Thank You, this is very inspiring and motivating. I totally agree by starting with a basic K series, just to get it running right. From there, you can always progress and add on additional parts (it takes time). Because if you start comparing your budget with others, you will go broke in the beginning. So, start off with what you can afford and what you need, not what you want. The wants comes after. This is coming from first hand experience when I first got my K series done back in 2008, K20A2 95’ VX Eg Hatchback. A month later, upgraded to K24/K20 13.7:1cr/E85, went through a few transmissions, spun a rod, rebuild it again with 12.5:1cr, sold it, then picked up a stock K20A Type R, had it for only a few months then sold it, then went back to K20Z1 ITB. Again, these were different motors in the same hatch. Finally in 2015, I just sold the car and everything and then Got out of the K series scene. I wasn’t happy, I was broke, I was always investing, I was losing myself and my love ones over this project car, and had to looked at the bigger of my life, career, family, house, etc. Fast forward, now 2020, more mature with the right mindset and goals in life, I’m able to put together a small Z1 motor in my new 93’ CX Hatch just to have a little fun, reliable and enough power to get through traffics and occasionally some seat times (road racing), etc. Nonetheless, this is my testimony, hopefully it can shed some lights for anyone that may help. I'm a humble man. I have a jdm dc5 k20a in a base model cxi ek hatch. All I want is 240whp with bc stage 2 cams,supetech springs and retainers and 62mm kinsler itbs and I'm a happy man.

Yea i spent 30k on a all motor build and still didnt put a cage in it. I made 375 on M5 fuel.. My boy spent 15 k on his turbo build and i feel like kicking myself.. But farm truck didnt want no smoke...
