    Wow! I have been looking for something like for my laptop forever. I have a Hp 15 ec1073dx. I just want to add a 500gb ssd i have from an old build of mine. Seeing an official guide from HP is really really refreshing! These kind of things should get more views instead of the random people that upload. Might i suggest rewording the title such that it includes the different HP laptop names so that it could appear more frequently in searches?

    This is awesome! This is shockingly consumer friendly, HP. You are the only OEM to not only readily publish service manuals, but create videos for servicing your machines. Thank you! Out of curiosity: I have a Pavilion gaming laptop (15-ec2021nr) and wish to replace my wifi card. Do these models have any sort of whitelist for acceptable hardware? I assume as long as it's the correct form factor, in theory, it should work?

    useful video, guys. But i must to admit that my laptop with same name and 10300h works properly only when i disable turboboost. I think that is the way it must work. Cooling system is very weak for 8 cores on 4.5gHz. How did you not think of this before? Or it was a bad generation of processors?

    Does both fans cools the same components or each fan is labeled for either the CPU or the GPU ?
    Also while under 45, only one fan is cooling the laptop while above 50 both fans work together , is that normal ?

    So is there two versions of the monitor screen? I see 1080 at I think 60 and 144hz? Is there a difference in the installation, where connecters go, etc?

    Most of the newer HP notebooks such as yours do not have a CMOS battery.
    The internal battery maintains the clock and BIOS settings.
    Below is the link to the service manual for your model series, and as you can see...no RTC (CMOS) battery is listed and nor is there a procedure to remove and replace the RTC battery: bit.ly/2UTl956

    I have the HP Pavilion 15-ec0751ms Gaming Laptop. Where is the CMOS Battery located in this laptop?

      +John Faulkner Checked the specifcation and found that your notebook does not have a CMOS/RTC battery. There is no mention of one in the service manual's parts list.

    I have a question. how much RAM can you put inside this laptop?
    Cause if i check the website it says MAX supported RAM is 16 GB
    But if i go into my cmd promp and type the following command: "wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices"
    It says i can put 32GB into with 2 different SODIMMS sticks.
    How can i find RAM that can fit into my laptop? is there anything else i need to check for.
    Currently there is 16GB of 3200 Mhz inside my laptop can i upgrade this to 32GB 3200Mhz? or not?

The fan is making weird noise when used in different possition, when placed in stand there is no noise, i think the bearing is fault.     My 15ec-1024ax taking too long to boot. At first the power button lights up, then nothing happens for about 40 seconds, then the hp logo appears and then the OS loads. Every operation in the OS is speedy and fluid. Task manager shows 35+ seconds of BIOS time. Can you tell me what is wrong and how can I solve it?

      I install the updates on a regular basis and currently there are no pending updates. I have also tried full system restore using full system wipe and formatting all the partitions. The problem still exists. Even after performing a full system scan in microsoft security. The bios is extremely slow.

    I bought the same laptop, it is heating under the right side Pam rest, sometimes temperature reaches 60+ on the pamrest and makes it difficult to type with right hand,

      If I repast with new thermal paste, will it resolve the problem? I can't figure out even SSD is over heating and making the System OS currupt for every month. I am really unhappy with the purchase and I am never buying HP again thanks for all the lessons.

    I have a HP Pavilion ec2004ax, it started overheating while gaming after a BIOS Update, it did not do that before. Is there any way to downgrade bios, if not can you guys update the bios that fixes this problem?

    How in the _blue blazes_ is it so utterly impossible for me to find _any_ guidance on how to remove the adhesion between the M.2 drive and this metal _piece_ covering it, EVEN ON HP’S OWN TEARDOWN VIDEO?! My white whale of finally upgrading my 15-ec0013dx, the last step, and seemingly no other human being online has ever broached the task.
