I have been searching a half zip tutorial for the longest time, finally I came across yours, thanks so much. God bless you, will give it a try on a leather bag
Recently a post flashed by and I could not respond. It was about some very negative person who always gives you an immediate thumbs Down. Ignore them and if you can find out who block them! Probably some bitter person who obviously has nothing going in their life and a bit of a bully to boot! Keep on with all your lovely tutorials which I thoroughly enjoy and so do many others. They are free and you are using your time to give us these wonderful tutorials so we can Create! I 💕 you to bits and thank you!
That looks like so much fun. I can't wait to try it. When I make quilts as family gifts, I usually add some zipper bags of some kind, like a set of three sizes that fit one inside the other, and sometimes, I add a little matching tissue holder. I can see so many possibilities for the outside, piecing and quilting. I want to head straight for my stash. Thank you.
Hi Lizzie, I have racking my brain for small Christmas gifts that are nice, quick to make and useful...I come to my computer and there you was; with the PEFECT gift!! Thank you so much. Now I'm going back and watch more of your videos! Again. Thank You!!!
Lizzi, thanks for a very good demo of a simple and useful pouch !!! Using half of a zipper , was a great idea !! Your method of inserting the runner thru the zip was great too !! Thanks again.
I really like this idea. Just found your channel recently and have learned lots! I made this pouch today. Had a heck of a time with the zipper. Until I figured out that I was putting the slider on upside down. Worked like sliced butter when I flipped it!
What?! I had no idea you could do this with a zipper. I hoard zippers. But it's not my favorite thing. I have errands and things to do and then I find this channel. lol Down the YT rabbit hole I go...weeeeeeeeeee! lol
Wow, 1st time seeing that technique for zip. Brilliant! I love coil zippers but they don't seem to come in many colors. I've not used zips with slides off as I was afraid there would be puckers & mismatches once putting it on. LOL. Thanks for great video. You have an accent like Simon Cowell. 👍👍👍
Another great tutorial very pretty pouch! Love your quick and easy items, thank you very much for teaching us your a great teacher!!! thanks for Sharing!!! Hugs Liz.
oh Lizzy.... you have done it again. such a lovely and simple way of making a very useful small pouch. that's one for my to do list. But where is you lovely chat gone. i miss it. but you are still a joy to watch. Thank you. x
I really like this little bag you could use it for makeup bag or just about anything. Very clever how you work the zippe.r Thank you for doing this tutorial.
Just watched this (and saved under my Lizzy Curtis favourites) and I'm really looking forward to making it. Thank you so much Lizzy for sharing your skills with me. xx
I’ve decided to start swiping my threads etc. onto the floor as Lizzy does! Then just clean up when done. Sometimes trying to pick up those threads is a pain in the neck! And then you have to be sure to hit the wastebasket!!! Love your style and your tutorials. Thank you!❤️
Love this .. half a zip, what a great idea. Can you buy just the zip heads somewhere? Have been looking for a simple zip up bag .. this fits very well. Many thanks Lizzy for this lovely bag.
Love this. I'm doing the shopping trolley hand cover and sanitizer bottle cover at the moment, working up to doing a zip, and this makes it seem so easy. Can you get extra zip sliders so can use other half of the zip?
@@LizzyCurtis but how will I you know the zip slider will be the right size for the odd zips I have lying around? I’ve bought them from all different places. Also if you could put a link here or in the description for the particular sliders you get from amazon, that would be really helpful x
@@fireflysparks1105 measure the teeth on the zip, standard is 3 which is 3mm, so take it from there. I don’t like to restrict where people buy their things from, just use google xx
Hello Lizzy! Thank you for this wonderful video. I LOVE this method -- I think that the continuous zipper across the top just looks so clever. I'm not sure if you will see this post as I know this video is 4 years old at this point, but I figured I'd try. I'm having an issue with the width of the seams across the boxed corners being uneven. I use a boxed corner template to cut out my squares so they are all the same size, and I do my very best to line up the seams before sewing, but the side of the pouch with the long seam that we sew tends to have a slightly smaller width across the boxed corner bottom than the width across the bottom of the boxed corner on the seamless side of the pouch. Since I can't post a picture of my projects, I hope that I'm explaining this clearly enough. Is this something normal to a pouch like this? Am I just being particular? Do you have any suggestions or could you possibly help troubleshoot in another video in the future? Again, thank you so much for your easy to understand tutorial!
Hi Lizzie. I love your tutorials and i have subscribed. I find that i just can't do this half a zip thing, i cant get the zipper bit on. I do buy cheap zips maybe thats why. Any suggestions?
Hi Lizzy I have a piece of fabric that I love to use but the other size is 16x 11 can I still use it the same as your pouch if you can help with other sizes that we can do that will be so helpful thank you Gloria
No reason why not, just add a pocket into the lining, as long as you haven’t secured the outer and the lining together it’ll be fine. You’d have to work out the measurements.
If you use a serger do you need to do the straight stitch first? I'm curious because my goal is to get a serger and I'd like some tips on using it!! Thanks so much!
Is the "Half zip" just an ordinary zip, but just utilising one side of the zip, after cutting top and bottoms, and removing the zip pull? Or is it a specialised item?
Thank you for replying. Sounds a brilliant idea and, as I have lots of longer zips in my fabric store cupboard, I'll be giving this crafty item a try this weekend. PS: Lovely tutorial.
Love it! Have to make one or two. What size zipper did you use? Next time, we need a shot of your floor after your project I’d finished. Haha😁 thank you Lizzie, your the best!
I kinda wished that you would had shown what you did to the zipper to get 1/2 of a zipper I think it’s kinda scary to take a zipper apart 😱 maybe you can show us on a video 👍🏼...... I’ve never seen anyone do that it’s always with a full zipper 🌻
Oh I dont like the raw edges on the inside of the bag, seen someone make one of these with no raw edges on the inside but you explained very well n nice.

