This is something that absolutely needed to be discussed amongst Christians. I think we've taken Matthew 5:38 a little too far in its application. As s current police officer and Army veteran I can absolutely confirm without a doubt that Mark speaks the truth. He really hit the nail on the head when he brought up the so called "pacifist" who really are nothing more than cowards hiding behind an incorrect sense of virtue. A man's spirit is shattered if he's not willing to defend his wife and children at the very least.

I think we can swing too far the other way as well. There is a town near mine and when I was young, a woman and her neighbor (a man) got into an argument over a pet chicken. The woman called her husband out to defend her honor and he came out armed with a gun. The guy on the otherside went and got his gun. Anyways the two men ended up killing each other over a chicken. They each left a wife and many children behind. BTW I am also an Army Veteran, I am not a pacifist and I know you were most likely referring to a war or life or death scenario, but in a world where people feel disrespected because you accidentally bump into them we need to constantly make sure our hearts and minds are in the right place where our intentions are not misplaced. (I probably don't have to tell you that as a police officer)

So good! I served my State and my community for 20 years and served faithfully. God made me a protector and I ran swat teams most of my career. God made men to stand in the gap for those who can’t protect themselves. It was an honor and I love Jesus. I was thankful for his protection every day and I made it home every night to my wife and kids. I serve my church now in a similar role and I am thankful I can still be used by God.

Truthfully those white Americans did do many other ethnicities evil. By not letting them in their country in the sense of they needed help and many were rejected. Ironically it was the white "conservative Christians" who were more atheistic and hated black brown Asian people. I know for anyone say this truth is hard but I just wanted to say. It bevause it's true. As a Christian we should all unite and sacrifice ourselves for those who can't defend themselves. Not only white people should stand up but all other people groups. Definitely need more Christian LEOs. That is really part of the issues in policing today. Godly people versus ungodly will outshine them every time in any vocation regarding right and wrong, morality and ethics. The Christian is able to see and discern the spiritual world the non believer is ignorant of and blind to.
Ephesians 6:12 AMP For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.

I agree . The land of Israel was given to them by God . The people in that land were evil , that sacrificed children , ex , were Nephilim ( giants ) . God told the Israelis to kill every living thing they found .
Another thing is that the Arabs are the offspring of Ishmael , Abraham and Hagar’s son ) . God told Abraham that they ( the Arabs ) would alway be a thorn in Israel’s side .
The Arab’s think because Ishmael was the first born they ( Arab’s ) should inherit the promised land . It doesn’t help that Mohelmet said that the muslims would take the world .
A just war is Israel taking and holding the land God gave to them , as simple as that .

Simon Peter was defending Him against tyrants. Correcting him, Christ said, “Put your sword away! *Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”* because His mission, His Father’s will, was to be fulfilled.
Simon Peter’s force would have otherwise been morally justified in striking Malchus.

Keep in mind the context and the actual details of that event. They were surrounded by tons of dudes who were armed with weapons. Peter would have been chop suey. Jesus was basically telling Peter to control his emotions and consider the situation. If he used his sword he would have died by a sword. That’s what he meant, he didn’t denounce violence in general.

When Jesus explained that he must suffer and die; Peter said (paraphrase) No; that cannot be. Jesus said "Get behind me Satan; for you speak the ways of men.
The early Christians in the times of Nero didn't justify any form of defense, but we're willing to suffer for their faith. That is the true response in persecution.

So are you saying we should let them do their evil and just let God sort it out in the end?

