I would say start with youtube videos and find a virtual coach that can watch you train from time to time or review footage every week while you look for a coach.
The problem, we having is that some of coaches have favorite fighters competing or training with one can’t fight and that scared.. listen this my first time going to try boxing age 45 year old and spending 4 hours gym get my self in shape and lost 56 pounds about 6 months and then a reconstruction flat feet surgery need to be done that stop me for 3 months recovery. Now I’m back on gym as physical training blink fitness. I’m planning to training with the Philippine country during my vacation because training more cheap then USA. When watch video other fighters skill sand how fast they moved and push, I get fear and uncomfortable, please my heart I know there lot better fighters out there can’t possibly knock me out easy to show of front coach and want to training not to be easy target for them,

Speaking of injuries, injured both of my wrists in sparring and then since I couln't box and train upper body that much I started running a lot and now I got a pair of sprained ankles

When you say starting late, there's only so far you can go at a certain age. I believe it's a young mans game, having said that im 44 and started 6 months ago. But it's all levels, so anything beyond unlicensed/ white collar matches is unrealistic for anyone my age i think.
I agree 100%. There is only so far you would be able to go as a professional boxer, but that does not mean there are not other ways to make a living from boxing. Just making a living from being a professional boxer may not be in the cards.

Hi there , i started boxing yesterday and plan on to train 6hrs a week (3 times a week ) . I was obviously the worst in the gym but i want to become skilled and above average . Is it normal to be bad at the start and will i overtake the boxers at the gym overtime?
I dont know if you will overtake the boxers in the gym, but everyone started out not so good. If you stay committed and dedicated to the craft you will get better.
I started boxing at 14 years old and stopped at 16 now I’m 21 years old I wanna go back to go pro and be the best out there , is it too late to go back and start again ????
What advice would you give to someone who started boxing at 16 and takes it very seriously. I dropped out of school to persue a career as a pro boxer so I train 2 to 3 times per day but the country I am in does not have the best amateur boxing scene (we have nationals but it’s at a way lower level than nationals in America) I am however surrounded by other professionals in my gym that I always spar including a former world champion. Do you think it is possible to be a international high level pro without a crazy amateur background? I feel like I was made for this sport and I can make it but I just wanna see if u got any advice for me
You need to run a lot. Your cardio needs to be top tier. Run like 4-5 miles a day, and do like a long run for like 8-9 miles every two weeks. Make sure you’re still eating right and still lifting so you don’t sacrifice your strength for the conditioning. You will be able to will yourself to stay in a fight no matter how good your opponent is. Running for long distances also makes your chin/tolerance for punches to the head better.
At 16 you have so much time to develop and mature bro! Take your time stay dedicated and disciplined, just don't burn out. Have you ever asked the former world champions in your gym how they did, what steps you should take, and if you are made for the sport they should see it as well and try to connect you with people? Definitely keep going though bro! You can do anything you put your mind to no BS!
Can you give me your honest no bullshit opinion on this bro? I have been boxing on and off since I was 18 years old. I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m in the army and I am in the process of becoming a cop. This is the first time in a long time where I have the time and resources to give this one last chance. This is the only physical thing that has ever worked for me. I turn 30 in July, I would ideally like to go pro say around 33. What do you think? Keep in mind, I have experience and got the fundamentals down.
It depends on you , it’s definitely gonna be more difficult for you considering your age … but if you work hard and stay dedicated you definitely have a chance 🤷🏻♂️I say give it your all and see what happens , we only get one shot at life .
I agree with the comment down below. If you have the talent plus the experience you could definitely do it and being an officer plus an army veteran you will have a fan base. At 30 you could definitely do something though, but choose a goal.

