In the late seventeenth century, a waft of urine, perfume and sweat, occasionally mixed with a little poo, met visitors upon their arrival at Versailles. Those who couldn't remember where they were only had to take a deep breath to ensure they were still at Louis the fourteenth’s seat of power.

Fabulous! I'd heard this about Versailles but I wasn't 100% sure, & it was kinda amusing to find that indeed, this most "sophisticated" court would actually be shut down for public health violations today... I was perplexed by the AI voice, but it's not awful- & regardless, I feel it's extremely rude to demand anything from youtubers when we're getting entertainment & education _for free._ I appreciate your hard work & the lovely videos you make for us, but your health & happiness come first. To all the commenters incessantly asking for this lady's voice back, can't you read her explanation of the reason? Don't you care? The information that she provides is still great and I do not understand why you don't appreciate the effort she puts out even if you can't hear her voice any longer. I get it, I love her delightful accent, but not to the point that I would deliberately put her health in danger. Those of you who would disgust me.

This was great! And I for one have absolutely no problems with an AI voiceover. I have watched this channel since the beginning for the historical content, and the research involved - which is excellent. For a little over two years we have been entertained and educated by someone who has done all this as a labour of love. So, a bit more gratitude and a lot less complaining would be appreciated!

I understand, but I really need some time to work on personal and family matters... when I narrate myself, reading takes me more than an hour, and then the editing takes me much longer because I need to cut and weed out all the misreadings, and sometimes I have to re-read certain parts, as I find out they are not understandable enough. I also cannot choose when I do the recording of the narrating, when the neighbours have their washing machine going, I can't, when another neighbour's dog is barking, I can't, and so on and so forth. (Living in a condo, oh joy lol). So the AI simplifies as I can use it one on one, almost ZERO editing and the conversion also takes little time. It leaves me with a bit more time to do my research. AND some people do have issues understanding me... so it solves that matter as well...

Oh no lol ... haven't been abducted haha ! I really need some time to work on personal and family matters... I was getting completely burned out and I didn't enjoy creating anymore. I needed to really go easier on myself, or I'd have quit altogether. In comparison to other channels, mine is very very small, and I do not have the funds to purchase help (you can hire actual narrators and such, but I don't have money for that)... So I do it with what I can and I try to keep it workable for myself.

the AI voice is okay but the AI art is creepy and weird ngl. I love this bit of horrible smelly history tho. Most versailles adaptations show such a clean palace but we all know that was not true.
Just playing around with that. I can definitely lower the ampunt of AI images… that doesn’t affect my editing time.

I like your original voice and accent. But the new AI voice has the advantage of better understanding. Even without watching the video - by just hearing it - I can understand much better now.
First: Versailles had the problem of being a big permanent residence. Meaning the court did no longer change between summer and winter residence. When those not permanent residences (summer / winter palace) were not inhabited they needed months of cleaning to be ready for the next season.
And many nobles used to live in their own castles , palaces etc. or did not attend court the whole year before Versailles.
Second big problem: They built Versailles in a forest and swamp area. But they never managed to provide an efficient water supply for all those people. And I am talking only about the people.
They had made *immense* (really big!) efforts for the gardens and parks of Versailles. Fountains, reservoirs, pipelines, ponds, waterfalls etc. The Grands Eaux are even more fascinating than the "building" Versailles itself.
And Louis XIV. stench? Well Dr. Daquin decided that Louis XIV. teeth were most dangerous for his majesty's health and pulled all the royal teeth in a fatal operation, ruined Louis XIV. ability to chew and digest food. Condemned Louis XIV. to use laxative for the rest of his life. So he needed not only to change his shirts 3 times per day but also his trousers quite often.
