MS 150 - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Congratulations. I've also been a small engine mechanic for 50 years. So I went through all the service schools of the different companies with a diploma. Stihl, echo, husqvarna, honda, kawasak, yamaha, etc. and I've seen so many so-called good mechanics adjust carburetors so stupidly, but you know how. You must first adjust the low speed and as you did by turning the needle slowly and find the RPM select and enrich a quarter turn then do the same with the high speed needle. Also, as the 2 circuits add up at high rpm, it is essential to adjust the low speed first because if the low speed is comming more lean after adjusting the high speed, the total mixture will be too lean . CONGRATULATIONS you are the first on youtube and even in the shops that I see adjusting a carburetor in the right way!!
Thanks sir!
You saved me! Ready to take my MS 250 Stihl to the repair shop because it wouldn’t start. But I cleaned the carburetor as you instructed and put the new 91 octane ethanol free gas and dumped out the old gas. Now she’s running great. Thanks man!
great video bro! gave me the confidence to take my saw apart and do a detail!
having a problem with the saw just cutting out straight after it fires up, I'm thinking either bad fuel, blocked fuel line / filter or dirty carby.
either way i feel more confident tackling the job now i've watched this video!
thanks!
I have 2 ms250s, 16 +18. Older 16inch is a bear to start. The other one is a totally different saw. Never fails.
Great help video! Cleaned my first carburetor with your help.
good vid on the MS250. My 250 is a '10 model was doing the same thing and just last month I had to clean/replace pump and diaphragm. Its a tough little saw for cutting a few ricks a winter and other clearing projects around the place. Note to self when making a vid; place camera where arms/hands don't block...and turn the back ground racket off (radios).
Thanks a lot, that was full of everything I needed and well presented. I owe you one!
Awesome vid, getting my saw ready right now with all these fires here in Oregon going on. Figured this was needed my STIHL doing same this idles. Bogs when ya hit it. Thanks man liked subscribed ✅
Glad I could help
Excellent. Very helpful and informative!
Mine is doing this exactly. Then once it does this it wont start again. I got a carb rebuild kit for it but havent gotten to working on it.
Very good information on this video. Thanks
lol, light duty home owner saw that pulls like a bear!!
Greetings! To dismantle the throttle rod, it is not necessary to remove the upper cover that covers the throttle trigger and throttle block. To easily remove the rod, it is enough to set the choke control lever to the operating position, press the gas and pry the rod with a slotted screwdriver
cannot get the carb off without removing the upper cover.
@Eric Stanley he's talking about the handle cover for the trigger linkage
5/16 socket will fit carb stud nuts, handle cover does not have to be removed to release throttle linkage press on throttle to move linkage forward and pluck out of slot, you will have minor resistance but I’m sure you can cope with it😎
Great explanation! Thank you.
Subscribed.
Impressive!!! you make it look easy and thanks for the adjustment stuff at the end too.
I have an ms 250 and it was doing the same thing, It would run for a few seconds then begin starving like yours was doing,.. so I filled it all the way up and then it would run for a lot less time before bogging, I accidentally left the gas cap open, cranked, it and revved it up and and ran great, so I left the cap open and finished what I was doing with gas leaking out,.. brought a new gas cap and it did fix it.
GREAT Pro Video ! Thanks
pro? no way... I'm a guy with a screwdriver and a camera phone!
EXACTLY what i needed! Thank you!
Great video
great video
Like some mechanics on 4 stroke engines like briggs & startton on snowblowers and others whose up and down revs are jammed to upset the governor and spring settings rather than adjusting or cleaning the carburetor lol
Thanks. I have an older 032 AV. Thinking it's around about an 84 or 85. Mine is doing what your was doing. Sometimes it would Rev up fine but as soon as I tuch the log would just fall on its face and die. Sometimes I can make two cuts no problem Sometimes can't even start the cut. Took the carb apart had what looked like saw dust under the diaphragm. I cleaned that out. Other side looked good but I didn't know about the two jets. Might still be my problem. Seems strange that sometimes it runs like it should and sometimes nothing! Thanks
You might have a crack in your fuel pick up line inside of the tank does it do the same thing if you fill it right to the brim with fuel and perhaps try cutting upside down or on its side ?