Thank you for showing love. When it comes to equipment you could buy to help you it all depends on the amount of space you have. I dont know about VR cardio.
25 here starting boxing bc my spark for soccer left me I rarely enjoy skirmishes for soccer and I dont play competitive Sunday league anymore been 8 months. Im not the type of person to be happy with myself when Im not active yeah I workout but its different from the spark of a sport
GO for it! The spark you will get from boxing is like no other.
There is a HW I heard of he got KO twice as an Amateur but went pro and he became 76-9 losses someone else know he was a two time national champ in cincy he ended up 2-18
Im going to look him up
Great vid bro.
Never heard the road and options laid out like this👏
Thank you. I really hope it can help alot of people.
Good looks and good tips. Preciate it!
Thank you
I’m 23 but I feel like that’s so late to start especially since I be seeing 5 year olds starting to box
Excellent video! Solid info, with a legit perspective!
Thank you.
I'm also dealing with a partial shoulder labrum tear from boxing, wondering how long it took you to fix it, and how you're dealing with it now?
Honestly. I don't think it fully healed. I did therapy for it and had no issues until I stopped stabilizing and strength that area. When I am consistent on my mobility and strength training, it doesn't bother me.
Man Bro U Got A Lotta Wisdom I’m Glad I Came Across This Channel Fa Sho 💪🏿✨
Thank you for real
@@keysessoms Nah Thank U Salute ✊🏿💯
Love this , thank you for the advice bro ! I just recently turned 27 but I’ve been training and sparring for five years actively. Been pushing my skills even more now, even if Im not currently at a gym. Hopefully if I get the chance I could go pro, fingers crossed.🤞🙏
No problem. Why do you want to go pro?
@@keysessoms It’s been something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time since I was a kid. Admittedly I need a lot more experience before I could take that route, but I love boxing. While I’m young I want to take the chance to do it before my body doesn’t allow me to box as much.
Thank you for this champ!🫡🫵🏆
No problem 👍
Thanks many useful tips
No problem. you are welcome.
You should make a video showing us your training and how you train
I will one of these days. My next video I will show how I film study my own fights and sparring and gameplan from there.
I am 18 will turn 19 in few months and I want to get in shape and learn fighting but I think that it’s too late to start learning boxing and also I can’t really find any martial arts gym in my city I am confused whether I should start by watching TH-cam videos or wait for more years until I find any real coach.
When watch video other fighters skill sand how fast they moved and push, I get fear and uncomfortable, please my heart I know there lot better fighters out there can’t possibly knock me out easy to show of front coach and want to training not to be easy target for them,
Hey how do I practice the basics on the jab where I’m loose with my arm it seems too stiff
Practice not tightening your fist while hitting the bag.
Been tryna start boxing I'm 17 but I don't have any gyms close to me
Wassup god I just turned 27 I have some experience with fights in ny and the Caribbean. I know 52 blocks and want to learn boxing for the art and knowledge to box how do I go about this
Find a boxing gym and start training. You should pick it up fairly easy.
I started summer of last year, at 32, not looking to go pro or anything, but i would like to do 1 amerature fight just to see if i can even do it. From what im hearing from my gym, however, is that heavy weights are difficult to come by in my state of Ga, most heavyweights go to Texas
Thank you! I wish you the best on your journey.
@@keysessoms thanks man! Should I go to texas?
Never too late to join. If you’re doing it for exercise, or local comp. If your trying to go pro u can be late but still make it late.
Agreed
Speaking of injuries, injured both of my wrists in sparring and then since I couln't box and train upper body that much I started running a lot and now I got a pair of sprained ankles
Hope you recover well.
Yo, how do you box with all those injuries? I have what I believe is bicep tendinitis, and it's so annoying. I want to box, but idk if I would be any good with my injury. By the way, I'm 30 years young
i have no idea honestly. I try to work through it, but I sometimes I cant thats why I am not competing anymore
Local presence here in nyc is tough 🤣. Gotta deal with too much when people know you’re an mma fighter
Thats crazy
Boxer Champion with Degree!
Duran had very little am fights apparently.
Yea I think you are right. One of my first trainers fought Roberto Duran
@@keysessoms That’s wild. I’m a big fan of what you are doing from top to bottom from the branding to sharing the game and the clever boxing. Much love and respect. I’m in the metro region and hope to pull up to one of your fights. 🙏🏾
im now 30 and im thinking of trying pro boxing before i turn 40
I am self taught boxer. Currently working on buying more equipment to work with. When i started I wasn't sure if I wanted to take this serious after sometime i decided togive it my all. If anyone from CA want to spar me i am 160 lbs. I have 2 videos on my channel showing some of my skills.
good luck on the journey
Im 30 years old and i love boxing . I did few amateur fights on my past , but for lack of dicipline and being lazy I didnt turn to profesional boxer. To be honest , I would like to have atleast few profesional fights before will more late .
Go for it. How many amateur fights you had and when did you have them?
I did around 15, but now my weight is 154 when I should be fought in 126
@@bryanquiroga3912 yeah you may have to cut that weight first
Is 17 late? I’ve been boxing since I was 12 but not with a coach just me and my brother studying fights and sparring eachothers and filming it to break down what we need to fix
17 is not to late.
Just making a living from being a professional boxer may not be in the cards.
how i suppose to manage time as someone who is working for 12 hours a day from 11 am till 12 midnight i am really serious about boxing i train by myself but i need to go to a boxing gym still but time and schedule at the Only boxing gym in my city are so not do able they have diff packages the only morning class is about 120$ a month but the timing still not good enough for me i hate rushing to work and being anxious that i might be late for work every training session......what should i Do....i dont wanna leave my job tooo since i jobhuntingfor 2 years to finally have a job i ain't stoping istg....i wanna manage both in a healthy way
If you can shoot me a DM on instagram.
is it possible for managers and promoters to be at amateur bouts and scout for potential fighters
It definitely is. Boxing does not have alot of the regulations that other sports have.
Is coaching boxing a good idea while being an amateur instead of getting some job? Helps with your social media presence too?
I think it is one of the best things a boxer can do. Not only can it make you decent money, but it will improve your boxing as well.
Nice content bro, What Camera are you using? I wanna start youtube
@@keysessoms thank you for the response 🙏 good luck with your career
I started boxing at 14 years old and stopped at 16 now I’m 21 years old I wanna go back to go pro and be the best out there , is it too late to go back and start again ????
Let's Go kenyon this man is nice!
Thank you for the support bro!
Hi what is the age limit for starting amateur competitions? Is 30 late?
To start competing as an amateur 30 is not to late.
🙏🙏🙏 thank you for the video bro
My pleasure
Can you make an in depth video on nutrition pls
I will try my best. I know enough to help you average person and fighters, but I am not a registered dietitian.
Is beginning to box at 19 late?
No

