1982 was one of the best years of my life. How I miss the days of no responsibility, great musicians and beautiful woman. Peace
I might even say beautiful _women_ -- because I feel like there's more than one -- but that's just me.
No rabbit holes
Completely agree, the best time to be alive and young.
Agree agree agree
Yeah, relatively peaceful times when I was young. Our generation sure produced some phenomenal music.
It's 2022 and this is still a great song 40 years later.
40 years mate (1982) but yes a timeless song.

Timeless.
I remember when this song came out as I graduated from college.
Now 63, I wonder where time has gone.
Same here !
We wished it a way instead of living in the moment.
'83 - graduated HS. brings me back to more innocent times.

Yup 1984! Me and my lady from 82 still enjoy it👍🏼
Born in 1964 and this song came out the year I graduated from high school!! Fast forward to this year 2022 and who's with me listening to this great song?
same here ... I remember this being a hit in 1983 ...
me to .. i learned it on my bass .. just because i liked the song.. plus ALL the cool music that came out during that era
Graduated in ‘83, and remember the feelings like it was yesterday. I turned 21 in 1985 and it was such an amazing time to come of age with Madonna, Prince and Michael Jackson having a huge impact on music. Today’s world is a hot mess compared to when I joined the Army, graduated college and got married. The world I knew is gone, sadly…

Man. It would have been great to be alive in 1982. I can't imagine that world compared to now. No internet, no video on demand like TH-cam, no social media, no cell phones. I bet it was so chill.
It was indeed a time to live.....and raise my kids.....
I remember when this song first debuted. It was indeed, a beautiful time to be alive!
Yes it was so much fun, wish you could have experienced that time!😉👍
There was A LOT to like about those days
It was very chill!!
Just another example of the great tunes from the 80s. I had forgotten about this gem.
Music in the 1980s sucked. Just ask anyone who lived thru the 1960s.
@@acousticshadow4032 I was around then..60s and 70s for me were the best but the 80s had their moments too.
My very first cassette tape was a Solid Gold Hits from 1983 which included some great bands. I played this song on my Pioneer radio cassette player that my dad bought me. In fact we bought the radio cassette player and the cassette tape at the same time. Because he thought I’d play the music too loud, he asked about a head set. Those days they were chunky but the quality was superb. This song was so much of my life growing up, at the time I was 14. My father has gone now, too soon. Miss you dad! I learnt so much from you, and I’ll never forget that day when we bought that sound system. ❤❤❤❤beautiful memories.

What a great gem from the 80s. It takes me back to my 20s, and I’m 65 now. Thanks for posting.
I saw them at the coffee house on the Stanford campus just as this album was catching on. They were very late and super apologetic about it, then gave one of the best shows I’ve ever seen to an audience of about 100. She was very charismatic and, yes, sounded every bit as good live as on the record, if not better.
You sae history
Must have been pretty cool!
Was that around the time John Elway was at Stanford?
What a beautiful voice. I had 2 of thier albums. Sadly, never got an opportunity to see them.
"Well I don't remember, all I know is it makes me feel good now" That line gives me shivers every time.
Absolutely ICONIC
Wow, a performance doesn't get any better than this! What a gem!
It's the record. Not live.
@@ulphil08 it's live
It's hard to tell, but I think it's the recording. They were professional enough to match everything they did on the record without actually playing. Although I'd prefer a real performance, including flaws, a popular group like that wouldn't risk making mistakes or being mixed badly because the general populace is enticed more by "perfection" than reality.
No, it is not!@@joejones9520

This song decrbribes my 80's musical history when I was an undergrad. Such fond memories!
Single mother of 2, packs up her kids, moves to LA and starves for a few years, then, BIG TIME!! The woman is amazing, and still is to this day. MARTHA DAVIS. A force to be reckoned
If I married her she wouldn’t have to change her name because we share it. Love this song till I leave this world.
She believed in her dream.
A true beauty
Outstanding 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Great song then and now
This was when music was real and the lyrics and composition was superb in the 1980's! What an era of music of which many of us shall never forget that lived during this "Special" time in music history. One of my teammates in H.S. personally knew the Merv Griffin family as they were close friends with the family in New Jersey during the mid 1970's!
The motels they are phenomenal Great lead guitarist the rhythm is wonderful in this particular song the sax player great and that pretty little baby's got a beautiful the motels great 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵🎵✌️
I was there, loved it then….in retrospect the 8os were absolutely terrible, so plastic and synthy after 1982. Now, I realize the 197os was absolute quality.
@@11dsw ~ Agree with your assessment of 80s music, which with few exceptions, was nothing but trash. All Big Hair, Spandex & Drum Machines. None of it could hold a candle to the 1960s. Motown alone blew the doors off the 1980s.
@@11dsw I grew up in the 70's and the women stunk. So there's that.

1983, I graduated from college. The world looked good and things were looking up. 41 years of battles and fights, scars and bruises, the body and soul aren't very good anymore, but this song remains wonderful and reminds me of some of my last happy days in school going to a club dancing with a pretty gal to this song.

Yes, me too--bitter but sweet...
That singer so knows how to play to a crowd. Not only are her vocals one of a kind stellar, but those Betty Boop facial expressions, quirky glances & those moments of euphoria when she's lost in a verse... how can you not fall in love with her. That was the good ole days when every component of the song from the synth to the high-hats made them the enigma they were. Makes me mad that the label didn't give them more latitude (and a little $$$) to give us more. They had it in them.
Seriously, she should be on legendary status like Stevie Nicks or Grace Slick, and this band should have been huge.
You describe her perfectly, its how I always envisioned her.
Timeless! This song moves me today just as much as it did in the '80s, if not more! *CHILLS*
I was a HS freshman when this came out. I grew up with great music in the 70's and had so many amazing bands in the 80's to listen to. I wish I knew then how blessed I was to experience everything during that time.
I was 20 in 1982 when this song came out. It's still one of my all time favorite songs. For me, it was one that defined the decade.
Cool! 65 and I have heard and enjoyed the song but till now, I had never heard of The Motels!
Excellent tune and lead singer has a great voice.

Being a child of the 80s, I was able to enjoy Fleetwood Mac when this album and their green Greatest Hits album were released. I still remember watching their videos and listening to “Little Lies,” and “Seven Wonders.” And I totally agree, they are so good, not only do they sound great but they remind us of the original group with their fantastic looks !!! Debbie! As always! You’re so sweet and beautiful! You were my childhood crush ! And you still are ! God Bless You !!
I find it so hard to believe that this song is now over 40 years old. We were all in High School back then or just young adults. I don't think the 1980's truly went away......it's more a situation that our generation just all grew up, that's all. We went on to have relationships, were married, had and raised kids, bought homes. and some of us focused on our careers. And now when we take the time to look back at that time in life, we remember just how great it was being young with all of the music back then. Being nostalgic is a good thing. While the 1980's have "technically" passed, we are still a part of that decade and we "all" were the 1980's. We all lived them, and will always have the memories of a better time gone by.
*I was 24 and you couldn't tell me nothing♥️*
