I do too Thomas. Dc4LIFE hit the nail on the head with this one. To me this was the greatest play in Dallas Cowboys history along with being the greatest game in Dallas Cowboys history! Hands Down! I still have that whole game on a VHS Video tape! GO COWBOYS!!!!!!
Yes. It did. I long for that type of team again for our organization. Hopefully 2021 will be the year. We have been waiting now for 26 years to win our 6th Super Bowl Championship. I pray to God that this year the wait will finally be over.
@Darrien Criner yes we can give him that much credit. How often did Romo have a great defense? Dude put up 500+ yards and 5 TD’s against Denver but the problem is Manning had similar numbers. Something that was all too common w our past defenses. The front office didn’t give Romo enough help
White to Pearson in the '80 playoff game vs Atlanta would be worth an honorable mention. 3rd and 20 vs Seattle-Romo to Williams as well. I only throw those out because so many others chimed in. Truth is, everyone could make a list but you did, and I'm thankin ya! Awesome job, Dallas Cowboys 4 Life!!
90s definitely the best, Romo always underperformed, just like Dak. Don’t find either one entertaining when they consistently didn’t/don’t get the job done when it matters.
I remember watching many of these live. The 2 that stick out most in my mind was the 1979 last season game victory, the pass to Hill which sent us to the playoffs and it was also Staubachs last career regular season game before he retired. The 2nd one was the pass to Harper in the 92 championship game. That was the play that sent us to the superbowl. I believe it was 1st down and Johnson called a real ballsy play there. I was shocked. That actually was the spark that created THE DYNASTY !
I wish the clip on the 79 throw to Hill showed the crowd's reaction at the end of the game. It was Skins' QB Theisman's birthday and the Cowboys fans sang "Happy Birthday" as the game ended with a Cowboys come-from-behind win.
I knew it would be Aikman to Harper in the coffin-nailing moment in the NFC Championship game in January of 93. It was such a big moment, the stakes were so crazy high, and that moment represented the exorcising of the demons of the 1981 season's NFC championship game when Montana beat them wish and prayer toss to Clark.
I love every play shown, and I think I may have watched every one at the time except the 1966 one. I'd just like to give kuddos to the game winning play I saw this past Sunday. A QB that nobody had confidence in other than his teammates, by the way making his first NFL start throws a perfect pass to a hurt Amari Cooper. I fell off the couch in joy and amazement.. Cowboys for life. GO COWBOYS !!!!
Aikman to Harper over the 9ers' Eric Davis, Novacek hurdling over some poor defenseless GB DB for a TD on Thanksgiving; Emmitt running over or thru half the Bears defense also on a Thanksgiving; Herschel Walker leaping over a pile of linemen for a TD on MNF v. NYG; Erik Williams man-handling Reggie White...So many great plays over the years. Thanks for the video!!
- White to Pearson late TD game winner (2nd White to Pearson TD in 4th Q) 1980 Playoffs v. Atlanta. - #20 belongs in Top 10. Staubach's last regular season TD & win, during all-time great game. - All-Time play that almost was: White to Pearson over the middle for 35 to mid-field, 1982 4th Q, NFC Title Game, the very next play after SF's The Catch. Only a handful of jersey stopped Pearson from scoring the winning TD and erasing The Catch from the history books.
Absolutely Danny White is not getting enough love. But why is Witten's helmet coming off a top 25 play? I mean really? Not a playoff game. It barely top 1000
The heartbreak of that SF game was that the very next play after the Pearson catch Danny fumbled the snap and SF recovered the football. And that was all she wrote. They only needed another 10 or 15 yards to get to field goal range and had plenty of time and 4 downs to do it in. Somewhere there is an alternate universe out there where Dallas kicked the game winning field goal with no time on the clock and went on to trounce Cincy in the SB that year. Makes me sad that I'm not living in that one...
Emmitt Smith's catch and run for a TD putting Dallas up in the 4th quarter 24 -13 against SF in 93 NFC title game (after the 92 regular season) which basically pretty much sealed the game and starting the 90s dynasty could also be on here...
Romo's game winner vs the lions in the playoffs would be nice to be in here. Also his 3rd and 20 play in Seattle against the prime legion of boom. Honorable mention dak to Beasley 2018 week 17. Still great vid though!
Another great moment was the TD pass to Drew Pearson that won the game vs the Falcons in the 1980 divisional round where we were losing 24-10 in the 4th quarter, final was 30-27!
Lot of great memories. I was blessed to be at several of these games. As a teen in the 70’s and playing High School football in Texas, Tom Landry and Roger Staubach were my heroes.
I'm an NFL East fan but Im not a cowboy follower but Redskin long time follower. But all through the years two of the men I've admired greatly was Roger Staubach and Tom Landry.I remember the redskin organization gave a recognition award to Tom Landry at a dinner ceremony in Washington D.C. Both men left a great legacy behing.I believe the cowboy organization should have called their stadium Landry stadium.Cowboys and redskins have had great games over the years.
Don't mean "football team"...uh I mean "Commanders"??? As a life long Cowboy fan from Dallas, I have always respected the teams of the NFC East...Especially the Redskins...they were always the greatest foes...win or lose, it was always a great battle...cowboys vs indians...but no more...I'm sad to see that the team changed the name...but I will still have respect...
Loved the vid, even if some favorite plays were missing. Point being, so many great plays, impossible to condense to 25. You have to do sequels to this. Brings back so many great memories. Big thumbs up!
So many memories. I love the Alvin Harper Slant catch in the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP game! Classic! However, I have 3 favorites: Monday night 2007 in Buffalo. After 5 Romo ints they still win on Nick Folks 53yd fg. Zeke breaks Steelers HEART AND BACK in Pittsburgh in 2013. And Dallas beats Giants in final seconds, Romo to Tony Curtis back left corner of the endzone.
