Did anyone else notice that Mari was the one with him nearly throughout the whole first half of the movie? He was always behind her, surprising her or just going somwhere with her. I personally think he’s trying to impress her or something.
Can we just focus a bit about the voice acting? I can't be the only one that realized adrien's voice became soft when he says "i wouldn't mind being stuck with a friend like you" it sounded almost as if he was hinting that he had slight feelings for her! And also, that isn't a very normal phrase for a friend to say to their friend, especially with opposite genders, right?
Though the real joke here is that we only have the show to base their relationship on, and the very small "reported" instances of interaction - that are mentioned but not shown. So going by the show. Ladybug and Cat Noir do not associate outside akuma fights and may never have had a proper conversation aside from those very few times they are stuck in a long fight - such as Malidictator. But there is no change evident in their relationship despite spending hours together.. I'm kinda wondering if what with LB being such a complete B**** to Cat Noir that she might even deny she's his friend in the way she denies being his Partner and demotes him to also ran and subordinate status by calling him a "Teammate". You know there isn't even a real reason she has to be in charge other than "because the show says so" which results in them having to dumb down Adrien's intelligence when in costume on purpose so she can "be in charge" - despite them starting the show with the implication they are supposed to be a team- a proper team *almost uniquely so* - and they just gave up since season 2 and made her 100% in charge and reduced Cat Noir to a background character. (Some people are even saying now that Robin get treated better by Batman than she treats Cat Noir) It's a shame really as them being an actual balanced team - would have been so unique and also lead into an eventual romantic partnership more easily - they'd already be super tight and post reveal would be easy. Instead we have bickering, miscommunication, verbal & physical aggression (mostly from her), & lies on both sides - so not really a healthy partnership. She doesn't let the poor kid move on either she keeps hugging him, and calling him "My Kitty" & "Pussy Cat" rest her head on his shoulder, sits really close to him... and then denies anything is happening no wonder the poor boy's head is spinning with the mixed messages. As for Marinette - there is little evidence that she can barely speak to Adrien - until miraculously (pardon the pun) she can because the plot needs her to talk to him. So I can't honestly say I buy that any of the personas are friends unless we are expected to go entirely on things we've never seen or be shown - It's not like - oh she had a video call with him so they are now "friends". Lets be brutally honest - other than what Instagram says about the girlsquad & one or two others sometimes going to the pool or the cinema together - do they really actually associate outside school. We don't even have any evidence that Adrien has even had lunch with his classmates once in the last year. Marinette may not even "really" be friends with the class until Alya starts making her get dragged around with her. They may have purposefully not spoke to her much to keep Chloe's ire away from them. But lets be honest here - if Adrien was Marinette's friend wouldn't he make Chloe stop bullying her ? But he's so conflict adverse he wouldn't even tell her to stop hanging of him, or to stop picking on Marinette - sure he did it once ; and she just went back to the way she was when he relented. The show isn't going to really allow Adrien to grow as he's not allowed to get out of the sway of his father, short of swapping parents he's not going to ever be in a position where he has any self reliance until he's adult age and they may never really show that either - so he may always be stuck in his victim status. The show though denies he's a victim of emotional abuse and sexual harassment - they just hand wave it away and point at Marinette and go oh look she has it so bad.... er no she makes her own darn problems by being a complete cow as ladybug, by starting arguments, and by being a thief and a stalker. Adrien has no control over his life & the only release he has is the some what toxic Lady Noir relationship - the actual show doesn't even give the poor kid the escape of marichat. As Marinette is just a condescending and cruel to Cat Noir as ladybug/Ladynoire is.
Adrien’s going to have an “Aha!” moment soon I hope. Like, he’ll self reflect and realize Marinette’s always been a part of his happiest moments after losing his mom.

