Spoke with my mentor today and I’m switching from IT Management…basically this degree at WGU offers no certifications so will have to go get them on your own so more money. If you have never worked in tech and have no certs this degree is NOT for you. Do the IT degree instead that one includes the certifications at no extra cost. This is what I call a bridge degree for those people who are already in the field and want to move up into management, it’s not for someone who wants to enter the field. Thats what I gathered from my mentor
I start October 1st. I've been in the industry for 5 years now, all as a System Admin, self taught and no certifications. The only thing I've felt holding me back was lack of "education". I'm excited and hopeful this degree will check that box in the future. Once that's done, I'll think about getting some certs (finally lol)
I will be finished with my AAS in 2025. I want to go over to WGU and take this to make my resume look a bit better. My AAS is Network Administration, I want to get a Bachelor's ASAP to not waste anymore time. I'm currently a Help Desk Tech and have been for almost 2 years.
Excellent video! Just what I needed, I know you like software engineering degree, however I have a lot of business management experience, and I also have some credits from a college for business degree, but I am very interested in the IT field, I would like to move up in my current job, can this degree help me jump in the IT field with my job? Also, you mentioned something about adding certifications, how would I do that? Since this degree does not include certs, or what do you recommend I do as far as a degree? I have no IT experience, please help since I am tired of sales in my current job. I wanna have more options. Thanks
Thank you for the videos man, I have learned a lot of new information. I'm starting July 1st WGU, I went to a vocational school and land myself a IT job and been doing it for years but now I want more. I want to finish this in less than a year and that's my goal. what if I decided to take the Geneds in WGU? would that make it longer? is it not possible knock a English clash in two days (given that you already know the material).
Thank you so mch for taking the time to explain all this. Is there a reason why you did not use Sophia for most? I have checked and they are there too.
Either is fine, but Study has more tech classes that transfer, better interface, and no papers for 100 level classes. I’d rather do a ton of quizzes over writing.
I’m in community college right now, taking up my second internship currently and I am now entering sophomore year looking to add more classes. Could this be tangible if I want to work/ intern while pursuing my bachelors ? I’ve noticed the disconnect of experience vs holding a degree to employers with no experience and that is why I’m considering WGU, to build my portfolio of experience and then finish my bachelors so I can enter the field with a good bit of credentials+ a degree. I feel like if I attended a instate school for a bachelors program it would be drawn out and lengthy and my college would be taken care of but it is also a expensive penny that I would if I could… avoid paying. Also why WGU is on the table.
I am currently enrolled in the Supply Chain & Ops Management program. I work in pharmaceuticals currently as a QA Representative, but I am wanting to transition back to an Analyst role. I have 2 years of experience as a very entry level data analyst role years back. I think I'm going to stick with my current major for the next term and get the WGU Business Analytics certificate (not included in the BSBAITM program and the Google Data Analytics certificate, take a 2-month break, grab the Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst cert and then transition to the BSBA, ITM major. I'm hoping this path will allow me to transition to an Analytical role while I finish out my degree seeing as how I'd have 3 certificates and solid previous experience. Is this a strategy you would recommend to someone in my situation?
I am not really wanting to be a programmer but I want an IT for project manager side of things. Would this degree help adding on a project management certification with some other non programs certification.if so which ones would you combo with.
Hello I’m trying to make a decision between the cybersecurity bs or the i.t management bs which one can I finish faster thank you I appreciate it the information.
Does principles of microeconomics from Sophia alone cover principles of economics at wgu? Since wgu consists of macro and micro economics. And does same go for taking macroeconomics alone at Sophia?
Im currently a full-time SWE (2 yrs of exp) and I am quitting the WGU SWE degree because im burnt out coding at work and then coding for school. Im considering this since I eventually want to be a SWE manager in the next 5-10 yrs. Coding at work is cool but I absolutely hate the trivial coding questions schools require you to solve 🤣 it just doesn't translate in the real world so Im hoping this is a better plan!
@@alexsheppe I really need one, I am about to be off work for 6 months to a year, I want to take full advantage of completing my degree, if you can help it would be greatly appreciated, or can guide me to someone else

Will you be doing a video on the Accelerated Information Technology Bachelor's and Master's Degree program?
I’ll take a look at it!

This is what I need at this time. Thanks for sharing ❤
I gotta try one class to better imagine how the system looks like

For transfer credits, were you able to transfer in any certifications to mark some classes complete?

Thank you man, I’m going to get this degree! Really just want to be able to add it to my resume and say I have a BA haha
BS in Cyber Security and MBA in information technology management is my goal in the next 20-24 months. I'm sad that I just found out about this.

WGU would def help imo.
I want to get this degree. But do we need to do certificates ?

& then continue with the MS, Data Analytics degree. That's the game plan.
Sounds like a solid plan my guy. Really detailed. I support this 100%.
NERDDDDDD!!!! Lol
thank you very much 🙏
I may have missed it but is this for the bachelors or masters?
What degree would you recommend for a canadain trying to get a job with a bsc of science in biology
I am not really wanting to be a programmer but I want an IT for project manager side of things. Would this degree help adding on a project management certification with some other non programs certification.if so which ones would you combo with.
PMP for Project Management, and MBA would be helpful but not necessary.
@@alexsheppe gotcha thanks so just add on titles like Cisco and Microsoft 365 certification on top of the business information administration BA?
Can i get a cybersecurity job with this degree and a security plus? I also already have a 2 year degree in cybersecurity and comptia a +
Absolutely! I would add the Security+ and maybe a Network cert after your degree and mass apply.

You would definitely finish IT Management faster.

Yes, it does.
Would this pair well with the masters in data analytics?
Yes, very

Do you do 1 on 1 consultations?
I have gotten a lot of inquiries, but not at the moment. I don’t have any spare time at the moment. It’s possible in the future.

ITM vs umpi Project MIS?
Either one is solid. I’d probably go umpi, but you’d probably learn more from wgu.