Using just half of a zip. What a great idea. I'm trying this today.
This is a perfect pouch for prequilted reversible fabric. It is so fast. Just cut one piece and start sewing. Thanks for a great video!
Wonderful idea!
I’m amazed how you keep coming up with new ways to make bags and purses. This one is so clever, and the fabric I’d gorgeous.
Quick and fun project. Thank you!
Wahh make a pretty pouch sister, thank you for your great tutorial
Great tip to cut the first few teeth off one side before putting on the pull. You’ve just solved one of my constant zip problems! Thank you!
I just subscribed. You are a cup of sunshine. "Inches" make my ears happy.

Deborah Gilmore oh good news!! I’ve made loads, I like how one end is really wide, unlike having a zip both ends!
I had no idea ever you could use half a zip! Thank you for this wonderful idea and cute bag. I really enjoyed your well done video.

Very clever, always been afraid of adding the zipper pull to a zipper. I guess I need to give it a try
I love the way you explain. Wonderful zip pouch. Thanks for sharing
Just made 8 pouches from this wonderful video of yours. These will be donated to poor kids. Wish I could add photos.
So cute and I love the 1/2 zipper idea. Thank you!
I am sew happy that I found your channel. Cannot wait to make a bunch of these pouches. Absolutely love your fabric

"Keep everything nice & neat"... sweeps fabric onto floor HAHAH. Instant subscribe after that. So happy I found this channel.
also yes I knew what she meant but still thought it was funny.
LaDonna Arcona haha!! I know... I’ve got a magic fairy that sweeps it all up.... me! Lol
@@LizzyCurtis lol I do the same thing while cleaning. Everything goes on the floor until the end when I sweep.

Thanks for the great video. I had to stay up way too late to try this out last night. I boxed my corners, but they were wonky so I unboxed them.
Lizzy this is so cute! Now we can make two bags with one zip. Love it! Thank you!
Thank you for showing the technique with the zip - I’ve never seen that done before. The material is so pretty also! Kind regards from Penny 😊

Yes you can, just google zip sliders
Love this. I'm doing the shopping trolley hand cover and sanitizer bottle cover at the moment, working up to doing a zip, and this makes it seem so easy. Can you get extra zip sliders so can use other half of the zip?
Yes, eBay or Amazon. I use size 3

Absolutely lovely!!!!
This would be perfect for 2 sided quilted fabric. Just ready to add zipper and zigzag and sew side and bottom , zigzag, box corners and done.
Thank you Ms. Lizzy for another fabulous tutorial!
Can I asked what machine your using as it sounds such a smooth sew.
Looks like my Bernina x
Love it. Very nice.

Great idea for all the leftovers I have. I wish I had your sewing room. Mine's a little crowded.
Super - thanks, Lizzy!

Just make sure you’re measuring from the seam line not the raw edge. That will help x
This is wonderful, what is the finished size of the bag?
It’s a fat quarter folded in half lengthwise then folded again. 10”x9” approximately
It can be any size you want
Love the video, just wish there was some up close pics of the entire process
REDUNICORNKNIGHT thanks for the feedback. I just don’t have the cameras or camera crew x

Love this easy bag, it really is just what I was looking for to do.....like you work. 🌹❤️🌹❤️
Hi not sure if you did but if not can you please do a tutorial on a sewing machine... thanks enjoy and always understand you video

You can use any size. Fold into quarters, it’ll give you a rough idea if it will be a good size.
Simply nice
Lizzy, I love yr tutorials very much! Lv from Sha in South Africa
vary.good.totoarial.thenks.
what about sewing over zip with serger, or do you make sure cutter is out of the way?
I’d avoid the zip completely.
Great and so simple x

Now I can do it thank you

Very nice👌👌
Super!
The Fabric and lining are amazing I love the colors. im really horrible at putting on zipper pulls would an open-end zipper work
Nicola Jones ... it’s the style that takes half a zip, it’s far easier than an open end or regular zip. Try it and see x
@@LizzyCurtis I will definitely be trying it out. Will post pics when I done. Thank you.

yvonne rodriguez I can vouch for the fact the floor will be a mess ;) I’ve inherited the trait!
yvonne rodriguez so the zip is 23” approx, I’ve written all the measurements in the description, the floor.... well !! Lol
It is pretty. Is the purpose of using a half zip to be able to use a different color pull?
Patricia Homer not necessarily, just gives a nice neat finish

marie dun that’s where an overlocker / serger would be useful!
Fabulous!
Nice!!
Merci pour cette vidéo je ne connais pas l'anglais mais vous expliquer bien et vous êtes très belle à bientôt
Great idea to use half a zip but then the other half cannot be used because it has no slider?
Sandra, you can buy only sliders separately !!!
The remaining half zip will be thus used !!
Did you use a regular or sperating zipper
Burnett Newton I used a zip on a roll so I can cut to any size , split in half then as per video.
Superb, Mam U explain very nice, so cute, God bless u & love u 👌👌👌👌👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏👍😘😘😘😘
