      I have an older F-150, no auto start stop, Needed to put my truck in for a tune up that was going to take most of the day, so I decided to Rent a late model F-150 to see what the difference is. One big difference was that stupid auto start stop.
      Thing about scared me to death when I rolled backwards on a hill before the engine came back to life.

    If Nissan would actually update the Frontier might bring there sales up

    • @dewrus2153
      @dewrus2153 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @Venomous Carnage -Exactly. I talked to a Nissan rep a few years ago and he said Nissan was planning to drop the Frontier because it was aging and sales were sagging. But then, Ford dropped the Ranger and the only small trucks were GM which were actually bigger than the old S-10's. Then Ford redesigned the Ranger and it too was larger. So, the Frontier became the only game in town if you wanted a small truck at a decent price. Even though it's platform is going on two decades old...it still sells...a lot! However, if you want one...go get it soon. It's getting redesigned for 2021 and it's gonna be bigger and more expensive just like the Canyon, Ranger, etc.

      @@Bru946 - I think it's because it's the last affordable basic truck...and that is what a lot of people really want. The new Rangers, Canyons, and Tacomas are really nice...but they're packed full of tech and other features that many don't need or want to pay for. Frontier fills that gap and they have the corner on that market for those particular customers.

    Traded my 2018 f150 for a titan xd cummins. Why? 1. The interior of my f150 was trash, massive panel gaps, fitment issues AND the dash warped, but not bad enough to be replaced (on a 50k truck, really??? It looked nice for a few months and began falling apart) 2. Throttle body whistle between 1500-2500rpm. Was told this would go away, when it never did was offered a TB replacement 3. 5.0 burned 1qt of oil every 1500 miles, not QUITE bad enough for a block replacement (per the tsb for oil burn) 4. The 10spd screamed like a dying cat a low speeds when it changed gears. was told it was "normal" and the trans just made noises.
    I've owned 2 f150s and the quality of the newer trucks is terrible. The titan xd is overbuilt for its intended use and I can trust it'll hold up better to normal 1/2ton use than a 1/2 ton that started dying before I even began towing with it.
    ps. Since dealers are desperate to sell off the cummins, 14k off the sticker of an SL 4x4 crew cab cummins. 5yr/100k warranty, which gives you peace of mind at least you wont pay for anything for a long time.

    I was a valet for a while in college, I really liked Nissan Titans and the XD seemed perfect. Its footprint wasn't much bigger than the normal Titan but with added power. It turned well, and could fit in our spots with ease. The owner said he didn't need a 3/4 ton and could go up in trim on the Nissan XD vs a lower trim Ford,Chevy,Ram with more capability. I thought the Titan line of trucks were great for the money.

    Hey Andre, the tires on the Pro-4x are in fact 33s.
    P275/70r18, which General specifically made just for Nissan so that it could run a 33 in a P metric tire. The Duratracs on Rebel / Trail Boss /AT4 are all heavy E range tires, as are most every tire on the market that size or larger.
    So it’s actually very cool & I want to make sure Nissan is lauded for doing this, not panned, since E range is ludicrous for a daily driven half ton (nevertheless, I run E range Duratracs on my F150, not by choice but because that’s all that are available in the desired size).

    I have a bad feeling the defeat of the 2020 Nissan Titan is going to be its price point. It's been the most economic half ton available for a decade, but the trend of automakers cramming technology crap into their trucks and charging $50,000 isn't going to end anytime soon. I'm betting these will be at least 7% more than the 2019s.

    • @guyletourneau6167

    I bought a Titan truck new in 2003, a 2004 model. They had just come on the market. Someone I knew let me drive a test model from their test mule fleet in Arizona, before they sold them to the public. He told me that Nissan was going to crush that truck because it was a test mule. It was a very innovative truck for 2004, so I bought one, but I wore it out after 250k miles. It was the first truck that I ever bought new, with an automatic transmission. I'm one of those "weirdos" that still wants a manual transmission. Someone told about 1 million miles ago, that I'd get tired of driving a manual transmission, not so for me, so no more Titan trucks for me. I think that they lost their innovation edge, and I'm still not impressed with the styling. Now if they did a retro look of the smaller 620 (bullet side) truck that was on the market from 1972.5-1979, that would be a head turner !! Thanks again for another comprehensive test. I hope that the manufactures continue to pay attention to what you guys are doing, you, and your testing are that good !!

    I've never driven one. It seems fine I guess. If somebody gave me one as a work truck, I don't think I would be unhappy. But, when I was looking for a new truck in 2018, I simply did not consider the Titan. Why? I don't even really know. I guess I think the front end is a little ugly perhaps. In 2018/19 it was getting a little stale too. I think it's good that Nissan bothered to refresh the truck, otherwise, maybe nobody at all would have bought them in 2020.

I bought a '19 King Cab S trim truck with the rear seat delete option and none of the other manufacturers could even come close to what I got for $29k. If you are looking for a truck that you will use as a truck, then Nissan can't be beat.

  • @dewrus2153
    @dewrus2153 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Am I the only one that is a bit disappointed in the payload and towing capacity? I've got a 15 year old F-150 that is rated for more...and mine is a 4x4 model that is lower than a comparable F-150 that is just 2wd. This is a nice truck but it's lacking. A 2019 F-150 with a 3.3 naturally aspirated base engine can tow 7,700lbs and haul 1,990lbs of payload. The best equipped F-150 can tow over 13,000lbs. I know Chevy and Ram can also tow and haul a lot. 2020 Titan looks nice but it seems way behind the others. I hear it just got Apple Car Play this year...something the competition has had for years. I think the Frontier is still the best bang for the buck when it comes to Nissan. Frontier is a nice basic small truck that can still be had with a manual gearbox and it won't break the bank.

    • @ITrustInDog
      @ITrustInDog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. The number feels arbitrary as it doesn't change across body styles much). They appear to be pushing those that need more than 9,000 of towing capacity to the XD lineup. This isn't a bad idea as the XD will feel much more confident and planted than any 1/2 ton out there but then you need to sacrifice fuel efficiency to have the larger towing numbers.
      They should just post the maximum numbers for the 1/2 ton and let the consumer make the choice of better towing feel (because they tow all the time) vs the guy that tows a travel trailer 5 times a year but wants a more efficient daily driver.