I’m glad you watched the clip.
Much of the New Testament does say avoid getting into battles. It should not be our first response loaded with emotions. If it is loaded with emotion then we start doing the evil in return.
“Never repay evil with evil, but repay evil with good. “ Romans 12:17-21.
    Romans 12:18
“IF possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
If you have enemies that are unwilling to live at peace with you and mind their own business.. and they keep causing not just problems, but step it up several levels into causing harm to the innocent then you cannot let it go.
But consider. There is always provision for self defense. And the defense of the innocent. Women. Children. The unborn. The civilian.
When you use Peter as the reference point the rebuke of Peter by Jesus is Peter was re-acting out of emotionally based fear.
Something important you have missed. In Luke 22:36, Jesus told his followers ‘whoever does not have a sword should sell his cloak and buy one..’.
That does not sound like a passive pacifist statement. It can be implied to get ready. It was important enough that Jesus recommended selling your jacket to purchase one.
A sword ⚔️ is not a butter knife or dinner knife. It is a weapon. To defend oneself, to and to protect others.
You could even say that in those days it would be considered ‘open carry’. It said a lot about you. It would make other people think that person is (more) ready for action.’
Open carry by good people is a deterrent. Makes bad guys have at least a second thought about doing harm.
It is quite possible that the pacifist has never been punched in the mouth. It is possible that you and many others have never had wicked things happen to you or your loved ones.
    Two songs come to memory.
    ‘Dirty Deeds’ by AC/DC.
    ‘Unsuspecting’ by Barren Cross.
If bad people are not allowed to grow in your communities, then we all get to live in peace.
But if bad people are allowed to grow and increase , their depravity will eventually destroy their own women and children. Only after they have destroyed yours and mine.
    Romans 1:24.-32. Look it up.
See how depraved the mindset becomes.
I saw this first hand. I worked nearly 35 years of a fire dept career in the city of San Bernardino. And during what I call the ‘body count years’. When the murders were consistently between 90-100 every year. Those were the dead ones. That number does not include the maimed and survivors
    You see.
Innocent Kids getting killed while eating dinner.
Teenagers getting assassinated on the church doorsteps..
    and more.
Maybe you haven’t been exposed to pure evil.
    So. I question you johnloftin2461
What are you personally doing to stem the tide of wickedness??

My question is this: what if Hamas is founded and run by Israel bc it always winds up giving Israel more power and this is not by accident. And because OG Mossad generals are quoted casually talking about creating their own enemies in order to advance the interests of Israel in this way. It seems like this type of strategy is what’s going on much of the time, in warfare. Maybe I’m wrong but it’s truly alarming how often this is the case. And it’s truly alarming how often people like Mark Driscoll have zero interest in looking into this concern.

The next verse(Luk. 22:37) literally explains it: "“For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’ "Christians" like to quote verse 36, but they conveniently leave out verse 37. They also gloss over the fact that only _2_ of the disciples had a weapon, and Christ said it was enough(verse 38). They instead portray the situation as if Christ told all of them to purchase a sword.

The Catholic Church had to face this question 1300 years ago.
And they have pondered and written about and more importantly ACTED ON this question for centuries.
Since its inception in the 7th century, Islam has made ceaseless attempts to conquer Europe. The last time was by ISIS in 2015 when they declared their intention to take Rome as Muslims had taken Constantinople in 1453. Muslims realize that Rome has always been and will always be the heart of the Christian resistance.
The wars that kept Europe Christian were all fought by Catholics long before and long after there were Protestants.
From the Battle of Tours in 792 when Muslim armies were 250 kilometers from Paris to the Battle of Vienna in 1683 when the Turks were at the gates of Vienna, it was Catholic armies that kept Islam at bay. It took 800 years for Catholic armies in Spain to throw off Islamic rule.
Can you think of any other idea that had the lifeforce, the perennial vitality to have sustained the resistance through all those centuries?
Remember that it was a Catholic Pope who raised the battle cry, "Deus Vult!" to unite a fractured Europe against the Islamic threat.
There truly would be no such thing as Protestantism if Islam had managed to conquer Europe.
Indeed, it is the rise of Protestantism that began the dissolution of the now defunct idea of "Christendom."
Unlike Catholic countries, no Protestant country has faced an existential threat from Islam. Not until recent decades when Muslims were allowed in by post-Christian politicians in post-Christian societies where they are now a serious internal threat.
Perhaps late in the day as it is, Christian theologians both Protestant and Catholic can find a solution to the internal threat. Unfortunately, so far, no one has proposed a serious solution which is understandable given that most churches have been "evangelized" by secular societies they were supposed to convert.