It’s pretty damn heavy duty for a homeowner saw!!
Your 250 started a lot easier than any ms 250 I have ever owned. They have a propensity for flooding. Since yours was so lean it started easy but had no acceleration or idle. I would have replaced the fuel filter, first, and richened up the low jet a bit before jumping into the carb. If I have to go into a carb then I clean it and and replace the diaphragms. My carbs stay pretty clean because I use nothing but PNE gas and Stihl Ultra oil or Stihl Moto Mix.
Instablaster
maybe u do it in a wrong way, mine always start easy , 5~6 pull already start,if the engine already hot only need 1 or 2 pull to start,,
Excellent explanation on setting the H and L screws. How do you set the idle speed (LA) screw, and does adjusting the LA screw effect/require further adjustments to the H and/or L screws? Thank you!!!
You should set the LA screw last, once youve set the L and the H, all the LA screw does it press on the throttle, similar to you squeezing the trigger. Once you have the L and the H screws set, adjust the LA screw until the chain starts to move forward, then slowly back the LA screw out until the chain stops, that should be about it.
@@machinesnmetal outstanding...thank you!
U guys should see how we use the ms250 to cut down Pine trees in South Africa
I'd love to see!!! Send me a video and I'll put it up on the channel for all the subscribers to see!
No need to take handle apart just give it full throttle and pop it off.
I have an ms250 that hasn’t been started for nearly a year. Can’t get it to start so I figured it was a fuel / carb issue . Disassembled and saw that the diaphragm at 8:00 has no “bounce” like yours does - it’s very thin and flimsy. This won’t work like it should right ? I figured it could be replaced but I’ve just ordered a new carby anyway, since I don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner.
It needs to be supple
Informative! The solution in the ultra sonic cleaner, it that something special, or just e.g. water and some soap?
I dont remeber the name, its mostly water with a detergent made for the ultrasonic cleaner.
I use kerosene in my ultra sonic cleaner. Getting remaining water out of a carb is an iffy situation. Kerosene or mineral spirits are excellent cleaners and will wash right through a carb.
My chain continues to spin at idle, I have turned the idle down and it will either still move the chain or it will stall from low idle
You may need new clutch springs.
Lol my 250 Has an 18 inch bar on it starts every time and eats there anything I go at trees that are 24 inches around with no problem just Gotta know what you’re doing the word bosses are right but love the 311
Hey machinenmetal, great video, thank you. I am having similar issues on my Ms250. What liquid you use in you ultrasonic cleaner? Just water or something like simplegreen?
I use one called Sonic Pro from a place in Port Kells but you can buy ultrasonic cleaning solution from Amazon
Great video, but what do I do if I don't have an ultrasonic carburetor cleaner?
Do this:
th-cam.com/video/R1DtY2VwSyY/w-d-xo.html
Mine has some kinda plastic sleeves over the top mixture screws. I can't figure out how to get my adjustment screws out.
rip those sleeves out of there with you needlenose pliers!
@@machinesnmetal thanks
I just picked up a MS251 and it runs exactly the same. The carb limiters were removed and exhaust was ported... because these mods were done does the fuel mix differ also? Thanks!
i doubt it, it should run better ported.
@@machinesnmetal Thanks!
Good vid. Since I, nor most don't have an ultrasonic cleaner in their shop, is there an alternative way of cleaning out the carb? Thank you.
Not that I know of
@@machinesnmetal I took the knowledge you provided and did my MS-210 carb. Not having an ultrasonic cleaner, I simply sprayed the heck out of the carb body inside and out, along with all the parts, with carb cleaner. Reassembled, and seems to be considerably better. Still just a bit sluggish though when punching the trigger. Thanks again!!!
I'm glad you got it. If you have a stumble on acceleration, try turning the L screw out just a touch more, maybe 1/4-1/3 turn to richen it up a tad at idle. The extra fuel should carry the engine through the lean out when you squeeze the trigger.
