  • Is it wrong for a Christian to serve in the military? Of course, Christians wonder about this sometimes, because we know that we’re supposed to love our neighbor as ourselves, and going to war against your neighbor hardly seems like an expression of love towards him. That is a valid point, but I think that we need to go a little bit deeper and think about this. Learn more in today's Little Lesson!

      Exactly in the same position.
For Almighty God rules in the kingdoms of men.
But myriads of Christains would not now not be guilty of murdering other brothers in secular wars, and would have lived out their lives to Christ and their families accordingly.
Now they will be resurrected back to live on Judgment Day and condemned for refusing to obey Christ to love their enemies, and do good to those who hated them.
Also they will be guilty of killing their enemies, which again Christ forbids.

Did you mention Jesus' command to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us, turn the other cheek, resist not....? It's one thing to love our neighbors and quite another to love our enemies.
Jesus demonstrated this beautifully when he asked God to forgive his own murderers because they were acting in ignorance.
Non-resistance and meekness are not weakness-they are quite the contrary. MLK and others also powerfully demonstrated the superiority of love over hatred in obedience to Jesus' teachings about non-violence. Any black person who'd ever suffered from racism had more than enough reasons to strike back violently, and sometimes lethally against any racist white person!

With love, faith comes by hearing God's word (Romans 10:17). And let us all come into the unity of faith (Eph. 4).
    1. Is the American government worldly or part of God's kingdom?
-- Jesus says, "They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth" (John 17:16-17).
-- In the Hebrew language, the word "NATIONS" is identical with the word heathen -- Psalm 96:5; Psalm 2:1.
    2. What are the weapons that Christians should use on their enemies?
-- "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God" (2 Corinthians 10:4).
    3. With love, should we give our enemies food and water, or should we kill them?
-- "Let love be without hypocrisy [play-acting]. ... Repay NO ONE evil for evil. ... If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink ..." (Rom. 12:9-21).
    4. I now have been born from above -- a new birth brings new citizenship. Where is our new citizenship?
-- "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ" (Philippians 3:20).
-- Are there Christians in this nation? Yes, but ... Biblically, we belong to a kingdom, not a nation.
-- Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world: if My kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight ... BUT now My kingdom is not from here?
    5. What kind of mind are we to have?
-- The mind of Christ (Eph. 2:5).
    6. Do the Old Testament Wars come into play, NOW?
-- Jesus says, "You have said, an eye for an eye ... BUT I tell you NOT to resist an evil person" (Matthew 38-48). Because ...
--"The wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God" (James 1:20).
The work of the Gospel is to make peace between men and God--not war. Wherever a heart surrenders to God the spirit of militarism and nationalism must go (June 21, 1898). The person who believes that the voice of the people is the voice of God may want to reconsider:
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb ... they loved not their lives unto death" (Rev. 12:11).
    7. Does God regard it as less sinful to kill a thousand men than to kill one?
-- "Though they join forces, the wicked shall not be unpunished; but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered" (Proverbs 11:21).
    blessings, John

BUT, under the new covenant, Jesus clearly taught there should no longer be an eye for an eye legality, but rather a love for enemies and desire to preserve them for their hope of salvation through Him. Another important point is that wars commanded by God in antiquity were judgements, yet leaders declaring war today are seldom consecrated or sufficiently prayerful to know God's will. As a result, the USA has participated in several unjust wars which needlessly plunged otherwise redeemable souls into eternal hell, including many of our unsaved soldiers. Please pray for more revelation and Biblical accuracy on this topic.

I appreciate your channel, but this case is biblically and historically clear. Firstly, in OT there was one nation that followed (in principle at least) YHWH. Now, God's nation is composed of people from every country. How can a christian kill another christian and that be somehow acceptable? Also, early christians (Pre-Nicene) were unanimous about this and it was even customary to resign from military service, if possible, after baptism. If not possible, they had to swear they will not kill. We cannot swear oaths to human masters, and sacrifice our lives for a human government instead of our Heavenly King and His Kingdom.

Could the active non-violent love of Jesus be one of the missing links in Christianity? Christians can promote peace only by preaching the Gospel, which puts righteousness, quietness, and brotherliness into the lives of men and women. Christ is the Prince of peace. And peace is the absence of war.

You act as if all Jesus did was love no matter what but Jesus is the same god of the Old Testament and hates evil and the wickedness of evil men, one example would be Jesus over turning the money changers tables. What I’m gathering from you comments is that you think the god of the Old Testament and New Testament are two completely different gods. God does not want his people to just stand by while evil and wicked events occur. Do you think that god wouldn’t have harshly judge the United States if they just sat by while innocent Jewish people were killed by the millions? It’s clear and even god knows it there’s a time for peace and a time to step in and say enough is enough. Jesus said to love your neighbor and if everyone abided by that the world would be a perfectly peaceful place but this world is FAR from perfect and running rampant with sin and demons. Until the good lord returns there will be evil men doing evil things and we are not to sit by in certain situations (such as ww2 where millions were slaughtered). If I am persecuted because of my faith I will turn the other check and respond with love and kindness but if someone is attempting to take my life or the lives of others I will do everything in my power and along with gods help to defend myself/others.

