Broke the radio cuz you didn’t mention the 10mm bolt, great tutorial
Remove the glove box and you will find this 10 mm bolt. Need a socket and about a 4" extension.
These instructions worked very well, EXCEPT that with my 2004 Mazda 6 there's a 10 mm security bolt that needs to be removed via the glove box, just like other commenters have mentioned. That's pretty easy, though. Just open the glove box, push together the sides to gain access, unclip the string that holds the glove box, and access to the security bolt to the far left. It's a tight working space but it doesn't take long.

There's a support bolt in the glovebox. That you have to remove or you will break the radio

have you ever seen one get stuck. the panel for the stereo wont pop on right side and slide up.
even stereo guys at Mazda could not get it out.

You should probably redo this video or put in a comment about the 10mm bolt you failed to mention.. if you pry too hard on the HU you can disturb or damage the LCD connection between the faceplate and stereo causing the LCD display to stop working correctly. This happened to me after watching this vid and attempting to do the removal without addressing said bolt.

Great instructional video. I'm not mechanically inclined and was more than a little reluctant to try this but it worked pretty much exactly as described in the video. I was more concerned about getting everything back together once I had pulled it apart, but it was no problemo. Thanks for the help and a great video!!!

Theres definitely a a bolt you have to remove behind the radio via the glovebox. I just did mine. luckily i did more research.

There is also a screw which you have to remove from the inside of the glove compartment if not u are not able to remove the dash

Thanks Dumbass you didn't mention removing the glove box and the 10mm bolt holding the radio in. I now have a cracked circuit board trying to pull off the panel.

I don't know if your model doesn't have the side screw but the 03 model I worked on has a side screw that makes it impossible to remove with out first removing that screw....

this is awesome. what about the 10mm bolt on the right side of the radio that you need to take the glovebox out to access? is that not present on the 2005?
You didn't mention the bolt at the back anchoring the radio. Accessible by removing the glove compartment.
Is that a bolt or screw? I am not able to see much from inside the glove box (which I fully removed), except a bolt that appears really high up. Is this bolt/screw that you refer to high or low?
Newlander it sounds like you are looking at the correct bolt. If you don't remove that, you won't be able to remove the front panel. See the picture. [i195.photobucket.com/albums/z257/jdolluc/Axxess%20iPod%20kit/P8280042.jpg] The bolt attaches to the bracket just above the wiring connector in the photo. But the picture in the link looks like it's for a left-hand drive car. Regardless of what side you drive, the bolt will always be on the same side as the glove box.

You don't cover the bolt inside the dash that secures the unit in place. I tried it your way and broke the circuit board. This safety bolt is accessible through the glove box. I really don't know how you made it look so easy. This has caused me much distress just trying to find a match to fix it.

my mazda 6 2003 has a different AC wire that I can seem to figure out how to remove. Unlike the video there is one clip and then the wire.
I have a Sony MEX-BT3900U stereo I really want to install to my mazda 6 2005 but i'm just scared to mess it up. Does anyone know what facia's are best to use for this car and recommendations to whether changing the stereo to the aforementioned will affect the steering wheel control vol up/down and track/ch.

just so everybody knows there are several videos about this stereo removal some show more than others .
this guy forgot a very critical detail and following his direction will cause more damage to your components , so please watch as many videos as possible before you attent this removal.... or you will be crying like everyone else on this feed.
This video needs to be taken down or updated, I have yet another case of accidentally breaking my unit trying to just pop it out like you did in the video, due to your failure to mention the bolt behind the glove box. I was attempting to install an Auxmod unit on the back of the stereo, and now not only is that useless until I can eventually replace this for whatever obscene amount mazda asks for, but due to the bit that broke, the LCD display doesn't work either.

Removal process for the factory stereo, yes. Installation of aftermarket, do your research.

I have a friend with a Mazda 6 of 2003. Can you tell me if there is a way to get rid of it(the sound system I mean, not the car) and install a mask for common ISO 1 sound systems(Greek standard)? Will I need any special thingies, except for the electrical harnesses and adaptors that I will obviously need?

THEY FORGET TO TELL YOU THAT THERE IS A SCREW YOU HAVE TO TAKE OUT ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE THAT YOU ACCESS FROM THE GLOVE BOX COMPARTMENT AREA.

Delete this video. You failed to mention the 10mm in the glovebix. Broke my radio.
You should delete and remake this video. Mobile TH-cam does not show the box overlay showing the warning. You really must mention the glove box bolt and possible screws under the climate controls. My climate controls circuit board also broke.
Again. Mobile TH-cam does not show comments and box overlays, so that doesn't fix the problem, or my circuit board.