Anyone know what the metering lever setting is for the Walbro car on these MS2590s? (The spring lever hightnthat the fuel metering diaphagm sits against.) Just rebuilt mine and discovered on the Walbro website that part number 500-13 is needed to set it properly. No actual measurement/setting done during this video.
the "W" tool is just a strait edge for most carbs. I've got a few of them, never use them tho.
Thanks. The saw is a MS250 with a (not what is above) with a Walbro WT 215 carb. the lever does not come anywhere close to the top of the body when disassembled but is well recessed. Closer inspection shows there is a slight rim cast into the body that goes around the lever tip. perhaps the set up is the same as above just using the inner casting instead of the body.
Also noticed from another video that on the W tool, the middle of the W is used for the WT carbs. It is slightly lower than the outsides.
@@dslag654 that makes more sense than rasing it to the top... i think the carb on my 026 was like that
What about the spring that belongs in the carb thats sitting next to your utility knife?
not from that carb; waaaaaaaaaaay to big. it was left in the creme brulet dish I was using in the ultraSonic cleaner from a previous briggs and straton carb job, the plastic ones ontop of the tin tank. The new briggs rubber diaphram kit comes with that spring. Thus I tossed it aside when I dumped out the mainjet after cleaning it. Good eye 1958johndeere620!
So was everyone like hey I can clean my carburetor now with this video until he mentioned the carburetor cleaner machine that not everyone has ... like great I guess I’ll be taking it to a shop
$60 Harbour Freight anyone?
@@machinesnmetal just strap a container to an orbital sander and voila!... solvent everywhere!
... An air compressor..??
Let my just but out my ultrasonic carb cleaner that everyone has lol😂
Get one for $40 on amazon
Please make this video again.
Mines wasn’t starting if it did it wouldn’t idle of long so I thought it was the cab when i sprayed gas in the cab it starts ,do you think its the cab ?
yep.
What year is the saw ?
I'm not sure the year. Sorry.
Bit of a pickle here... I took the needle screws out of the carb to clean them but they look different and I'm not sure which one is which!
I think the threads are different between them so they will only go in there own holes
Less than 3 hrs on mine from new.
And here I am
And that is exactly what mine sounds like, but worse..
warranty the carb?
How about cleaning that puppy up. It may not run any better but it will last a lot longer
Sound Garden AAAAAHHHHH
I don't know how to turn exact h an l
Watch the video
Dude thanks for the vid and realistic setting good info completely. Fk the rest about dangerous setting and the cleaner -_- you may not get everything without the cleaner but some air or carb cleaner can is fine. If you can't figure out what to do with this vid, take it to a shop you might damage your saw......
Yeah, but how do you clean it without an ultrasonic carb cleaner? Not everybody has one of those. Lol
You don't, you replace it.
You can buy one at harbor freight for $40
No need to remove the throttle cover.
Nga bisa baha ingris
Thanks for the help, you need better shot views your hands don't let us see what you're doing
will somebody let me borrow their supersonic carb cleaner?
sure come and get it
That is not a Stihl carb unless someone had removed the limiters from it before you got it. All Stihl carbs have limiters.
I removed them a few years back during another service for the customer.
@@machinesnmetal How do you remove them?
Yeah, that saw does have “a bit of a problem”! It’s filthy!!! Lol.
That's how we get em, filthy and not running usually = cheap or free 🤠🤠
That is a loud ultrasonic cleaner
Powerfull! 1500w, can't run it when the compressor is going or they pop the breaker 😕
I would assume that is someone owns a “ultrasonic carb cleaner” they wouldn’t need this video would they.
Seeing as 10% of the video involves the cleaner, I'd say it's a pretty handy video to watch if you are trying to service the carburetor on your saw.
Or new carburetors only ten bucks
The video was how to clean and adjust the old one not how to replace it with a $10 one. That's in the other video 😂
Sir you have a propane heater next to you and you are using carburetor cleaner and gasoline blowing right next to you that's so dangerous and showing a video I think you should be a little bit more careful. It's only my opinion no offense.
I appreciate your concerns, thank you.
Lol
It’s pretty damn heavy duty for a homeowner saw!!
