    This information is great. Thank you. I've never used chemical sunscreens on myself or my children but I have used zinc oxide creams when needed. We're Scots descent and Australia is the highest in the world for skin cancer. 40 years ago a Greek neighbour took pity on our British neighbour who burned every summer, and told him to take a Tablespoon of Olive Oil every day, and Clive never suffered sunburn again. Interestingly too, many people taking up the carnivore lifestyle find they don't suffer sunburn anymore. After 3 years I can say, for me, it also works. I can be outside all day in subtropical Queensland and don't burn, where prior a few hours was my limit. It's only anecdotal, but it would be great if someone could do proper research on it.

    This is such good information Danny. I live in the tropics and the sun can be brutal but I always had a hesitation regarding sunscreens.

    I understood (do your own research) that coconut oil acts as a factor 6 against the sun. I worked out years ago that it was the sun cream that caused many issues. My friend (red head), ALWAYS suffered a huge rash and prickly heat. He would put on more sun cream and the rash would get bigger and bigger the more he put on. Intelligent guy now in his 50's and still can't see what's happening.

      You shouldn't be taking it anyway, yes he is correct on the benefits listed here, also melatonin is highly beneficial for those with dementia.
      Unless your 70+ or have chronic sleep issues and I mean chronic, don't take it!!!

    Read the book _Why Are There No Fat People In Colorado?_ in which the author shows how sunlight, specifically its ultra-violet wavelength, aids the human body in controlling body weight.

      This is a very touchy subject since melatonin is not a drug. Here’s some information for reference. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8123278/#:~:text=Results%20showed%20the%20involvement%20of,effects%20of%20conventional%20anticancer%20therapies.

    Does anyone know if the use of these natural alternatives to the standard chemical sunscreens will decrease the body's ability to produce vitamin D from sun exposure?

    • @davenockels5028
      @davenockels5028 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes

    • @natural-informant
      @natural-informant  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vitamin D production will always be inhibited to some degree when UV light is absorbed (chemical) or blocked (mineral). In the same way, the darker your skin, the less Vitamin D you make.
