Can you guess which camera we used for the last shot?
IPhone 14👀hehe

iPhone 14 Max 💀👍🏼

the gopro you just got?
Never did I think I’d have the privilege to be on THE Mark Bone’s channel 😢
Pleasuring having you on the bonezone
@@markbone oooohkaaaay!
Brady! The GOAT at lighting
You’re a legend
You don't know how happy I am to see you putting this video out. My son did work for iHeart & Apple using this camera and he said i should buy it. So i wanna see feedback on it.
Two of my favourite directors/cinematographers on youtube together, amazing! Awesome tips guys thanks
🤘
My favourite youtubers collabing, this is AMAZING!
✌️✌️✌️
Awesome tips and I feel inspired (once again) to shoot!
So nice to see the DocuGOAT and the Professor do a collaboration.
Great video. Just so happens I preordered the FX30. So, thank you for the link to obtaining insurance for my FX30. Cheers.
Another great video. It's fitting that Music Bed gave you a place to sleep for a few days 🙂
Haha. Indeed
I just want Brady to tell me to look at a photograph, is that so much to ask for in life?
Hahahahaha. This comment wins
Hey I got a photograph I want you to see, can you look at it
Both great cinematographers. Thanks guys 👏
You’re welcome mate
Mate if it’s sunny I’m getting muddy the cameras getting a flogging and the grinning from bad decisions makes my face ache hehe no time for inside unless it’s crap outside great tips bro I’ll be giving em ago goodonya cheers
fantastic video, thank you for sharing! I am filming my first documentary and I am unable to shoot in the dark. In the video you advise to turn off the light, but then I get noise in my video. especially when I'm filming in 4k. what is your advice? gr Bart Bijster from the Netherlands
Excellent video Merk....
Thanks ,🎉
Merk Bern here!
Hi there. Great video. Could you please tell me what lens did you use for the basketball scene?
thanks for the content, i love it when you talk about light
I hope it lights up your day
@@markbone ksksksks very good! lol I love bad jokes
@@markbone I'm lit!
Great tips! 🙌
So helpful
which do you advise me for short films blackmagic 6k pro or sony fx30?
MORE OF THESE!!!
How could I expose for the windows like the shot in 7:15 without getting grain in the shadows especially when shooting slog.
Luv 4 Brady!
Luv to you 2
Do you tend to worry much about noise in shadows? whenever underexposing in Clog3 I tend to get a lot of ugly noise in my shadows. Does the sony fx line just produce a cleaner image with slog3? I did notice some more noise than your usual shots in this one, but still a nice usable image. Cheers Mark, love your work
Yeah I need to do more tests. From what I saw from the fx30 it gets VERY noisy when underexposing
to achieve these backlit edits requires you to shoot in some sort of log or hlg3 ? wondering if I can achieve that without it
Great video! What lens were you using on the FX30 and what would you recommend if you could only pick one diverse lens for the FX30?
I would get a 16-35 full frame lens for the fx30
Go for the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8! A super affordable and quality lens, with a massive 10x zoom range with a constant f2.8
You can't find anything like that for FF! One of the many benefits of APS-C
New Mark Bone video on my birthday!!!
Ayeee Happy Birthday!!
@@KianteMarron Thank you! Sincerely appreciate it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JON BOY
@@markbone thank you so much, Mark! Love your channel, and your work! Hope for nothing but success for you. You're one of the real ones.
great video
Any thoughts on ISO settings? Keep to the lower base and use ND filter I guess. Can lowering the ISO work as an alternative given the known impact on dynamic range distribution? How one might handle might be different between Flexible ISO and CineE (and Exposure Index)? Inquiring minds want to know.
Truthfully I am finding the fx30 a bit noisy in low light but I need to do more tests. I will always air on the side of a lower native iso when I can though because they typically have less noise
@@markbone Interesting. Although APS-C would be nosier in low light compared to Full Frame but, downsampling from 6K should make the noise grain smaller (a finer-grained noise?).
bone n brady
also note to the insurance talk, if you're a homeowner you're covered under personal property if your stuff is stolen generally-- I called my insurer before travel to check.
very nice poolshots in the end :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Magnificent! What lenses were you using?
