I realised that "flesh of the shamans fuses harmoniosly with other" but doesn't the flowers do the same in the area? I personally think its all wildflowers and I dont think that kind of landscape happens by itself. I think there is something more to this whole grafting and fusing concept and that the source is something we haven't quite figured out tet.
fun fact about the ancient dragon lightning: the Crucible is described as a tree on the Siluria's Tree greatspear, its also described as being red on multiple other Crucible Knight items. several ancient dragon lightning variants come in the form of a red central trunk with two branches, implying they're visually based on the physical Crucible. if you want to go further with it the crucible's current is described as being a spiral by the Spira incantation. the Bolt Of Gransax is a spiralling version of the other ancient dragon lightning.
@@blizzardgaming7070 the sword is actually just a fragment of an arrowhead. the full arrowhead would be much bigger. the old gods having an arsenal of weapons also suggests conflict. in my speculatory opinion, I believe the old gods were linked with Placidusax, as he's referred to as an "old lord", and we now know the link between gods and lords is significant. It's likely that Placidusax was the lord to one of these old gods and likely lost his first head in the conflict during this time. (He had 5 heads, but Old Lord Talisman depicts him with only 4 heads, and then he loses 2 more heads to Bayle)
I mean the horned warriors and ascetics but all three variants of inquisitors you can not I even tried cause I really felt like no one had just tried farming them yet But maybe a patch note or something could add it
Chances are people already found this but im gonna mention 2 details i think are cool. 1: when you stand near the frenzy flame stone, depending on what armament you have on your head, the flames coming out of your eyes go outward first then upward. This shows it has to escape the helmet then goes up. Meanwhile if ypu have nothing on the flames from your eyes just go up. 2: (probably the most obvious from day one but noone talks about it) torrent lowers his head when you shoot/throw projectiles.
The Japanese for "miko" they used in the game (for "Shaman Village" etc.) is _potentially_ gender-neutral. Normally it's written as 巫女 where the 2nd character means woman, but in Elden Ring they wrote it in a nonstandard way as 巫子 where the 2nd character means child. That's why I don't think it's a mistranslation, the translators specifically chose to translate 巫女 as "maiden" and 巫子 as "shaman".
巫子 and 巫女 are similar figures, unmarried women serving at a Shintō shrine. Only 巫子 (read as 'itako'), however, are specifically blind female mediums acting as a go-between for man and kami or other spirits. It does not have the connotation of 'child' except maybe for their celibacy.
In the DLC they may use the odd variant for the Shaman village, but in the base game they do use the normal version of "miko" all the time, any time you see the word "maiden" in English it's usually "巫女" in the Japanese. Meanwhile the ancestral follower "shamans" are referred to as "祭司" (Saishi) or "priest". I wonder if the use of "child" here isn't necessarily to specify gender-neutrality but rather that they represent the "youthful" past of the 巫女/maidens we know 🤔
@@PixelOverload That's an interesting idea. I'm leaning towards the "Empyreans and/or shamans were both genders" (cf Marika/Radigon) explanation but maidens being a homonym for shaman has got to mean something 🤔
Sorry to break this to you, but as a Japanese, 巫女 and 巫子 has exactly the same meaning as a shrine maiden which is specifically refer to unmarried young woman/priestess in a shrine. I can confirm that it is not gender-neutral word.
@@Staycoldyoung I don't know. It's probably some new outer god we've never heard of. I think we need to find all the occurrences of green metals in the game, and maybe we'll get a better idea of what kind of deity he might be. Sounds like an archaeological and analytical challenge from Fromsofware.
@@StaycoldyoungAlternative point: I heard that it could be a “gift” of The God of Rot, because the description states that it has, citing, “rusted nature”, which correlates with the ability of that Outer God to degrade things with its influence. Bonus point for Moore being friends with pests guys, who are obviously are worshipers of Rot.
If you watch the Frenzied Flame ending cinematic, the same huge red fingerprints from Midra's boss room are all over the buildings in Leyndell as everything begins to burn. It's not something anyone would notice first off since everything it on fire. But once you see them, they're everywhere.
