Too hot to sleep is a masterpiece. A perfect album, a go to album. There’s some real depth here and burning bridges is simply mighty.

The title track is just brilliant should’ve been released as the first single then “ Desperate Dreams “ although “ She’s a Star “ is pretty great to, unfortunately the label didn’t give them hardly any promotion for that album

Survivor deep cuts is where it's at. Their albums are chock full of overlooked gems like "Children of The Night', 'I See You In Everyone', 'Runway Lights', etc. Too bad they got overshadowed by bands like Journey & Foreigner. RIP Jimi Jamison & Stephan Ellis.
Jim Peterik's band Pride of Lions (Toby Hitchcock lead vocals) is so awesome.

Before this show, would never thought that the music of Survivor would be of any interest. But the formidable UK/US trio on this episode convinced me so will be adding two or three of these albums to a playlist for an upcoming road trip. Pete, what a great move finally having a show with Simon and Steven. Really have enjoyed their separate appearances during my time with SoT but the three of you together were hilarious. Hoping there is an opportunity in the future for the three of you to do so again. Was going to give Simon top honors for his best use of "all the damn time" during the discussion but he bested that with the classic "I agree with myself here" which is hoped to be used during my next debate or discussion with a group. Thanks, gentlemen, for such a highly entertaining show and convincing viewers yet again that there is continues to be great "New-Old" music to be sought out for listening. Cheers.

Survivor is just fantastic, love all their albums!!
"First strike" by Cobra featuring Jimi Jamison and Mandy Meyer (Krokus, Asia, Katmandü) on guitars is an 80's hard rock masterpiece, just awesome!!!

"Poor Man's Son" from Premonition, I believe was the song that caught Sylvester Stallone's attention asking them to write a song for Rocky III and the rest is history. Their original version of Rockin' Into the Night (left off their 1979 debut going to .38 Special), I think sounds like a song early Kiss might do. Business-wise, it's strange they followed up a big seller like When Seconds Count with Too Hot to Sleep, can't imagine Scotti Bros. being too thrilled about the slight change of direction.

Jimi Jamison: One of "the best" Rock/Pop singers ever!!! In the last few years I've discovered his early catalog with bands like Target & Cobra. Jim is well known as a songwriter + I think Frankie is a bit overlooked as a guitarist(a perception that Survivor is just not (guitar forward). Favorite song - Poor Man's Son....Favorite album - Vital Signs:Pure 80's nostalgia & perfectly constructed melodic riffin'👍.

Vital Signs is a summer album for me. It came out in August of 1984 and had a great run through the summer of 1985. It brings back a lot of memories from my youth. I love metal music, but I also have a soft spot for well done melodic music of any genre. Especially if it is guitar based!

Jimi Jamison is one of my fave singers, that's why I have it ...
    1. Vital Signs ... such balanced nuances and, yes, the perfect pop-rock record!
    2. Too Hot To Sleep ... man, the guitars are so good, perfect accompaniment by the keys, and Jimi's best vocals.
    3. When Seconds Count ... just too many keyboards in places, Side One is so awesome though!
    4. Eye Of The Tiger ... such a great album besides having Eye Of The Tiger!
    5. Reach ... why is Jimi not singing on TWO songs--the only reason why it's not fourth!
    6. Caught In The Game ... superb opening track and their darkest album.
    7. Premonition ... hungry for success and they're almost there on this one.
    8. Survivor ... a great first album, though their sound isn't quite found yet.
All these albums are great ... all over 4 out of 5, with those top 3 being monsters!

Great show. Vital Signs is my favorite album of all time. I've gotten into the really heavy stuff, including a lot of death metal, the past couple of decades. But I've listened more to Vital Signs than anything else. I can still listen to it any time, and not skip any tracks. I prefer the Jamison stuff, but I love all of it. I've never heard Reach. I'll need to check that one out.

There was so much melodic rock I liked in the 80's - Foreigner, REO, Journey, Night Ranger, Loverboy, Eddie Money, etc. - Survivor has always slipped between the cracks for me. Love Survivor. One of my favorite bands. Premonition is #1 for me. I love the Jimi Jamison fronted albums and he is one of my favorite singers, but prefer the grittier albums from the Bickler era. Saw Jim Peteric with his first band, The Ides Of March, along with Mark Farner about a month ago in Decatur. Outside show , 44 degrees, but fantastic! Peteric has written some really great tunes and Survivor is highly underrated. Many, many deep cut gems to be uncovered!

Caught in the game is really a great song. But the best version of it i've heard is on the CD Jimi Jamison - Live at firefest with the great Tommy Denander on Guitar. They played it with so much punch and great singing. Video of it is on youtube.
    My No.1 is Vital Signs.

Great to see Pete rank Premonition as #1 it's easily my favorite as are all of the first 4 Survivors with Bickler on vocals since I've been into them heavily since getting the first Survivor s/t when it was released and like the more hard rockin' punchy sounds of the Bickler era.

I rank Survivor albums from 1 to 8 to be: 1) Vital Signs; 2) Too Hot to Sleep; 3)Caught in the Game; 4) Eye of the Tiger; 5) When Seconds Count; 6) Survivor; 7) Premonition; 8) Reach. Really love the Band. Jimi Jamison was the real deal - RIP. Jim Peterik - fantastic song writer and musician. Those two teamed up to write some great tunes. They were a band, where they all contributed to each record and performance. I play the piss out of each album. Not a bad record.
I'll second the request to rank the studio albums of The Outfield - Great Band! Under rated!

Great video guys, the three of you go very well together! Good music knowledge and laughs as well! Really pleased you`ve done Survivor they were a great band! Don`t have `Reach` so I just have a top seven -
    1. Vital Signs (been my no.2 for many years but fairly recently moved up to the top spot!)
    2. When Seconds Count - Jimi`s voice is spot on on this album not least on the title track. Simon and Steven you are correct about the first side. It`s brilliant!
    3. Eye of the Tiger - as you guys say it`s still a great album even without the title track!
    4. Caught In The Game - careful with the volume if you listen to this on headphones. The title track comes in very fast and very loud!
    5. Survivor - amazed this wasn`t a bigger seller, especially in the USA with tracks such as `Somewhere In America`? Not to mention the front cover. Ahem..
    6. Premonition (a strong album for no.6!)
    7. Too Hot To Sleep - as much as I love Jimi Jamison this album just never clicked for me. Maybe one day...

Excellent show. Not seen Simon before but he’s your typical phlegmatic northerner! Steven is brilliant as usual.
As Steven says, Survivor did very little in the UK and I actually only own two Survivor albums: Eye of the Tiger and Premonitions (on cassette). I consider the latter to be a fantastic album with some amazing songs especially Take you on a Saturday, my favourite Survivor song. I will be checking out the rest of the catalogue based on this programmes recommendations.