What advice would you give to someone who started boxing at 16 and takes it very seriously. I dropped out of school to persue a career as a pro boxer so I train 2 to 3 times per day but the country I am in does not have the best amateur boxing scene (we have nationals but it’s at a way lower level than nationals in America)
I am however surrounded by other professionals in my gym that I always spar including a former world champion.
Do you think it is possible to be a international high level pro without a crazy amateur background?
I feel like I was made for this sport and I can make it but I just wanna see if u got any advice for me
Fly ma boy
You need to run a lot. Your cardio needs to be top tier. Run like 4-5 miles a day, and do like a long run for like 8-9 miles every two weeks. Make sure you’re still eating right and still lifting so you don’t sacrifice your strength for the conditioning. You will be able to will yourself to stay in a fight no matter how good your opponent is. Running for long distances also makes your chin/tolerance for punches to the head better.
There’s legends of the sport that started later than 16 so yea. Great age because you can get some fights and experience before u turn into a adult.
Hello!
I came across this remarkable video that has truly captivated me.
Since my college days, I've been immersed in the world of boxing, having joined the boxing club, and it has evolved into a cherished hobby. I was wondering if I could have your permission to use this video and provide Chinese subtitles for it. The intention is to share it on my channel, extending its reach to my friends and the Chinese audience. I'm convinced that these valuable insights will not only benefit us but also resonate well with a broader audience. Your generosity in sharing this knowledge is highly appreciated.
Thank you!
Thank you for that. I'm not 100% okay with you using this video on your page, but I am willing to get Chinese subtitles so that you can still share it.
@@keysessoms okay, then I won’t use it. Still appreciate what you do for this video. It really helps! Keep working!

You’ve seen my vids on IG. I want to start a youtube channel for my journey. I’m just now starting at 28 & on a weight loss journey. What should my first video be? My training is about to be filmed in a few weeks and i’m wondering where to start with youtube

Bro I’m 16 turning 17 in 4 months I’ve done boxing for 6 months but don’t know if I should go back before 18 to see if I can make serious money in the fight game wether bare knuckle or boxing do you think I realistically have enough to get to the level by 18 or 19 would still be possible to go pro in boxing at 19 or 18 cause also don’t want to invest so much time into nothing but Iam a believer what’s your thoughts 💭
If you dont believe in the dream dont go for it
Is starting at 16 late?
Nope that is really young
Jeff chandler only had 1 or 2 army fights and was one of the greats
My coach used to make me watch him a lot. Great fighter
What age did you start boxing?
21 yrs old
what age range do you personally think is a "late" start to boxing ?
I dont think it is ever to late to start boxing, but to become a world champion is another story.
@@keysessoms true , what I meant is like a pro boxer. I’m 19 and started boxing at 18 and was just seeing if it’s worth to give it my absolute all which I pretty much do.