I've been thinking about this for a while now... What if, Adrien already knows Marinette has a crush on him? Maybe ever since Puppeter 2 or even earlier... because, if we come to think of it, Mari is always so obviously creeped out when she's around him and the fact that she didn't want to sit next to him on the plain in New York Special could be considered rude if she didn't like him that way. But still Adrien didn't say anything and didn't get mad at her. He just kept calling her a friend and meaning more than that... Adrien starts to see the play Marinette plays. Adrien has crush on Marinette but stops his feelings toward Marinette because that makes him feel bad about being unfaithfull to Ladybug. Adrien so many times asked Marinette indirectly! She always denied anything! He could have feelling that she hates being with him from the ways she always runs away from him.
I hope they add a situation where they actually have to reveal their identity’s and i hope marinette doesn’t lose her memory now that she is the guardian
I MUST ADD: Adrien was SO excited to go on this trip. He was more concerned about disappointing LB than he was simply not seeing her. And any time he worried about his duties in Paris, he immediately was comforted/distracted by the time he was spending with Marinette. He started falling for her for a while (that "I love you" stare is all over season 3, a bit in season 2, pretty much confirmed in episode Ladybug when we find out the backstory about the charm he made for her). I think even in the Heart Hunter episode he was searching for hints that she liked him back but Marinette gave up too soon and so he sort of ended up with Kagami by default. I'm convinced he was looking at Marinette on that bus ride in NY and not the sunset like a lot of people think. Because if you look carefully, his eyes move right (to the sun) and then left (back at her) and there's so much symbolism with that and the earlier scene on the plane staring at the sunset.

Another sign I noticed is that when Marinette and Adrien are trapped in the room together and the techno villain crushes in, Adrien transforms into Cat Noir only because he thinks Marinette is in danger. Mari, on the other hand is purely professional "vacation is over". Then when Cat Noir and Ladybug see each other, Cat's first concern is "Where's Marinette?!" ...yet, Ladybug never even asks about Adrien?! Did she just assume Cat had taken care of him? Either she trusts her partner a great deal or Adrien's crush on Marinette may be even greater than hers on him! This part doesn't involve the crush as much, but I found it curious... when Aeon replays Marinette saying "I can't imagine being Ladybug without HIM", Adrien recognizes the voice as LB, even though she's NOT transformed at the time. Which means the magic of their suits does NOT change their voices AT ALL. Curious.
I also think that since he was locked up for so long he doesn’t really know what love is, since he’s so in love with ladybug he can’t tell he still has a crush on mari, but you can just see it getting stronger, I think he’s more starting to realise, you can hear him starting to get more confused as he says oh she’s just a friend,
idk if i’m over analyzing but when he looks out of the window at the buss (in the new york special) he first looks at mari and then the city. when he looks at the city/mari he has such an loving look on his face and also said “beautiful” in a soft and loving way. i think the look and “beautiful” might be meant for marinette
I have a theory: Adrien always refers to her "as a friend" because he is afraid of losing her just like his mother. I mean look at his relationship with his father. If he would have figured Adrien and Marinette were dating he could easily take her away. The reason he is so flirty as "Cat Noir" is because he knows his father can't do anything about it. I mean it all kind of makes sense. I think if his mother would have still been there he would of told Marinette about his feelings; but she is not there so he is stuck with his father's advice and his advice is not really helpful. Edit: if you remember the seen in the nyc episode (where they showed the banner cuckoo adrien) there is a small arrow right below marinette that may have been what he was smiling about. What happened between season 3 and the new york movie. At the end of the season three, chat noir wasn't calling ladybug m'lady and was lowkey dating kagami. But at the start of the film, chat noir calls ladybug m'lady, offers her a 'friendship rose' and called her amazing. Adrien also was flirting with marinette and etc. What happened between that time. Does the movie follow on from the seasons or does it just start anew. Because at the start, kagami did kiss adrien's upper lip but are they even together anymore? I'm so confused, can anyone help?

