I've been wanting to attempt fixing my display for a long long time. It's been screwy for 4 or 5 years now. I spent a lot of time tearing my dash apart today, getting this display out, disassembling the display, and setting up a work station at my kitchen table so I could view the solder points under a magnifying glass to re-solder all the pins on the circuit board. I did some work on some other items on my stereo while I had it out (added a Sylfex AuxMod to the head unit which did not work) and after all the time spent, upon re-assembly the display was still missing lines and acting random like before. Turns out it wasn't the circuit board solder inegrity that is the problem, it's the connections of those leads to the LCD itself (under the metal frame) that make intermittent contact with the LCD screen. I can cause them to react differently by gently pressing on the top of the display above the missing graphics, and with just the right positioning and pressure I can get everything to look right. I can see I wasted a lot of time trying to fix something that is likley beyond hope.

What did you end up doing with the display? I've reflowed the solder on the circuit board a couple times, but the problem comes back.

Would've been cool if you filmed in high def full screen, and if you filmed actual soldering
    =/

Can anyone tell me what is the type of film used over the display? Due to extreme heat weather my Mazda 6 paper film is damaged over the screen. How to fix that?

The issue I'm having with my 2005 Mazda 6 is once I turn my head lights on that unit you've shown in the video goes blank (black). what would cause that?

Look for the grounding point on the chassis that is below the main fuse box in the engine compartment. Mine was heavily corroded causing my wipers and hazzards to turn on when I turned on my lights (mostly when the fig lights were on). I had to replace the existing connector to the chassis with 2 new eyelet crimps with the 4 groudn wires attached. No more problem. Ground wires are a pain in the butt with older cars.

I've been having the issue with my monitor for two years now and it's gotten to the point where really can't read anything on it anymore. Just called the dealership to find out how much that part cost... Used to be just over $100... Now it's fucking over $400!! It's also about to be obsolete since there's only a few left in the whole country. Now I got to spend $500 to get that shit fixed

What a freaking waste of time. 90 percent of video is watching unscrew?
