Being 84, Ringo looks, speaks and MOVES amazing.
He's 83. That explains it.
Amazingly 😁
Dan Rathers not doing so bad himself!
I find it hard to believe that just because it says this was put out an hour ago, this is Ringo in 2024. He really looks too good. Every 83 yr old woman wants to know his secret.
They drink the blood of sacrificed children, plus he colours his hair.
Ringo is about the music, not about his ego, he deserves all the success he has had in his career.
Go Bongo!
The guy is a fraud and a sell out
@@bieituns and you are? :D
Cool as fuck
He also quit the band first out of any of them
Some years ago as Ringo was being interviewed about joining the Beatles he said he was really happy about it because he was
an only child and now he had 3 brothers. He knows what's important in life.
Of course they didn't. They're British. 😂 I think it was good old-fashioned driving each other to be their best, like any great band...
Ringo sets the tone for the human race. Why can't all people talk like him, humble, gracious and inestimably understated.
❤❤
And all I have to do is act naturally. Thank you, Mr S.
Paul was also rather humble - despite his fame, he lived down the road from me. He sent his kids to the local state school, and often picked up clothes in charity shops.
What an immensely likable human being that also just happens to be a Beatle.
Yes! the phrase that comes to my mind to describe him is "down to earth." That's probably why he seems to have had the least trouble in life, post-Beatles.
@@ordinarypeople20 He did have a pretty rough patch during his Harry Nilsson period, but survived, unlike Harry.
@@jeffy9145 Oh, that's right.
@@jeffy9145 He also dodged being married to a narcissist, unlike Paul and his wretched ex Heather Mills and Yoko who thought she was the Fab 5th.

Ringo is incredibly articulate. What a fine interview. He is humble and disarming. I love it when he says, "I'm a band guy."
He was "a really useful" narrator on Thomas and Friends.
And yet he was the "starr" of every Beatles film.
In the north of englad especially manchester and liverpool big heads get brought down
Ringo is the man. Great interview. I could listen to Ringo talk all day. He is a great human being.
He can even make a train sound good!
Ringo said, "I'm a band guy", I had a tear in my eye. I have seen the All Start Band three times, he is a band guy!
Ringo at 84, he looks and sounds great, the Beatles Forever, Spectacular music for the ages and all time!! :-) ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ New Orleans
Dan is 92 and you wouldn't know it!!!
He is not quite 84. He will be 84 in July.
This man is so comfortable in his skin. He's been in the spotlight for 80 percent of his life. Being EXTREMELY famous is simply the reality of his life. He is extremely entertaining to listen to.
He's so comfortable in his own skin that he uses hair dye 😂
Still an English snot
Ringo too.
He’s a nitwit!!!!
@@ejr5480 Right, that's how he got where he is, by being a "nitwit", whatever that is. I bet you've done so much better with your brilliance.