@11:20 in regards to why the Black Gaeol Knight Greatsword doesn´t cast a shadow (CRACKPOT theory incoming): We do know from dataminers how every npc look like under their helmets/head decorations. The Black Gaeol Knight looks awfully close to Guts. Guts has his very well known main armament the Dragonslayer. During the journey with his new mates Isidro, Farnese and Serpico they met the little witch Schierke who led them to her mistress Flora. After some time they all got enchanted weapons from Flora. Serpico got a sylphian cape and a feather that can channel the power of wind, Isidro got a flame dagger and Farnese got a silver dagger. Upon the moment Schierke wanted to give Guts an enchanted Axe, he declines and tells her that he is more than comfortable fighting with his trusted sword. Upon further inspection Schierke notices that the Dragonslayer is eminating a very ominous and sinister Od (which is spiritual magnetism or the spiritual presence of all things in Berserk. E.g.: Qliphoth, which is a part of the Astral World is Dark, so dark aura creatures will be pull towards it, for they share the same "darkness"). Schierke notices that the Dragonslayer is having a shimmering aura around it. The reason why is that Guts has killed so many Apostles and Inhumans up to the point that the Dragonslayer is enchanted with the hundreds or thousands of victims blood and grudges and is now an object that is able to inhabit the Astral World (World of Spirits and the dead of Berserk) and damaging the inhabitants of the astral world to great effect. After this little Berserk lecture my ideas about the Gaeol Knight Greatsword being without shadow is: *you have to enchant it to make it "visible" in the physical world (your clip was in Farum Azula; basically I treat the base game as the "physical world") *it is only casting a shadow in the DLC, since it is basically the afterlife (it has similarities to the Astral World in Berserk, World of Spirits and the DEAD) and "all kind of death is gathering in the Land of Shadows" and the Dragonslayer is now a thing that inhabits this Land of Death/Astral World *it has an inherent kill count and if you kill a shit load of enemies/monsters/inhumans it will get it´s shadow back *Fromsoft just forgot to add a shadow texture to it (most likely case) That was a fun 10 minute writing, haha.
The imbument effect actually extends to ashes of war. Once you put the corresponding damage type on the weapon that way, its base elemental damage gets a huge boost. That's why you can put greases on it
I dont understand how people keep repeating that shaman was originally "miko", when literally showing on screen that the kanji are different. It actually translates as "itako", which means a blind priest(ess) who communes with spirits. Very importantly, the kanji used is specifically gender neutral, so a village of women does not hold up.
I think jori was supposed to be an actually fleshed out unique fight but was basically scrapped due to time constraints. There's a reason he would have a remembrance and a unique ost but ending up as what he is
10:11 iirc there’s only ever one time in the game where we see green, rusted metal and that’s with Moore’s armour set, shield and the Verdigris talisman. It’s said that its a gift from an outer god, more than likely one we haven’t encountered before. So now there seems to be a thread running between Rauh, the dragons, giant corpses (old gods?) and this new outer god. Then there’s the meteoric greatsword that is forged from a meteor. Did the old god find the meteor and thought “sheeit this looks like it’d make an awesome blade” or do they have a deeper connection to the stars and space? There’s definitely an entire narrative here that From is hinting at but not willing to tell and I’m losing sleep over it
It's possible that the three fingers are summoned by concentrations of immense suffering. The frenzied flame proscription being the only real example. Might be a bit of a stretch, but I think that the environment begins to change before the fingers appear, forming a sort of cocoon for the fingers to take root. If the three fingers were locked away by the golden order, I'd imagine it would be a holy sealed gateway instead of a burning fingerprint door. If this idea is true, then midra's suffering could slowly be transforming the surrounding area to house a new set of fingers
I haven't even finished the DLC. I killed the second main boss on my OG character and just started a new play through. This game is just soo good I'm gonna take my time with it. Can't wait for next masterpiece.
I’m stupid as hell. When he said “see what’s wrong with this picture” I said to myself “well obviously Leda doesn’t have that sword in the dlc so I guess the sword is the wrong thing” and then he revealed that it was the solitary great sword and that it doesn’t have a shadow. Then I realized it was his character and not Leda 😂
Considering how they were called "Shaman/Miko" my guess is that, their purpose was to be stewards of the tree. That's why Marika and Melina has that spell that sprouts a healing tree. They are glorified gardeners lol.
Marika wanted to humiliate the Hornsent and Enir Elim is filled with golden trees. It’s possible she specifically shaped her curse (the scadurtree) and her blessing for her new world (the erdtree) to be trees aswell, for the sole reason of further mocking the people that tortured her.
Jori having a remembrance make sense!, cuz the spirit calling bell he has in his neck had to be given to him by a shaman/spirit tunner, most likely it was Marika herself, and his remembrance his proof of faith to the tree.
The entities that killed this dragon could be the same ones that crippled Greyoll. We can see huge heads of some beings in the mountaintops and caelid but don't know much about them. The weapons might be theirs. Also, right next to greyoll are 2 of the heads of these huge beings. Maybe they killed this dragon and fought and lost to greyoll too, while crippling her?
I killed a sheep and it dropped a blood empyrion burgeon. I don't t k ow if that was discovered yet but yeah those can be farmed by sheep, at least at the michela cross right outside Rellana's arena
9:52 The it looks like a giant sword without the cross guard and handle. Under the stone it looks like it oxidizing, which suggests its made out of copper. The blade of Eochaid says its made out of copper to be a conduit for the user to "move it by their will alone." The briar greatsword and armor set also have copper barbed wire wrapped around it, maybe there's a connection to the giant sword in the dragon?
I wonder if there is anything significant about miquella being the only male empyrean. Especially with the shaman being all female, and all other named empyreans being female as well.
