Greg Kulig actually with the exception of the females on country radio you don't have male or female singers in any other genres. If they ain't country and they came out from 2006-from here on out then they are not singers other than Katy Perry. Other than Katy Perry everybody else outside of country from 2006-from here on out should have the title of this song said to them.because they are no good. They are pure garbage
Linda's had a voice that could shake a house. There will never be a voice more pure and raw. No computer effects here and she could still out sing any female vocalist of today.
+nancy gillespie Vocalists have their own styles- but every time I hear Adele belt out one of her choruses she's got NO vocal richness or quality like that of Linda Ronstadt's voice. It's just a loud volume control. It's just so true that the Grammy winner vocalists of today don't even come close by comparison to talent and musicianship of Linda.
+quicksite I am so pleased to read your comment. If I say I don't like Adele, and I don't, it is like I am committing sacrilege. I don't think Adele has any vocal richness: to me she is loud, lumpen and one-note and she strangles her vowels. I actually loathe her voice and all commentators these days tell me I should be moved to tears by it. Occasionally I am but for completely the wrong reasons!Linda sang from the heart. OK, they were not her songs but she sang them sometimes with a depth and richness that the original writer could not even get close to. No, you are right. Today's Grammy winner vocalists cannot compete.
Well una mckillen i think you and I must be the only 2 people in the world who not only find Adele over-rated, but also with an untrained screechy voice.
+quicksite I hate to think we are but I do agree with you. I love Linda here and here she is no classicist but Adele does not come close to Linda at her best or even her most mediocre.I have to admit I was prejudiced against Adele from day one, just because of the hype But I still think her voice is leaden and one-note with no emotion I can detect (mind you, I have not been to one of her £2K per ticket London concerts and maybe the emotion there is unanswerable.)
I dunno "Don R". I mean *SHE'S GOT A GREAT SINGING VOICE* {don't get me wrong}. I'd say she's as good as some of the current {new generation} of female singers. At the moment, it a "toss up" for me of the title of best female singer between Linda Ronstadt and Whitney Houston. 👨⚖️🇦🇺 👩🎤🏆🎙️♀️
It's said over and over, but this is an all time great performance. Her vocal, her stage presence, and the band that just slays, while being able to leave space. Spot on backup vocals too, and a killer instrumental jam. I've shared this clip more times than I can remember.

Walked into a concert in the 70's, tagging along with nothing else to do, and heard the Eagles open for Linda Ronstadt. Lucky night for me. I wore the grooves our of Ronstadt's albums.
Probably one of the most powerful voices in rock history; she sings better even when screaming than most professional singers in their normal voices, lol.
U don't say ! Arguably one of the greatest performers ever. She's a hall of fameer. Those pro's u mention dare compare themselves with Linda. She's the professional with a CV of greatness. Music royalty .
Plenty of great current singers. Black Pumas and Shortparis come to mind, but there's plenty more. The guitar solo in the "official live session" of Colors is one of my favorite leads ever. Not "digitized". The fact is there is much, much more great music being produced now than ever in history, but, yes, along with it is a staggering amount of shit that does not get sorted out by publishers like it used to. Lady Gaga's Star Spangled Banner at the inauguration is about the best there's ever been. No "auto tune".
@@ryanu3708 you do realize most modern singers use old singers as their inspiration and what rap is the only genre now a days using autotune most of the time
Linda Ronstadt was always dignified. She promoted and credited every musician that wanted to work with her. She helped launch the careers of The Eagles, Jackson Brown and all the legends that just wanted to be part of her amazing talent.
She IS a class act that's hard to follow. Funny how that whole promotional thing worked in those days. One year *you* might be opening a concert for one group or artist and the the next year it might be *you* are the headliner. But I am by no means suggesting that Linda Ronstadt is second to any other artists. (So LR fans don't email me😏)
@@nookam She may have been that way with some of her fellow artists who shared a mutual respect but she righteously resented the way the music industry as a whole treated her. Case in point, she wanted to release an all Spanish album (dedicated to her father) early on but was discouraged/thwarted by the powers that be. But she eventually did what many artists inevitably do and release it under their own label or find somebody that will.👍
I was 23 in '76 & I've always had a big crush on Linda. One of my favorite female singers of all time. It breaks my heart to hear that she's suffering like this.❤💔

Her band was the Stone Poneys. This is not her original bad . Waddy Wachtel is a studio guitarist and producer. Andrew Gold had his own group. He's now deceased. This was an all star lineup but yeah they were jamming
@@juanthompson8016 In the case of music, it got progressively worse. While there's still good bands out there, the overall talent level has gone down and that can't be denied. Today image is more important than talent.
Linda Ronstadt never had that superstar diva attitude, and she had the most powerful voice of anyone in rock/country. I'm glad the documentary is introducing her to new generations as well as reminding us how amazing she was. I'm lucky to have grown up with my mother playing Linda on vinyl constantly! Also, shout out to Andrew Gold. This guy was a musical prodigy who played every instrument on earth really well, produced, arranged and wrote songs with a murderers row of talent.

Linda's voice is the epitome of raw power, control and range. She is probably one of the best female vocalists of the 20th century. I have never heard a bad Linda performance. And she plays with some of the best musicians (though most are studio musicians) of the 20th century.

