"Cable", I guess XD. But damn, it's just great seeing so many exploits for the PS2 in such a short period of time! Here in Brazil, well, we don't actually need something like this when getting a PS2, since pretty much every console you come across has a modchip of some kind installed on it already. And that was a good thing for me, because I have a dead PS1 and a handful of "backups" for it that I now am able to play on the PS2 I bought just last year with a cloned DMS4 Lite. I managed to burn a CD with uLaunchELF and install FMCB on a memory card without issues, but I only play PS2 games through that method. I really wished someone managed to find a way of playing PS1 games through "true" backwards compatibility on a PS2 outside of the disc drive. POPStarter really is not that great for doing so. I'm playing all my 20+ year old PS1 games and also burned some others, and I'm amazed how great the games run on that PS2, but I really don't know how much that laser will last playing these types of media, so, if someone managed to unlock true backwards compatibility, *that* I would consider a great achievement!
Brazil loves their mods more than any other country I can imagine 😂 Although I get it, hardware and legitimate software is expensive there, so all the crazy piracy methods come out of there.
@@MrMario2011 Yeah, and now games are getting even more expensive. It was R$250 some time ago, but now it's going up to R$300 with the new generation... Doing a straight dollar conversion, that does come out somewhat cheaper than the current $60 most countries would pay, but considering an average workers minimum wage is around R$1200 here, there's just not enough "will" for getting games the legitimate way.
-cable- Thanks for this video. Excellent practical scenario. I really enjoyed this video, you covered so much! I thought about ESR being being similar, but it was just a hunch. Now confirmed! There are sooo many ways to get freemcboot running. many many ways. But yes you'd always need some extra hardware/software So this is pretty big and I am also excited/amazed by this new exploit That said I would recommend going the HDD route with freemcboot, OPL As for the ps3, I can imagine that this exploit might work on /FAT ps3' because of the similar hardware, that would be pretty big! Even though i recommend just using a ps2
Even considering the difference in the drive players (DVD for ps2, and BluRay for ps3), knowing this exploit hinges on what version the DVD drive player is, would you still surmise it might work on ps3? (Asking cuz I'm thinking of trying it with my fat ps3)
Very cabling cableless cablemod for the ps2! I particularly enjoyed the cable part, where the cabled super-cables are cabled over the original cables (being extremely cautious not to cable out the front-end cables, naturally), to get the best cable output via the cableless cable cable cable cables. My only question is: where do you put the wire? Lol!
i basically saw this as and easy way to load freemcboot onto a card without having to buy an already "prepared" memory card by means of this disc (freedvdboot) and a usb at its current state (should you have a slim ps2).
As far as I know, the internals of a PS3 for backward compatible models are actually emulated and do not contain actual PS2 hardware. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@@brngrofdeth I was under the impression that early PS3s had some PS2 chips in them. These chips were removed either to cut costs or to force gamers to rebuy their PS2 games through the PSN store. The removal of these chips made backward compatibility impossible. I could be wrong as well but this is what I've heard.

This is interesting, though I see it as a way to load FMCB on a Mem card . The DVD drive is slow and noisy, and I’d rather save wear and tear on it by using other devices to load things,
This is neat! No need to buy pre-modded Memory Card anymore, or even solder a chip with some cable™. BTW : I'm fine with a ModChat that cover only one or two topics; because, I mean... It stills talks about mods, and it's still a chat. So... I guess it's still a ModChat!

This is awesome news for the old ps2
Never clicked on a video so fast before
I'm really excited now. Cable.
Aren't we all?
-cable-
Thanks for this video. Excellent practical scenario. I really enjoyed this video, you covered so much!
I thought about ESR being being similar, but it was just a hunch. Now confirmed!
There are sooo many ways to get freemcboot running. many many ways. But yes you'd always need some extra hardware/software
So this is pretty big and I am also excited/amazed by this new exploit
That said I would recommend going the HDD route with freemcboot, OPL
As for the ps3, I can imagine that this exploit might work on /FAT ps3' because of the similar hardware, that would be pretty big! Even though i recommend just using a ps2
I love it.
Lol!
"cable" this is some exciting news, hope they can do this with other systems.
Just subbed to the podcast!
Great video! Cable.
Can't wait to see people boot Linux via FreeDVDBoot
i always wanted fmcb...
AND I CAN FINALLY GET IT YEY
Would this work with PlayStation games? Would love to burn expensive ps1 games for the ps2.
aomeone then : please send a angle to let me play my scratched disc.
some years later : wait who are you.
angel:
i basically saw this as and easy way to load freemcboot onto a card without having to buy an already "prepared" memory card by means of this disc (freedvdboot) and a usb at its current state (should you have a slim ps2).
cable
is this for slim models only? or can we use the fat version depending on the dvd firmware?
Currently only the Slim DVD-Players have been exploited, but the vulnerability is likely there on the first versions.
LOVE IT
I just wondering if you put this FreeDVDBoot on backward compatible PS3 🤔
Hmmm.... 🤔
Exactly. Even if it does not work, I think it can be made to work and that would be pretty big
I have that ps3 bought it when it released but haven't used it in years. Think it will brake it if I try?
