I graduated 4/2/2024 and got my MS in Curriculum and Instruction in 4 months. I kept watching this video and the one from The Purrfect Pencil channel. I enrolled 12/1/2023 and got to my final two classes in January 2024, but those final classes took one month to complete each and I was so devastated initially. Whenever they sent something back for revisions and I wanted to quit, I just kept these videos on repeat. My classes were finished 03/25/2024, but I had to wait for it to be conferred so my graduation date is 04/02/2024. I am proud of myself. 2 months was my goal as well, but I realized something. The important this is to finish. No matter how long it takes to get to the finish line, cross it and go be great! Thank you for making this video.
Thank you so much for sharing this! It was right on time for me. Since I am not working this summer, I am seriously considering completing this program and now I feel like it may actually be possible thanks to you!
Thank you for this video. I received my bachelors through WGU. I really enjoyed my experience and am currently teaching. I’m looking into going for my Masters but wanted more info on their program.
I'm 4 months into the program and i am about to begin my last course D 181. I work full time, and I am involved in my church, but I will be able to finish the program in one term. I don't sleep that much though and my family is helping to keep the house in order.
Some classes in other programs have tests called Objective Assessments. These are remotely proctored assessments so an external webcam with a webcam is required. Congrats on completing your degree!!
Hey! Thank you so much, for this video !! Do you think you can do a detailed video of the layout of the program. You did in this video but could you possible list out how many papers for each segment of the course
Each course has 2-4 tasks, with the exception of the capstone (last "course") which has 5. The tasks come with a very detailed rubric that explains exactly what the evaluators are looking for, which makes it very clear and easy to manage. You are evaluated by competency for each task by meeting the task requirements, and you can either "pass" (show competency) or your task is resubmitted to you for revisions with the instructors feedback. (This only happened to me a few times with minor issues, like APA formatting errors or needing to rephrase something) You can often choose between either submitting a presentation or a paper. All of the courses come with modules/units with professional cited sources for the content, which you can also use in your task (paper/presentation) which helps a lot because they are already centered on the topic. I hope this helps!
I’m starting June 1st! We only get 8 weeks of summer break so my plan as to atleast finish everything but the capstone completed by then. Thanks so much for this video. I just needed to see it was possible❤
Same here! I go back to work in August so I want to finish all the PA's by then. And use September and October to finish the capstone. Best of luck to you all!
I graduate with my Bachelors in May, looking to start my Masters in July. Any suggestions for a first year teacher who is looking to get their Masters at the same time? Also, I never hear anyone address how payment happens, do they have a payment plan, is it required all up front, etc.
Just want to come on here and set expectations for future Owls-there is 1 test in the 5th course which replaces 3 papers. But, I took it and passed it today! Good luck to all of you on this journey. I, too, should be done by the end of June (two months). Maybe even a month and a half. We’ll see. In the summer, it has been easy to knock out 2 tasks per day
can I ask for some advice on the capstone please. I have two weeks to do it and want to complete it in a week mainly because I am also in nursing school and they kinda of overlapped but we are in spring break at nursing school this week so I would like to complete this this week. Can I have some tips please.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m enrolled in the MS Curriculum and Instruction program slated to start on May 1st. Did any part of the program require the use of the webcam?
@@mixylove6152 It’s going pretty good. I’ve completed my first course in one month. I wanted to finish it in 3 weeks but I’m giving myself some grace as I work full time teaching and the end of the school year is so busy. But I’m going to pick up the pace once school gets out and plan to finish each course in 10 days.
@@bria_trenee Did you finish? How did you know you wanted to pursue curriculum and instruction? I'm trying to decide which program I want to do this summer.
Thank you for sharing! I have three questions: 1) I am hoping to connect with people and so looked at fb, but all the groups are private and their are no pages. Any advice? 2) Do you know who was looking at you papers and leaving comments/deciding if you passed? Was it your mentor or some one else? 3) do you have any experience with scholarships?
Hey i have a question so my husband and i are thinking of getting wgu hr management masters … some people how ever said that masters shd be done in person and all.. do u think if u do afters online then its harder to find a job?
I feel like we’re in the same group. I’m mad though because talking to the person for information she said they don’t do that anymore. I could’ve dealt with that but then she said I would have to quit teaching for about 8-10 weeks to do my observation/student teaching. She was nice but very vague and limited with information. So I’m at gcu. I JUST found out tonight that she gave me all of the wrong information. So tomorrow I’m trying to find out about transferring.
This is because to get your bachelor’s degree, you need to complete 120 credits. If you take 4 three credit courses per term, you will complete 24 credits for the year. In order to reach 120 credits, it will take 5 years.
It says five years initially. You enroll with four classes. The goal is to finish those four classes asap. I finished my first four in two months! After that your mentor can add more classes! So as you complete, they add classes. Four is the minimum that you must complete in a term but there’s no maximum. You can do as many as you can handle in a term.
@@Prettygirlblessed I know this comment is old but 5 years is if you do the minimum, you’re able to go as fast as you want and there’s lots of people who finish in a year or even 6 months!
I did 18 months of coursework in 2 months! 1. This program takes dedication and hard work. 2. It isn't a shortcut by any means. 3. No job is looking at how long it took me to get my degree and if I was to tell them.. I'm sure they would be amazed
I graduated from WGU. I absolutely LOVED their competence based model.
WGU is the best! Wish I had known about it sooner!
Did you complete the Masters of Curriculum and Instruction?
I got my MBA in nine weeks from WGU. It's the real deal!
WOW! That's amazing!
Wow that’s amazing. I’m thinking about going to WGU
Did you transfer credits?
likely a cheater, according to the federal government.

Can you take WGU credits and go to another university?
You said there weren't any tests, but I keep hearing the biggest downfall to WGU is the proctoring?
why did you choose curriculum and instructions
Because she said she wants to work for the school district, in the sector that helps create the curriculum. I thought that was pretty interesting!
the Federal Trade Comission explicity states that degrees obtained that fast are suspect at best.
lol

was someone watching you do the english and math test
There are no test for this specific program! But for programs in which there are, the exams are proctored.
