Great content been thinking of getting this aquarium as I’ve been outta the hobby for years so any advice is golden thank you 🙏 keep the content coming
I’m setting up one of these in my office for my shrimp who were viciously attacked in my big tank. They’re living in my sump currently. Lol! I’m getting a 12 inch AI blade for my tank. I’m going to print two brackets to attach to the ends and use some hooks and wires to hang the light from the ceiling
I’ve got this exact tank and light setup but different filtration. Had it for a little over a year. I’ve got 4 zoa colonies 2 Duncan colonies. A lepto and an acan. All are doing amazing and I get about 2-4 new polyps a week with the zoas. I’ve been prepping for a while and I’m adding my first acro after Christmas if this year. I’ve had a monti do great in the tank for about 6 months and I removed it because it Grew to quickly for the tank.
I bought myself a parwise meter today and checked the par levels on my own fluval evo with this light. And mounted on the same bracket at its highest setting. Its not giving me the readings you have specified. Parkers reef did a par test with a seneye and got readings double than that compared to the opogee par meter. Please could you do a revised video with a different par meter. I think it would help people out alot .
Nice video question please, i have the ai prime 16 hd. On the ramp time does the light only have a ramp up no ramp down I notice at the end of the schedule the light just goes off, thats not right is it, i thought there would be a ramp down.
Check out the BRS videos but don't sweat it too much - the settings I use are a good start point for you. If you can get a par meter, it'll help you set the intensity.
Yes the section on the side of the tank. As I said there are various opinions on its setup (position of the heater, chamber 1 and 2 setup etc). Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers 👍🏻
Hey man can this light be enough for a 60 gallon 4ft long tank ? I currently have 2 50 watt nicrew lights but im not too happy and my torch and even acans are dying.
I wouldn't use these for that shape tank personally - an Evergrow IT5012 would be a much better choice. Or maybe a 48 inch AI Blade. But for what it's worth, unless your lights are turned up too high, I'd bet money that won't be what's killing your corals...
@@ReefDorkXtra i did an aqua spin test at my lfs and phosphates are at 0.3 i think that is a huge problem so im doing a big water change and adding chemi pure blue. Any thoughts?
What size tank do you have? I have two ai prime 16s set up on a 54 gallon Red Sea. I’m new to reefs. All lps and softies. Dosing daily, feeding corals every other day. Fish every day. Just want the best light setup I can have for them. Are your parameters in this video good for the 54 gallon Red Sea 250 with two lights?
Just a quick question would you have been better getting a Red Sea max nano taking into account all the upgrades you’ve added to the fluval….not trying to be a smart arse 😂
😅 Fair question! This still works out quite a lot cheaper and I really like the dimensions. But I also wanted to show that this can be done cheaply and that you can still easily upgrade it so it can grow with you if you want to improve it 🙂
I know you're busy but do you think one A1 would be good to add to 2 reef photons on a reef habitat 90 I do have a video of the tank on my you tube my water chemistry is ok the lfs said but I'm not getting much growth on corals wondering if a extra light would help lol
@@ReefDorkXtra I've just tested my water chemistry and nitrate is a bit high everything else is on par I'm starting to get disheartened by the whole hobby lol
Depends on the dimensions but that's probably about right. It might be a bit high up top - buy a 2nd hand seneye par meter if you can. You'll probably be able to sell it for what you paid after you've finished.
What's the depth of the tank because I have the same lights for redsea 250 but of course 2 of them. Would you know the settings for this size of tank for LPS? I don't have a PAR metre.
About 30cm I think. I couldn't accurately scale these settings up to a tank that big I'm afraid. But better to err on the side of caution - too little light is better than too much...
You blew it. Perfect opportunity to review Fluval Nano Marine light… 😢 And easily 1/2 the price. Still feel it’s a viable option for budget Nano reef build…
Thanks for doing this video. Just picked up an AI Prime 16 for a new nano frag tank. Your info was very helpful
Where can I find the settings for this schedule??
Thanks ! That IS a real test !
Cool to see you interacting with your tank, mate. Cool vid.

Brilliant video. Can i ask, would these settings be ok for a tank with only soft corals?
Yep
Nice and informative video. I would be interested in an update on the Evo and what upgrades and stock you have. Thanks!
Would the reading the different when the pump is on? What would the PAR be with the pump on like how it is 99% of the time?
If you have the flow on, the movement just makes the reading jump around so it's harder to read.

I always use primes. I tend to use the kelvin scale though. I like 12000-16000k at 45% myself with the moonlights at zero.
Why no moonlight? Red and green 45% too?
@@VincentQuaid101 ive since moved over to the red sea lights.

You can make it ramp down - just set it up in the schedule the same way you do in the morning
@ReefDorkXtra thanks for your help, much appreciated

Would it be possible to do a video on sump setup on this tank? There are varying opinions on how it should be done. Really enjoy the content 👍🏻
As in the rear filtration section? I'll be doing one soon ish, just need to figure out nutrients first...

It's a Fluval Evo 13.5. 2 Primes on your setup is absolutely fine.
Thank you so much
Thanks! You helped me a lot!!
Could you maybe make a link of your settings so we can download it to our light? That would be awesome!
Don't think I can on here I'm afraid
What is the powerhead you have in the tank? Also is the magnet in the back filtration?
It's a jecod slw-10. The 'dry' side magnet is in the filter section, but I've used a Tunze magnet for that part - I wasn't sure about the jecod one...

Don't think it's possible to share schedules I'm afraid 🙁
How are you getting on with the fluval evo 13.5? Would you recommend this tank?
Really like it - quite restrictive for fish choices cos it's small but it's very easy to maintain
Anyway you can send the presets? Or link them in the description?
Don't think that's possible I'm afraid :(
i have some of my blues upwards of 80% on the same tank is this too high?
As per my other message, but best way to find out is rent a par meter or buy one 2nd hand and sell it when you're done with it.

😂😂 I definitely don’t believe you will never touch that light or setting again! 😬🤣
Cool!
Awesome. Can you come check my tank. :). Can you advise what meter you are using. My LPS is getting to much light.
Seneye Reef par meter
Don't the corals need the red and green
Nope
You need at least 4 percent red and green
You not touch a light set up! Naawwww never lol
😁
Literally the first thing I thought when reef dork said that. Yeah right. Never alter them....
