    Oh man. What a *weird* and frustrating cause of issues. GOOD video. A++. One idea to help out folks, I suggest you add a line in the description or title for "jeep liberty tail light bulb keeps blowing" because I suspect that's what frustrated Liberty owners will be typing into Google. Make this vid easier to find!

    Common problem in the liberty models.. I fixed it by breaking that plastic off. It works and doest mess anything up. Also liberty's of that year have issues with the three contacts. Becoming (I know it sounds dumb) but too flat. Symptoms for that is that entire rear light foesnt turn on except when you hit the break. Basically the opposite to a burnt bulb. How to fix? Take a little screw driver and raise the contacts by bending them upward a bit.

    Just found my '04 with only a brake light out, bought & put in new bulb but old one looked fine... When you put it in the housing and turn, mine is turning a hair past the connections, I back off a little and its fine. Gonna McGyver it to keep it turned in the right position with something.

    the peace of plastic is an relfector to split the light
    had that problem too
    i recommend to cut this plastic part in little peaces and geht it out of ther
    you need about 45min for that work

    Wish I would’ve thought about glue before I snapped that piece of plastic in 2 then fighting with it for about 30 minutes to get it out that small hole, I used glue for the other side just in case though 👍

    If you can manage, I did, in a Canadian Tire parking lot no less, is take a drill bit and try to drill the piece of plastic without going through the housing, this may sound strange and difficult but the 20 minutes or less I spent drilling it out to get that pain in the ass plastic to break apart (Why the fuck is it the strongest piece of plastic on planet earth?) Once you break it up into two or three pieces even if you can't get them out they will remain flat and never bother your bulbs again. Please do not drill all the way through the back housing and call ME and asshole. I did it with almost 100% success and Im a moron , so somebody with actual mechanics experience will have no difficulty with this whatsoever. Good luck and to those of you that do drill through the whole housing don't say I didn't warn you. And apologies to everyone for this car being such a pain in the ass. I know Chrysler/Jeep isn't going to say anything 😂😂

    Best option is buy the aftermarket tail light assembly on Amazon 50 bucks solved all the problems

    • @Pudentame

      I think the aftermarket assemblies have that same piece of plastic. I bought them & still had the problem. Then I bought the better, more expensive ones through AutoZone to replace the ones from Amazon ... same problem. This latest time I had the tail-lights fixed by my mechanic and the bulb blew in less than 24 hours (after driving for about half an hour in the dark).
      I bought the LED tail-light assemblies, and when I removed the old tail-light assembly THIS TIME I saw that piece of plastic stuck to the bulb envelope (which was broken off inside the assembly.
      Installing the LED tail-light assemblies was easier than replacing the bulbs. It's exactly the same until you get to the point where you have to pry out that connector to get to the bulb. You don't have to do that. You just hook up the connector and skip to the part where you mount the tail-light assemblies. Plus the LED tail-light assemblies have little side LEDs you can see in your side rear view mirrors so you don't have to get out and walk around back of the car to confirm that your tail-lights are working.
      If you're going to have to replace the tail-light assemblies, go for the LEDs.

      @@Pudentame the one i got on Amazon didn’t have the extra connection. Just gotta read the description to make sure it’s not imitating the original part. Been working fine for over a year only 1 connection made to harness and bulb connects directly to it

    I've changed my bulb and socket and still nothing. Any ideas?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you see the part in the video about the little piece of plastic that comes loose and causes the bulb to blow? That's usually the issue, not the socket or bulb, but here is another fix, what I call the ultimate fix. www.amazon.com/211108-Liberty-Black-Light-Assembly/dp/B0015PTUPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1505908958&sr=8-1&keywords=jeep+liberty+black+tail+lights These convert the lights over to standard style plugs and bulbs like most tradition tail lights. I hope this helps you out, thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to keep up on all the new videos! Thanks again!

      Rocky X TV checked that and its fine. Can it be a fuse?

    • @RockyXTV
      @RockyXTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the lights are not working, yes it could be a fuse. If the bulbs keep blowing it would be another issue.

      El Mencho I’m currently having the same issue! Can you please help? I just replaced the socket and the bulb is brand new. What do you mean you placed foil under the small squares? How?
