The touchdown pass to Musgrave where no one was within 20 yards of him is the exact same play Kyle Shanahan ran against LaFleur in San Fran in the playoff with Rodgers under center and the result was the exact same result! LaFleur actually ran that play in the regular season but Love was pressured and threw and incomplete pass but Musgrave was as wide open in that moment as he was in Dallas.
That play was a staple of Mike Shanahan's offense way back in the 90s with Shannon Sharpe. Packers ran it week 1 vs the Bears too. Love fumbled the snap but was still able to complete the pass. Unfortunately Musgrave tripped before reaching the endzone. Thats the context for why Lafleur said "And Musgrave stayed on his feet!" in the post game locker room speech sunday night lol
I think Musgrave caught that ball then fell down at about the 5 or 6 yard line. MLF mentioned that in the locker room post game and the team cheered. Maybe you are thnking of a different play than the one I remember though. Go check out game one against the Bears. Go Pack Go!
Troy Aikman I am 70 years old Cowboys fan I have the most respect for you specially as a signal parent you are a good man Buy the way I Muslim and love football
The root cause of problems at the Cowboys has always been Jerry Jones. He tries to control the football side even though he is not experienced enough to do that. Jerry has made the team into a marketing machine & he should stay focused on that. But get a good coach & let the guy do his work

