    I really like doing this, but use it as a low impact workout. Like was said here, its good for stabilisation, and muscle endurance especially on the positive phase.

    • @expertboxing
      @expertboxing  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, for stabilization I like it. But not so much for generating explosive power like people try to do.

      You're mixing two different workouts... You work retraction also... Doing pull presses with the resistance bands ... Pull ups etc. You use everything at your😮 disposal... Every little bit helps... you don't not do one workout because you have to do another workout to work another muscle... Use them all

    I use them, it fatigues me quicker and i work through it maintaining good technique. Adding resistance will always improve or add strength or speed to a movement, thats how the body works

    • @cel5207
      @cel5207 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I fully believe these would help with speed, strength too as it's gonna tire out the delts faster due to the resistance like you mentioned. It's comparable to some baseball players swinging with a heavier bat during practice.

    Yeah, they do nothing for power. I do think they have some benefit for speed, but only up to a point, generally for people who are out of shape and their lack of fitness is making them slow down really soon. This becomes a decent beginner drill until their endurance builds up a little bit, so for a couple of weeks. Love your Cardigan, looking sharp!

  • @webherring
    @webherring ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The delts usually get tired before the lats or back. That said, I would not use bands for shadowboxing. I would use them plyometrically, punch extended as starting position, retract as fast as possible and explode back out. I'd also anchor the strap to a wall behind me, so I can involve the legs, core and stance.

  • @chadwithautism
    @chadwithautism ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I believe that there isn't any way possible to add resistance when shadowboxing that's significant enough to stimulate adaptations for speed or power unless you add the word endurance behind them.

      @@expertboxing I'm guessing you feel similarly about the little 1 or 2 LB egg weights you can buy to shadow box with? I feel like they should have value from a shoulder conditioning standpoint as opposed to speed or power. If you can shadow box for a solid 10mins with 2LBs of resistance in each hand then theoretically you can go much longer with just your fists. Also, i was curious to see if you heard of not very well known tool called "Evnik"? its a light weight rubber tool that supposed to allow you to form boxer fist perfectly that adds resistance and lets you know if your hitting your target properly.

    • @expertboxing
      @expertboxing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TsabaronSecron It's really silly mentality to try and add resistance to everything. Because many exercises and movements in boxing are about coordination moreso than strength. Sure...go ahead and add weights. You might FEEL like you're getting stronger. But all you're doing is jacking up your coordination and also taking away precious time from getting your hands used to moving at high speed.
      Some sprint workouts have you running UPHILL to add resistance. Makes sense, right? To make you work harder. But you know what else they do...have runners sprinting DOWNHILL. Why? To get your legs used to running faster and forcing your mind to coordinate all this at higher speeds. Shadowboxing is intended for HIGH SPEED and COORDINATION workout. So don't be an idiot by taking all the speed out of your speed workout. Jesus fucking christ...end rant. Hahahahah

    You make a good point but resistance bands do make your punches harder and faster and give you more stamina I don’t think improving technique is intended while wearing them but yeah like you said you need to bring your punch back quickly and the resistance bands do that for you which is why you shouldn’t be using resistance bands for your whole training session. I’m planning on getting resistance bands soon but I also have heavy gloves and weights to work on retracting faster.

    At the moment there is no study for this at least nothing i found with deep research. However, ive been looking at someone who does this with bands mostly loop bands. Not shadow boxing but hitting pads with it and working on straight punches. What helps is endurance and explosive power when it comes to full extension without hyper extension. When cutting to the end of the work out you drop the bands. For its mirrior set you would do the opposite. Tie the bands and work on retraction with the bands add some head movement as well. After 8 months he looks like he improved a lotm how much from the bands? Tough to say but it looks like there were good benifits specifically with his jab, i notice it was so crisp.

I did dips, bench, press, rows, chins and never done bicep curls and had strong foresrm snd triceps but under-developed biceps. F=mxa. More mass, more stability on my arm; a wayyyy more SOLID punch. I see so many people doing all this baloney workouts and they never ask themselves "what muscle group am I working?" 😅 they just say "gee, this looks like boxing". Neck trainging? Literal world champions use resistance bands instead of weights as it prevents over extension injury while training , also its literally scientifically proven to work .sooooo i duno man it honestly looks like your not even doing the movements correctly just to support your argument. lol Also resistance bands work you in both directions on the movement hence the name RESISTANCE so your wrong on that point since your still working during retraction of the punch if your keeping your form just like when your lifting weights lol. You straight up BRO SCIENCED this up . if you feel other wise here is a link to one of THE MOST decorated combat athletes that disagrees with you Gabriel Varga th-cam.com/video/sTFOZFtcvS8/w-d-xo.html Also got a link of GSP in chamber .

    I agree with you that this is not a good excercise if you rely only on it for developing the power of the punch.
    As you said it is a good excercise for developing part of the muscles used in the punch - triceps.
    But i would also add, that this excercise is good when you use it along with other excercises for increase of the power of the punch like :
    - landmine excercises ( especially good for hooks)
    - shadowboxing with light weights ( good for developing that shoulder strength that you talked about)
    - core exercises ( to stabilise your core, and transfer the power from the ground up )
    P.S. your videos are great and fun to watch.
    Keep up the good work
