On the warm up lap i normally put it in 1st and hold brake and throttle both on to gain tyre temp if theyre too low before start.

This f1 games are way better than the newer ones' the radio transmission & in game commentary...
in PS2 version of this game, some races had max speed on some straights, like Malaysia and hungaroring, if you played without brake assist you could just fly through others (max speed was like 250km/h or 155mph)

Ben make sure to use all the rebs from all the gears because they offer you really good speed
1) You could turn the commentators and engineer off if they annoy you too much,or atleast turn down their volume a bit in the options.
2) Being in a point-scoring position is a ruined race? Really m8? :P
3)The setups you're using are built with soft tires in mind,hard tires are only gonna make you about 1 second(or more) slower per lap

You can only edit the grid in "Quick Race" mode. You can't change it in Career, only Qualifying can set the grid in Career.

Well Ben, let me give you a reason, it is a game from 2006 where they did not keep in mind that one day a youtuber comes up and wants to commentate over that. If you want to get over that, do not do a live comm. Otherwise, deal with it, put your frustration in the race and try and win.

you only run 1 compound. It isn't like today in that you have to run 2, I think in fact which ever compund you qualify on is the one you are stuck with for the race

Drive off-road, lock up often, and make sure traction control is off
He's joking, just try to go a bit slower round corners and put the engine into lean
also you can try to brake more sooner in the corners,also try to stop accelerating 1or 2 seconds before you start to brake.not immediately. Also you have to accelerate slowly and only when the car is straight and not on the corner
