    Spot on! Our group has a challenge with the Audi R18 this week. Now I understand the hybrid system/KERS better. I'm more from the old greasy oil, spark plug era ;)

    Thanks Yorkie. Another great insider's Guide video.
    Really enjoy the new LMP1 2016 cars .. but I absolutely love the Porsche 917 and the Ferrari 512 models on the classic Le Mans circuit .. although I will admit that I've had to peel myself from the fences more than once ...

    Great tutorial! I enjoyed the Spirit of LeMans DLC. It brought chills down my spine.

    very helpful. just what I needed to know. Thanks for your thorough and clear coverage of the hybrid features.

    For me out of the 4 LMP1 2016 cars I favour the Porsche just because I have tweaked the rear aero a bit to make it a real monster down the straight but I tend to use the KERS for speed on the Historic Le Mans track but I found on that circuit the best places to use KERS are on the main straight to get up to V-max and a bit of a squirt down past Mulsanne to get it up to speed but then to stop and hold off for the long stretch from Arnarge to the Ford Chicane depends on where I deploy it due to a hill before Maison Blanche

      Robert Gracie what are you using for the aero setup

    Is there any way to keep track of the the 8mg figure you mention is allowed per lap in the 919 ? I can’t see anything on the Motec like a percentage or a graph of any sort... surely it’s not just guess work in a car like this?

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not, so it is mostly guess work. It is only the longer tracks though where you will come close to or hit the limit. With these, just a case of playing around with boosting various amounts in certain spots until you figure out roughly how long you can boost for and not hit the limit. I did a lap trying to beat Kobayashi's pole time and the amount of boost i used across the lap for that was under but right on the limit of usage for a lap.

    Hey yorkie another awesome video as usual question for you, Ive been testing out the toyota hybrid 911 that comes with the base game at the le mens circuit and for some reason the kers system deploys automatic and doesn't let me do it manually even though ive got a button assigned to that command for my controller. So am wondering is that the way its meant to be and how its design or can you change the settings to do it manually if you get me ? Keep up the great tutorials lately.

      For the older cars in the LMP1 class, there is no button pressing needed. It is done by throttle position as explained in the video. It's only the new LMP1 2016 cars that makes use of the deployment through pressing and holding the KERS button.

      Ahh right i get you now yorkie, i didn't realise you already explained it at the beginning of the video when i watched it back, but thanks for the tips anyway just thought id ask for someone who's already had experience with it :) Keep up the great tutorials as always

    How is it with the Hybrid cars in the other classes like the holy trinity in Road A or their track only versions in Trackday A like the 918 Spyder or the P1 GTR?

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's auto deployment for them so you don't have to worry about deploying manually. Still recharge under braking.

  • @motogp4658
    @motogp4658 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Le Mans Audi is practically unreachable in mulsanne , it reaches almost 350 while the others only reach hardly 330 or 336, kinda a disadvantage.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The audi has more hp from the combustion engine, and therefore can reach higher speeds without the need for as much boost. It is also why it has 2MJ less hybrid allowance per lap than the ts050 and 919 hybrid, so using the boost properly in those cars negates that advantage

    I'm completely new to LMP1 technical language. I know KERS is the hybrid system, but what does it mean and how does it work?

    • @jasonwilkinson5335
      @jasonwilkinson5335 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      KERS stands for
      Kenetic
      Energy
      Recovery
      System.
      To put it simply, when you hit the brakes the energy you get from that goes to a battery that you can then deploy.
      V6 formula one cars have an allocation of around 30-33 seconds per lap of their ‘ERS’ system, the LMP1 cars have a bit more if I’m not mistaken. When you watch the 24 hour this weekend you’ll most likely see a green bar with ERS on top, that’s the amount of energy they have left for the lap.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason put a pretty good explanation above, but to add to it; it gives the cars an extra HP boost throughout the lap for limited time. As explained in the video, the standard combustion engines of the LMP1's is 500hp or so. With the extra hybrid boost, they get another 400-500hp boost for limited period of time, typically used for accelerating up to higher speeds quicker. The regeneration of energy under braking is stored to be used to power the electric hybrid motors for this hybrid boost. As explained in the video, each car has its own system, with its own energy amounts to balance the cars to produce the same lap time.

    How can you make the Toyota reach 330 without using the HY boost? If I don't use the boost the car only reaches 315 tops and with boost 330 but as soon as I release the button the speed starts to decrease.

    • @MrAyybee2cold
      @MrAyybee2cold 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All 4 Fun 330 is realistic with those cars and the Audi was the fastest in game and irl in terms of speed.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amount of drag produced by the car will limit its top speed. Using the hybrid boost will allow you to push through that limit, but once you stop using the boost, the drop in HP will see the airflow and drag overpower the engine and bring the speed back down a little. Reducing drag by closing brake ducts, reducing downforce angles, setting correct ride height and closing the radiator opening will allow you to reach higher top speeds without the need for as much hybrid boost.

    I enjoy PC2 but still so many bugs and glitches tyres always reset to hard and gear ratios change, settings change if you go into a lobby with different settings loading into a lobby often just freeze or leaving you with waiting on the bottom on the screen

      Maybe you're too early on the throttle or just going too fast. You can try more rear downforce, softening rear anti-roll bar and tuning the traction control. Try the Race Engineer too. Some of the cars are a bit slidy on default loose setup so try the stable setup too if it's better for you. You also might have incorrect FOV for your setup, I find it makes a big difference for me, there are calculators online like Project Immersion.

      Maybe need more downforce? Ask the engineer ingame?

    How often can I use KERS per lap? There is no limit, isn't it? Is this true for all classes?

    • @devontoms7936
      @devontoms7936 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      RogerDipsy for Prototypes, I would say in real life there is no restrictions on when you can use it, just know when to use it or you’ll get passed 🏎 💨 🚗

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use it as often as you like throughout the lap, providing you have KERs or Hybrid energy available to deploy, and haven't gone over their maximum amount allowed per lap.
