- Willie, Sarah and their pup, Jack Spaniels continue their biggest adventure yet - leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to 'Live The Skye Life'!

We thought finding and successfully buying a house would be the difficult part, but we didn't expect such difficulty when it came to selling our current house in Fife...did we pick the worst time to move house?!

Hi, How do you get Electric ? How is your home heated ?
We are connected to the grid for electricity and we have oil fired heating. We are looking into alternatives for both as I type.
Don't worry about not having things to do up here: you'll soon have about 100 'Projects' on the go! Building a nice wood store, improving drainage, building sheds, landscaping, house improvements, you'll probably buy a boat and spend hours doing it up. Welcome to my life!
Ahahaha yeah we are finding that out! Our to-do list is already a mile long…I’d love to put on my own exhibition of my paintings here on Skye though 😊 Sarah x
@@livingtheskyelife For sure! My neighbor across the road is 'The Gallery' on Raasay and they do small scale guest exhibits, as do a few places on Skye I think. You could exhibit all over the place! Batten down the hatches for Tuesday; more weather.

You will be wanting to get your own hens, and a bit of garden, too, and hens are so silly it takes a bit if time not only caring for them but watching their silly antics.

My father was from Aberdeen but his job took him to South America (Peru) where I was born. Every vacation we would go back to the UK and the first place we’d go to was Scotland, stopping at the “Scotland” sign for him to stop the car in order to fill his lungs with obviously the better air over the border. He taught me so much about his beloved home and the people. It wasn’t hard to fall in love with both. Now, at 70 I still return whenever I can even though I live in Florida. Our house even has a Scottish name which the postman still can’t pronounce! Good luck to you both and enjoy a wee dram of the gift the sellers left you. Slange Var! 🎈👏👏 xxx

No 'v' in Gaelic alphabet - 'mh' or 'bh' is pronounced 'v'.
You two are much more fun than most channels! With all the trials and troubles in the world you are a breath of fresh air. Hopefully Skye will be all you hope for. It certainly has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Having Jack along for your adventure doesn’t hurt, he is precious!

I am 70 and I still sing this song! It struck a deep chord in me😍
We use to sing that when i was at school in singing lessons. I sang with gusto but i still can't sing. Its a beautiful song bug always brings a tear to my eyes. 🎅🏻

@@livingtheskyelife I'm old hand have many health issues so I'm not so sure NHS or the UK would want me. Though I won't be taking someone's job and I would be spending money in the economy. I would love it. I only was able to go to the southern tip of Skye, probably near where you live, and it was stunning.
I live in Poland, visited California in 2018 and Skye this year, both stunning. But if I would have to choose, Skye it is! Except for the food, that really sucks in Highlands and Skye, didn't find a decent restaurant for ten straight days and in terms of food in Scotland I lost hope.
@@kategoya7230 Sorry to hear you couldn't match the quality of the food with the quality of the landscape. There's a great video by One Armed Chef about food in the more remote parts of Scotland and it gives a very different view, so maybe it's more a case of you need to know where beforehand, would definitely recommend it to watch. It's a great series in general and Giles is a truly delightful person

The view from Sligachan is tattooed on my arm, I’ve spent more time on the isle than I can remember but I’m living vicariously through you guys. Everyone wants to do what you are doing. When I was 11, my family made a similar move from the San Francisco Bay Area to a beautiful property out in the boonies of Oregon. This really evokes a lot for me and it’s absolutely a delight. I look forward to to every video. By the way, we had the sweetest spring water out there but the house had to be completely rebuilt by my dad, who wondered who held the roof up while they built the house under it. Now I live in a house close into downtown Portland, you can take the girl out of the city…. But, we have a large lot with huge trees so it’s a bit of both worlds. Wishing you three the best!

Sarah thank you for taking us on your adventure to the art show. I have never heard of this artist, but I am now totally enamored with his paintings. Many of my ancestor's arrived in America from the Isle of Sky and the Scottish Highlands. Being able to see where they came from is a real treat for me. I am totally in love with your new cottage and the location, so beautiful. The natural wood work is quite beautiful and lends a warmth to the cottage.

I think Vettriano's paintings are so full of atmosphere and beauty, unlike other artists today. For years most so called art experts have put his work down, ha have they made fools of themselves, because his works are far more appreciated by the public at large.
I like the wood inside the cottage, it gives a nice natural feel. Remember once you paint over the wood, you will have to repaint it forever, or as long as you live there. The architrave around the windows and doors looks wonderful, don't hide it.
So stunning, I wish you every happiness in that beautiful cottage. Subscribed, so glad your doggo has got such a nice little nook in your new home.

What a super dog you have there with Jack, and he is soooo loved. Loved him doing his zoomies! I have a five year old, beautiful black rescue Greyhound, called Madge (her racing name from Poole racetrack, was Devils Magic) and I have had her now for 3 years. Such a long way for you guys to drive, to your new home, and such fantastic scenery. Jack seems so happy to be in your new home, with you two, his loving people! It is stunning - the property, and the surroundings, just beautiful. It is so lovely that you have your own water supply, I have owned two homes in Devon where we had the same, and I do not drink tap water now, as I am now on mains! Nothing beats your own water. I love your home, and the views from it are stunning. Jack Spaniels is going to love it there soooo much with your two, and all that water to have fun in! How you managed to keep him out of the water at Strath Mashie (?hope I spelled that right?) is a miracle considering how much he loves to get wet! I loved seeing the wild horses on Skye.
Here in my home state of North Carolina, on the Outer Banks, we have wild ponies that are ancestors of horses that survived the numerous shipwrecks caused by the shifting sandbars and tides off our coastline - nicknamed the Graveyard of the Atlantic.

I think to leave the wood panels as they are, it adds such a warmth and cosiness to the cottage. Also the kitchen is lovely. The handles on the kitchen cupboards remind me a bit of Celtic knots, do not know why. I can relate with you about moving and packing in a short time. I have moved many times across the oceans and the last one was from the Netherlands to the UK in 8 weeks and had to pack up 22 years of stuff in that time and a lot went to charity and it is just amazing at how much you collect. I was still cleaning, painting and scrubbing on our last night in our house, I was totally exhausted.
