I know this isn't a theory, but this is something I really want to happen (it's how I want the first Adrinette kiss to be) I'd love to see an episode where both Adrien and Marinette are outside the school while it's raining (pretty much like in the umbrella scene). Adrien starts talking to her, and says something like "Can you imagine it? One year ago we stood here... and you were still mad a me. But you forgave me... and I'm glad you did." He pauses, and then says "It rained even back then. Funny, isn't it?" Marinette then nods a little and says "Yeah... I... I'm glad I did too... because i-if I wouldn't have forgiven you, then I would never have understood how amazing and sw-sweet you are... I think another factor in why Adrien doesn't get Marinette's obvious feelings is the fact that he's famous and has fans. Think back on the Gorizilla episode and how he interacted with the guy crushing on him, Wayhem. To me the end of troublemaker was some what reminiscent of the end of Gorizilla where he tries to befriend Wayhem by offering his email. He isn't intimidated by his fans overbearing feelings but I also think he doesn't read into it too much. So I can see him thinking Marinette is just another fan and not necessarily truly in love with him. On the flip side unlike with Wayhem, he did tease Marinette somewhat when he confronted her and acted very Chat Noir esque. I feel that shows just how comfortable he has gotten with her over time. But due to his age and circumstances he might not realize yet the fundamental difference between Marinette's feelings (and his feelings towards her) compared to Wayhem's feelings.

I feel that it's not a matter of disbelief but uncertainty. He might just be receiving mixed signals. I just realised something. Chat did see parts of ladybug in her civilian form, right? Since Chat possibly saw ladybug wearing pink, should he know that whoever is behind ladybug likes wearing pink (saying could because he's blind). He could suspect that it's Marinette (who wears pink) which could be a reason why his Chat Noir side was showing a bit towards the end, or he did that because he knows that Marinette (a really good "friend") is a fan of him.

Adrien might not think he can be genuinely liked/loved like that. Consider, his mother disappeared without a word to him, his father is distant, the adults in his life are only there at his father's behest, his only "friend' growing up was there due to their parents, and most people, along with Chloe, only like his superficial celebrity persona which is an active lie he tells. He is only now really figuring out how to have friends, the idea that someone might actually like him might be something he can't consciously consider and so any hints of romantic intention he rationalizes away or not recognize.

I know this isn't a theory, but this is something I really want to happen (it's how I want the first Adrinette kiss to be)
I'd love to see an episode where both Adrien and Marinette are outside the school while it's raining (pretty much like in the umbrella scene). Adrien starts talking to her, and says something like "Can you imagine it? One year ago we stood here... and you were still mad a me. But you forgave me... and I'm glad you did." He pauses, and then says "It rained even back then. Funny, isn't it?"
Marinette then nods a little and says "Yeah... I... I'm glad I did too... because i-if I wouldn't have forgiven you, then I would never have understood how amazing and sw-sweet you are... I wouldn't have you b-by my side as... as one of my best friends... supporting me all the time...". She blushes and looks down, while Adrien has that awkward confused look on his face, also blushing a little. They both become quiet. Adrien then turns to her, wanting to say something but instead, he just stutters (like Marinette when she talks to him). Marinette doesn't understand why, so she asks him if everything's okay. He nods, and then, he looks away for a moment, not saying anything. He then looks at Marinette again who STILL doesn't understand and takes a step towards her. Marinette' all like "A-A-Adrien...? What..." but he interrupts her by kissing her. She then just stands there, blushing like an idiot, while Adrien whispers something like "Marinette, I hope you understand. I love you... but I didn't realize it until now."
Marinette hugs him, telling him she loves him too, and Adrien returns her hug. They look at the sky, and then they see Adrien's bodyguard coming. He looks at her, saying "See you tomorrow, Marinette" and she responds "Yes... see you tomorrow" without stuttering. Adrien walks away to his bodyguard, and just like in the umbrella scene, Marinette watches him driving away.
AND OF COURSE THE UMBRELLA SCENE MUSIC (which is called "In The Rain, btw) PLAYS THROUGH THE WHOLE SCENE.
Okay, I know this will probably never happen (I mean this scene, because Adrinette WILL happen... if it doesn't, then I'll lock myself in the bathroom with all my plushies and thirteen packs of ice cream) but I just love to imagine.

