@@aquarian6004 hii kabayan, acrylic emulsion and white lacquer po, pero u can use polyurethane sealer na non toxic (not silicon) since that's the first one I used.

Thank you so much for putting out this video! I'm an American who currently resides in Denmark. As you can guess, Cement All is not easily available here and other concrete (beton) mixes here just don't seem to work right for candle jars. When I saw this video, my frustration turned to hope!! I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to soon. I found that the ingredients are all easily available here in Denmark so I've ordered them and can't wait to try this. And yes, this journey has made me realize how 'spoiled' we are in America with easy access to so many things. It's been quite a reality check living here in Europe to find that I can't just get whatever I need, lol. So this video is greatly appreciated since I had to figure out a concrete jar alternative. Awesome content & video! Can't wait to try this out this week! Once dry and out of the mold do you always use a Preserver/Sealer on the vessel before adding wax/FO mixture to it for candle making? What would happen if I didn't seal the vessel before adding the wax/FO mixture?
Yes you must let the vessel cure properly and then seal it. Not sealing will allow the wax to seep out as concrete is porous.

Depends. Weigh it daily. Once it stops losing weight you should be good to go. I haven't tested EA on my formula but give it a go and test it out.

Thanks for the compliment. I go to my utility and add water then I move the remaining contents around with my spatula then I go into the very back of my basement where there is an
unfinished concrete floor and dump it there. I also sometimes toss it outside in a similar area. I hope that helps.
I want to try your mixture but first I have a question. Have you had any cracks on the container do to the candle heat. I can’t get cementall where I live but I m afraid to expand that money and cracks happen.also what size wick do you recommend. Muchas gracias
I did some preliminary tests with no issues and I have not heard of anyone having issues. You will need to test though as all cement and plaster are not created equal.

Great question. You don't necessarily need more said BUT... It does work if you add more sand and less plaster. However, it changes the water as well. I am working on a new formula now and will put something together with the adjustments. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the compliment. As long as you seal them you should be fine. Remember cement and plaster are porous so you will need to seal them to keep the contents from seeping out.

@@staceyjizzaine Obviously I am not in Europe and hopefully someone from Europe chimes in but if you get a Plaster of Paris and a cement that is made for high traffic areas you should be fine. Hope that helps.
Thank you for the video. Using this recipe, do you have to wet cure the vessel for a few days or can I just seal it once it's dry? I ask because I use a formula of Portland cement, waterproof cement and sand to make my vessels. When they dry, I submerge them in water for 72 hours. The vessels are strong but kind of heavy.

Thanks for the lovely comment and hello from the US... Here is what I suggest... If you know your vessel is larger or smaller than mine use a number 50 or 100 grams above that to see where you are at. Then scale back accordingly. You can also add water to your vessel and weight it to get an idea of how many grams you might have to use. Try it and let me know how it goes.

Will be trying this with my Quickrete Mortar Mix (sand and cement - no gravel) as Quickrete takes FOREVER to dry and I often crumble my pieces because I can't wait. Hoping this will speed up the drying process to say 24 hrs... Based on your calculations, I will try 50/50 and go from there. Thanks for the video :)

How have you made out? I tried the same mixture tonight, unmolded at the 2hr mark without any colour additives. I feel like it will take ages to cure?
So other cement can be used if we haven’t got that type off cement that’s in the title and when using this what seal would you use thanks
Check out my sealant videos that will help you greatly. I use ESF and that works great. I have even used it on my formula and it is amazing. Here is my formula with ESF. instagram.com/p/Cq8LtJhMocJ/. Cement can vary from location to location so you have to buy something that you think will work and test it. I wish I had a more solid answer but unfortunately all of these products are too different to give you a solid answer.

You should. Just make sure to test it first.

You are very welcome. I’m not 100% sure but I would give it a try. Not all plaster nor cement is the same so you might need to test a couple of them first. Let me know how it goes.

I have never had success without sand and plaster. Sand strengthens the vessel and plaster adds more binding to it.

