Conceptually every song he writes is his perspective so it’s impossible for any songwriter to write beyond what’s they themselves feel. That’s on a macro scale. On a granular level John felt his ire in that song, while mentioning Paul iconography, were really about his own human emotions. They were close as brothers and family is complex. He was certainly owning up, he printed his lyrics on his album and gave candid interviews at the time. He then later reflected and realized it was about him. I know I have said nasty stuff that was a cover for my own feelings.