I think another factor in why Adrien doesn't get Marinette's obvious feelings is the fact that he's famous and has fans. Think back on the Gorizilla episode and how he interacted with the guy crushing on him, Wayhem. To me the end of troublemaker was some what reminiscent of the end of Gorizilla where he tries to befriend Wayhem by offering his email. He isn't intimidated by his fans overbearing feelings but I also think he doesn't read into it too much. So I can see him thinking Marinette is just another fan and not necessarily truly in love with him.
On the flip side unlike with Wayhem, he did tease Marinette somewhat when he confronted her and acted very Chat Noir esque. I feel that shows just how comfortable he has gotten with her over time. But due to his age and circumstances he might not realize yet the fundamental difference between Marinette's feelings (and his feelings towards her) compared to Wayhem's feelings.

I feel that it's not a matter of disbelief but uncertainty. He might just be receiving mixed signals. Marinette has a habit of blurting out a semblance of a crush only to completely retract it in the next breath. And with Adrien crushing on LB it's easy to pass it off. I just realised something. Chat did see parts of ladybug in her civilian form, right? Since Chat possibly saw ladybug wearing pink, should he know that whoever is behind ladybug likes wearing pink (saying could because he's blind). He could suspect that it's Marinette (who wears pink) which could be a reason why his Chat Noir side was showing a bit towards the end, or he did that because he knows that Marinette (a really good "friend") is a fan of him.

I saw a video by the miraculous youtuber yami, btw, she has a whole series dedicated to signs of Adrien's crush on Mari and Ladybug's crush on Cat Noir, anyway, she says that Adrien has crush on Marinette, even if its little. But he's feelings for ladybug are stronger, or he's just in denial since Marinette means so much to him as the first friend he made by himself, and he doesn't wanna mess that up, but for me is that he doesn't wanna mess it up and that he's just a little oblivious, I've seen him getting happy when she's around, in gamer he was super mad when max interrumpted their lunch as an akuma, when they were about to kiss in horrificator and Chloe interrumps, he's also mad, and in frozer, when Mari tells him they should hang out at the ice rink, Adrien says: "just you and me?" I'm pretty sure he isn't oblivious. And I'm totally in for your theorie about him flirting with Marinette as Chat Noir. My thoughts on this are the following: Adrien never had a group of friends on which he could count on and he doesn't see himself as the great supermodel guy everybody else sees him as. I'm referring to the episode where he was busy running from his fans. He rather spends time with his friends than being praised. And through the messed up relationship with his father he probably has no sense for his self-worth. Being Chat Noir, a superhero, he actually has something to be proud of. He was given the power but what he made of it was his own achievement. He fell in love with Ladybug but after the failed attempt of a date, he gave up on actually realising a relationship. Because he will always be the guy to choose friendship over love. Which brings me to him knowing about Marinettes crush. He sure as heck knows what a girl does around a boy she likes, he is literally chased by girls. I just believe that this friendship thing is too important for him. He would do everything to maintain the ongoing situation, even deny his own feelings, I think.

Another theory I like is about Adreins love language, which people assume is words of affirmation. And considering Marinette is bad with her words and not direct about her feelings, versus someone like Kagami who is super direct about her feelings just like Chat is, Adrien doesn't take it as Mari having a crush on him.

I have an interesting theory (don’t know if any of you thought about it) and it’s that maybe Adrien does know about Marinette’s feelings for him, and maybe he does have feelings for Marinette, but -he just doesn’t want to betray his feelings towards Ladybug-. I mean, he’s probably thinking: What if she starts liking me while I’m with Marinette?” Btw if in “Desparada” he didn’t realize that Ladybug loves his ADRIEN side, then I don’t know what to say...I mean, she did accept his rose when she’d throw away Chat Noir’s roses. So guys I really hope this theory brings helps... From her daughter

If you watch the french dub the voice actors do a better job at conveying emotions in their voices, the voice actress for marinette has a voice for her and a voice for ladybug same with adrien the english doesnt do that

I feel like Adrien knows Mari likes him to some degree, like as a friend but still a little more, but doesn’t know she loves him. I believe Adrien likes Mari but he loves Ladybug more, so he doesn’t feel right starting anything with her while he loves someone else. So I guess we’ll have to wait till they know each other’s secret identities to get a legit love story from them, hopefully soon❤️🖤

I do think that’s what it could be. Marinette’s first impression of him was different and so because of that, he thinks she doesn’t like him when it’s so obvious. He probably thinks she acts the way she does because she’s just trying to be nice. But she does like him more than a friend. Same goes to Adrien.
