Did you ever manage to gain access to the Ivy's cellars to see if there was any alignment?
if the room is about half the width of the street then perhaps the 2 premises walled it up equidistant from both?
I wish I could remember what it was but a few years back I paced around that area as a troglodyte fan looking for signs of the tunnels on the surface as I believe there are some at the location of the Town hall and I came to the conclusion that there were some around blue boar street and in particular at the Bear. I had no idea at the time about the mitre but I saw your video and looked on streetmaps and the 2 are within line of sight.
It might be worth a visit to their cellar.
Also beyond that is a wall and door into Christ Church college & library. if Monks were a part of its history at that time (and by the name a historical search must prove they were), my conclusion would be that the tunnel led from the Mitre which they used perhaps as rented accommodation or with those arches in the beer cellar maybe a refectory, along the line of the street, back to Christchurch.
Just a hunch, but maybe worth a bit of research. 😉
oh and there is a manhole cover by the bear in the middle of the cobbles..just saying 😉😆
    keep me posted!

How did you get down there, and did you need permission? Or is there an alternative way down?
