    I’ve owned 2 off-road edition Titans, an 04 and a 12, one crew cab, one was extended cab. Both ultra reliable trucks that handled great, were fun to drive off road, and had all the power you ever really needed. Only down fall- 14 mpg average on daily commute and 17 best MPG. My 2.7 eco boost might not be the manliest engine but 22 mpg on a daily basis with great towing power for the few times a year you need it are hard to beat. Even if it sounds like my moms old Aerostar 😂.

    It seems like an “Old School truck” but newer. It seems like it might be able to take more abuse than some of the other newer trucks on the market today. It doesn’t need a luxurious interior or massaging seats, why? Because it’s a truck. It has no giant chins to get in the way or aero gadgets to break, or weird tailgates, or electric motors or batteries to worry about replacing. No black magic and voodoo cylinder deactivation crap to fail. It’s just a truck built to be used and abused and always ready for what’s around the corner. If I were Nissan I would only offer this truck in three colors....Red, White or Blue.

      You know what ,I was on the fence about a 2020 and above compared to a 1st gen Titan. After everything considered and praying to make the right decision, I was blessed to get another 1st generation in great condition. It's a 13 LE 4X4 with 40,000 miles on it. It has everything that I wanted except 3rd generation Platinum Reserve seats. It's different In a lot of ways from my 08 SE. I'm starting to get to know it a lot more and I like it a lot. But it still has to last as long as my 08 and give me no problems.

    Seems Nissan and Toyota are always a step or two behind on the tech and innovation side, but sometimes that's a plus. As a truck guy, I dont give a shit about fluffy bullshit color displays, screens, push button start, turbos, aluminium, exotic alloys, cylinder deactivation etc etc. I just want stuff to work and I want stuff to last. The Titan and Tundra are the only two trucks I would even consider when buying new

    Another great video.
    My XD has 50,000km on it and running stronger than ever. Towing my 32’ TT with ease. Now sure gas ratings are not the best but when I’m cruising down the highway in heavy cross wind or a semi goes flying by I’m not fighting to keep everything straight. The weight of the truck definitely makes for a smoother ride.
    Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

    I love all trucks and if i had it my way id have the best in class on all categories. Unfortunately i can only afford one truck. When i was in the market for a new truck i wanted a versatile truck that was reliable, cost effective, and had a lot of storage. I also wanted a truck that would last after 15 yrs and still look good. I choose a ‘17 Titan 1/2 ton 4x4 and have approx 20k miles on it so far. 90% of the time i use it as a minivan running the kids around town, or hauling Costco loads and once in a while a load of lumber for a small building project, and more often than not im parallel parking downtown for dinner and drinks. The other 8% of the time we are traveling, towing the camper. Ive put 2k miles towing a 28ft 8500 lb loaded down travel trailer and my family of 5, bikes, yeti coolers and everything else. Plenty of power. It seems to like 71 mph locked in 4th or 5th gear and i get 7-9 mph depending on headwind. Final 2% of the time ill play off road and run through the fields on pheasant hunt. No issues getting stuck yet. The Titan really does well with everything ive asked of it. Although it wont win a single category, its versatile enough to place well in all categories. So far i am very happy with my decision. Where i live, we get snow, and rust tends to be the norm after 8 years, especially on the gm products and Chryslers. Toyotas have had an issue with frame rust. Ford really figured it out with Aluminum body’s but were too $$. Looking at the older titans, they seemed to show no signs on rust after 8 yrs. A big plus for Nissan. My fav unexpected feature is the behind the seat storage. Ive got tools, hitches, straps, tow ropes, blankets, small shovel, ice scraper, rain coat, and even my baseball bat and glove, and fishing rod and tackle all tucked away neatly behind the seat. Under the seat offers even more room. Are any other brands offering this? Seats are also incredible.

    • @chadsteele1
      @chadsteele1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like exactly why I have mine, plus all that storage bihind the seats. If ppl weren't so brainwashed into domestic this domestic that, they'd realize this is a sold capable truck. When I bought mine, I really wanted the Gm in my driveway, but when it came down to it, it fell short in a few areas, power, storage and out of the box ride height. The ugly, No apply carplay, and really hard to find level/lift kits (3") nothing grand. I love my truck and for me, I am happy with it.

    I have a 2017 Titan SL, crew cab, 5.6 V8, premium wheels, Titan sidesteps, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor, navigation, backup camera, 360 camera, premium audio, leather, power seats, heated seats, power sliding rear window, cargo management, bed cargo management, bed liner, in bed lighting, LED lighting all around, towing package... and I’m sure I’m forgetting more... paid $36k brand new!
    And oh yeah, Nissan includes a 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty just for kicks.
    I don’t know what other truck can compete with that. And in San Antonio Tx, that’s a pretty normal deal.
    What I don’t get with that package was 4x4, sunroof, and air conditioned seats. I believe if I was to get the Platinum reserve I could get 4x4 and air conditioned seats but that would have brought the price up to $42-$44k. Next time though, next time.

