When the tyre wars was in full swing in 2006, there were several different versions of Bridgestone, as Ferrari had their own bespoke tyres that they only got. Other Bridgestone teams got tyres that were not as good as what Ferrari were using.(I'm not referring to compounds like soft , medium and hard. The whole construction of the tyre was completely different for Ferrari) In the end, Michelin were the better tyre. Everyone got the same spec of tyre and the drivers could push hard every lap and the tyres would still offer loads of grip and they were not fragile like the current tyres are in F1. I think it was 2006 when there were only 6 cars on the grid using Bridgestones and each team had their own version.
+Harry Verolme (TPT) Debateable. 2005 of course it was Michelin. 2006 it didn't really matter. The only reason Ferrari, Midland and Super Aguri were the ones on Bridgestones is because Ferrari paid Bridgestone an absurd amount of money to develop tyres that would suit the Ferrari, And the Ferrari alone.
+Tom _F1_ well, I'm just going by who won the championships at the time. Ferrari was rather competitive, but it wasn't without a reason that most teams had Michelins.
He has to do Season 1 all over again to change difficulty and race lenght. So he had to do it on Hard and with maybe 30% Race distance in a Toro Rosso, Midland or Aguri again.
He has to do Season 1 all over again to change difficulty and race lenght. So he had to do it on Hard and with maybe 30% Race distance in a Toro Rosso, Midland or Aguri again.
+GamingStaR Nope you can't. I never played championship edition. Only 06 on PS2. And it's basicly tge same game. Also Ben already has restarted this season at the beginning ofcthe career mode to change race distance. He drove Melbourne again but offscreen.
The aggression of your warm up affects the grip of your tires. You can still get them up to temp without thrashing them. Also if you turn stability to medium or low you get rid of a lot of the understeer. That being said you have to make some set up changes because I think your car will swap ends a lot.
In 2006, the Michelins were really good in qualy, they got they pace and the grip much faster than the Bridgestones. The Ferraris were, until 2005, the only top team to fit the Bridgestones, and they used to struggle in qualy and at the beginning of the races until they got the grip. The positive point was that the Bridgestones were almost custom designed for them, as the other two teams to have them, until 2005, were Jordan and Minardi.
Put the traction control on 3 for the race, you're wearing out your rear tyres more and losing time through the exit of slower corners due to wheelspin.
Just to note that on hard difficulty it is much harder to even get offered a second driver contract for any of the teams. Passing the targets in an okay way only gets you test driver roles, for race driver contracts you need to destroy the test targets by more than 1 second, probably around 1.5 seconds to be sure. Also, downforce makes a big difference for top speeds and a slight compromise will help the balance out the differences in engines. It is also possible to get punctures (shown by visual tire wobbling) if you make light wheel contact too many times, and you can tell the engine health from the car indicator.
before next season, take a break and play random races with Matt, Harry and AARAV (sorry for putting Noble lol) on 2015 say, maybe actually FINISH 'Drive Till -the- -tyres- you explode' lol Also, are you doing a 2012 career mode now after 11?
The gap between the Michelin's and Bridgestone's in 2006 was really close. If I remember correctly the first half of 2006 Michelin were superior and then Bridgestone came fighting back in the second half of that year, which was different to previous seasons where Bridgestone in particular had the advantage or 2005 where Michelin spanked them everywhere except Indianapolis. So put simply either tyre choice will be okay given how even they were in 06.