If the world had more down to earth human beings like Ringo on this planet earth, the world would be a happier planet even with all his wealth he is a down to earth no airs and graces with him .His mum and dad brought him up well a fantastic human being and glad he came into the group. Lovely man keep good health Ringo
The fact that he didn't listen strictly to the drummer but to the whole thing makes him, as they say, a songwriters drummer. He knows what a song needs.
That was my favorite comment in the interview for exactly the reason you just gave.
that, to me, is what makes a musician a truly great musician
Amen
In an interview George Martin’s son said that Ringo played the song.
Wow. So Dan. Who told you we don't want your spin on politics today? Who told you you owe us? I'm afraid Dan, you owe us, the public. Have some balls and report on something that might just get you murdered. I mean you reported from Nam. Take a risk and speak your mind about what's going on. WE NEED REAL NEWS REPORTERS!!!!!
The Let It Be film made it ABSOLUTELY clear how talented Ringo was and how critical he was to the success of the Beatles. The film showed how CLOSELY he listened to ANYTHING being played around him and instantly began contributing a beat and ADJUSTING that beat as he heard one of the other three experiment and alter what they were trying to achieve. If you were sitting in a room trying to quickly stumble on to a song, there was NO better drummer to have in that room than Ringo, who could do exactly that for HOURS effortlessly and develop perfectly suited drum parts to support the song. Much respect...
You describe it perfectly. And I think he seemed to do it all so effortlessly that a lot of people underestimated him. He truly did have a gift.
This is so perceptive of you, brother. Thank you for this insight.
I never thought that he was a good drummer at all. But then I listened to what drummers said, of which I knew nothing, and realised that simply because he doesn't seem to dominate or come over in the song, is what makes him a superb drummer.
⭐
If Pete Best had stayed they would have broke up mid 60s & Pete was as good as Ringo was at beginning but had no charisma, sri Pete. They all bounced off Ringo & he made no waves & was just a conduit & became a great drummer. So many people were critical in their story, from family, Brian Epstein, George Martin & recording engineers & Mr Abbey Road. Take anyone out & it be a whole different story.
I saw Ringo and his all-star band 2 yrs ago. He still has it!
0:40 It's funny to hear Ringo call Paul the "workaholic" of the band". Ringo is STILL touring! I had the pleasure of seeing him and his All-Star Band just last year....Amazing. He donates his portion of the souvenir sales to charitable causes as well. Ringo Starr is an amazing man that also fits the mold of a "workaholic".
Yes...I have seen the All Starr band twice, both times at Univ. Amphitheater in L.A. Once his other drummer was Ginger Baker of Cream, so you know there'd be no way I'd miss Ringo & Ginger drumming together on Sunshine of Your Love. I'd like to see him take the young drummer Sina on one of his All Starr tours. The 2 times I saw him in L.A, a drummer and host was Sheila E.....another great drumming talent.
Ringo is a class act. He is such a great drummer. God bless him 🙏
Great drummer? Behave
Great ? Naw he doesn't know how to do drum fills he's good at keeping the beat but there's far more better drummers out there than him
Absolutely
@@garethsavin4464 One of the greats. Not one of the best, but he never tried or wanted to be.
@@garethsavin4464yes, he is. Listen carefully to “A Day in the Life”.
Ringo was always laid back and level-headed...always ready to play drums to a song. Ringo, you are a class act.
A must for good people who want to know the truth 👉The Connections (2021) [short documentary] 🌳
Well, he was the 1st one to quit The Beatles during the white album sessions. The others had to plead with him to come back. McCartney had to play the drums on "Back in the USSR" because Ringo had walked out... Given the right circumstance, Ringo was as hot headed as the rest of them.
Everyone loves Ringo. What a nice personality and magnificent drummer.
Ringo Starr comes across as a genuinely decent, grounded chap you'd love to meet. You get the impression, if he had the time, he'd be so interesting to talk to. What a Starr!
and not only that, but he'd happily have a chat to you, to me or anyone who approached him
Interesting to hear Ringo say that he didn't listen to the drummers specifically, but the music as a whole. Maybe that's part of the reason why he serves the music so well in a band. He's listening to the whole thing. A very musical drummer.
I thought the same.
When he said "I'm a band guy", I thought that's pretty much the foundational principle that drives everything he plays.
Ginger Baker, similarly, was a real and complete musician.
He mostly sucked!
good point.
@@maximilliancunningham6091 Baker is a very talented drummer, but a very unpleasant individual. When he was in Cream he regularly reduced Eric Clapton to tears by brawling with Jack Bruce.
Ringo Starr is the epitome of charm and grace. Lots of respect and love for him.
Indeed
What I find worldly is 4 very very young boys with "just" A tiny drum kit, 3 guitars and a harmonica, along with some amps with tubes in them created those sounds that will never be replicated again. Simply Amazing, timeless.....
Their voices and harmony was awesome as well as their creativity in supporting the group effort. Rare talent indeed.
It almost breaks my heart about the differences they battled. They didn't hate each other, they were battling personal choices.
@@williameggleton414 Imagine if John had never met Yoko. Bad personal choice by John, for sure.
Well, John Lennon's one of my favorite human beings and so is Yoko.

