definitely going to do my fridge so it matches my new dishwasher!
Thank you!
Please take care!

So obsessed with your videos! This turned out fantastic. I wouldn’t paint the microwave vent. It looks great the way you left it!! 💕
Michelle Beck thank you! The more I look at it I realize i should just leave it!
I love the outcome! I really need it badly coz we have an old refrigerator and I want it to have a different vibe but we are on a budget. This is really awesome girl. Thank you for sharing this. We badly need it.
it came out great girl. Good job. I just cleaned our stainless steel appliances yesterday and they're still good. I don't have to this since we are already using stainless in the kitchen but thanks for sharing.
I always had second thoughts about these paints but now that I saw you do it I think I'll give it a try 👍
There’s an apartment complex that I’ve been eyeing up for a while who does that whole “some rooms are more expensive some are less expensive, but they’re the same.”
I asked what the difference was, as the price was $230/mo in rent difference, and was told the only difference is their “premium rooms” have stainless instead of black appliances. No other differences at all.
Interesting video.
Now you can spend the $23 on your own. Lol
But what they charge you once you leave?
How would you return it to its original condition?
@@sharell814 This is my question as well because I'm moving next month. The dishwasher is supposed to be white but looks yellow :/
Fyi: all latex paint cleans up with soap and water
Tavarus McKinney she said it was water based paint
Fyi means for your information i guess
It all looks brilliant! Well done.
Thanks!
Wait if the dishwasher was broken, did you just paint it so everything would blend color wise, until you got a new one?.... either way- it’s looks fantastic!!
Alex Post yeah she just wanted to test out the paint.
To test if it works, so she doesn’t try it out on something she has to keep.
Its 4:58am and im here . What has my life become 🤦🏽♀️
It's 4:54 for me!
2:15 am 🤦🏾♀️
Got you beat, it’s 5:15am here. I do this too much and get mad at myself. Really glad I’am not the only one!!
I love watching your home projects. Never even knew that product existed, so cool! Makes the microwave and dishwasher look sleek. Ps Teachers love Googone to get all the sticky tape off in the classroom.
sophyj84 hahab i love that!! My mom was a teacher and it definitely would have been helpful for her!
Watching from Toronto. I will do my microwave and dishwasher. Thank you great job.
Wow! Didn't know there was stainless steel paint. Great job on microwave and dishwasher.
This is so satisfying to watch 😍 love your home DIY’s sooooo much
A L L I S O N thank you Allison!! I’m so excited to see your new build and how you guys decorate it😍😍
Fyi they do sell this paint at Walmart, Home Depot & Lowes. Great job
You could try putting the words on slanted. It came out so great, the microwave looks normal as is without painting the vent
littlecrowley that is a cool idea! I will remember this for my diy projects.
Wow awesome! Looks real steel!!
I love this video, don't know how I got here but....well worth staying for it!! Thanks, great idea! I like the microwave the way it is!!
I used to it brush paint, stain, spray paint and always worked out
BuffaloBuilder i agree. Totally worth the price
You can put the labels on top and under the buttons. So “pots” on top the “normal” would be under “large” above and whatever next under. Just a suggestion
That is amazing and the vent black is just right!!!