As a Niners fan, I've always "hated" the Cowboys but Troy Aikman is awesome and in my very humble opinion, underrated as a QB. Amazing talent on the field and calls a very unbiased game in the booth. You can tell how much respect #8 has for the sport of football.
I don’t like Stephen A take on the Cowboys most of the time but bringing Troy Aikman on, got me to listen… heartbreaking loss to the Packers has just shocked me…
This Packer fan did not watch Cowboys, only heard all the hype, but friends were telling me all year long that Cowboys did not beat any good teams they played, and San Fran had obliterated them. Packers were obliterated by Lions in GB in early season, but by Thanksgiving they (young team, many rookies) had improved so much that they went to Detroit and obliterated the Lions. The Packers are MUCH better (now) than their WIN/LOSS record indicates, and the Cowboys are not as good as their record indicated. It is what it is, some people were not surprised that GB won the game, I was, but some people who had been watching the Cowboys closely all year long knew that they were not as good as the hype. --- Sometimes its good to get out of your bubble.
What I love the most about troy Aikman besides being a fellow OKIE is when he sees dallas doing what dallas does he's got no problem calling them out and saying WTF was that. Dallas has ripped my heart out for the last time and I'm guessing I'm not alone.
More than that. He knows what it takes for an individual to be successful. You have to look at the makeup of each individual player. Troy would do that. Unfortunately, the Jones do not want that
Troy Aikman is one of the most likeable, respected and unbiased people in the sports world. He tells it as he sees it, no favoritism or partiality. Just plain honest observations from a genuine, true football player's perspective. Professionalism at it's hest.
The worst part is how consistently talented the Cowboys have been since the Parcels days, yet they routinely shrink and underperform in the playoffs. Jerry Jones needs to hire a coach that can bring discipline and accountability to the team and Jerry needs to get out of the way.
Respectfully, is it possible that Cowboy fans (not all of course) yearly buy into hype--constant coverage on sports channels, pumping up modest things, etc.--creates higher than warranted expectations. As a non-Cowboy fan I regularly watch them and say--what is this yearly, constant, relentless build-up about?
@@gregcable3250 as a Cowboy fan I can say the Cowboys are such a tease. There are games where they play like they are a Super Bowl favorite, then other games where they lay an egg. For the last 12 years or so they have had really good talent on the team. They just falter in most big games, especially playoff games. They make so many mistakes, shooting themselves in their own foot. Coming into this playoff game they had won 16 straight home games. Then they play with no effort or urgency in their first playoff game. Very disappointing
Correct. Jerrah being Jerrah is a problem with no solution. Jerrah would have to cancel his stupid radio show and cede control to real football people. That will never happen.
As a die hard 30+ year Cowboy fan it was hands down the most embarrassing loss ever. Quinn had the defense looking like a pee wee team. Dak showed once again he couldn't handle playoff pressure and McCarthy play calling was awful. They looked completely unprepared and they embarrassed themselves, the star, the fans and the organization. Sad day to be a Cowboy fan. I can't speak for all fans but as for me. @@johanstinson no because there is no reason you should have one the game. Dallas lost that game because of Dallas and calm down you gonna lose Sunday. Sports Networks also put the blame on Dallas so it ain't just fans.
Love the fact that Stephen A. addressed the Aikman and Buck combo. It seemed Monday Night Football was on life support prior. Troy and Buck have made it credible again.
Troy had atleast 4 pro bowl seasons left in him. Always was resentful of him retiring early. He was my fav QB as a kid(90’s). I understood why(retiring early) though.
Too many concussions. When he got knocked out of the 93 NFC championship he was asked where he was and he said Henryetta, Oklahoma, where he played high school ball.
What we saw from Jimmy during halftime was real. That was the last great coach of Dallas speaking truth with intensity. He knows what it takes to win. Troy knows this as well. If Jerry really wants to win a Superbowl before he dies, he needs to make Troy an offer he can’t refuse to come in and be a real GM and make all hiring and football decisions. Unfortunately, that will never happen, but I would absolutely love to see it.
This is why Stephen A is the best in the business. What a fantastic interview. The man asked all the questions we wanted answers to. you're the best at it Stephen A. I love your work.
Stephen A did admit on First Take, a few months ago how he actually read the comments from the fans and he has taken some tips and advice, when people in the comments, recommend something for his show. He also said he didn't agree with getting rid of Molly as we all know the comments were brutal towards her 😅
He's already said it in the past and why I like him. "When it doesn't fix the problem, then you start at the very top" And I'm sure Jerry dislikes him more than anyone else for telling the truth.
Troy Aikman has always been well-liked as a person. At Dallas, in college (Oklahoma & UCLA) at his high school in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Dude has always been loved everywhere he's been.
Love that Troy was asked about CJ and the Texans. I think they may be the most dangerous team in the playoffs right now. They had ZERO expectations to be where they are now. Their season, regardless of how it ends now, has been great. There is still nothing expected of them and nobody around the NFL will see them as a collapse if they lose their next game. There are still no expectations for them as they move through the playoffs and all they have to do is continue to play fast, physical, and free. The only expectation for them is to continue to have FUN. CJ is the most exciting prospect to watch since TB and Peyton in the early 2000's!!!
I put C. J. In the category of young exciting QB’s to watch even if I am not particularly a fan of the team. BTW, I am a fan of the Texans. This includes Mahomes, Burrow, Purdy, Allen, Lawrence, Hurts, and I guess now I have to grudgingly (Ha) add Love to the list. They are all worthy of tuning in to watch. I respect their hard work to win and improve. I guess not all are so new and young anymore, but they all look like kids to this senior citizen. BTW again, it is surprising what is happening to Hurts and the Eagles. I don’t want the hated Eagles to win it all, but their and Hurts’ struggles are unexpected to say the least!
Troy does an excellent job in the broadcast booth these days and has for a long time, but I remember the first for few seasons, I was cursing at the tv at him for being an out and out homer and he wasn’t trying to hide it. That was easy as a Gmen fan but truth be told he’s excellent and impartial
If you think about it the Cowboys of the 90's were primarily built with the Walker trade and the Packers used Adams and Rodgers to get about the same draft haul.
I’m a huge Aikman fan and I like the way Stephen A. conducted this interview. This is one of the best interviews that I’ve seen Stephen A. do. No comparison to some of the horrible interviews he has done on First Take. I like the way he interviews on his Radio Show better. Very professional and has great points all while allowing Aikman to answer and give us his professional opinion. Both guys did great!!!