Though the real joke here is that we only have the show to base their relationship on, and the very small "reported" instances of interaction - that are mentioned but not shown.
So going by the show.
Ladybug and Cat Noir do not associate outside akuma fights and may never have had a proper conversation aside from those very few times they are stuck in a long fight - such as Malidictator. But there is no change evident in their relationship despite spending hours together.. I'm kinda wondering if what with LB being such a complete B**** to Cat Noir that she might even deny she's his friend in the way she denies being his Partner and demotes him to also ran and subordinate status by calling him a "Teammate".
You know there isn't even a real reason she has to be in charge other than "because the show says so" which results in them having to dumb down Adrien's intelligence when in costume on purpose so she can "be in charge" - despite them starting the show with the implication they are supposed to be a team- a proper team *almost uniquely so* - and they just gave up since season 2 and made her 100% in charge and reduced Cat Noir to a background character. (Some people are even saying now that Robin get treated better by Batman than she treats Cat Noir)
It's a shame really as them being an actual balanced team - would have been so unique and also lead into an eventual romantic partnership more easily - they'd already be super tight and post reveal would be easy.
Instead we have bickering, miscommunication, verbal & physical aggression (mostly from her), & lies on both sides - so not really a healthy partnership.
She doesn't let the poor kid move on either she keeps hugging him, and calling him "My Kitty" & "Pussy Cat" rest her head on his shoulder, sits really close to him... and then denies anything is happening no wonder the poor boy's head is spinning with the mixed messages.
As for Marinette - there is little evidence that she can barely speak to Adrien - until miraculously (pardon the pun) she can because the plot needs her to talk to him.
So I can't honestly say I buy that any of the personas are friends unless we are expected to go entirely on things we've never seen or be shown - It's not like - oh she had a video call with him so they are now "friends".
Lets be brutally honest - other than what Instagram says about the girlsquad & one or two others sometimes going to the pool or the cinema together - do they really actually associate outside school.
We don't even have any evidence that Adrien has even had lunch with his classmates once in the last year. Marinette may not even "really" be friends with the class until Alya starts making her get dragged around with her. They may have purposefully not spoke to her much to keep Chloe's ire away from them.
But lets be honest here - if Adrien was Marinette's friend wouldn't he make Chloe stop bullying her ?
But he's so conflict adverse he wouldn't even tell her to stop hanging of him, or to stop picking on Marinette - sure he did it once ; and she just went back to the way she was when he relented.
The show isn't going to really allow Adrien to grow as he's not allowed to get out of the sway of his father, short of swapping parents he's not going to ever be in a position where he has any self reliance until he's adult age and they may never really show that either - so he may always be stuck in his victim status.
The show though denies he's a victim of emotional abuse and sexual harassment - they just hand wave it away and point at Marinette and go oh look she has it so bad....
er no she makes her own darn problems by being a complete cow as ladybug, by starting arguments, and by being a thief and a stalker. Adrien has no control over his life & the only release he has is the some what toxic Lady Noir relationship - the actual show doesn't even give the poor kid the escape of marichat. As Marinette is just a condescending and cruel to Cat Noir as ladybug/Ladynoire is.

I MUST ADD: Adrien was SO excited to go on this trip. He was more concerned about disappointing LB than he was simply not seeing her. And any time he worried about his duties in Paris, he immediately was comforted/distracted by the time he was spending with Marinette. He started falling for her for a while (that "I love you" stare is all over season 3, a bit in season 2, pretty much confirmed in episode Ladybug when we find out the backstory about the charm he made for her). I think even in the Heart Hunter episode he was searching for hints that she liked him back but Marinette gave up too soon and so he sort of ended up with Kagami by default. I'm convinced he was looking at Marinette on that bus ride in NY and not the sunset like a lot of people think. Because if you look carefully, his eyes move right (to the sun) and then left (back at her) and there's so much symbolism with that and the earlier scene on the plane staring at the sunset.
I also believe he was looking at her in both these scenes!!!

Another sign I noticed is that when Marinette and Adrien are trapped in the room together and the techno villain crushes in, Adrien transforms into Cat Noir only because he thinks Marinette is in danger. Mari, on the other hand is purely professional "vacation is over". Then when Cat Noir and Ladybug see each other, Cat's first concern is "Where's Marinette?!" ...yet, Ladybug never even asks about Adrien?! Did she just assume Cat had taken care of him? Either she trusts her partner a great deal or Adrien's crush on Marinette may be even greater than hers on him!
This part doesn't involve the crush as much, but I found it curious... when Aeon replays Marinette saying "I can't imagine being Ladybug without HIM", Adrien recognizes the voice as LB, even though she's NOT transformed at the time. Which means the magic of their suits does NOT change their voices AT ALL. Curious.

I have a theory:
Adrien always refers to her "as a friend" because he is afraid of losing her just like his mother. I mean look at his relationship with his father. If he would have figured Adrien and Marinette were dating he could easily take her away. The reason he is so flirty as "Cat Noir" is because he knows his father can't do anything about it. I mean it all kind of makes sense. I think if his mother would have still been there he would of told Marinette about his feelings; but she is not there so he is stuck with his father's advice and his advice is not really helpful.

Apparantly there's a French saying (translated into English) that is "clap of thunder", which means the exact moment someone falls in love. During Origins it was raining when Marinette fell in love w Adrien, and the New York special it was raining when Adrien left New York. I was so excited when I learned that!