@metaknight5caldo definitely could be. But you'd think that St. Trina would have been declared the empyrean instead of miquella if that were the case no? Kind of like how Marika is the empyrean, but the radagon half is not mentioned as being so
I believe the giant dead dragon corpse is the “Charo” mentioned in “Charo’s Hidden Grave”. It would then make sense that it’s blood spilled out when it died and stained the whole area red. It’s already been established that blood can cause red buds in places it spilled.
As soon as I saw the cut 'remembrance' icon for the inquisitor, I instantly thought, 'this was probably the DLC's version of Godskin Duo'. Lol, people were memeing before the DLC that we were going to get 'Godskin Trio'. It turns out we nearly got that. What we saw there was probably 'Inquisitor Duo'.
I use the backstep attack on the madness perfumes....just like all the madness spells, it's all about tricking your opponent into thinking your doing one thing, and your actually doing another....its why if you use mostly madness spells, they all have similar animations so you never know if it's close range, never ending, long range, or can pivot....mind games lolol
I know it’s not the question you asked but I’ve still been so up in arms about the Blackgaol greatsword, cause it’s special move is called “Solitary Moon Slash” I was thought it was weird how “moon” is apart of the name yet the attack itself looks like the storm/wind based ashes of war, so I’m curious if maybe there’s a connection between said “moon” and the storms.
Don’t worry you’re not the only one that’s baffled by the name. I’ve seen a couple people try to make some moon connections but nothing convincing yet 😔
Some of my favorite things just combined in a way I would've never expected. MMA, game lore in general and Souls in particular, and manga/webcomics. I love this channel fr 😂💯
I was one of the ones that pointed out the other feint weapons in the last video, so it's fun to see you include it in the follow-up. I tend to come across a lot of these discoveries one way or another prior to seeing your videos, but they're always worth the watch just for the chance to come across something new and interesting. Even if I knew I wouldn't learn anything, I'd give it a watch anyway if nothing else but to support the channel. Cool to hear about your comic by the way man, that's definitely exciting so I hope everything goes well with it. Keep up the awesome work as always. I hope to hear news from and be able to follow you when From announces their next title.
3:20 at first I was like "oh great... an advertisement." I was about to skip it until I saw that it was something cool. I'll definitely check out the comic.
I think Shaman Village is a mistranslation. Shaman most of the time is either a neutral or negative word while "miko" (shrine maiden/shrine priestess) is almost always positive and prestigious.
@@KrimmyKrimthe video talks about the possible reasoning behind the word is gender, while my comment is more about the emphasis of positive or negative notions of the words, at least in the context of frequent used English. Like how magic users can be called mage/caster/wizard but witch is a much more negative word.
I think they used shaman cause they typically are said to commune with spirits. That and in the context of the culture that shaman resided in they were fairly well regarded, bit of an older time though.
Y'know, I just thought of something. Metyr's song is eerily similar to godskin theme (So similar that I hummed the godskin song when I heard Metyr's song expecting it to be the godskin's song), the symbol of godskin is Metyr's face (which is similar to the imagery of wombs), and Metyr's eye is purple or gloam. There has to be a very big connection there
Something else to consider about the Shaman Village, 2:17 if this is a village of women only, and the black knife assassins are rumored to be women with some connection with Marika, does this confirm Marika's involvement in Godwyn's death?
the greatsword of solitude actually talks about it partially representing light, while its unique skill says that it conjures light to create an attack. so maybe it can't cast a shadow because it acts as a light source
The thing about weapons like the Clayman's Harpoon, Fire Knight Shortsword/Greatsword, Black Steel Twinbalde and Black Steel Hammer is that this also applies to the Affinities that would normally add whatever elemental damage they innately have already, making them particularly strong. For example on my 22/18/60 (Str/Dex/Fth) build here's the comparison of the Zweihander and Fire Knight's Greatsword with the Flame Art Affinity while 1-handed, this is using Chritt's build calculator; Zweihander; 784.88 AR, (321.44 Phys, 463.43 Fire) Fire Knight's GS; 872.82 AR (271.3 Phys, 601.52 Fire) That is a big difference, plus the elemental split is more focused, being roughly 32/68 as opposed to 40/60. This applies to the other weapons like that, the only notable exception being the Clayman's Harpoon being outclassed by the Cross-Naginata with 60 Int and the minimum requirements for the CN, however every other Spear with the Magic Affinity is outclassed by the Clayman's Harpoon. Then again the Cross-Naginata is more like a Light Halberd with that amazing moveset. The only one of these that is mostly outclassed by other ones with the Affinity that boost it's innate elemental damage is the Fire Knight's Shortsword which is generally outclassed by the Wakizashi and Erdsteel Dagger consistently. However to be fair to the FKS the Wakizashi and Erdsteel Dagger aren't exactly normal Daggers, I mean the Erdsteel Dagger has the Faith scaling effecting both it's Physical and Fire/Holy damage and the Wakizashi is basically a tiny Katana. When compared to the more traditional Daggers that can have different Affinities it either matches or outperforms them. The only problem is that the Erdsteel Dagger and FKS overlap in what builds they work on.