@@D426-y2q God is love. *Please read, and then we can continue the conversation--in love.* Christ's word means everything. Faith comes by listening to God's word, not the voice of the people (Romans 10:17).
Jesus says, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a *WITNESS* to all the nations, and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14). The word WITNESS in the original Greek is MARTYRION. In other words, we are to be martyrs for Christ. We are not takers of life but to sacrifice our lives for Christ. The following verse is meaningful:
"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they *did not love their lives to the death"* (Revelation 12:11). The question becomes, do we overcome by the blood of the Lamb or by taking another human life?
Jesus says with love, "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' BUT [nevertheless] I tell you not to resist an evil person. ... BUT [now] I say to you, LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, bless those who curse you" (Matthew 5:38-48). In other words what you heard and saw in the Old Testament no longer applies (it's very simple).
"Let love be without hypocrisy [play-acting]" ... If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink" (Romans 12:9-21).
Jesus says now, "Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you." ... *If any say that national governments cannot be managed on that principle, they are right (Jeremiah 13:23). It's only another way of saying that Christ's kingdom is not of this world:*
Jesus says, "I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world" (John 17:14). I have simply given you God's holy word, and I have found that people hate me for it, but I have been called to be a MARTYR (a witness). "They [who have faith in His word] are NOT of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:16-17).
Our holy God says: "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God ... casting down HUMAN REASONING" and "bringing every thought into the captivity to the obedience of Christ .." (2 Corinthians 10:4-6). Let's remember, we belong to God's kingdom: "For our citizenship is in heaven" (Philippians 3:20). Also, those with faith "confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth" (Hebrews 11:13-16).
We know the Jews [God bless them], wanted a "military Jesus". They wanted Christ to overthrow the Romans so they could be reckoned with, in all the world. They did not understand that Jesus is the Savior of the WORLD. And the "Son of man is not come to destroy mens's lives, but to save them" (Read Luke 9:51-56). Christ says "LOVE YOUR ENEMY" and certainly can't be consistent with killing them.
The question is, does God regard it as less sinful to kill a thousand men than to kill one? His Word answers: *"Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished."* Proverbs 11:21. We all need to decide if we'll join forces with the nations or with God's Kingdom:
The Bible states that we are to have the mind of Christ: "Not I, but Christ" and "Let this mind be in you" (Galatians 2:20 & Philippians 2:5). Is our citizenship in heaven (Philippians 3:20) ... OR in this world? Jesus says: "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."

Jesus nor John the Baptist condemned Centurions or soldiers. Jesus observed and was surprised by the faith of the Centurion and John the Baptist encouraged the soldiers to be content with their pay and not to steal.
    Who stands in the gap?
The military has been a way of life for me since childhood and so has my faith in Christ. I seen alot of things that American Christians have buried their heads in the sand for decades. I have been shunned by many believers since the Vietnam era. I’ve developed a thick skin.
You people are shocked with Human Trafficking, it is about time you wake up. I’ve dealt with this and the aftermath of it for decades. Having been overseas exposed me to this, just passing thru and seeing the damage it does and the desperation in their lives. Instead of self-righteously tsk tsking them as wicked sinners.
Look at Amy Carmichael and her work in India rescuing young Indian girls from being Temple prostitutes for 50 years as a missionary. Yeah it means getting your hand dirty in hands on work with real people.

This is why Christ has well declared.....26 “Anyone who wants to be my follower must love me far more than he does his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, or sisters-yes, more than his own life-otherwise he cannot be my disciple.
27 And no one can be my disciple who does not carry his own cross and follow me."
      Luke 14:25-27 [LB]
Christ has declared we must LOVE our enemies not harm or kill them.
The military is for killing enemies in man's wars.
Wise Christians "Worth their salt" will stay well clear of such schools of learning to maim and destroy human life.

People dont understand what the military is, people who serve seem to be the ones confronting the violence while Christians or those who so call themselves to be flew for their lives and they say ahh we cant fight thats illigel, no god doesnt allow violence. Like bruh, serving isnt wrong. You can die for jesus as well as for others, didnt jesus honor those who had faith in him and were soldiers of the roman empire? Of course, john had followers who were soldiers and john told them to not harm civilians but to protect. Ppl "christians" say are evil are dying for them and they dont care, idk man but some ppl who think they Christian dont respect anymore.

People forget that God honors countries who have the penalty of death which god himself established, a man kills an innocent civilian, that man outta be put to death the same way, its justice

    • @PopBandit
      @PopBandit ปีที่แล้ว

Great question cain belonged to Christ, and he was Gods and that is why God marked him and said if anybody comes after him, and God will handle it, but vengeance is not ours, saith the Lord air

As a proud u.s. army veteran, my advice for Christian's thinking about serving in the military is, the military is far better than Jesus Christ so forget everything you learned in Bible class and the 10 commandments and focus instead on the military core values. As for gospel which is part of Jesus, forget all that, for me my gospel is "the army goes rolling along" which I sing everyday with pride. Remember Christianity is based on faith and not fact while military service is based on proven scientific facts and has never been based on faith. So to sum it up, good facts is better than faith, always has and always will.