Funny that you mention Parabolica as being deceiving in this game. I picked up F1 2012 years ago and used Monza as my test track. Parabolica ALWAYS caught me out; either I was too slow going into it or the back end would spin me around. Turns out I just really suck at driving in these games!
Don't look too much into the tyres in the top 10. It would have been an equal split in the top 10 had Schumi's engine not gone and you hadn't assassinated Massa
bridgestone tailored made their tires for ferrari (schumacher in particular) in real-life for most of the early 2000's whereas michelin supplied multiple top teams (Williams, Mclaren, Renault). I don't know if there are any differences between tire manufacturers in-game. in general tires were made to be driven fast and on their limits so no dropping over cliffs.
Bridgestone! All you need to remember is the US Grand Prix in 2005. Yes I know that's a year earlier than this game. But Bridgestone was the best back then. Period!
The used tyre compound doesn't really make a difference. The cars using Michelins overcome the ones using Bridgestones because most of the back markers use the Bs and two out of three of the fastest teams use the Ms.
Hey Ben, do you know that you can change the gearing on your car to get a better top speed. Just remember that lower values = higher top speed & higher values = better acceleration.
Depends on the circuit in terms of tire type. There are more Michelin than Bridgestone teams. I think Michelin are slightly softer compounds so run faster but it can differ between circuits. Personally I prefer the Michelin teams.
IRL Michelin used to be overall the better tyres in 2005-2006 seasons, expecially 2005, because they took temperature way sooner than Bridgestone. Schumacher maybe could have made 6th WDC in a row in 2005 but managed to win only 1 race (the controversial USA gp), although Ferrari F2005 was a good car, maybe not competitive as previous years, but still amongst the best. Bridgestone tyres were just terrible, you can compare them to the Pirelli Hards nowadays instead Michelin were like Softs, but still durable. In the middle of the season Bridgestone tested new tyres, much softer and well performing in short stints. Schumacher at that point was extremely fast in the 1st part of the race (even got a pole in Hungary missing from 14 races), but due to the fact that in 2005 tyres changes were abolished during pitstops, those tyres became trash after 20 laps. In 2006 the difference between M and B was still there, but less significant. In the game you see more Michelin cars in the top 10 just because those cars are faster than many of the Bridgestone ones.
ben, since you need to sign with another team to do season 2, why dont you do season 2 doing quick races with quali so you can customize it as you want?
Are you playing with the setup at all? You should have put your gears up further so when in the slipstream you could've got a better run and not max out your revs which hurts the engine and straight line. Also, the AI like to dive down the inside unless you block the inside line into a corner, other wise when you turn in they like to smash into the back of you.
1. No extreme strategy is op. It's better to take more fuel in beginning but not full tank. 2. Michelin was clearly better in '05. In '06 Bridgestone managed to tie the gap which gave Ferrari a chance to compete with the Renault. So not a huge difference there.
dont know which tyre is better, but only ferrari, and the backmarkers (toro rosso, super aguri, midland) used them. and as both ferraris retired, you were the only competitive bridgestone runner
Hey Ben, would you consider doing an F1 2014 modded season in place of F1 2011? I would enjoy realistic damage, aggressive AI, and the 1979/1994/or TH-camr Mod.
Hey Ben, go to a team that's not around anymore and somewhat competitive (like Honda, Toyota or BMW - I know they're BMW Sauber but still feels different to me)!
The difference between the tyre manufacturers doesn't have a impact on the game, but if you really want the better compound from real life I should choose Bridgestone.
Turn the difficulty up and they will brake properly
Ben: we just avoided crashing out there.
Klien: I’m about to end this man’s whole career.