Matt Lafleur's gameplan was, "if we win the toss take the ball first." That's it. Maybe his plan was, "We have a shot because the pressure is on them." He didn't know they'd be in zone. He didn't know Lamb would start being emotional after one series without getting the ball. He didn't know Dak would come out flat and miss receivers.
The great thing about this offense is with all the presnap motions, playactions, misdirections, etc is it almost doesnt matter if the defense is in zone or not on some plays. With all the window dressing abd moving parts, somebody on the defense usually blows an assignment. Thats why they get guys so wide open so often. This scheme is like a machine when ran properly. Each play feeds into the next and before long the defense doesnt know what to do. Weve seen it 4 straight weeks now, all against top 10 defenses.
I mean Dak didn't. Lamb had two drops early and Cooks screwed up on a perfectly thrown deep pass...Other than the one pick six and another near pick Dak was pretty good this game..the issue was the defense
Outstanding. I love Troy. You Know His Dad did not want anything to do with him. Never went to any of his Games. When I think of Troy one word comes to mind. Perseverance. Out there. somewhere tonight a young Athlete with no support can think, if Troy did it, so can I
That, or, a real super-disciplinarian/accountability type head coach, like Harbaugh or Belichick. I agree that McCarthy isn't the answer to the Cowboys' problems.
Unfortunately the Cowboys won’t win another Super Bowl until after Jerry passes away…as others have said the one constant in the SB drought is Jerry. You have to admire his dedication and involvement in the team but as an owner he has to step away from controlling every aspect. If he would just watch the games and let the coaches and players do their jobs without him constantly looking over their shoulders I think they could win another SB. They definitely have the talent. But Jerry is always talking on radio shows and TV. He is always voicing his opinion. What other owner has a press conference outside of the locker room after home games?? It’s way too much pressure. You’d think after 28 yrs of the drought he could sit down with his son and say ok…who or what has been here over nearly 3 decades that could be the problem. It’s not players or coaches…there’s only one person…
That's the same way I feel about the Miami Dolphins. It doesn't matter if the coach, the players, and the owner are different, it's the same outcome each year.
Strahan nailed it. He feels Cowboys organization is like a broadway show with distractions and expectations that probably hinder the players from just playing football. JJ is the center of that. How many other teams have owners that is always heard and part of the news. Except for negative news lIke Tepper or Snyder only JJ
Dallas never changes formations, the rams admitted after they trounced Dallas in the playoffs that they knew every route/protection/scheme based on the formation. So stupid. Same story every year. It's like they don't scout themselves throughout the year. Imagine that! "OK guys, we're gonna memorize these formations and play calls, but then we're not going to make any changes throughout the year."
About Belichick going to Dallas. It looks like a good proposal on paper, but once you weight in the fact that Jerry wants to be the front face of the franchise at all times and not having signs of relinquishing his GM duty anytime soon, I doubt Belichick will actually work with that. It seems like Belichick would like to have not only coaching but also GM decisions in his control at all times. But at the same time, Dallas have shown a lack in the discipline department since they're one of the most penalized teams in the NFL this season (1st in total counts and 2nd in total yards). They could definitly use Belichick's strict coaching style to make it better.
Bill just wants to coach period. Bill already said he doesnt need to be in control of roster. Jerry and his scouts will pick players, Bill will coach them and get them to NFCCG.
Its a strange situation at Dallas. They simply go flat for some reason. I remember the Carolina Panthers went to Dallas to play them in either 2021 or 2022. The game was close in the first half but suddenly during the 3rd quarter the Cowboys developed a lot of momentum and by the first play of the 4th quarter the Cowboys went up 36 - 14. A twenty two point lead going into the 4th and poised to continue their momentum throughout the 4th quarter and simply blow the Panthers away. Dallas could have won the game by 35 or 40 points if their momentum continued. But suddenly the opposite happened. The Cowboys went totally flat and Carolina scored two touchdowns in the 4th and the Panthers only trailed 36 - 28 as the fourth went along. That score ended up to be the final score. Only an 8 point point margin separated the Panthers from the Cowboys. On top of that that was in Dallas too, an away game for Carolina. This tending of Dallas to go flat was apparent even one or two years ago. The Panthers came close to sending the game into overtime and even winning it. Its also interesting both Dallas and Philadelphia turned in bad performances on the opening playoff weekend losing handily to their opponents. During the season Dallas and Philadelphia could have been the top two playoff teams in the NFC and the NFC East was the most powerful division in the NFC during the regular season. Yet the results of their playoff games proved otherwise. Why they go flat is any one's guess. But its a consistent mystery stretching back a couple of years and most certainly since Jimmy Johnson left the team years ago. So being flat has been the story of the Cowboys 25 years or so and continued this past weekend.
I enjoyed his commentary tonight. He should do more talks with Stephen A Smith. Aikman is clear and concise, always on point, and straightforward. He understood Eagles fans frustration on MNF and made a point in the post game. That’s a color analyst. Troy isn’t afraid to be critical against the Cowboys and Dallas fans hate that. He’s the best in the business.
I was watching the halftime report, and when I saw Jimmy so fired up...I knew the cowboys gone messed it up....Jimmy was heated his other co-anchors were holding him back. That shows how much he loves the cowboys, that's dedication. Best of luck cowboys in the upcoming season, shake off this loss again...
As a DFW resident, IMO a Buffalo-Detroit Super Bowl is the only interesting option. To me that game would actually have some stakes. Imagine: 4th quarter, 1:20 left on the clock , all tied up, 4 and 10 at the opponents 40, two teams with everything to prove, a long history to overcome, and it all on the line. Anyway...
PRESSURE. Playing in Dallas since the 90’s dynasty takes a certain type of player. Social media now puts so much extra pressure that these young guys are freezing up in the big games.
Bill and Jim will not take the job in Dallas because of Jerrah. Kraft was hands off with Bill which is what Bill wants. Jim got run off by Jed so he will not accept another meddlesome owner. Jerrah will have to find another pliable HC who will let Jerrah be the biggest hat in the room.
I am a Packers fan and I like Aikman calling games. Joe Buck has to go though. LOL Hated Aikman when he was playng but as an announcer he does a pretty good job. I would like to know how he prepares for calling a game. After the game I can see most of the talking heads in sports media didn't really prepare based off the picks and pregame comments. If they did prepare they might have taken a moment to talk about Dallas going into the playoffs using 205 pounders at the off line LB postion a little suspect. Regular season you can get away with things you can't come playoff time.
As a lifelong 49ers fan, I’ve always intensely disliked “Americas Team”, but there’s no way to dislike Troy or Jimmy or Moose. Class acts and great to listen to.