Wow, I hope I'm that fit and sharp at 77. I bet he lives another decade or more! Loved this Beatle...such a nice down to earth guy, too. His drumming is just now becoming appreciated the way it always should have been.
And you stop and consider he was ill as a child. Looks great now. He looks younger than Paul. IMHO
He's not 84 yet.
He was 77 during this interview. It is from 2018
One of the greatest lives ever lived.... Love you Ringo!
legend, met him twice, ultra nice & humble guy. great he is still around.
Dan Rather’s reaction to Ringo’s last story sums up the overall mood of this interview perfectly. One of my fave Ringo interviews ever!
I met Ringo backstage about 10 years ago. What a treat. He was so cool.
You look great Ringo! Love u! Nice to see u!
"I'm a band guy." That sums Ringo up pretty much. He knows his place, he's not a showboat like Buddy Rich or Gene Krupa. And he didn't try to be like other drummers. Then again, being the Beatles' drummer worked out pretty well for him, why should he be what he's not?
Billy Joel really
⭐
A band fired me for growing tomatoes while playing drums...a skill that took me over 3 1/2 decades to master.
Ringo was in the Beatles, and he is still humble about it. I'st so far out. He was the backbeat of the 60s.
A lot of people underestimated Ringo, but he was the solidest beat master of his era and later too. His timing was always perfect, his beat driving the music along. He’s a nice bloke too. What a legend.
I always loved Ringo's voice..some of my favorite all times songs are sung by Ringo.."don't pass me by" , "octopuses garden", their Perkins cover of "matchbox" " with a little help from my friends" ,etc..I'd love those songs even if they weren't the beatles..God bless Ringo..Paul too..glad they're still with us..like family almost..
Thank you RINGO for saying that Paul got you guys going! I've been saying that since the band stopped touring.
I've heard Ringo say that before. It's really nice to give Paul that credit. People criticize Paul for being bossy, but as Ringo said if Paul didn't call them to work they would just be sitting in the garden. Paul is like that classmate who begs everyone to work on the group project while everyone is playing Call of Duty.
@@TomCruz54321 I think they might have stayed together if they'd taken more time off between albums. There was no reason to do three albums in a one-year time span. It's not like the public was going to forget THE BEATLES. Had I been John, I'd have told Paul if he wanted to work so badly, he could do a solo album. Meanwhile the others could get a well-deserved rest and time away from each other. "See ya in six months, Paulie!"
Without Lennon, there are no Beatles !! maybe if they would have taken a break from each other once in a while they might have lasted longer than 1970. Yes the Beatles are the greatest band of all time and have Timeless Classics that will be talking about 200 years from now but I will emphasize it was John who got the Beatles back together twice: once after their first disastrous trip in Hamburg and after 1966 when Lennon admitted he missed working with the other four after he got done finishing filming How I won the war.

Need a whole season of this, man. Ringo is the king!
“Rain” is often my favorite Beatles song, because it shows off all their best. Beautiful singing harmony, a strumming guitar not showing off, some great bass by Paul, and maybe the best drum track in all of Rock & Roll. That one, and Ticket To Ride. No Ringo, no Beatles.
Drive My Car.
@@razorsedge7100 You got me there. That was the first track on the first album I ever owned. I assumed all music in the world was going to be that good.
And “She said she Said”
Well, actually Ticket to ride drum part was composed by Paul McCartney
@@rupert2578 Interesting note. What makes the TTR drum part stand out is the slightly off-beat part, probably caused by a left- handed drummer playing on a righty kit. Could have been Ringo or Paul, but either way, it works so well.
I could listen to Ringo forever, no ego, but he has oceans of Charisma. ❤
No ego? He was the 1st one to quit the band. He walked out because he thought he wasn't getting as much recognition as the others. He had an ego alright. A nice guy, no doubt, but not as easy going as his image would have you believe.
@@johnc3403That’s not true… he felt like he wasn’t playing well and the other three were icing him out and getting along fine without him, etc. Paul’s lady fling at the time said Paul felt guilty for being “too hard” on Ringo and was being moody and critical-which is a whole other story because Yoko being around drove Paul nuts! So one day Ringo left for a much needed two week vacation and actually thought about quitting but came back (thankfully!)

Ringo was always an underrated drummer. Him and George did so much for the group that sometimes seems to get lost. George had an insane level of output that was suppressed by John and Paul as well. Some of the best "Beatles" stuff was Harrison songs that came out after the Beatles broke up.
According to George, only in the later years he wrote more songs, I wouldn't call it an insane amount.
@@jimcoleman598he was an integral part of the whole. I do get your point. It is refreshing to think how a couple George songs are part of the tapestry of music we would call timeless. While My Guitar and Something…..two incredible pieces of music. Shalom

for me it was the movies. He was such a natural performer, but at the same time always humble. Always the butt of the joke, taking abuse, being chased around for his ring, and consistently had the funniest lines. Even in Yellow Submarine when it wasn't really him, they kept that authentic.

Sir Richard is such a treasure. 🫶🏼
I liked that cool little tidbit about the way he'd listen to music in his youth. He'd let the *_whole song_* wash over him (just like most of us do), rather than just doing what one might _expect_ a drummer to do - namely, focus solely on the drum parts. And this is part of why he's so *_revered_* - he's always looking at the "big picture" - looking for what will best *_serve the song._* Respect.
God Bless Ringo.
