i think the seal is sticking up more than OEM because its a softer material than the OEM seal so it can get more squish to make a good seal. thats what Im gonna go with at least.

This was helpful. I think everything was still OEM on my jeep but it suddenly got a radiator leak and I forgot which way the thermostat went in while I was replacing the entire cooling system to avoid the eventual cascade of cooling part failures. 😅

How much should this cost today in labour cost? In Canadian dollars. Being quoted $400

Possibly during the tight wiggle install U might have dislodged the outer thermo gasket.

I'm gonna mix and match old and new parts and if it doesn't work I'll blame the manufacturer of the new parts....wow...

you can just buy the thermostat without the housing so it shouldn't make a difference. i wasn't happy with the dorman housing so i just used the thermostat. so far it's all working fine and it's my daily driver. i thought my housing was cracked is the only reason i bought the new one in the first place.

The housing is a well known common issue on Liberties. Really though the whole cooling system on them is garbage. Plastic radiator, a heater core that requires in depth dash surgery to replace, if a waterpump lasts more than a couple years you'll probably win the lottery, and if anyone has ever used green antifreeze in it you might as well haul the whole works to the junkyard. Which would save you from the inevitable valve job, head replacement, or timing issues the 3.7 is known for.

@@JunkworksGarage lol, as a fellow liberty owner I can guarantee you will! Ball joints and driveshafts are a whole series worth.