Go Pack Go!
Truly an outstanding video….a pleasure to watch….the discussion and questions were spot on…..thank you both!!!!!!
Troy Aikman I am 70 years old Cowboys fan
I have the most respect for you specially as a signal parent you are a good man
Buy the way I Muslim and love football
I love Troy’s voice.
Also his command of language is impressive.
The root cause of problems at the Cowboys has always been Jerry Jones.
He tries to control the football side even though he is not experienced enough to do that.
Jerry has made the team into a marketing machine & he should stay focused on that.
But get a good coach & let the guy do his work
Nailed it
I don’t like Jerry. But didn’t he own the Cowboys when they won 3 Superbowls?
@@Wargasm54yes. Bob Kraft has owned the Patriots for their 6. Who’s the better owner, the one who everyone knows is the problem or the one you couldn’t pick out of a line up?

I used to get mad at Stephen A making his videos laughing at us but I can’t help to laugh with him now. I have no feelings anymore
It's just a show. He doesn't hate dallas
I am a big Cowboys fan, yet I enjoy Stephen A’s banter about putting down the ‘Boys. Like you say, I laugh at him and laugh with him sometimes. He puts on a good show with what he does. This here is a good journalistic work, though.
I know what you mean the cowboys let us down every year thinking there finally gonna get to the promise land
This was an incredibly well conducted interview. SAS was extremely friendly, light hearted, and made sure Troy was comfortable throughout the entirety of the interview all while not once interrupting him as well as asking him some great questions. This right here is top tier journalism. 👏🏼👏🏼
As a Niners fan, I've always "hated" the Cowboys but Troy Aikman is awesome and in my very humble opinion, underrated as a QB. Amazing talent on the field and calls a very unbiased game in the booth. You can tell how much respect #8 has for the sport of football.
I don’t like Stephen A take on the Cowboys most of the time but bringing Troy Aikman on, got me to listen… heartbreaking loss to the Packers has just shocked me…
I felt the same about S.A. until watching this video. I'm right there with you, shocking and heartbreaking loss.
Absolute excellent interview. Brilliant content and great articulation
I'm a cowboys fan, and I seen it coming. It was expected.
Rite....Why is it big deal if everyone says all Dallas does is Choke 🤷🏽♀️.,. WHAT IS THE BIG SHOCK🙄
Same here. Not surprised unfortunately
I did as well. It's all about the culture.
Garbage time Dak showed up like he always when trailing to elite team by 24+. Fun to see he still does that lmao
Same here. Unless I see a dramatic change, there will be no change!
Never say never Troy, I think he'd have a better than average chance of being a good front office guy and I'd love to see him get the opportunity.
Hey Stephen A. Thanks for this interview great show!!
In 28 years. Many coaching and Staffing changes. Many player changes. But one common denominator always stays.
The worst part is how consistently talented the Cowboys have been since the Parcels days, yet they routinely shrink and underperform in the playoffs. Jerry Jones needs to hire a coach that can bring discipline and accountability to the team and Jerry needs to get out of the way.
@@GameTime-yj6qv Yeah, but he won't.
@@scottdavidson526 Belichick or Harbaugh would be that type of head coach. Time will tell...
Very disappointing
troy is a legend
It's a culture issue in Dallas. I'm not sure the Cowboys have the will to make the changes which go much deeper than most realize.
Exactly all these different coaches that’s available and knowing that their style wouldn’t fit because Jerry won’t let it 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Correct. Jerrah being Jerrah is a problem with no solution. Jerrah would have to cancel his stupid radio show and cede control to real football people. That will never happen.
I think they may be . . . kind of like the New York Knicks. Winning would be a bonus, but the important thing is the show . . . maybe?
And ten dollar nachos or whatever the heck they charge at Jerry World now.

