@@CoronaJoe 😂 nope she's still here but the car has been long gone. Currently sitting on a 2016 GT 350 R, 2019 Ford Raptor which belongs to my gf, a 1986 Mustang SVO and a 2014 Raptor with its transfer case stuck on 2H.
I just bought one, and all I can say is: "Oh Hell Yea!".... This thing is a monster and worth every penny. I can't believe it's taken me so long to finally buy one. And for the guy that talked about the M3, I had one and there's no comparison between the two. Completely different animals. I got my 2010 GT 500 on Monday... Red with white stripes. It is simply the best car I have ever owned. I sold my 2007 GT 500 and I thought that one was great. This one is even more impressive. If you can get one......get one!!!
in my whole life i've had 7 vehicles all sorts from ford to chevy to dodge to honda, there is just one maker that has brought me exactly what i wanted, a car that is actually fun to drive.
that is a hot car, i was at this mini mart around where i live and this car pulled up and i took a look and the dude did a burnout and reved the engine and it was NIIICCCCCEEEE!
I have a 2010 all black in and out, black glass, black chrome wheels, it has 1,990 miles to this day love it, it sits alone side of a 2008 GT 500 Vista blue white stripes with 100 miles, never been registered love them both !
if you got the number from topgear your wrong it does have 500 horsepower they got 447 because they measured brake horsepower while we measure it the crank.
OHV engines have the camshaft below the cylinder head, and thus use lifters and pushrods to help actuate the valves that are in the cylinder head. Compared to OHC engines, they allow for better packaging, but are less efficient compared to OHC designs due to increased valvetrain mass. To open a valve, the camshaft pushes on a lifter, which pushes a pushrod, which pushes on a rocker am, which opens the valve.
I have to agree with you . I was in the market for either this or the ZL1 camaro. I cant see out of the camaro and the interior on the Shelby is better in my opinion. I went with a new 2012 Shelby. What a blast it is to drive! i like the camaro but the Shelby was the one for me. The only thing I hate about it are the stock tires.
looked that up and the mustang was on drag radials, how come you left that part of the story out? put drag radials on the cts-v and the we'll see. Also you can't deny that the caddy would destroy the shebly on a track as well.
@sevenoh9 Read Motortrend test of the Gt500. They said the amount of power is difficult to control. I believe they stated that with slicks, a Gt500 will be "well under four seconds to 60 all day long". Ford did get a flat 12 at 119mph with a 2011 Gt500.
Great presentation of the 2010 Shelby GT 500 , I have a convertible 2010 Shelby GT 500 , performance white with red racing stripes !! Great vehicle I love it !!!
What cars have you been in? And just because they don't have the growl of the V8 doesn't mean it's crap, it still sounds good. But then V8s can't rev as high and then that's where they seem hard pushed, where as 4 cylenders will go to 9,000 rpms.
No. Higher octane are used in higher compression ratio cars. When you use octane 87, the compression ratio is low, if you use lower octane in a high compression engine it will just ignite before the spark plugs ignites it. The higher the piston travels, the more pressure it produces, which in turns makes a hell of a lot of power. That is why performance cars have to use premium gas
wow. 12.4 is a very nice time for that car. best I've seen yet. The word on those cars is the stock tires really hurt its 1/4 mile times. I have been in between this car and a vette for a while. The 500hp stang has a hard time outrunning a base vette, but the new one @ 540 and a 12.4 is very nice. Love the looks too. The vette still gets 27mpg though, as long as you're not smoking them at every stoplight. Who am I kidding, I'm buying the car to drive it, not garage it. Stang it is.
I HAVE SCENE THIS VIDEO A BUNCH OF TIMES AND I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE 2 SUPERSNAKES AND A GT500 AND A SHELBY GT.LOL DREAMS CAN COME TRUE JUST NEVER GIVE UP UNTIL YOU REACH YOUR GOAL.
i hope they fixed the crappy gear box - its problem is that the response time between gears is tooooo long and the automatic switchs often too late down.
Yes, but that's what quicker means. And the Focus Rs doesn't stand a chance against the new 2010 GT500 in a track. It's more track tuned, and more powerful then the old one. The 2009 Focus Rs got a time of about 8:26 on the Nürburgring, while the Camaro SS (which has about 114 hp less then the Shelby GT500, weighs about the same, and isn't as built for the track) got a time of about 8:20.
