OPEN diff vs LOCKED diff. What's BEST for the DR10?

- In today's video we have the final episode of the Dirty DR10 series until race day. We find out if an open or LOCKED differential works for the Team Associated as well as it does for other drag cars in it's class. We also tune the shocks and take it for a RIP!

Awesomeness!!! Glad to help... When you change esc settings... clutch adjustment maybe needed...
I was thinking about that. Loosening it just a little bit more for that.
Thanks for the advice bro, your advice gave me better results than my own tuning because I'm not smart enough to see past RPM and gearing hahaha.
Hey brother, had to get a new phone. Shoot me a text sometime, we're still planning the drag race event, but I had to push it back.
Great video and info for the Dr10
I hope you find some use for it with your DR10. They can be rockets, just that suspension and slipper needs adjustments if you beef up the power.
That looks like a lot of fun! Great test!
It really is a blast, it took a while to actually make it run straight though.
@@Rek_Rc when I was still making fast Nikko Thunderbolts, the diff and ballooning tires were a nightmare, especially with no rear articulation. If the left tire hit a bump, instantly all of the power went to the left tire, causing it to balloon, which pushed it to the right. So counter steering would either roll the car or cause the same thing to happen on the opposite side.
With a locked or really stiff diff, when one of the rear tires hit a bump, both wheels are still spinning together, but with half the traction. So it just swapped ends. Fine for speed runs and gradually feeding in the power, AWFUL for drag racing.
The. I got better tires and a super fast motor and it wound just backflip onto its roof 😂
Great video. Never would’ve thought it would’ve made it that squirly
I was surprised too, but yeah, it made it impossible.
Good tips could save people a lot of trouble. That's bein' a bro!
Awesome! I hope it helps in some way.
Great testing and info!
Thank you buddy. It was a bit surprising that locking the diff had such an adverse effect, but considering the weight difference compared to the losi or even the drag slash, it makes sense.
Nice work. You really did quite a bit of fine tuning on your DR10. I was surprised at how much of a difference it made just by loosening the slipper just a bit.
Yep, re-opening the diff and trusting that loosening that slipper a little bit made a huge difference. Also, the shock oil made a massive improvement to weight transfer as well. The shocks were as important as anything else actually.
@@Rek_Rc I hardly pay attention to shocks on my cars but your right they are very important to the performance of the car. When are you going to bring out your crawler again? I would love to see it in action again. I'm considering getting a crawler just to see what it's like. On a hot day like today I see myself sitting under a shade tree having fun with a crawler. I kind of have my eye on the Redcat Everest 10. Not sure yet but something that wont break the bank.
For that much kv belted tires a must
Absolutely
I'll be doin' some experiments. Other night did a lil' Ambien shoppin' and got a Vendetta and two of these. 🤣 I've never done anything on road.
The stock system isn't fast unless you gear it up, but the car is very very tough, reliable, and light, so it's great for making easy speed. I dropped the Spektrum 100A 6500Kv system in mine. It's the same system as a losi 22s and it's only 100 dollars. It's easy to make this car fast, but don't overlook the importance of tires, suspension tuning, and getting just the right slipper clutch tension. You get those right, and it's a rocket!
