Hey Justin! Congratulations on having your grail on the wrist. I hope it'll bring you as much satisfaction as the hunt for it. The revived ALS produces some incredible watches. I'm yet to experience one in my hands. I appreciate the high-end watchmaking but it's out of reach. What is great though is that A. Lagne's legacy continues in all watches manufactured in Glashutte/SA today, especially in Glashutte Original (GO), a direct descendant of the ALS. I would love to add a watch from Glashutte to my collection one day.
Great watch, congratulations, Justin! An original and interesting version of this iconic model. The only thing about the Lange 1, though, which has always kept me away from it is the caliber. Both the older L901.0 and the newer L121.1 share almost the same 3/4 plate design, which leaves so little to be seen and which doesn't give me this thrill of excitement I'm looking for. A matter of personal taste and expectations, of course. And a great watch anyway!
Justin - how do you compare this Lange 1 vs your VC American 1921 in terms of wearing versatility, inspiration when wearing it, comfort, and overall value for the cost? I’m considering both watches but having a hard time deciding which one to buy. Thank you
No doubt this is A grail watch. No doubt you will discover ANOTHER grail in the years to come! But you can’t mess with this. I’d take this over a calatrava or patrimony/historiques any day My favourite iteration is the grand Lange with rhodium dial and rose gold case Mamaaa