Good video Jai, would have liked to see a cost breakdown off what you used compared to the cementall. Perhaps in a future vid.
That is a great idea. I am assuming you saw my cost breakdown video for concrete jars... And... I hope it's obvious I use Cement All because it's easier and more cost effective for me to use. With that said, I would estimate that the cost of these vessels would go up approximately 50 to a $1 more per vessel. However, if I really looked I could find competitive prices to lower my cogs. Thanks for the video idea.

I am actually editing a video on 5 alternatives to creating concrete vessels and jesmonite is one of them. I haven't used it as much as some other TH-camr's on here. Check out Claire’s Crafty Corner. She does some awesome work on the product. Hopefully you can get it... If you can it's just as easy as Cement all. Hope that helps.

Great question. Think of cement as the glue and sand as the strength. Added together with water and you get concrete. Without sand your vessel will not be strong.

If you don't have the right formula anything can happen. It's all about having the right mix.

Hey Jai, I have a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer... I just got an order of Hydro-stone in yesterday from Canada and OMG I LOVE THIS STUFF, but I have noticed that there are apparently two different Bags that it comes in, one has all dark green printing and one has green and red printing on the bag but they both say Hydro-stone, so is there any difference in the formula at all? They show an all green bag online but they sent the red and green bags. My other question is does Hydro-stone require a water bath to cure? Thanks for any info!
I believe there is a regular and super strength hydrosotne. Either one is fine. No need to water bathe.

People use the formula all over the world. Some people have great success and others not. Try it out and test it thoroughly.

@@austinrossi De nada. Estoy presentando un video sobre los selladores esta semana. Sin embargo, lo mejor que puede hacer es encontrar un sellador que deseas probar y llamar al fabricante. Pregúntales si el sellador es resistente al calor, de baja o nula toxicidad y si creen que es bueno para los vasos de de concreto. Después, pruébalo por ti mismo. ¿Eso tiene sentido?

Hello! Thank you for the amazing video.🎈I did ithe pots and i bath them for 24 hours. How long do i have to let them cure before i put the sealer and the soy wax?
I let mine cure for 3 days. Best thing to do is weigh them daily until you see the weight is consistently the same. If you don't have a scale check out the description and I share the scale I use. I hope that helps.

@@anjukhanna946 Curing of concrete is defined as providing adequate moisture, temperature, and time to allow the concrete to achieve the desired properties for its intended use. Weigh your pots everyday. The day they don't decrease in weight is the day you can start to seal them.

I used plaster of paris for this video to show that you should be able to use pretty much anything. I have tested it in a candle without issues. However, not all plaster, sand, cement nor water are the same so your results might vary. I also used regular play sand. Hope that helps.

Yes. All of these vessels are porous and need a sealant.

I see from your total coast video that a vessel made from cement all costs .72 cents. How does this compare & do you prefer using this over cement all?
For me it’s more cost effective to use Cement All. However I prefer Hydrocal which is featured in my Cement All alternatives video.
@@upvibecandle I watched that one also. I’ve watched several today 🤷♀️ As someone contemplating making candles, to lower the initial start up cost, it seems more prudent to use a substance that you can demold in 30 minutes vs 3 hours. I’m shocked by the price of some of these molds 😳

How much black pigment should I add if I want it to be black?

Ok I sure hope I get a response 0:04 0:04 answer from you oh and by the way I love watching your videos you crack me up.ok so today I followed to the T on this recipe everything came out really good except the bottom of my mold after releasing it from the mold the bottom was all rough it's like the sand settled and it wasn't smooth what's going on please? Oh and by the way I use hydrocal cause it's at the top of the list as far as strength plus it's all I had at the time, I'm a potter and I make my own molds.....hope to get some kind of answer.