At that point it was definitely Michelin. I think it was only Ferrari and the backmarkers that drove on Bridgestone tires, so yeah..

toyota was also on Bridgestones
saturn185
Don't think so, i have 2006 on DVD and i don't recall them using Bridgestones
Kvyat
Stfu
+kenneth montemayor Exactly!
+Wavy Handles i see you everywhere
hahahaha
+kenneth montemayor Lmao xD
Do series 2 with McLaren, longer races and a higher difficulty!
Agree !
He has to do Season 1 all over again to change difficulty and race lenght. So he had to do it on Hard and with maybe 30% Race distance in a Toro Rosso, Midland or Aguri again.

+TheIceman22 Lol, in the Real F1 06 for Ps2 you can change the Race Lenght in a Season.

that red bull came like a torpedo lol.
Sorry to say that, but it was your fault at BOTH Accidents on Monza...
"That left right hander" ~ Ben Daly - 2016
This is an awesome series.
Agree?
THE RED BULL CAME LIKE A TORPEDO!

I don't think I've laughed so much during a career mode video LMAOOOO
man, that overtake in Button remember Max Verstappen overtake in Ericsson at the same corner, great Chinese GP and great series
before next season, take a break and play random races with Matt, Harry and AARAV (sorry for putting Noble lol) on 2015 say, maybe actually FINISH 'Drive Till -the- -tyres- you explode' lol

harry and noble is the same person
***** ya
Harry is Noble
+Allflattious Sorry lol I'm a cunt

Another tip: traction control on 1 for formation lap for weaving, but then put it up to 3 to help corner exits
I'm about to start playing F1 2014 (previously only played '99-'02', 2005, 2006 and 2010), and I'm genuinely nervous about meeting Maldonado on track.
I loved this game i'm so glad you did a playthrough!!
Revenge for Button hitting you in qualifying in Monaco.
Don't look too much into the tyres in the top 10. It would have been an equal split in the top 10 had Schumi's engine not gone and you hadn't assassinated Massa
love how difficult this series is
This must be why Alonso gets engine failure after engine failure now, he saved up all bad karma from his early career.
got hit with a large dose of karma there Ben ;)
+Bezza yes Bezza lad watching Ben's vids
Awesome stuff with the video Tiametmarduk.
bridgestone tailored made their tires for ferrari (schumacher in particular) in real-life for most of the early 2000's whereas michelin supplied multiple top teams (Williams, Mclaren, Renault). Who remembers that crazy 2005 United States Grand Prix where only the "Bridgestone" users were allowed to race? They were only 6 cars in that race.
Bridgestone! All you need to remember is the US Grand Prix in 2005. Yes I know that's a year earlier than this game. But Bridgestone was the best back then. Period!
the bridgestones took longer to heat up and grip, the Michelin's heated and griped up faster, but they started to wear earlier
Last time I was this early, ultra mod wasn't scripted
Good job today Pastor :)
Alonso absolutely destroying everyone
1:04-1:07 But there's a video series in that. "Drive Till The Engine Explodes!"
amazing to think these times are slower than the 2015cars
Ben, if you want the AI to break later put the difficulty up and they will. You can also stop breaking like a mad man..
+jp27fcp Can't do it mid season.
+flyhighpizzapie Can't do it for the entire Career Mode actually. To change difficulty, he has to restart the Career Mode, from Season 1.
I know but he should restart the career mode next season. Make this a season 0, next one starts for real
Ikr, the amount of broken car parts is crazy in this series.
Oh wait, you weren't talking about "breaking"
Jelle Soeffers Autocorrect bro xD
Benjamin Maldonado
Sounds great!
09:10 Barrichello getting hit like Tom Coronel in WTCC, Race 1 in 2015. He's out for Race 2
The used tyre compound doesn't really make a difference. The cars using Michelins overcome the ones using Bridgestones because most of the back markers use the Bs and two out of three of the fastest teams use the Ms.
i guess its your car set up that makes you slower on the straights but faster in curves
Can you change your gearing? Ur in the limiter for ever
Go Honda next season, Michelin tyres
+Allflattious nope still to easy better red bull
Alonso is Nobel2909 of this series.
Hey Ben, do you know that you can change the gearing on your car to get a better top speed. Just remember that lower values = higher top speed & higher values = better acceleration.
You mean kvyat
Kyvat took someone out once be quiet
+Wavy Handles I've literally seen you crying to everyone that makes a kvyat joke like damn calm down fam don't get too upset
+Wavy Handles everything will b ok
+Wavy Handles unless you're kvyat
+Wavy Handles whats your opining About max Verstappen Swaps with kvyat
Kvyat + Maldonado = Tiametmarduk + XmattyG
When you got retired look at the lap counter lol
Depends on the circuit in terms of tire type. There are more Michelin than Bridgestone teams. I think Michelin are slightly softer compounds so run faster but it can differ between circuits. Personally I prefer the Michelin teams.
Losing a part of the nose helped me a lot in the straights. It did cost me some time in the corners though
That Red Bull was Kvyat!
5:09 revenge for monaco qualifying
Michelin were the stronger dry compound tyre but Bridgestone were really OP in the wet
I'd say Michelin however the strengths and weaknesses are slightly different depending on certain scenarios like weather, conditions and circuits.