      I am not trying to start a flame war, but how do you explain all the Chinese sourced suspension parts under the front? Globalism is here and all the trucks have content sourced from all over the world. Even the my 1991 and my 1992 Jeep (XJ) Cherokees had at least 20% of their parts sourced from Mexico so this trend is not new and it is not going away anytime soon. But credit needs to be given that the Titan is not like the Crew Cab GM half ton trucks that are assembled in Mexico.
      And I hate to say this, but the Ford F150 had the most US sourced content in 2018 for the half ton trucks. eu.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2018/06/22/american-cars/724724002/

      For example, using the 4.30:1 rear end for the Tundra, the 1st gear ratio spec of 3.33:1 results in a final ratio of 14.32:1 (rear ratio x gear ratio), and 6th gear of 0.59 results in a final ratio of 2.54 to the wheels. For the Titan, the rear axle ratio is much lower at 2.94:1, but the 1st gear ratio is a 4.89:1 resulting in a final ratio of 14.38:1. Titan's 7th gear is a 0.77:1, resulting in a final ratio of 2.26:1 (lower hwy rpm in top gear). Titan's 6th gear is 0.86:1, resulting in a 2.53:1 final gear ratio, similar to Tundra's 6th gear. If the tire diameters are the same, the Titan would end up with better 1st gear gearing (numerically higher), though only very slightly.

    I used to really like your Channel but now it's starting to go by what the manufacturer gives you like for instance a long-term tester so now you're inclined to say nothing but good things about a truck that's old school in technology and just all-around your videos used to be non bias but now I think that is starting to change sorry to say it but I think it's true I think your abilities to give Real World non-biased reviews is gone now

  • @aristein88
    @aristein88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I sense that you are making the truck out to be more than it is (certainly more than it looks like it is) to encourage the big 3 to give you a "long-term truck". You focused way too much on the positive and downplayed the negatives too much for me not to believe there isn't some bias motivation influencing this one. In the hyper-competitive truck market, the details (positive and negative) matter. And, you made a lot more of the positives of a truck that really does nothing the best, and downplayed the negatives for a truck that has some pretty significant negatives.
    Anyway, I am not saying it isn't a good truck alone by itself. I am just saying in comparison, it isn't great. For what this truck costs, you can get better.

    • @Viewsfromhere
      @Viewsfromhere 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Incorrect. The Titan is on par with dodge in being the lowest priced truck on the market. And the Titan comes with a 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty from the factory.
      Tundra, Chevy and ford are the most expensive... and Titan comes standard with the 5.6 V8 which would of course be an upgrade with any other brand of truck. People don’t buy V6 trucks from the other manufacturers because that’s what they wanted, they buy them because they couldn’t afford to get the V8.
      Btw the standard V6 engines from the other “amazing manufactures” significantly reduces their towing capabilities and long term reliability and trade in value so have fun with that down the road.

    • @aristein88
      @aristein88 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cg9608 Well, I pointed out the first....not being the best at anything. But some other obvious ones. The economy car interior. Sure, they make it bigger, upgraded the seats and door panels, and even some of the materials. But the interior still looks cheap and dated like an economy car. Some may try to stand on "it's a truck". Yea, but it cost over $50k. For that kind of money, for a average performing light duty truck, an economy car interior is not competitive.
      Then there is the fact that Nissan is a smaller (foreign) company that make very few trucks. Smaller research dollar, less testing, etc. That, as a practical matter, relegates them to being followers trying to (at best) carve out a niche. You are never going to get "the best truck" with Nissan. Nor are you going to have as much access to parts, options, accessories, etc. as domestic trucks.
      People get all bent out of shape like I am calling it a piece of shit. It may be a good truck. But, as I said, in the hyper-competitive truck market, it is not going to be the best truck you can get for your dollar.

  • @crazyhass84
    @crazyhass84 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Its yellow! It's made by a company that only sells a few trucks per year. It takes lots of $$$ to develop perfect trucks. I will never buy a nissan or Toyota truck for that reason. They have no choice but to cut corner. Project management 101.
    I normally rent rams for my work. A few times I didn't make my rental in time and got stuck with a titan. Omg what a POS! The transmission shifting is horrible, interior was from 2005. Lights sucked. Suspension was so bouncy 1980s buick roadmaster seems stiff.

    I am not sure what the axle ratio is on the Pro4X, But the axle ratio on the regular Titan (gas engine) is a pitiful 2.93! That is awful. The reason the trans wants to stay in 4th gear and the engine is singing along at 4000 RPM is it is fighting that ultra high axle ratio. This would tow so much better with the 3.31 axle they have as standard equipment on the NV3500 Van. Even better would be a 3.55 or 3.73 ratio. If Nissan is serious about wanting to capture more of the pickup truck market they need to offer an optional axle ratio choice. I test drove a 2018 King Cab 2WD with tow package and really liked the truck. The axle ratio scared me off. Great engine and great transmission strangled by 2.93 axle. Nissan, are you listening?