I can tell from just by looking at the video the mustang has only one obvious flaw. the tires don't seem to be getting any good traction or grab from the start. Does anyone know a good tire to replace the stock ones on the mustang ? it would be a shame to have such a good car fall to this one Achilles heel.
@sevenoh9 It's because the boss has a front splitter which gives you more down force. which means better traction. You put that on the shelby and you will destroy those times.
n9athan, there are excellent car manufacturers in most countries and TVR was one of ours that made your hairs stand on end when you fired up the engine and pushed the gas pedal, but an American V8 is something special.
i could be very wrong but i thought the base corvette was about 50k 400hp the ZO6 was about 75k 505hp and the ZR1 more closer to 105k 620hp.... and well the GT500 is also like 45k 540hp yea it might not handle as well as the zr1 but u save a whole lot of money
OHC engines don't have the weight of the pushrod to overcome. While the weight of a pushrod & lifter is seemingly insignificant, when you consider it can account for more than 15% of the valvetrain mass, and it has to open a valve up to 6000 times a minute (or more), it adds up to measurable difference. It's all about inertia - the less weight it has to move, the less energy is required to open the valve, and thus, there is more energy that can be transferred to the crankshaft -
well the focus is basically a rally car so the fact it goes around a track a second faster than a car made for straight lines doesnt suprise me.. And the focus is nearly the same price as a gt500... Honestly, what would you rather have?
The 2010 Shelby is a blast to drive and sports a gorgeous interior. Muscle has evolved, it handles, looks better than ever, has interior refinement and for the $ is a performance bargain....Without a doubt vs the Challenger and Camaro FORD has done the best job of achieving the best power to weight ratio, good handling and a hot interior, new generation mustangs are at the top of the EVOLVED MUSCLE category!
I want to buy some GT500 Tires, how can I tell that they are real GT500 tires? is there a stamp on them or something that tells them apart from the normal Goodyear FT supercar tires? (I plan on getting 285/40/18)
just want to point a couple of things out incase u want to get one 1) it doesn't have 500bhp it has 447 2) it has cheap live axle suspention so it has alot of understeer 3) the only good thing is the price 4) hard to controll 5) no driver aids
@princeofroyalty2 It has a live rear axle, which means the power isn't actually getting put down until probably 3rd gear lol. The new mustang gt runs about the same time, because they actually figured out how to make the tractor axles work. Still a sweet car though.
Just gonna say one thing.... fully loaded under 50 grand pulling in those numbers...... YES PLEASE!! ill take one. Not to mention that it looks incredible!
when i said price point i was comparing stang and vette the camaro is a brand new, very cool, very fast car featured and shown off in 2 major hit motion pictures... did anyone not expect it to outsell mustang? when i was talking about outselling, i was talking about the years back. why do you think camaro seized production in the first place? it's sales couldn't keep up. we will see if camaro is worth all of the hype if it remains in production for more than 2 years.
@demanfromdelmonte would be right if you had the right year -.- 2009 Gt500 had 500CRANK HP... this year has 540HP and 2013 is having a 650 HP to destroy the ZR1 .. or ZL1 that only has 560 plus the New gt500 has a ... 210MPH chassis i believe
I see ford are still using the old suspensions on the new gt 500's too that's why it takes so long for it to get traction when it's starting off it just wheelspins for about 100 meters still though with brand new suspensions they would increase the production cost by about 5 grand and about 8 grand for the buying price
I want this one day (if i get a good enough job) but will it be odd to own this in the UK? Do they make this with steering wheel on right side? I've never seen anyone in UK with a ford mustang, will people smash it because a lot of british dont like americans?
Ford doesnt put IRS in the shelby's due to drag racing origin.. besides if u want torque and power u want a solid axle.. IRS would make it a better track car but not by much.. u can get steeda suspension for that..
it kinda funny, cause people run there mouth bout mustang but the mustang beats challenger and camaro. let the horsepower do the talking not the looks, but i think the mustang looks the best anyway.

@BEBNC1 Also hard to ignore the fact that Roush ditched the live axle for IRS. Simply no denying that independent rear is superior.
@eaglebilt
It's 550bhp for the 2011. Also has an aluminum block so it won't be as nose heavy.

It's when they let the car creep a little before hitting the gas hard. Otherwise it would spin the tires more and slow the 0-60 times.