What does this stand for? On point? Overpowered? Original poster? :)
It's like they have DRS... Have you tried a different setup?
Ben. You need to make more playlist. A playlist foor F1 2006 Career and Nascar
Your incredible sloppiness gets boring...
I think it's pretty fair that you also retired from the race after what you did to Button ;)
mostly even between both tyre manufacturers
ben, since you need to sign with another team to do season 2, why dont you do season 2 doing quick races with quali so you can customize it as you want?

Ren Hazuki was also used to be like Maldonado in F1 06.😅
Ben if u could just take ur time in the warm up laps that way cars in front of u will lose heat in their tire n u will get a beastly start
The Toro Rosso is so underpowered in this game. Even with a rev limited V10 engine
Wiat, Spa wasn't in calendar that season?
1. No extreme strategy is op. It's better to take more fuel in beginning but not full tank.
2. Michelin was clearly better in '05. In '06 Bridgestone managed to tie the gap which gave Ferrari a chance to compete with the Renault. So not a huge difference there.

you forgot to turn on the traction control and the abs
Michelin are generally the better tyre, but the bridgestones are much better in the wet
Check your E-mails and recruitment messages. You actually have on recruitment message already.
To quote Alonso "karma"
I believe the michelin tires were the OP tires back then
my opinion is go with Bridgestone tyres because i think they're the best ones in terms of grip and longevity
When does F1 2016 come out?
I also want to know
Release date is not revealed
+HekkieGamesNL release date not revealed
+HekkieGamesNL June or July
+HekkieGamesNL im guessing it will be octomber or september at worst scenario
Hey Ben, would you consider doing an F1 2014 modded season in place of F1 2011? I would enjoy realistic damage, aggressive AI, and the 1979/1994/or TH-camr Mod.
If you go central/right on the straights they won't go past as easily
A NUMBER OUT OF 9
You know you can change to soft tyres in the setup menu?
Should have made your gears longer.
Aarav dislikes this video 34 times
the thing i dont understand iw why fisichella is so down on the clasification having a damn Renault.
Good racing Ben!
Ben I think you should do another season of this and then something on f1 2013 classics :)
In real life michelin was the better tire for dry conditions and bridgestones for wet
Don't you burn throught the fuel at the end? Meaning that at the end everyone will have the same amount of fuel
Dat short 7th gear though!
Hey Ben, go to a team that's not around anymore and somewhat competitive (like Honda, Toyota or BMW - I know they're BMW Sauber but still feels different to me)!
When I clicked this had 888 views. Go triple 8 at Winton!
+The Haydo Lol, I just read this and checked to see how many views there are now, and it's 3888!
+The Haydo When i saw it had PRA views, obviously reflective of Winterbottoms podiums
+itsmebrad19 not in a million years. And that Chris O'Tool guy at PRA is a tool
Can gear ratios not be widened so u don't run on the limiter?
You can´t adjust gear ratio in this game? Straight Lines are cuting rpm redline on last gear...
The difference between the tyre manufacturers doesn't have a impact on the game, but if you really want the better compound from real life I should choose Bridgestone.
sure about being Maldonado, you were rear ending people just like Kvyat tbh :)
This game is unrealistic in that Schumacher only had one reliability retirement in 2006 (in Japan) and it was his first in over FIVE YEARS.
so hi wi a gajz..the clasic intro