If changes aren't made I won't be watching any games. Can't keep pissing on me and tell me it's raining FIX IT!!!!!!!
Today has the been the first time I’ve allowed myself to watch or read any sports commentary since Sunday evening. I’m still gutted by the whole thing.

I expected a game not a sham. It's gonna take till August to shake this ick off. What. Is. The. Answer? That's the question. 😢😢😢
Lol. Cowboys fans still won't give GB any credit lol
@@johanstinson no because there is no reason you should have one the game. Dallas lost that game because of Dallas and calm down you gonna lose Sunday. If it were just because you played well McCarthy's head wouldn't be on the chopping block. Dallas hired him to take them further in the playoffs. Not win 12 games. Sports Networks also put the blame on Dallas so it ain't just fans.

Love the fact that Stephen A. addressed the Aikman and Buck combo. It seemed Monday Night Football was on life support prior. Troy and Buck have made it credible again.
Great interview. Love Troy Aikman. He is one of the great ones.
Troy still looks in incredible shape

Thanks for having the legend on today
Troy is a class act💥
He also said he didn't agree with getting rid of Molly as we all know the comments were brutal towards her 😅
The nostalgia is hitting hard.
Wholesome interview, Much Love 💜💛
Troy is a class act. IMO, Troy is the best analyst in the NFL.
Troy Aikman, is just trying to keep his cool but he’s right. It does not matter who the coach is.
He's already said it in the past and why I like him. "When it doesn't fix the problem, then you start at the very top" And I'm sure Jerry dislikes him more than anyone else for telling the truth.
Troy:. Great player, broadcaster, and person. Thanks for the memories!
Toned down Stephen A is so much more enjoyable imo
Fr
Troy Aikman has always been well-liked as a person. At Dallas, in college (Oklahoma & UCLA) at his high school in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Dude has always been loved everywhere he's been.
troy aikman as a gm would get it done 100%
Steven A is the man. On point especially with the last pieces of question.
Great interview Steve! Troy is one of the greatest 🤟🏽
Who is Steve? 😂

