As a Maharashtrian, I agree that there is an impact of migration. It’s due to flawed policies of the politicians of Bihar state. Apart from south India, even in Maharashtra, Hindi is seen the way it is seen in south India, though the scale is not that much. We always thought that Hindi is from the Hindi belt and is ruining local language and culture. Little did I know that infact Hindi ruined other language of this Hindi belt! Thanks for another informative video mohak!
As a Maharashtrian you should know there is difference between your own Marathi language and some dialect is considered as "pure" and others are mocked upon. You should also know how the Pune centred state board has been slowly killing the other "ashudda" dialects from Vidarbha and Marathwada and enforcing their own version of Marathi in these parts.
I grew up in Maharashtra , Mumbai I faced a discrimination and harrsment by Marathi people . Unlike other country trade capital Mumbai is stucked in state politics of Maharashtra . As Mumbai has much higher Hdi , unfortunately a politician from Mumbai have to talk about Marathi farmers , instead doing metropolitan politics . Maharashtra steals the taxes of Mumbai and didn't invested it back . Mumbai is special economy region , but not self administered or full state like Shanghai , Newyork , Tokyo, etc . I asked this question to former IAS officer Jagannath murty , he told Mumbai or BMC , has it own tax collecting system , etc . But further decentralisation of special region , is needed as Mumbai need a special administrative region , not just special economy region by Central government . He too told me output and input of taxes , etc are rigid in Mumbai , compare to that of Shanghai , Newyork , Tokyo . He told me that Mumbai give more taxes to Maharashtra and get lesser taxes back , inshort Mumbai is trapped in politics .

Very true. We have lost our glory of Magadha (Bihar) because of Hindi language. Hindi is just a replica of urdu language. The day Urdu / Hindi came to Bihar. We all Biharis lost our identity. The South Indians, unlike Marathis, Gujarathis and Punjabis, didnot allow Hindi to overwhelm their languages. All the South Indian states have vibrant film industries. There is a saying about Tamils, "You can take a Tamil out of Tamil Nadu but you can never take the Tamil out of him. I still remember how sad I felt when few years ago I came to know that my ancetral language was Bajjika and being a third generation migrant bihari, I had no idea how to speak it, neither did anyone in my family new of such a language. People in my family have a vague idea of 'bhojpuri' being the mother tongue of all bihari, (thanks to popular Bollywood stereotypes). I've had the fortunate experience of visiting my ancestral village only once in my life and I found that even there people were not aware that there language was called Bajjika, which carries the great cultural heritage of being the language of the Lichhavi Republic. The decent of the language in which Mahavira spoke, the language in which Amrapali spoke, the language of the Gupta queen. There is great cultural stigma associated with speaking the native languages of bihar. Primarily because of two reasons 1) these languages being classified as a 'dialect' of hindi, hence people think that they are basically speaking bad hindi. 2) the popular stereotyping of these languages as being spoken by uneducated uncultured people. That is the reason why migrant Biharis never want their children to speak these languages and hence hindi has replaced these languages even at home, of all migrant bihari families and even in Bihar itself people prefer to talk among each other's in Hindi to show that they are educated. The only region that has maintained some linguistic conciousness is Mithila. All the folk songs that are sung during marriages, birth rituals, pujas, etc are rapidly getting lost. My grandmother was the last one who remembered some of these folk songs, and used to sing them during pujas alone. Now no one does. Bihar itself does not recognize these languages as official language of the state. Even big politicians never give their speeches in the local languages. And biharis are not realizing the kind of cultural and linguistic devastation that they are doing to themselves. This devastation is almost complete in all "educated" migrant families and it is at its peak in Bihari homes itself, radiating from urban centers to villages now.
I'm a bihari and since childhood my parents never encouraged me to learn the local languages and we speak hindi at home. I wish these local languages were given more preference.
If u consider Bajjika and Angika, a separate language, not Maithili. Then u are itself promoting Hindi in Bihar because these two words where bought in 1954 by a Hindi writer of Bhojpuri speaking region, on Mahajanpad basis, to strong Hindi and weaken Maithili, because at that time Maithili was too strong in Bihar. Before 1954, there was no any words like this. And now see the position of Hindi in Bihar.

It's not so easy. There are no schools teaching these languages nor any official or formal work happening. Only Hindi is used for educational and official purposes in all over North India. Consequently Hindi comes to be seen as the language of the educated and other languages remain used only among the less educated and rural folks. The Government of India has consciously created an ecosystem that would incentivise Hindi at the expense of other languages. Hindi colonisation is real and insidious.

The Tamil in him dies only when he dies". There are third and fourth generation Tamils in Malaysia, Singapore and Lanka who are bilingual /trilingual but speak only Tamil at home. Jai magahi
@@ashi5276 Even the Bihar government doesn't recognize any of these languages as official languages.