One problem might be that there are no “legitimate” authority to go to war in our time.
Because the New World Order controls all the world armies. All the world’s money. The NWO is lead by Satan. NWO funds both sides of modern wars. WWI, WW2, 9/11, and likely modern Israel are paid for and planed by both sides.
Just war maybe be possible. But who can truly judge “just war”? So much secrecy and the NWO, One World Government is upon us.
Also, just war and self defense I am not sure are related either. State craft and matters of the state are not unrelated but they are not the same thing.
Moreover going to war in defense of our faith seems against what Jesus preached very strongly. Which seems a different category of war.
I am not sure pastor Mark is making these categories very clear. Of course I don’t think he intends to blur the line between these categories, I think many think and have said the same things he has. It is a fairly accurate representation of the acedemic argument of just war theory. But I am not sure it is sufficient is separating and dealing with the very specific categories of the use of force.
This argument seems to kind of blur the categories together as one. But I am not sure that is helpful.

Nowhere in the Bible can you find "Just War" theory. I'd highly recommend reading Dr. Michael Heiser's books and watching his videos on youtube. King Saul fell on his sword for disobeying God, as Saul was told to kill all of the Amalekites (Also giants/titans and seeds of satan). Jesus had to go to the cross. He even says that he could call down legions of angels to protect himself. He doesn't need Peter's sword. He had to go to the cross. There are times when we must lay down and die for the gospel, and there are times when we must fight (physically). How could evil men like Hitler be stopped without bloodshed? If D-Day didn't happen, how could the allies invade The 3rd Reich and free the oppressed peoples? I honestly have felt bad for buying weapons, but I remember that the Bible says that God is a mighty warrior and I want to be like my Father God, not afraid to step between the oppressed and tyranny, or at least, be a defender for my family. When Jesus returns as a Warrior...
    Revelation 17: 12-14, 17
12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is LORD of lord, and KING of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God be fulfilled.

There is ABSOLUTLY NO comparison with ancient Yisrael. And the modern ISRAELIES.. The Azkanazi Kazarians who occupy Israel now know this. They are not GENECTIClY connected in any way to Abraham. Do your history. Study the Balfore document. Reference the books The thirteenth tribe and The invention of the Jewish people . Both written by Jewish scholars. Or simply watch the movie from Hebrews to Negoes.

This is for a comment that's already in here. The Bible says you must hate all. Evil, that God hates if you love the Lord, you must hate all. Evil tolerance is a sin in the Bible. Everybody I want you to understand this

Christians will go to war.... but against CHRIST, and we Israelites KNOW OUR MALAK WILL WIN.
The Day of the LORD's Vengeance
631 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious [1] in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

I like the idea that Hamas is/was an illegitimate authority. Others would say that they were elected in 2007 by the people. So how is Hamas illegitimate?

What happened to "If you are struck in the cheek, turn the other cheek." Is it true Pastor Mark Driscoll is smarter in understanding God than Jesus is? Evidently. When the Romans came to arrest Jesus, one Disciple pulled out his sword. And Jesus told his Disciple to put it away. Mark is saying Jesus was wrong. Is Jesus wrong and Mark right? Many appear to think so. Mark, like Satan, is very appealing isn't he?

There are many, many verses in the New Testament that go against what he is preaching here. Show me one time that Jesus or Paul used force or told you to use force against anyone. Paul is the desciple of the gentiles. He tells us how to act as followers of Christ. I'm not a pacifist, I'm a brawler who has to crucify the flesh daily, as Paul says. Read the Word for yourself and make your own decision on what God is speaking to you through His Word. Dont listen to someone just because they have a stage. Test everything said to you against the word. Your feelings are deceitful above all things(Jer17:9), and everything out of his mouth was his feelings, because nothing was backed up with Newtestament scriptures.

Jesus warned those who live by the sword will die by the sword. He also said turn the other cheek.
Killing won't solve the world's problems. It is written in the bible "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord."
We as humans do NOT have the knowledge or wisdom to know who should die or not.
Jesus rebuked his apostles when they said to Jesus should we pray for fire to come down and destroy our enemies.
Jesus is our King he is our standard that we should seek to be like. He never killed anyone.
We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities or wickedness in heavenly places.
Jesus is your master NOT some random pastor. He (pastor) will NOT take your punishment NOR forgive your sins.
Yall best think twice beware wolves in sheep's clothing who appear righteous but inwardly they are raining wolves seek who they may devour.

Your empassioned speech here is understandable, however, I think you need to preface it with a little review, perhaps Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28, then maybe reconsider what you said about just wars and God fighting along with lsrael, because scripture is abundantly clear that this unjust aggression and violence against Israel comprises but a part of those curse consequences.