That Jori remembrance looks like it was intended to be a duo fight, considering the lack luster move set on the big inquisitors and Jori not being all that impressive it looks like a case of demoting a boss or the duo fight wasn't working that well so they scrapped that idea.
When it comes to the Blackgoal greatsword I think it has to do with the name of it's weapon art (that is if it isn't a bug.) "Solitary moon slash." Ranni's dark moon is invisible everywhere but the royal moongazing grounds. Perhaps that's why?
I saw another creator cannot remember who sorry. He theorised that the large dragon was actually greyolls mate when the lands were connected and that one of those dead giants who's skulls litter the world slaughtered him. Evidence also showing two enormous skulls right next to greyoll could suggest she fought them off but also suggesting that she doesn't move because she has been gravely wouded
The 'shaft' of the weapon sticking out of Big Red may have been made of bronze or copper, based on the greenish coloring on the trench. Copper oxidizes green, and we can see in the rust splotches all over the Giants Mountaintops that From does pay attention to metal oxidation in their environments. I know this is a stretch, but in my mind the "giant copper spear" seems like it was either infused with something like Cragblade or coated with magma before it was thrown, and then the enhancement was left behind when the weapon was retrieved. My favorite detail from that whole thing is that Big Red was in the middle of flaming when it was hit; there's a scorch track pointing straight from her mouth toward's Igon's tower, where I imagine a much younger Igon was almost roasted. This also makes it seem like Big Red died fairly recently (decades rather than centuries), and was definitely killed when the 'enhanced spear' hit her dead center in the base of the skull while she was in the middle of a fight with a guy throwing enhanced toothpicks at her.
My guess is, that dragon lady right next to that dead dragon stuck that tap in it after she killed it while in her dragon form. If you look at the chest cavity you can also see a gaping wound. I think dragon lady carved out its heart to help facilitate dragon communion too.
The needle on Leda's helmet reminds me of an arrowhead, which is interesting because I've never noticed the couple of similarities between Miquella and Cupid before. I.e. able to compel affection and being forever young.
Hey! I wonder if we don't have a few more lore about the Godskin in this DLC. If you ever noticed, godskins share animal features, being snakes, which is the main thematic of the volcano manor and probably the reason why you fight one here. The volcano manor has many items linking it to "an ancient practice forgotten of all". And Tanith has a crucible knight following her, and well, Inquisitors are following the crucible as well as explained by the spell "Spira". This is basically the hornsent religion. There could be here a connection to the shadow lands, being a practice from the hornsent that was carried to the land between, and was mostly forgotten after it was hidden. It could also explain the idea that they are seen as heretic in the lands betweens. There is also a big thematic in the volcano manor evoking one from the DLC: Melding with others. In the end, this "old practice" could be the one of the shaman that was used by the hornsent to create "saints", you know, potentate and things like that. They might have use it to grant animalistic features to shamans to ascend in one way or the other, trying to mimic the horsent and their natural animal features. Maybe, by the way, this is the practice that led to creating the potentates. This connection is enlighten by the dead snake found near the potentate village, close from where you find the "O'Mother" gesture. And this ritual might be what used Rykard to become one with the God devouring snake. Godskin might not be that stranger to the Hornsents. And in fact, they might be some. But they weren't birds or lions, they were snakes. If you read the Godskin noble robe description its says "Nobles are the most ancient apostles who are said to have assimilated inhuman physiology. Not unlike the crucible, the Erdtree in its primordial form.". They could also be linked to the Lamenter, which cast a hex during is fight that is a slowing homing projectile that is similar to blackflame, and when he disappear to create his clone, he also disappear in blackflames. And his curse also release blackflames... And the same happens when you use the mask. Its description says: "This transformation tallies with the state of a denizen of paradise, but the people of the tower denied and hid it from the world. In their foolishness, they viewed true bliss with deep fear." Which echoes a bit to the Volcano cult, which was denied and hidden from the world, and is viewed with deep fear as well, just as the serpents. While the followers see it as a true blessing. To come back to the Godskin, I think that they might have been forbidden by their own kind one way or the other, probably because of their link with the snakes. I'm pretty confident that the snake is not feared only by the golden order. Between the god devouring one, and the abyssal serpent in the eye of Messmer, the snakes are basically a bane to everything, and the only thing that can damage the thorns and the Erdtree. Godskin are probably discidents that decided to push the potentate stuff a bit further, and tried to make Shaman x snake kind of stuff, probably to become one with the God devouring snake, which is what Rykard eventually did in the end. Where you fight the Godskin noble in Volcano manor, you find on the altar right behind him the serpent amnion, which description says " Amnion from the mother's womb which cradled the poor unwanted offspring of a repellent birthing ritual. It will never dry out, remaining damp indefinitely." And the ritual might have been discovered by the gloam eyed queen, because of the description of the Godskin swaddling cloth: "Sacred cloth of the Godskin Apostles, made from supple skin sewn together. Successive attacks restore HP. The Gloam-Eyed Queen cradles newborn apostles swaddled in this cloth. Soon they will grow to become the death of the gods." If Godskin are no Hornsent, maybe the Gloam eye queen found a way to give people the hornsent divine power though melting skin, creating this "birthing ritual" to create the Godskin, which are human given hornsent divine animalistic power. I'd make a last comparison between the Hornsent and the Godskin, with the spell "Spira". It says "The spiral is a normalized Crucible current that, one day, will form a column that stretches to the gods." and the Godslayer greatsword is, well basically that. The blade is a spiral, and well, it can "touch the gods". It is the only that could harm them, destined death. But what is interesting is the recurring spiral theme. There is also another interesting thing, on what purpose the Godskin, the Volcano manor, or even the Lamenter, have in this world. Because of what the concept of God is in Elden Ring. Are they really a good thing? In the end, the snakes, that are linked to the power to kill gods (Rune of death originally held by the Godskins, God eating serpent, Abyssal serpent allowing to burn the Edrtree, a divine symbol, that kind of thing), might not be the enemies of the Hornsent or the numens, or anyone in the lands between. They are feared because they can burn the Erdtree, or kill Gods. They are their enemies, their predator. This could echoes a bit the Lamenter, one sent from heaven, that everyone decided to fear while he was salvation. The snakes were maybe not the enemies of the land between and the lands of shadow, and were maybe initially their protector.
