- I am back on the long drive, still on the quest to find a truck. While i may have a very near death experience the donk does end up being somewhat more drivable which is always a bonus.

How he hasn't come across a truck yet is beyond me. I cant stop finding them.

How he the game is full with desert is beyond me, desert is boring .
@@automation7295 I think we might be stuck with the desert biome until he starts a new save file, since that update happened after he started playing. It could also be the same story for the trucks.
@@automation7295 I live in a country (Australia) which is at least 70% desert. You drive through our deserts, and you wonder how many times you've driven past that same f---ing saltbush! Literally hundreds of kilometres of just, well, desert. And more desert. And - well, you get the idea...
Radio reception - good luck with that! Cellular phones - mostly useless, except in the bigger towns (sat-phone is def the better option in the more remote parts of AU).
Best to make sure you have a music player with shitloads of music, podcasts etc. which will alleviate (some of) the boredom...
Helps to reload a save a couple of times at garages and diners, but that ruins the immersion for a Let's Play.

Death isn't a big deal in the game. It autosaves constantly when you're out of the car. You'll lose a few minutes, nothing more.

You can do the giraffe-in-basket-on-nonexistent-hood method, or you can hang the giraffe from the rear-view mirror
You can't hang it from the mirror. There are some that have a string, which you can hang, but that one that Alex found doesn't.

I commented this recently but I'm gonna do it again here. FailRace should have a GTA V Open Wheel championship. Formula V? Formula GTA? With a series of full on 25 lap races. Teams, points, the works. I'd watch the hell out of that. My 2 cents.

It's an interesting idea on paper, but when the open wheels were first introduced Alex tried racing with them on stream and found them too fragile for decent racing, especially with GTA vehicle physics
@@eddiev2257 That may be, I don't tend to watch streams. I used to race a bit of everything in GTA but since the open wheel cars came out, specifically the BR8, they're exclusively what I race now. They're only "fragile" when you run into each other/the walls, and the FailRace posse are generally pretty conscientious drivers. Plus that's what the pits are for.

Trucks and buses do spawn at watchtowers, so anytime there is one within a short drive of the road you should swing out to look real quick.

Does really matter it's floating or not? It's not moving around, so the basket is still attached.
0:50 Broomstick spawns only in the starting house well.
Disconnect and reconnect the trailer. All the issues started when you got the trailer and it didn't connect straight.
I don't know if you had them on the other side of the pond, but over here we had a place called Toy's R Us with a giraffe as their mascot and his name was Geoffrey.

I found my truck at a bridge building, have actually changed from an armored one to a flatbed at one. Bridge buildings are occasionally found along the road by most I have seen are away from the road. Also, dying just loads the last autosave, don't worry about it happening.
Place baskets on either side of the front of the car and put the building lights in it. Free headlights. Good video mate.
My giraffe is named Geoff, so that's got my vote lol. Oh and a quick tip to get your door 100% shut - when you are behind the wheel, just detach the door then reattach it. It's mounting position is fully closed, so it will be as shut as possible. Hope you get the truck soon, I can't wait to see you struggle with one of those lol!

I also had difficulty finding the truck I wanted. I ended up with a camper truck powered by a car engine. I lined the inside of the camper with baskets and all of my junk is nicely organized.

There was a compass in the fuel shop he left behind as well, compasses are handy if you need to leave the road as you can set the arrow to point back to the road.

Build the car in the garage with the junk in there just for the hell of it
For those of you who dont know, having weight in the back of the trailer causes it to be unstable (causing crashes) so the weight should be loaded just in front of the axle on the trailer
You should open a bakery, it’s the only way you’ll have more rolls than in this video!
So the sleeping in this game actually works on a cooldown system, rather then a sleep through the night system. That bar that shows up when it says "can't sleep yet" shows the time remaining until you can.
The giraffe needs to be called Donkey!
This is the only series I actually wait for each episode to come out and I've been using TH-cam across multiple accounts since 2013
I did try this combination, small wheels were more stable. A bit to much glitch and to few content to keep playing it tho
Might help if he stuck all the lose stuff in the trunk in a basket as well... And likely try reconnecting the trailer.
Alex has built a lifeboat, whenever it falls over, it rights itself

Please, mount normal car size tires on the front of the car, it will increase the handling and stability a lot.

