You can actually open the center console engine cover like a door.
Why is this game so captivating, even though these episodes are so long I still feel sad when they end. It's a weird and interesting atmosphere, I don't know if I'd ever really want to play it myself but it's really fun to watch.

The Ferrari 348 requires the engine to be pulled every 3-5 years or 25,000 miles to replace the timing belts
So, the item attachment system isn't actually random, or a set grid. You can actually place items very accurately if you want to. When you attach an item, the game does not attach it relative to the item's current position in the world. It attaches the item relative to your cursor's position. Basically, when you hit "attach" the game will center the object around your cursor, and place it there. So, if you pick up a basket by the exact center, you can place it without it jumping to a different location. Also, putting an item on the ground, and then picking it up and hitting attach at the same time helps to place it in a way that is level to the ground.
I told him about this, and he mentioned it in one episode, and he now seems to have forgotten lol.

@@MisterItchy No, he concluded that it doesn't work from inside because he was trying to wash a rusted panel (which needed to be brushed first)

My tanker is covered in baskets, a bed on the front with a spare bus engine on it, and towing a spare car using the metal bars to make a hook and loop.
You can check/fill the oil with the bus engine from the passenger seat. The oil caps are in the footwell.
The center console opens and closes so if he still had a truck engine he could top off the oil anyway.
@@robertdevito5001 Yes, but he no longer has the truck engine. With the bus engine you must access the oil from the passenger footwell.
@@scottthewaterwarrior I know, but Alex seems to think it doesn’t open, he said he wouldn’t be able to check anymore with that on, and when he went to check just removed the console instead of opening it.

I have a car in a flatbed truck I’ve driven a few hundred kilometers with, unfortunately that’s an old save file and when I try to load it all of my crap, and I have a lot of crap, loads in about 30 feet in the air, funnily enough the only things that aren’t glitchy and angry are the bike, the car, and the truck they’re loaded in. My ammunition, rifles, handguns, spare magazines, sponges, spray bottles, brushes, siphon, and cans all spawn outside of their baskets, and all of that stuff falls all over the places and it takes me about 15 minutes to reorganize it. Like I said, I had a lot of stuff, but the car hasn’t been glitchy, the only concern is when you go to get out of the car after loading it into the truck, you can’t open the door all the way because you’ll destroy everything with your super strength.

I wouldn´t even mind if alex made some videos where he is only driving until his resources are scarce enough to go loot again :D
On the Sunglasses, there is actually a setting that enables them to modify your vision (essentially a colored filter on top, it’s very neat). Additionally, you couldn’t put those on because you have a pair on already! However, I don’t actually remember how to take them off, off the top of my head. It should be a button like tab maybe.
There is an specified button used to take off accessories
I think its 'X' by default.

I love these Long Drive videos, the only thing that frustrates me a little is when you walk so far with things you pick up instead of parking the vehicle right next to where all the goodies are!! 😂
The best way to take the truck engine out is to take off the grill and the front bumper to give you the clearance you need.
Edit #1: The reason you're not able to stop that easily is the fact that you have more weight than just the truck behind you.
I agree that some urgency in the gameplay would be nice. For example, there could be “dead zones” where buildings spawn less frequently or there could be a hunger/thirst system where you need to keep your water level high enough and eat scavenged or hunted food.
Why havent you put a tire around a barrel yet to see how Long Drive likes those physics meshing?
I know this is the most popular game on the internet, but I really like this game. I don’t have a pc to play it on but I really love games that have novel concepts like this. This could even be my favorite series on TH-cam! Please continue playing this game, I really do enjoy learning new things about the game at the same time you do!

Are you already wearing sunglasses? The game won't let you wear more than one pair at a time (which is a pity).
When you're driving up a hill, you can switch to 3rd person view (C) to gauge how steep the thing is. 3rd person also lets you scan the environment for non-obvious structures.
Leave your truck door open when visiting buildings so you aren't fumbling with game mechanics when fleeing back to your vehicle from a mad rabbit.
Really enjoying this series.

Last episode I did, I stuck a steel bar the front on my project car, drove it under the rear bumper of my truck, then stuck an arm to the end of the bar pointing up and a leg to the hand on the arm angled back down the the car, making what amounts to a tow hook. Ive only tested it briefly, but so far it seems to be working well.
I wonder why so few players of this game dare to load up on supplies and go off-road into the bush - for a true survivalist adventure.

With the Bus Engine in the truck you can check and fill the oil from the passenger door, the caps are in the passenger footwell.
i remember watching FailRace videos during summer at x0.5 because i wanted them to last as long as it was possible... now i watch them at x1.5 because i can't to get up for school in the morning 😝
You can access the bus engine's oil fill ports from the passenger seat. They stick through the floor 😁

I'm liking this so far but I think time has come to start the shenanigans! First would be mixing alcohol with the diesel in the truck as that would be something that would moreless work IRL. Also the bike on the back must suffer *coff coff...* must be used for scientific experiments!

@@automation7295 a) it was a joke... hinting at the fact that even the long drive can manage reflections, on a cheap and terrible graphics engine with very little money backing it... compared to Rockstar... who have so far encouraged players to pay out 3 times for the same title on 3 generations on console.

You know the truck has a rack on the opposite side of the gas tank and two at the end that you can secure stuff to like a basket right? I store a full diesel and full water barrel on the end ones and two spare tires on the side.

That bike at the start was complete, just swap it with the one you have. Yours has no mirrors and the wrong front wheel.
That light you found is an interior light.
You should store some water.. You can probably store barrels UNDER the trailer and your truck still has spare slots.
The bike will run on silly fuels, as will the Trabant air-cooled car engine. They might need an oil-fuel blend, you can research that.

.. sleep when sky turns black then its brighter in the morning... also if you have a barrel or a can next to fuel filler cap (example the Renault and have a can in the boot you open the filler and left click ...you dont need to hold the can)
You can also clean up your radio and mirrors if you want to make your truck 100%

The Boats could be based on what happened to the Aral Sea (which would be plausible as all of the cars are built in the USSR or communist countries that were allied to it at the time), it was once a massive lake that due to mismanagement (some what an understatement) of irrigation channels shrank back to almost nothing leaving a dry desert like climate in it's wake and could be mistaken for something from a Post apocalyptic movie with the rusting hulks of boats and marine structures that litter the basin.
I had a UFO show up on the 1st day. It was loud and I hide inside building. I made sure my car was far from the green glow so not to have anything stolen. Now I kind of want to stand in the light.

The center console can be opened by grabbing and lifting one side. Plus you can check/fill the oil by sitting in the passenger seat and looking down at the oil cap. Not sure if he'll see this so feel free to like the comment to see if it grabs his attention xD

Can you use a basket as a bikerack in the trailer, put the bike upright with front wheel in the basket.

I think the bike you have in your truck has a car wheel as its front wheel. You could grab a proper bike wheel the next time you find a bike.
Fortunately you don’t need to bring a car with you. You have a bike, that might work with a car engine.
You need an air cooled car engine. There is no mounting point for a radiator. It is fun however :)