It would also make sense if bayle's arena is colored with the tint used in the sunset for his boss fight, maybe he also uses red lighting, with the same tint effect
The Blackgaol Knight Greatsword doesn't cast a shadow because it's a moon-blessed sword of solitude. Just as the Blackgaol Knight protects the mausoleums that are nameless, his blade does not carry a shadow. In the base game, Ranni is the one who promises a thousand-year voyage of solitude, and she repealed all connections to Radagon/her own body in life, and slew her own two fingers/had her own shadow imprisoned in a "blackgaol"-- the Evergaol (black is the color of eternal-coded stuff). We also know that the shadows are loyal as dogs, and some like Malenia will literally entitle themselves as "Blade of __" This blade is one of promised solitude, and so it carries no shadow. As for why he carries a repeating crossbow, I think it can be understood through the lore of the arrows: Arrow's Sting was forged from soldiers, the Arrow's Reach was forged in the hunting of beasts. Soaring Sting conjoined both together (like a Shadow being both a wolf and a loyal knight), and the Sharpshot explains why the Albinauric are awesome and feared archers (not unlike Marika and Maliketh's relationship before she stole destined death, or Ranni with Blaidd). The Repeating Crossbow represents the cycle: Evergaol. The Eternity of the Caged Divinity.
Did you know the Stormveil Knights/Banished Knights once hailed from the Tower Folk or were subjects under their domain of control/influence? The implications make an interesting case for the dragons being the ones whom ruled even over the hornsent in this era whom already had evidence for this
I think the blacksteel/fire knight weapons imbue means to infuse. While other weapons split their AR evenly between physical and a given element when infused, these weapons actually get a bonus/lean into the elemental damage. Though could be talking about weapon buffs in addition.
As for the massive weapon used to kill the massive dragon, I would imagine it was made by the giants. Then again, I guess really powerful gravity magic could've been used as well, though I don’t know who that specifically would've been lore wise.
Its called “Greatsword of Solitude” and in description it says “they engraved their blades with two crests: one depicting the light of birth, and the other, solitude”
The big weapon in the massive dragon looks far more like a sword blade. It's got a tang where the handle mounts (spear heads and arrows are generally mounted with sockets) and the channel is a fuller which is designed to reduce the weight of a blade while maintaining strength
I would like to point out that the solitude sword does have a weapon art that references the moon (Solitary Moon Slash), and how the sword itself is similarly shaped to the dark moon greatsword. Maybe there's some untold lore between the Knights of Solitude and Ranni. I would also like to point out that the Dancer was seen in the Cerulean Coast in the trailer, as well as the Solitude armor & crossbow was shown in the open world as well. Maybe there was some cut content regarding the npc fights seen at the nameless mausoleums that might've shed light on the characters we fight.
I wonder if the old gods are the giant skeletons we see in game. They could have been shadow realm residents who ascended via the Divine Gate. Could explain why the Abandoned Forges were used and abandoned as well (to create the Giant Forge). Marika’s veiling of the Shadow Realm could have happened during her conquest of the giants as a way of ensuring no new challengers could ascend.
i think jori could’ve been cool as a rememberance if it was more like a godskin duo fight with more spells involved, for instance big boi could be more melee focused while jori is in the back doin spell bs (take the summoning out completely tho unless it was for a move like tibias summon)
I think magic and incantations pull from the same source so purple gravity magic and sleep magic come from same "attraction" based energy, orange dragon lightning and frenzied flame do to, blood and thorn sorcery from same source. Formless mother and red glintstone at the root are same thing, and so are any other pairs of magics-faiths.