You're all good Linda. I love you in wellness and ill health as a fan. Your recent diagnosis with Parkinson's broke my heart. Your voice brings back good memories of my parents turning you up. I still turn you up. You did this song justice when you covered it.
I admit I cried a little when I read the story of her sickness, and how she can't even make a sound with her voice. That must be so hard, and I admire her attitude and that it doesn't get her down. She's still just as beautiful and loving as she will always be. Just a pure soul. Peace All!
Linda is awesome with a amazing voice. It is so tragic that her singing was put to a haltShe is so well liked and appreciated for all her kindness Not many people would go to the extreme of helping other bands gain their stardom and be sincerely happy for them.
One of a kind for sure, so giving to others. Never get tired of hearing her voice. Was always amazed how a cute little thing could belt out the words of a song, deep respect

She has this little speaking voice but is a powerhouse when she sings.
Yeah, the contrast was mind-blowing!
I would say meek and mild, unassuming speaking voice. I bet she could be very forceful when speaking too. But her speaking just made her more endearing.
Yea, listen to the long introduction of the band members, then a few seconds later you here that singing voice, holy cow!
Linda ... Aretha ... Barbara ... no equal
@@caderatliff3712 the holy vocal trinity.
Excellent. Great jam .. Reminds me of the good old days..🎸🎸🎸🎸😎
That bridge into that solo is absolutely EPIC! What is wrong with music today? Thake this as a lesson kids!
Yes, noticed that too. It worked like it was Nature.
Radiant, gorgeous Linda belting it out. Without a doubt, a classic performance.
hot and classy, most singers today couldn't hold a candle to Linda in her prime.
I let go of a first chair clarinet of Linda's caliber. It was a self inflicted heart breaking that every loud thunderclap reminds me of.
@Richard - They simply don't compare and they all use auto-tune when they record.
Richard milstead yeah,they’re shite.
AMEN MY BROTHER
No auto tune need for Linda. A great talent.
Never knew Andrew Gold could play guitar that good!
You & Una are not alone. There must be several millions of us out there. God Bless you for stating it!
The Best Female singer ever------she sung it all....and did it great
Also, her Spanish is even better! I know impossible. But YEAH! 👍
A real class act ... what a voice

@ Roberto Well said.
Amen to that!
And I remember so many men saying part of her appeal was her combination of innocence & sexiness.....so true.
Amen💁💋Go Linda
It's said over and over, but this is an all time great performance. Her vocal, her stage presence, and the band that just slays, while being able to leave space. Spot on backup vocals too, and a killer instrumental jam. I've shared this clip more times than I can remember.
100% agree! This clip is my most shared of Linda's catalog. This extended jam is the pinnacle of live art.
Linda was a doll. What a beautiful girl.

Walked into a concert in the 70's, tagging along with nothing else to do, and heard the Eagles open for Linda Ronstadt. Lucky night for me. I wore the grooves our of Ronstadt's albums.
I too, saw her with the Eagles as her backup band 1974 I think. Dan Fogelberg was on the bill also in Sacramento Memorial Coliseum Not too shabby,eh?
This woman was a stone fox in her day, with the voice of an angel!
LOL......I'm 62 and had to chuckle at "stone fox"......haven't heard that in decades!
She was gorgeous and what a voice
she still is and forever will be
She's still beautiful.
MattDsellsKzoo So True Matt! Biggest Crush on her since the 70’s!!!! Love ❤️ her Madly!!!!!
The boys in the bands loved to surround her. Great singer and a superstar without pretentious self-absorbed notions.

alright a real singer.
but what did she see in Brown?
Bullseye!
Could not be said any better then you've done so here 🎯
Man she could sing. Love her music now more than ever.
Damn what a band! They melted those guitars! And Linda blew them away, again
The most talented voice of her generation.

Probably one of the most powerful voices in rock history; she sings better even when screaming than most professional singers in their normal voices, lol.
That's because too many of those singers don't have "pipes". Linda has an incredible set of pipes.

Pay attention kids. No music is being made like this for your generation.
As a 56 year old, I know this statement to be false.
@@charleswettish8701 Of course it is if you are into Autotune and digitized instruments.

@@charleswettish8701 Linda's version was pretty dang awesome! She sang it at a ball game way back when.
She simply oozes class and talent ...
Except when politarding
Linda Ronstadt was always dignified. She promoted and credited every musician that wanted to work with her. She helped launch the careers of The Eagles, Jackson Brown and all the legends that just wanted to be part of her amazing talent.
Shala Taebi I’m glad you added this. I was about to. She had no problem at letting them go, no bitterness and remained very close.
But she eventually did what many artists inevitably do and release it under their own label or find somebody that will.👍
I'll do anything for Linda Ronstadt, she's the greatest.

Linda always had a top shelf band, glad she took time to introduce them. What musician wouldn't want to work with such a legend?
Still Luv Linda Ronstadt! HappyNewYear Babe!
Linda defied musical categories. Surrounded herself with the finest musicians and wrapped that gorgeous powerful voice around great songs. Fame seemed to be a drag for the raven haired beauty but when she sang - all seemed right with our brokenhearted world.

My favorite Linda Ronstadt song.
She had to be the most versatile singer of the time, possibly ever! So good with everything she sang!
As if Linda wasn't one of the all time greats, having both Waddy Wachtel and Andrew Gold in her band is the icing on the cake.