@@Dohvie Not sure if the game models this, but the Dacia is front wheel drive. With car tires it would accelerate really rapidly to a low top speed and not go any faster (except down hills).
Bike wheels all around for the win.

When this adventure will be over (hopefully not so soon), an interesting challenge would be to swap vehicle every time you come up to a new chassis, regardless of its condition

gidday from Oz. with me once I got 350-400km down the road in my bus it got extremely hilly with massively steep hills to climb. the bus engine did not handle that too well with lots of revving and going nowhere, like clutch slip or something. had to go back to a car and now back on reasonably flat again at over 500km. still have not found a truck yet. have had vehicle suddenly die a few times whilst UFO flew over me along the road. in the hilly section make sure you got plenty of fuel as there are no ships and bugger all of anything else. while driving click and hold right mouse button to get about half binocular distance. the sword is a great weapon against rabbits. truck more likely spawn at the two tower thingy with bridge between them.
With the eject-the-crap boot system, it may be the big bus/truck wheels clipping into the boot and then the items brushing against them. Idk if the boot has the no- physics thingy like the crates and the glovebox, but it's a potential explanation

this dacia 😆 it reminds me of the video, where alex got chased in fh4, while driving an impreza with disconnected brakes, using only the handbrake to get around corners 🤣

Turn off the option to autosave when driving. It will get so much worse as you progress.
The giraffe should be called LongneckX as it's obviously Canadian.
I think you can use a basket or a metal bar to fix it to the front of the donk.
The option to autosave while driving has never made any difference for me. It does not autosave unless you're on foot no matter how the option is set.

You can pick up dead rabbits. Do that and throw them away. I ran over one that glitched into my truck and it was stuck there for days until I could glitch it free...
If the main character of The Long Drive has to give a fitness lesson it would be to never skip leg day.
You should play 'the long dark' ,it contains cars where you find resourches or can shelter from snowstorm but none are actually drivable mind you,stil a great game
I got this game because of you lol anyway I got a truck at the large petrol station where you found two cars, save there and load back in, also check all toilets you'll find a ak47 there.
Hi Alex. I, for one, would name the giraffe Geoffrey, in honor of Toys 'R' Us.
Edit: I've always found the trucks at bus stops.
Edit #2: Also, the reason your game lags every now and then is due to the autosave. If you turn it off and just do a manual save at every building you stop at, the game will run smoother.

Best combos I could find :
- car with a truck engine, a bit less powerful than the bus engine, but much more manageable, lower gravity center so much better handling and stability. Careful though, the truck engine sticks out pretty low below the car, unlike the bus engine where you can pass over rocks up to size 3 without issues, if you do thhat with the truck engine mounted ...
- truck with a bus engine, wow ... very difficult to tip over, very good handling and enough power for top accel and top speed. You have to start in third gear if you do it manual as there is so much torque. With this one also you can cruise at top speed, even better than the car handling wise. I lost control at top speed many times and did doughnuts at high speed but didn't tip it. Sometimes does, but mostly not, just pray not to hit anything while spinning. I removed the speedometer of the truck and put the bus one instead, I find it more readable. Besides I like the old fashion clock.
BTW, you don't need to avoid rolling on rock size 1 and 2 with big wheels (truck or car), the truck and car with bus engine can go over them, there is enough clearance (even for size 3 rocks I think), and all big wheel configs don't seem too affected if the wheels hit the rock straight.
My brothers and I have a giraffe in our long drive and we call him Gerald :)
Never log out inside a building, When you come back in it will add extra loot and it might kill you!

What settings are you using to get this game looking so smooth? I have everything turned off and I can't get anything over 40 fps
I don’t know if you have a good pc but one of the issues I found is the terrain tile size. Don’t set it to anything lower than 100 otherwise it becomes a mess

Make sure to move the heavier barrel to the front of the trailer! It'll help keep it way more stable!
Although your wheels clip your car body, they do collide with the objects in the boot and rear seat unless they're tied down.