As far as I know, the internals of a PS3 for backward compatible models are actually emulated and do not contain actual PS2 hardware. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@@brngrofdeth I was under the impression that early PS3s had some PS2 chips in them. These chips were removed either to cut costs or to force gamers to rebuy their PS2 games through the PSN store. The removal of these chips made backward compatibility impossible. I could be wrong as well but this is what I've heard.
Wow amazing I'm super happy. It would be amazing if you could make a step by step tutorial on this. 😇 Because your tutorials are super easy to follow. You are the best.
Soon.
Hey dude! I noticed you used some of my songs (soul slavocracy) on your old uploads, just wanted to say feel free to use any of the royalty free content on my channel in your future videos if you'd like to! Glad your channel is doing so well, keep up the good work man. I'll be uploading a lot more royalty free songs very soon, it just takes awhile to render/upload heh.
Great exploit, mine has quite an old Drive (2.13E), so yeah just have to wait a bit more until there is a solution. I'm also looking for new "cable" to look if I can take advantage of my tv.
Amazing video!
I have a scph-90000x series and i wait this exploit soo much.
You will do a short video with all things that you need to do for use Open ps2 loader?
Yep, but it won't be a short video... 😅
Great video. an esr patcher that implements the freedvd exploit and your DVD firmware version for game isos would be rad. Cable.
Oh that would be fantastic.
for the classic xbox there was a actual bootdisk. only its complete vanished from the internet.
I had it in the past when to console was still fresh. hoped I could find it now again, but no :(
The format is fine by me, getting a little more in depth - I like it. I need to try it out, but I think I'll wait until it's more user friendly - got to find my PS2 cable.
Omg that was so easy and fast
This is interesting, though I see it as a way to load FMCB on a Mem card . The DVD drive is slow and noisy, and I’d rather save wear and tear on it by using other devices to load things,
Question, can you play DVD-R PS2 Games without FreeDVDBoot? Since you need a Startup Logo of "PlayStation2".
Every video of this. I feel smarter
Great bonus.
You left out Swap Magic when talking about all the exploits.
I have scph 90004 PAL CB DATE CODE 1A which version works for me please reply must I'm waiting for your answer
I know I'm late to the party but...cable?! 😁💕✨
Personally what I would do is add a "DVD Menu" and from the menu launch a "dummy video" and also launch the exploit.
Completely forgot to touch up on that, but yes, CTurt said that could be a possibility.
@@MrMario2011 I feel like that menu would also (In the future) allow for a PS2 version of the exploit from in the menu, a PS3 version in the menu, so on so forth, and until the actual payload is selected the DVD based device would just think it's "additional content"
how do you get the usb thumb stick too boot
I believe you just make a folder in the USB named DVD and place the iso files inside it
My question is how it would react when inserted into an old PS3 with the EE chip, what would it do? Awesome cable as always
I have a SNES emulator that somehow boots from a copied DVD disc with no mods, I've no idea how it works. Had that for about 5 years. :)
Great ModChat i sit it all out, the CABLE was connected here.
I hope you make a tutorial on how to install FreeMcBoot with this method.
Planning on it!
@@MrMario2011 Thank you for the reaction, looking forward to it :)
So i tried using this method to install freemcboot. The PS2 just straight up refuses to read the DVD. Games and Retail DVD Movies work just fine.
THE cable!
When I formatted my USB and inserted in the ps2 and launch ulauncherelf and go to mass nothing is there
hello there MrMario what ps2 slim do you recommand i buy so this Exploit will definitely work on it without any problems?
Well Kayble Cable Kable idk still wonder how far it will go plus I think you should call these Modchat Mini probably suits them better
The best is yet to come!
Very nice - will try this one for sure. But not so many cables in this video... hmmm..
HAH, good one
When you do your tutorial, are you able to include how to then install FreeHDDboot ?
Already have a video covering FreeHDBoot.
What about playing orginal import games ?
no, dreamcast its written backwards, thats why it had to burnt with disc juggler, and all that to write the disc outward / inward instead of how reg dvds are written inside to out. but ya awesome
GET FORKED ! I think is may be better than sliced bread ! Also because you like Courage the Cowardly Dog I will sub.
😂
So, I need some advice. Say that I already have a memory card that already has freemcboot on it. I want to install games that I own already and launch them from the ps2 so there’s no need for the optical drive, will all I need be a hard drive or do I need a hard drive AND the adapter for SATA
wait do you think this could work for playstation one roms aswell
when i try to burn the disc i keep getting errors
It do be a sad time for me as my PS2 uses DVD Player v2.13E
I wonder if this could be used to softmod a DVD player and make it region free? At least the ones with the main menus.
Maybe a few, but there's an infinite amount of DVD players out there, so it wouldn't be as much of a one size fits all scenario.
Mind blown! Could be
If you're taking about a standalone DVD player, there is a website that is called videohelp, it's like a forum where the users share codes to hack DVD players and make them region free, I found there a code to make my LG DVD home theater system region free, since it would only play region 4 discs.
Was honestly never a fan of the slim model. But i believe it’s time to invest in one 🤩. But your also saying as long as my Fat version PS2 is using DVD 📀 version 3.11u im still able to use this method correct? Thank you for your content mrmario! always enjoy your videos!
Or,am i better of just using FreeMcboot in your opinion?
i'd be interested to see what a ps2 hardware capable fat ps3 does with the dvd.
Yesssss I don't have to buy my own FreeMcBoot