That Dorsett 99-yard record will never be broken! It was set up when a punt was fumbled out of bounds at the one. And they did it with only 10 men on the field! Still lost the game though. ☹
this 2021 season for the cowboys has SO MANY of these level plays its amazing. just two off the top of my head are pollards 100 yard return and just last week against washington malik turners 61 yrd run.
That was a great play, I thought about it. Also thought about putting in the Cole Beasley catch vs giants, but i was mainly going for older games like the Super Bowls and playoffs. Pretty much the greatest moments in Cowboys history. Otherwise there would have been a lot of Dak and Zeke plays for sure.
@@DC4L99 yes! That Cole Beasley catch is the most amazing catch ever I don't care what everyone says about that comparative VERY EASY catch by the Odell guy.
DC4L!!!!!! That Aikman to Harper slant would be my favorite single play in Cowboys history, although that series by Emmitt Smith when he ran the ball down Buffalo's throat right into the end zone, sets off a Tsunami of goosebumps every time I watch it. Tony Romo's play against the Rams always gets me hyped... but I got to give it to LARRY ALLEN!!!!????" That has got to be the most spectacular athletic effort I've ever seen for a man his size, going from a standing stop, to full sprint to chase down that Saints LB and prevent a TD. The Top 10 is just pure joy to watch.
Awesome list and I was wondering where Harper's catch and run would be but I think I would change 1 and 3 and then it would be a perfect list. I also would have put Woody Dantzler's kickoff return against the Niners in there somewhere to.
Marion Barber's two yard run is one of the 15 greatest runs in NFL history, it should have been higher on this list. That's my only quibble. Good to see a clip of Bullet Bob Hayes in here.
Glad to see #9 involved in many of these - Romo was the man and please take the Dak play out of the mix and add in Danny Whites throw against the Falcons in playoffs 👍🏻
Thanks🙏🏻for sharing! Assumption is these are in no specific order of merit, as they only have a number associate with the play, as play #25 has equal merit as play #5?
Gots to be honest. Roger will forever be and many, many others favorite player of all-time. I've remained a cowboy fan for that fact and that alone. When our #12 gets drafted to Big League in the sky (Don't worry, he'll be starting). My patience with the current ownership will have run out if there are no championship runs.
As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I really enjoyed this video. I think that the Hail Mary should be #1, and the Staubach to Hill TD in 1979 should be higher - it was a huge game, gave Cowboys the division title and knocked the Redskins completely out of the playoffs.
Romo game winning throw to Demarco at the end of the 2013 season against the redskins. I think he hurt his back during that game. Romo was such a gamer.
I’m a a Romo homer all day long but there were too many big consequential plays during the 90s to leave off this list. Although Romo seems like the cowboys quarterback I’d most like to have a beer with and I really enjoyed watching the Romo era cowboys, I think leaving off some of the 90s big plays during division battles especially was a big miss here.
At 10:23, that play almost sealed the game for Dallas as they would score a touchdown I believe by Kelvin Martin a play or two after that one. It would have been neat to see Harper run all the way for a touchdown. Until Martin scored the touchdown after that, I was pretty nervous watching this game towards the end.
Good list, but how about: 1994 NFC Div PO Aikman 94yd TD pass to Harper. 1977 Dorsett 84 yard run vs Eagles. 1977 Dorsett 84 yard run vs Cardinals. Staubach to D. Pearson... Too many to list.... lol
How about them Cowboys!! I remember watching all those games even Roger Staubach's Era. I've been a fan since I was born in 65' and even went to their last game at the Cotton Bowl before they went to Texas Stadium. When they use to black out the games because the tickets sales didn't fill the stadium, my family went to Lake Texoma to watch the Cowboys. There may bepeople with more merchandise than me, but I've got a bigger heart than they do. GO COWBOYS GO!!
Could have had Kelvin Martin's 1991 punt return against the Eagles in Philly. This sealed the victory and got the Cowboys back into the playoffs after a long absence.
The number one pick was spot on. I had that at number one before I watched this. It came at a time when the game was close and hard fought on the road just in time to suck the air out of Niners' lungs. One of my all time favorites! If you want to be the best you have to dethrone the best and that is what they did on this day. Packers never dethroned the Cowboys (so we will put an asterisk next to their Super Bowl), only the official did in the game against the Niners when Deion interfered with Michael Irvin.
My favorite Dallas Cowboys play is in the 2007 NFC divisional game, when Tony Romo threw a perfect pass to RW McQuarters in the end zone to end the Cowboys playoff hopes against the New York Giants. 🇺🇸😎
There should be an * next to the ‘Hail Mary’ game for the penalty that wasn’t called on Drew Pearson. And before anyone starts disagreeing with me, he admitted it.
Aikman to Ismail should be at or near the top. The story line of that game was compelling. Dallas was 21 points down to the Redskins in the 4th quarter. On the road against their nemesis. Aikman engineered the TDs to force OT and then that bomb to Rocket Ismail through blown coverage to win the game. That was 20 plus years ago and I still remember scraping my knuckles on the ceiling from jumping in ecstasy. Probably my all time favorite play along with the 1979 game (Staubach to Hill) that sent the Cowboys into the playoffs as NFC East Champs and eliminated hated Washington.
@@DC4L99 I remember when that happened I had a few Steelers fans as friends and they all said he got paid to do that it was a setup. Meaning O'Donnell the quarterback for the Steelers
Matthew W Yeah a lot of people say that, but they forget Cowboys held the lead the entire game. Only reason Steelers came close was because of poor officiating and a surprise onside kick, that made it a one possession game. Cowboys were the better team, and regardless Neil O’Donnell wasn’t a very good qb anyways 😂😂😂.