Along with the likelihood of a lighting glitch, the lightning used by Bayle is specifically called Fire Lightning. Which is fascinating from a thematic viewpoint, because it’s the exact elemental opposite of the lightning used by the Dragonkin Soldiers, who Bayle already has a circumstantial relation with. Also for Jori, I kinda do wish they’d put in the time to make it a Remembrance boss. If the fat one had been a souped up version of the other fat boys, then I think it could’ve made for an engaging gank fight rather than him summoning a shitload of minions to spam magic. Instead, the fight could’ve functioned similarly to Friede’s second phase, where you focus your aggression on the horizontally tall lad while Jori provides ranged support against you
The great sword of solitude doesn’t cast a shadow because of its ties to the moon and being alone even from the sun, and the Heineken bottle in DS2 in an in universe reference to the fact that the designers were blind drunk when making that game
There is a very interesting theory, by lore youtuber Zayf the Scholar about the big dead dragon. He thinks, that the giants killed him, which would also solve some other mysteries. The video is called: "It was THEM all along!? - Solving the Mystery Leads to Farum Azula's Past Elden Ring Lore Theory"
@@Am_Kosmos well I know it from him, so I obviously use his video as the source, didnt saw anyone else ponting that out. Which doesent nessessarily meen he was the first one, but I´m not going to search through the whole internet, to find someone who had that theory earlyer, just to write that commend lol
4:08 I think the description is trying to tell you to infuse your weapon at the BLACKSMITH to recieve the extra elemental damage, not coating the weapon.
@ProfOrProf lays out a great narrative that attempts to explain the origins of the dragons. His telling goes like this: In the ancient past during the age of the original Giants (those big bois in the cliff sides), they worshipped something akin to the Fell God and its flame. As a part of their worship, they began to craft artificial life in the Forge of the Giants. That ability would refine in time and lead to the creation of the ancient dragons. One of these giants was seduced by an Outer God to eat the heart of one a dragon, the origin of dragon communion. Since Bayle is referred to as the oldest and first of the drakes, it follows that he would be that ancient giant. In short, the prigins of the dragons goes incredibly far back to a time before even the Greater Will, when ancient Giants ruled the Land Between and developed the first artificial life.
I imagine the lightening changes colour is similar to the Astel wing changing near the boss fight location in base game. I imagine some files are coded so that they act differently in set conditions or areas.

fun fact about the ancient dragon lightning:
the Crucible is described as a tree on the Siluria's Tree greatspear, its also described as being red on multiple other Crucible Knight items. several ancient dragon lightning variants come in the form of a red central trunk with two branches, implying they're visually based on the physical Crucible. if you want to go further with it the crucible's current is described as being a spiral by the Spira incantation. the Bolt Of Gransax is a spiralling version of the other ancient dragon lightning.
Could the unusual giant corpses in Caelid that are unexplained to this day be the corpses of these "Old gods"?

(He had 5 heads, but Old Lord Talisman depicts him with only 4 heads, and then he loses 2 more heads to Bayle)
Dragons Peak is next to Caelid when you put the shadowrealm back on the normal map
I think the main thing that bothers me now is none of the inquisitor gear is available you can’t even get those weird little candles they hold
Can’t you get their helm? Or am I crazy?
I mean the horned warriors and ascetics but all three variants of inquisitors you can not I even tried cause I really felt like no one had just tried farming them yet
But maybe a patch note or something could add it
Chances are people already found this but im gonna mention 2 details i think are cool.
I wonder if the use of "child" here isn't necessarily to specify gender-neutrality but rather that they represent the "youthful" past of the 巫女/maidens we know 🤔
The "Miko" used is the gender neutral version, so while it is probably mostly women in the village, there had to have been males as well.

Moore's armor is in a green metal like the big sword in the dragon's head. The item description says that this green metal is linked to an outer god
Oh shit what outergod do you think it could be
@@Staycoldyoung I don't know. It's probably some new outer god we've never heard of. I think we need to find all the occurrences of green metals in the game, and maybe we'll get a better idea of what kind of deity he might be.
Sounds like an archaeological and analytical challenge from Fromsofware.
@@Staycoldyoungprobably the fell god of fire, the fire giants disc is also made of verdigris
@@StaycoldyoungAlternative point: I heard that it could be a “gift” of The God of Rot, because the description states that it has, citing, “rusted nature”, which correlates with the ability of that Outer God to degrade things with its influence. I don't think Jori deserves a rememberence, but I would've like a spirit ash of the big fat inquisitor.
If you watch the Frenzied Flame ending cinematic, the same huge red fingerprints from Midra's boss room are all over the buildings in Leyndell as everything begins to burn. It's not something anyone would notice first off since everything it on fire. But once you see them, they're everywhere.
@11:20 in regards to why the Black Gaeol Knight Greatsword doesn´t cast a shadow (CRACKPOT theory incoming):
We do know from dataminers how every npc look like under their helmets/head decorations.