If you think about it the Cowboys of the 90's were primarily built with the Walker trade and the Packers used Adams and Rodgers to get about the same draft haul.
You can tell how much Stephen A respects Troy by how this interview was conducted. Focused, measured, and deference to the HOFer.
Whomp whomp
How did he not know, when everyone else knew? The Cowboys are who we thought they were, Dem Boys.
Nah his game plan was to run the ball and neutralize Micah
Much respect for Troy, Michael, Emmitt, the teams and Jimmy Johnson.
Outstanding. I love Troy. You Know His Dad did not want anything to do with him. Never went to any of his Games. When I think of Troy one word comes to mind. Perseverance. Out there. somewhere tonight a young Athlete with no support can think, if Troy did it, so can I
Thanks!
Jimmy was real in his reaction and we need that back in intensity that Jimmy brings
That, or, a real super-disciplinarian/accountability type head coach, like Harbaugh or Belichick. I agree that McCarthy isn't the answer to the Cowboys' problems.
Great interview! Aikman is a Champ. Pure Win
Being a Dallas fan since ‘77, this franchise needs a damn HC that will do exactly what Jimmy Johnson did at halftime
Great interview. Troy is very classy. One of the best ever!
Unfortunately men like Jerry live till they are 100 plus
Thanks for this great interview.
I told everyone jimmy johnson wasn’t playing he was dead serious…bring him back, that’s the fire they need!
Its been the pattern since Tony Romo to lose the first round of the playoffs, and has never stop..
They won vs Tampa Bay last year .. great take 😂
Aikman is always on point.

That's the same way I feel about the Miami Dolphins. It doesn't matter if the coach, the players, and the owner are different, it's the same outcome each year.
Aikman is on my short list of hands I’d love to shake. A living legend who tells it like it is.
I will take Troy right now to be our quarterback for the cowboys again. Watching Troy play for the Cowboys was a great time.

Great interview and interaction Stephen A. and Troy.
Strahan nailed it. He feels Cowboys organization is like a broadway show with distractions and expectations that probably hinder the players from just playing football. JJ is the center of that. How many other teams have owners that is always heard and part of the news. Except for negative news lIke Tepper or Snyder only JJ
Good point!
Stephen!!!!!!! Why can’t we see more of you like this than the over bombastic first take??
No showboating with Troy. He tells you what he thinks as clearly as he can. And he knows what he is talking about.
@@tjk9263which would be great because the Cowboys draft well. Just let Belichick handle the football side of things.
@@tjk9263 🤔that’s a good point
I would love to see Troy as the Cowboys GM, he is definitely open to the idea of becoming a part of football operations somewhere in the NFL.
Raised an Eagle fan, I've always loved Troy.
And the eagles fell apart
I was watching the halftime report, and when I saw Jimmy so fired up...I knew the cowboys gone messed it up....Jimmy was heated his other co-anchors were holding him back. That shows how much he loves the cowboys, that's dedication. Best of luck cowboys in the upcoming season, shake off this loss again...
One of the better Stephen A interviews.
Troy you are a champion off the feild too
As a DFW resident, IMO a Buffalo-Detroit Super Bowl is the only interesting option.
😂 stop
Wow, I really like the serious, respectful, not screaming “look at me” Stephen A. Great interview, by both of them.
Where's the podcast audio version of the show I can't find new episodes anymore, pass December 22 date
You can’t be Americas team if you haven’t won a Super Bowl in the last 10 yrs and in their case it’s been 30

If y’all wanna know why we have three of the greatest position players from the 90s and 3 Super Bowls …the Jimmy Johnson you saw at halftime is why….COACHING MATTERS
the reason the packers wide outs were wide open is because there are so many studs on that team. you can't cover all of them