The '72 game against SFran was one of the greatest comebacks of all time...ushered by the one and only Roger Staubach.
Love the Larry Allen run down tackle
Top 10 defensive plays ever!
Randy White had a similar tackle that didn't get mentioned. I think DC4life put more into recent teams
That play hits even harder now.
All heartbreak since Larry Brown's INT.

Can't 4get the 101 yd kickoff return for a TD by Alexander Wright in '91 against the Falcons
My favorite Aikman to Ismail in OT for game winner @ the Redskins

The ball was inches from the goal line. Truly the longest run ever.
The run in itself is amazing, but the fact that the Cowboys only had 10 men on the field for that play is insane.
We ended up losing that game
Insignificant compared to many others

Yeah the thing that makes the 90s Cowboys so great, is they were balanced. They were elite on offense and defense.
896 F Flat!
I would remove Barber’s 2-yard run and replace it with Norton’s goal line stop in the Super Bowl.
Good call. I can still hear the announcer, "and there's a BANG at the goal line."

those were the days when football was football unlike today
There should be an * next to the ‘Hail Mary’ game for the penalty that wasn’t called on Drew Pearson. And before anyone starts disagreeing with me, he admitted it.
I was at that game in 2015 when Rojo hit written, my aunt took me it’s the only game I’ve watched in a stadium, I cherish those memories
How do you leave out Emmitt's run vs the Giants with a dislocated shoulder? That should have been number one.
Great video I've ever watched in that Larry Brown interception in the Super Bowl. I believe he had two interceptions in that game
Thanks friend, you’re right he did have 2. The 2nd one pretty much sealed the game.
@@DC4L99 it was also nice payback
Also you never told me what year you were born. I was born in 83
They saved the best for last - Alvin Harper’s NFC championship game catch. Thank you AH and TA!
Super Bowl VI after Lilly' s sack on Griese that sank the Dolphins
I hope they add to this in this year's playoffs!!!
Herschel Walkers 84 yard run against the Eagles in 86 should be in there
I agree with this list. Hop is #1 because of what it MEANT. A SB win for sure and what was to come afterwards
Thanks for compiling this video even though i disagree with a lot of it. Great for discussion
Nice list. And as always, F Dallas.
Great video Alexander Wright 1991 kickoff return when you do the top 50 plays...