After this little Berserk lecture my ideas about the Gaeol Knight Greatsword being without shadow is:
*you have to enchant it to make it "visible" in the physical world (your clip was in Farum Azula; basically I treat the base game as the "physical world")
*it is only casting a shadow in the DLC, since it is basically the afterlife (it has similarities to the Astral World in Berserk, World of Spirits and the DEAD) and "all kind of death is gathering in the Land of Shadows" and the Dragonslayer is now a thing that inhabits this Land of Death/Astral World
*it has an inherent kill count and if you kill a shit load of enemies/monsters/inhumans it will get it´s shadow back
*Fromsoft just forgot to add a shadow texture to it (most likely case)
That was a fun 10 minute writing, haha.
The imbument effect actually extends to ashes of war. Once you put the corresponding damage type on the weapon that way, its base elemental damage gets a huge boost. That's why you can put greases on it
We been Knowing this idk y its in the vid
I dont understand how people keep repeating that shaman was originally "miko", when literally showing on screen that the kanji are different. It actually translates as "itako", which means a blind priest(ess) who communes with spirits. Very importantly, the kanji used is specifically gender neutral, so a village of women does not hold up.
Clock that bitch, girlie!
I mean, if Jori had like.. a real boss moveset and not an enemy's one, he definitively deserves a remembrance
I just love the title "Inquisitor" a lot
Maybe the BlackGaol Knight sword has no shadow because it's ash of war is called "Solitary Moon Slash" and the moon is hidden when the sun is out.
😂
I think jori was supposed to be an actually fleshed out unique fight but was basically scrapped due to time constraints. There's a reason he would have a remembrance and a unique ost but ending up as what he is
I think it's a fun fight, seems more unique than Radahn

I’m convinced that the shaman village has more to it.
There might even be a whole other game in there. We should sue FromSoftware
Considering how they were called "Shaman/Miko" my guess is that, their purpose was to be stewards of the tree. That's why Marika and Melina has that spell that sprouts a healing tree. They are glorified gardeners lol.
Yes. It's buried in the bible GRRM wrote, that Miyazaki keeps in his safe, never to see the light of day.
Obligatory thanks for making these videos, still discovering things I didn't know like the red lighting trick! Keep up the good work Ziostorm
10:00 the only ones that could wield such an object are the big skulls found in caelid
Seems like the weapon in the back of the giant dragon's head, might not be a weapon
I have a wild guess that it's a fulgurite
Marika wanted to humiliate the Hornsent and Enir Elim is filled with golden trees. It’s possible she specifically shaped her curse (the scadurtree) and her blessing for her new world (the erdtree) to be trees aswell, for the sole reason of further mocking the people that tortured her.
Interesting that the fell god is shown having horns all around him. Maybe the fell god was act6ually a hornsent who had obtained godhood
Jori having a remembrance make sense!, cuz the spirit calling bell he has in his neck had to be given to him by a shaman/spirit tunner, most likely it was Marika herself, and his remembrance his proof of faith to the tree.
We don't tolerate Jori slander!!
Very minor thing, but when Miquella exits the gate of divinity, you can briefly hear an oracle envoy's horn.
Shaman was probably the orignal word because George wrote the lore in english
Congrats on releasing your comic, finishing things is tough!

I wonder if there is anything significant about miquella being the only male empyrean. Especially with the shaman being all female, and all other named empyreans being female as well.
Maybe bc he can transform to a ladyboi
Maybe because he has St Trina as his other half
@metaknight5caldo definitely could be. But you'd think that St. Trina would have been declared the empyrean instead of miquella if that were the case no? Kind of like how Marika is the empyrean, but the radagon half is not mentioned as being so
I believe the giant dead dragon corpse is the “Charo” mentioned in “Charo’s Hidden Grave”. It would then make sense that it’s blood spilled out when it died and stained the whole area red. It’s already been established that blood can cause red buds in places it spilled.
could be so. since drakes dont end their names in -sax!
As soon as I saw the cut 'remembrance' icon for the inquisitor, I instantly thought, 'this was probably the DLC's version of Godskin Duo'.

I think Shaman Village is a mistranslation.
Shaman most of the time is either a neutral or negative word while "miko" (shrine maiden/shrine priestess) is almost always positive and prestigious.
Maybe the numen is the general term while shaman is for female numen only?
Yeah it's been talked about by everyone. That exact point you made. It's not new.
@@angpham941 which also kinda makes you think about how "witch" is an inherently female term. Cultures, amirite?

the greatsword of solitude actually talks about it partially representing light, while its unique skill says that it conjures light to create an attack. so maybe it can't cast a shadow because it acts as a light source
The thing about weapons like the Clayman's Harpoon, Fire Knight Shortsword/Greatsword, Black Steel Twinbalde and Black Steel Hammer is that this also applies to the Affinities that would normally add whatever elemental damage they innately have already, making them particularly strong.
For example on my 22/18/60 (Str/Dex/Fth) build here's the comparison of the Zweihander and Fire Knight's Greatsword with the Flame Art Affinity while 1-handed, this is using Chritt's build calculator;
Zweihander; 784.88 AR, (321.44 Phys, 463.43 Fire)
Fire Knight's GS; 872.82 AR (271.3 Phys, 601.52 Fire)
That is a big difference, plus the elemental split is more focused, being roughly 32/68 as opposed to 40/60.