Great video, thanks for this. Can I ask why plaster of paris is added, is it to make the vessel lighter? I would've thought the plaster would decrease strength of the concrete (cement/sand) mix. Thanks
Thanks. Plaster adds more binding to the mixture. Keep in mind that not all cement and plaster are the equal so it all depends on what you buy. Even plaster of Paris in one country isn't quite the same in another.
I think plaster is for to make it dry faster.

Clean sand. If your local hardware store has sand I would get it from there.

I water bathe them for 24 hours but only when I create with this formula and not cement all.

I'm curious, have you weighed these vessels to see how much moisture is lost using this formula during the curing process VS using Cement All?
For me, when using Cement All for certain vessels, they'll lose sometimes close to an ounce in moisture.
Also, how cost effective is this when compared to Cement All? How many vessels do you think you could create?
Have you burned the entire vessel yet? How did it work out since the bottom 1/3 of the vessel becomes the hottest?
Those are excellent questions. Let me first say that I created this video for those who don't have access to Cement All so that they too have a way to create vessels. I found that I was able to create a strong demoldable vessel without using Cement All. With that said, I ran some basic tests to test the strength and durability of the vessel after sealing it. I did a nearly 10 hour burn with no issues but I didn't run a power burn. In regards to cost, Cement All is a cheaper option however, like I said above this video is really for those who don't have access to CA and to be fair I bought the smallest portions which are never cost effective. In regards to moisture I didn't test how much moisture was lost. I did test it out in the Cement All vessel which was cool but I do know that plaster dries much faster than cement, hence the 30 minute demolding. One can assume that the NO Cement All vessel should lose moisture faster than the CA vessel but that is a test for another time.
@@upvibecandle I completely understand the reason for using this formula as CA isn't available for everyone. I like the idea of how white the vessel is... But I'm not sure how cost prohibitive it is? I'll have to calculate that, I guess since I can make a CA vessel for about 50 cents. 🤷

Let me say I can buy a 55lb bag of CA for $24.
I can also buy an 80lb bag of white cement for $14.
Sand I can get for $75 (75lbs)
and I can get Plaster for $90 (75lb).
That totals $179.
Let's assume all my NON Cement All items were 80lb bags.
Now the percentage of 55 out of 80 is 68.75%. Let's round that up to 70% because my brain is starting to hurt. LOL!!!
So, 70% of $179 is $125.30.
Like I said Cement All is much cheaper... HOWEVER for those who can't get Cement All I am sure they could add the extra cost into their sales to offset the difference.
Phew! Hopefully that is all correct... Anyway, that was a lot of Math for Saturday morning. LOL!
I will disagree with the cost-effectiveness here. You can use the cheapest building plaster, cement and sand to do this. I pay less than 10 us dollars for 50 lbs bags of the three. Quite a few vessels to get out of this. It doesn't have to be plaster of Paris

No!!! Do not add glue at all.
I add a spoonful of PVA to my concrete for my small sculptures. Builders often add PVA to their concrete mix.

Thanks for the videos!! I tried this last night. This morning it still not dry. 😥 I used white masonry cement, plaster, water, coloring. I probably need to stick with cement all.
If you have access to Cement All then just use that. However, if your vessel seems wet it has too much water. This formula is fast drying and should be able to be demolded in a half hour. Keep in mind not all cement, plaster nor sand is the same... so depending on the products you use you will see varying results.

I made exact same mix, but did not even get the chance to pour it in the mold. I added 2-3 times more water, but still it was hardening in seconds. I don't know what the problem is...
That's frustrating for sure. Try half water to whatever your total amount of mixture is. So if your total is 300 grams then do 150 grams of water. It's fast drying but shouldn't harden to the point of not being able to add it to the bowl. Let me know how it goes.

Do you know the ratios instead of the measurements? I have a 4.7in x 6.9in mold.
If you are using Cement All it’s a 4 to 1 ratio.
@@upvibecandle no, no cement all. The mix you're showing here. I understand probably it's 2 parts plastet to 1 part cement 1 part sand. The water is what throws me off

The pieces were cold and humid to the touch. What else could it be, too little cement? 😅
