    The icing on the cake of your very informative video, would be to apply some rain repellent
    such as Rain X.
    A perfect final touch to all this great effort and definitive results.
    I am the proud original of a Atlantic Blue, 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport.
    It has the entertaining V6 3.7.
    Combined with the magnificent 6 Speed manual transmission. (A rare combination.)
    My headlamp lenses are crystal clear to this day.
    The reason being is that I try to avoid getting it out during inclement weather, and exposed to the sun
    for too long.
    Well deserved "thumbs up"!

    Love this video. Was going to buy new headlamps. Thanks for this... Love my old liberty too and anything to help keep it going longer is a plus. Thanks for all the EXTRA tips in the video also. helpful tip. My son does TH-cam car videos also, " THOSE AMATUER CAR GUYS" and he either mounts the cam or has another person hold it.

    I cleaned up my 2004 Libby with Vim cleaner. Worked very well. I don't know what the long term quality will be. Cheers

    Before you go all out like this, just try some regular Turtle wax white paste polishing compound on a wet facecloth -- I had both my lenses looking like brand new in 2-3 minutes each. 5 bucks at Sears.

    • @DeathScouter
      @DeathScouter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yup, any kind of "compound" to rub away the oxidized surface will work. Thanks for watching.

      My observation is that it will nickel & dime you to death if you don't do your own repairs.

      Never known "jeep" and "reliable" to be used in the same sentence my 04 lib almost requires me to have a second. Job 😂

    Wow that's a lot of work. I use rubbing compound (but toothpaste) is a good idea. Use the buffing tool and spray with clear coat. Takes about 1 min and lasts about 2 years. Much cheaper than the kit.

    • @DeathScouter
      @DeathScouter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and giving some feedback. I've kind of "matured" my process and use adhesive-backed pads on my cordless drill and added in some other grits of sand paper based on the amount of oxidation. This video was focused on what comes within the Meguire's Kit. Yes, I actually got a new camera and tripod so my newer videos are better camera work. My #1 complaint is me holding the camera as I try to work.... message received. :)

    I use toothpaste, a cotton cloth, and a spray bottle of water, and some elbow grease. Easy and saves a bunch of money.

  • @k8dfi
    @k8dfi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you seal it to prevent the oxidation from returning?

    • @DeathScouter
      @DeathScouter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do NOW. I did not for a few years and I have had hit/miss luck with returning oxidation. My Liberty headlights lasted a more than a year while the ones on my Pontiac were yellow again in a couple of months. I now use a sealant that CLAIMS to protect for 1 year, but I've only been using it for the last month so its too soon for me to state if the sealant makes a difference or not.

    You can just buy some new ones for like 44.00 dollars on eBay I did that for my liberty but still good video

    • @DeathScouter
      @DeathScouter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for watching! I didn't bother to show it in the video, but in 5 minutes, I had also polished out both fog lights too, and they look equally new & clear. Considering this was the 5th or 6th set of lights I did with the kit, I think it was really worth the money.
      FYI - to replace the headlights on my Pontiac Soltice, the price is about $300 each for headlight lenses. I may need to polish them out every 3 years, but that's a small price to pay. I suspect other cars may be equally expensive.

    • @robertaBooey69
      @robertaBooey69 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s super easy to replace jeep liberty lights! why pay for cleaning plastic when it’s cheaper than replacing. $44.00 for both lights.

    • @robertaBooey69
      @robertaBooey69 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Pontiac solstice;)))) Not sure you heard but Pontiac, is not close to Jeep. Jeep there is a aftermarket and factory parts. Pontiac in 10. buy factory parts from them are 8 years old. you tube mechanics don’t know shit

    • @DeathScouter
      @DeathScouter  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The polishing kit is $35. I've polished about 10 cars with this 1 kit and I still have a few more before I run out of polish or the sanding pads get worn our. That makes it about $2 per headlight. The headlights for the Pontiac are $200 a piece so the polishing kit is well worth the money

    Hey man, that background music destroyed a great procedure. I could only endure the first minute before shutting off. Great pity to an otherwise epic video ....I'm sure!

    • @kilroy2517
      @kilroy2517 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First... really? A little music way down in the background that you can't even hear when he's rubbing bothered you? Well I guess with what you paid for this video you have the right to complain. Second, you don't like the Scorpions? Would you prefer something that just goes oontz oontz oontz?

  • @job38four10

    That's to much hand work, why isn't there a cheap buffing tool somewhere to use.............