11:31. Solitary as always. Without so much as a shadow
That Jori remembrance looks like it was intended to be a duo fight, considering the lack luster move set on the big inquisitors and Jori not being all that impressive it looks like a case of demoting a boss or the duo fight wasn't working that well so they scrapped that idea.
ziostorm: why the sword cast no shadow?
me, a 99 faith build: is the greater will´s will will smith.
I use the Beast Claws back step attack in PVP all the time, if you have your spacing down, it can be a very good mixup enabler.
Congrats on the comic bro. Can’t wait to give it a read once I finish the video 🤙🏼
I’m probably one of the very few who still hasn’t beaten the DLC. I just got to the madness woods 😊
I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned faints have a follow up light attack that reclaims some of the ground lost when fainting
Feint attacks are now a staple for my heavy thrusting sword builds. Thank you
10:10 the green makes it look like it's made of verdigris which is heavily implied to be from the rot god.
Its description says:
"This transformation tallies with the state of a denizen of paradise, but the people of the tower denied and hid it from the world. In their foolishness, they viewed true bliss with deep fear."
Which echoes a bit to the Volcano cult, which was denied and hidden from the world, and is viewed with deep fear as well, just as the serpents.
Where you fight the Godskin noble in Volcano manor, you find on the altar right behind him the serpent amnion, which description says "
Amnion from the mother's womb which cradled the poor unwanted offspring of a repellent birthing ritual. It will never dry out, remaining damp indefinitely."
And the ritual might have been discovered by the gloam eyed queen, because of the description of the Godskin swaddling cloth: "Sacred cloth of the Godskin Apostles, made from supple skin sewn together. Successive attacks restore HP. The Gloam-Eyed Queen cradles newborn apostles swaddled in this cloth. Soon they will grow to become the death of the gods."
If Godskin are no Hornsent, maybe the Gloam eye queen found a way to give people the hornsent divine power though melting skin, creating this "birthing ritual" to create the Godskin, which are human given hornsent divine animalistic power.
We also know that the shadows are loyal as dogs, and some like Malenia will literally entitle themselves as "Blade of __"
This blade is one of promised solitude, and so it carries no shadow.
The Eternity of the Caged Divinity.
canon i guess
The finger prints in Midra's boss room remind me of radula (mollusk 'tongue') marking in algae covered rocks in the intertidal zone.
hey you know whats big enough to kill that dragon? those giant skeletons set into the landscape.
The big weapon in the massive dragon looks far more like a sword blade. It's got a tang where the handle mounts (spear heads and arrows are generally mounted with sockets) and the channel is a fuller which is designed to reduce the weight of a blade while maintaining strength
This made me realize I’ve been using feints the whole time because my strong attack key is the same as my dodge and spring
10:50 There is a theory video that it was a Giant who is also partake in dragon communion killed it.
i think jori could’ve been cool as a rememberance if it was more like a godskin duo fight with more spells involved, for instance big boi could be more melee focused while jori is in the back doin spell bs (take the summoning out completely tho unless it was for a move like tibias summon)
There is a bug with euphoria. If you wear the tree sentinel set and try to use the euphoria. It doesn't get buff or glows at least.
I could see the Jori fight originally having the ambitions to do something more like Ornstein and Smough before getting cut for time.
7:13 Jornstein and Mough
Considering the unused remembrance icon depicts both a small and large inquisitor, it was more likely for an entirely scrapped duo boss.
Instead, the fight could’ve functioned similarly to Friede’s second phase, where you focus your aggression on the horizontally tall lad while Jori provides ranged support against you
When is someone going to find the real secret ending?
The great sword of solitude doesn’t cast a shadow because of its ties to the moon and being alone even from the sun, and the Heineken bottle in DS2 in an in universe reference to the fact that the designers were blind drunk when making that game
I actually knew about the needle on the helm. Saw it when waiting against a fogwall while the host was buffing.
Everyone knows this. He ain’t the first one to say it.
Coulda been the giant hornsent hung in the specimen hall.
@@Am_Kosmos well I know it from him, so I obviously use his video as the source, didnt saw anyone else ponting that out. Which doesent nessessarily meen he was the first one, but I´m not going to search through the whole internet, to find someone who had that theory earlyer, just to write that commend lol
the spells you get with Bayle's heart have the orange lightning as well, no matter what time of day it is
I would've liked Jori being a remembrance boss for the extra lore about the Inquisitors at least. It's such a shame we don't get any of their gear.
Well I would say that orange lightning is not dragons but drakes
4:08 I think the description is trying to tell you to infuse your weapon at the BLACKSMITH to recieve the extra elemental damage, not coating the weapon.
In the frenzy ending you can see the chaos fire lit on the the building tops and beneath the flames are finger prints.
The weapon in the back of the giant dragons head is a giant version of the ‘Dragon Harpoon’ throwable.
