Being that there is plaster inside I do not. However, if you are dealing with a formula without plaster you should test your work by both water bathing them and not. If you find you are successful without water bathing them then skip that step. Hope that helps.

Quick question Jai: After waiting 3 hours and demoulding your jars, do you need to cure them for certain amount of days before using them?
Are they air cured or water cured?
Most concrete planters/pots/jars tutorials I have seen, recommend soaking the jars for 1 to 3 days to let them cure and prevent cracks.

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Concrete takes 28 days to fully cure just so you know. 3 hours is dry to demold. That's called water bathing. You have to determine for yourself if you need to do that. Watch this video to see what I mean. th-cam.com/video/dt4B7Zbm0PE/w-d-xo.html.

I tried today, I have already unmolded.
I thought it was going to be complicated to fill because I don't have the vibrating machine and surprisingly it's even easier than with a more liquid texture and there are fewer air bubbles due to its thickness.
However, the ships are less white than with a higher rate of plaster, I would have to find a whiter construction sand because for the moment I use sand for children.
I have a shell mold that I never managed to unmold, it always breaks when I unmold, I had a lot of hope with this ratio, unfortunately, it broke again and I have a cutting holder mold that I didn't manage to fill due to the shape of the mold and the texture of the mixture, next time I will add more water.
I'm going to let it dry to see if it whitens a little more and test its resistance.
Ah yes, one more thing, the working time of the material is more forgiving, the other formula was drying even faster.
I want to say that I'm a beginner, I've only been experimenting for 2 weeks.
and in the video if I understand correctly, the water ratio is 25% on the overall weight of sand, plaster and cement and I understood that we could go up to 35%, is that correct?
I wanted to thank you Jai for your work and your beautiful energy, your videos helped me a lot to start.

What country do you live in? You might consider my course on making concrete candle jars. I have a group where I can dive in and help with a much more detailed approach. th-cam.com/video/eKemvMD-C24/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WGDISCFOfrsu-waV

I’m in New Zealand, so the idea of making your recipe that doesn’t contain Cement All is a HUUUUGE bonus as we don’t have it here! Will have a looksie at your link, thank you kindly🙏🏻

Much appreciated, thank you. One more question… I’m (hopefully) making concrete cover pots for houseplants rather than candle making, would the same rules apply for what I’d be learning?

The creation of the vessels is exactly the same. Although the application would be the same, your preferred sealant would be different.@@kazrynthomson

That is correct. If you don’t use white you will need to add titanium dioxide to whiten it.

It seems you are trying to criticize me and my work or possible you are trying to make a joke. Maybe both??? I can't quite tell. So, you know I normally don't respond to people who do that but I think you have a valid point that might not be clear to you and so for this reason I will elaborate.
This video says no CEMENT ALL. It does not say No Cement. There is a HUGE difference. Take a look at the thumbnail.
Cement All is an all in one concrete mix that you just have to add water to make concrete.
Unfortunately many people all over the world can't get this product and they need and want ideas on how to make concrete candle jars without Cement All. This video does exactly that. However, in order to make concrete you need cement which is an ingredient in both Cement All and Concrete.

Cement and Cement All are way TWO different things. Tell me you’re the slowest of your family without telling me

WHY? Why not just use Cement-All?