24-70 + 16-35
Please suggest lens fx30 🇮🇳
Crazy. How everything change when you swichoff lights.
I've always wanted to learn how to create haze 3:47 how is the possible without a fog machine? or is that only with a fog machine? 😥
Fog machine all the way
@@markbone Thank you I appreciate that
whats the best focal length for a more cinematic scene
Somewhere between 10mm and 1000m. Honestly it’s what you’re shooting not the lens
Do you guys get a lot of noise on your FX30?
It needs lots of light for low light in my experience
What lens did you use on the fx30 for this shoot?
16-35 & 24-70
@@markbone sony or sigma?
Filmmakers should collaborate more! 🤘
We should
With this camera not being full frame, can I get a lens to make it full frame? If so which lens?
Metabones speedbooster will do that
Go for the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8! A super affordable and quality lens, with a massive 10x zoom range with a constant f2.8
You can't find anything like that for FF! One of the many benefits of APS-C
@@SoundSpeeding and that will work on the fx30?
@@darrellreesejr yes, it is available in E Mount and is designed for APS-C cameras such as the FX3
Imagine if FF had a 24-105mm f2.8 lens?
That's what this lens is for APS-C! The 17-70mm f2.8
what lenses were y'all using??
Mostly 24-70 sigma
You two are the reason I have my FX6 and FX3
What about Non-Binary Infections?
@@markbone lol I followed you for a while and purchased the FX6 then FX3 then Brady came clutch with the lighting techniques ! Love it I want to do a documentary inspired by you both
@@markbone wait….I think you are mocking my name…..ok……that’s different
The last shot was dope how did u film it ?
Commenting to find out as well
iPhone 14!
@@markbone Awesome
Is the image of the fx30 a bit noisy or it’s just me?
It is in the shadows. Might have just needed more light
@@markbone I guess Sony FF has us spoiled. I imagine it will take some time to find the FX30 sweet point (probably closer to regular Cine Cameras). Thanks for the great content! keep it up!
did you notice the streaking like the gh6 ?? i see it
I dont. Something is wrong with your eyes?
Hmm... why is the FX30 footage lacking sharpness and contrast ? Seems to be way too soft. It is very noticeable especially when cut in the BTS camera
Hey Mark, big fan of your work. Two comments though: 1) Three sponsorships in one video? It's starting to get a bit over the top. 2) It would be great to see a larger variety of stuff. Almost everything I've seen of yours is looks nearly identical: shot hand-held, backlit, haze, super high contrast ratio, probably uses a mist filter, graded with crushed blacks and lots of cyan in the highlights.
Naw just one sponsor mate, but I’m always down to acknowledge the brands that help me provide this content for free. And yeah I guess I have a distinct look with my footage! It’s my vibe 🤷♂️
Also truthfully I look at this video and agree there’s much more information to be unearthed. This are certainly just high level tips. More deep dives to come soon
I'm surprised no Nickelback jokes have come up yet.
Oh you’re not looking then
Whenever I show up to a location the first thing I do is shut off all the lights and there’s always at least one person (usually a client) saying “Why’s it so dark?” I’ll just show them this next time.
Hahaha. Right? Always
@@markbone always yes but in this case, at 2:40 i like how it look too, just a different style but not too bad. No ?
less stylistic (less commercial production) but closer to the truth (more realistic for a kind of documentary.)
T minus 2 Weeks until I get my FX30 😁😁😁
Heck yeah!
smoothie without the lid 😂😂😂
Don’t do it
Idk why but the footage looks pretty noise heavy
Yeah youtube went savage on it. It was a bit noisy but nothing like that
Sorry but I think it’s just wrong to pretend the FX30 is a true cinema camera. It’s incredible for the price and formfactor but no real cinema camera (no 4k DCI, no 24 FPS, no Timecode). If I’m wrong about the last points please correct me.
I believe it can take in timecode with a special cable from Sony
@@markbone Yes I’ve heard that too. But to me a cinema camera should definitely have internal timecode
It has 23.98fps and it DOES have timecode 🙂
@@theowlfromduolingo7982 There isn't a camera on the planet (not even ARRI!) that I'd feel comfortable trusting its internal timecode
