What I like about this channel over a lot of other channels is that you explain time signatures in a way that’s very easy to digest. Understanding theory isn’t the easiest thing for me so this format really helps me understand.
I've been playing drums since 1992.. waaaay before you were born, but I'm a feel drummer, never had the brain type for time signatures & am a self taught jammer. Mr Cobb the Wizard.. You're changing my drumming life bro! 🤘😎👌
This, I learned to play on my own and just heard beats or sounds I enjoyed so I started by replicating, then building my own style. hearing time signatures broken down is a strange treat, and makes me appreciate some of the oddities I play here and there in a new way.
Awesome as usual. Love how you quoted Bonham's intro and how much respect you have for the great. I'm just proud to even share initials with him. Also, the Rush drumbeat reminded me, funny enough after you had just did your favorite Radiohead tune, of my favorite Radiohead song, Morning Bell. Bump on the head...
Much Balkan traditional music is in 7/8, and its actually a dance rhythm. Here's some example (from Romania and Serbia): - th-cam.com/video/sifXMhNAuXA/w-d-xo.html (Accordion fast piece) - th-cam.com/video/X9EP6O1UPCk/w-d-xo.html (famous Serbian song) - th-cam.com/video/XvptaqYv6DQ/w-d-xo.html (famous Romanian song) - th-cam.com/video/6gA6WB66LkE/w-d-xo.html (Aromanian song) - th-cam.com/video/KVBfxiThjhM/w-d-xo.html (love how it can feel very fast or very slow) - th-cam.com/video/nbOWP0KziS0/w-d-xo.html (Cimbalom (țambal) piece)
Now knowing the Wonder Woman theme was in 7/8 the whole time excels it iny brain as the best movie theme of all time. Having a whole video about 7/8 and not talking about King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard does admittedly hurt a little though Cobb
The piece "sensemaya" by Revueltas, the song "en el septimo dia" by Soda stereo, the intro of the song "nos siguen pegando abajo" by charly garcia. Thanjs for your videos!
Classically trained pianist here. Yeah, I play other stuff too. Just wanted to say thanks. Met my now husband so I could work on his pieces. Teach and all... never understood 7/8. This helps
7/8 also is used much by one of the best musicien composer in the world 'Yanni', he created much and most of his masterpieces on that time signature, he's very known on the world, and especially United States, i wonder nobody talking here about him, as i searched until now and i know that 7/8 origin is coming from his country Greece called 'Kalamatianos' and some parts of turkey too
Villa arrangiato: Very well pronounced. You can make the i of villa sound more like the e in English (or like "thee" as for "you" in ancient English - without the t obvsy) but it's great pronunciation overall. Thanks for your awesome videos.
You've been missing Pink Floyd's Money in all of your 7/8 videos. The main theme in the song Money is in 7/8 until the driving guitar solo which is in 4/4 and then goes back to 7/8 time for the last verse.

Miracles out of nowhere by Kansas
Them Bones by Alice In Chains
In a parallel universe this is the Jay and Silent Bob we deserve. Subbed!

Jay and silent Tyler strike back! The humor here is exceptional. I hope comedy central signs you, great show!
Awesome! Since that video of signatures, I wanted a video of you playing 7/8 rhythm and now here we are
Hysterical you're one of my favorite new guys... The drum throne was the perfect radio head filtered beat

Think Morning Bell is in 5/ 4 time ….
So cool to watch this after watching the Rush documentary. Always appreciate you and the Great Gaspar jamming and having fun.
Love your time signature videos, I have so much trouble working out time sigs so these are great! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽

The piece "sensemaya" by Revueltas, the song "en el septimo dia" by Soda stereo, the intro of the song "nos siguen pegando abajo" by charly garcia.

It’s actually 7/4 but really fast. But I also thought it was 7/8 until I looked at tabs for it
@@Toxoplasmosis679 I learnt to play it from a Drumeo vid, the guy breaks it down quite nicely
Pantera - I'm Broken has some of this in there too I think.
The verse has some 7/8
The verses are made up of 7 bars of 7/8 (counted 1,2 1,2 1,2,3)
and one bar of 9/8 (counted 1,2 1,2 1,2,3 1,2)
Great video and playing by you both, thanks! (I think Them Bones is another?)

Hey Cobb, are you familiar with James Muschler and his drumming with Moon Hooch? Feel like you'd enjoy his stuff.
It’s like jay and silent bob but with discount Jason Momoa playing Kevin Smith’s role.
Yeah Bonham was unbelievably good with time signatures.

Devo's song, "Jocko Homo" is mostly in 7/8, and then it switches to 4/4.

Villa arrangiato: Very well pronounced. You can make the i of villa sound more like the e in English (or like "thee" as for "you" in ancient English - without the t obvsy) but it's great pronunciation overall. Thanks for your awesome videos.
Nono ma il pezzo si chiama proprio “La Villa Strangiato” parola che credo si siano inventati loro, se ne sai qualcosa per piacere condividi
You've been missing Pink Floyd's Money in all of your 7/8 videos. The main theme in the song Money is in 7/8 until the driving guitar solo which is in 4/4 and then goes back to 7/8 time for the last verse.

Hi Cobb
Please tell us your list of songs you think one should learn to improve understanding of notation and time signatures!
New to your post it would be nice to see you bring more musicians and grow.and funny too . But no money in that.
LONG LIVE RUSH
“Strangiato” looks perfectly like an Italian word but actually makes no sense :D I’m wondering what they meant.
Isn't Money by Pink Floyd 7/8?
Nah, 7/4
I never like math. But yeah now I like math.
