Once Im done showing off with my rose gold day date, im definitely trading it for a Lange 1 moonphase + another watch. I think you’re ready for Lange once you’ve “been there done that” with the hyped models. But you’re making a very good point: i dont buy my watches as investment but it makes a difference to know that wearing a rolex is basically a free hobby. If you have a hyped model, you’ll end up selling for what you bought it new or even more
Yep, I completely see that. Anyone spending in the tens of thousands is probably concerned with roi regardless of whether that amount is actually of great significance to them or not. Rose gold day date is a stunner, but I reckon the lange would be more of a personal stunner :)
Bought a Datograph up/down platin yesterday in a Lange store. I have many Rolex, a Patek (5990r) and APs but wanted something only people who are very very deep in the watchgame recognize. If i go on a party with my 5990r or the Platona its often "over the top". So wearing a very rare precious watch "nobody" knows is something very nice for me.

An obvious strategy would be to buy a near-mint, used one with box & papers on the secondary market and let someone else take the loss from new. But I guess if you need to subsequently sell, it would be hard and you would have to be patient to get anywhere close to your money back. And if you sell through a dealer you would take a big loss for sure by having bought retail and having to sell wholesale. Even losing 20% on these types of watches is a big hit in dollar terms. This is an obvious advantage for a watch like a Daytona where the difference between buy & sell on the used market is probably very small because the watch is so liquid due to insane demand.
Also, I disagree that Patek dress watches hold their value better. The perpetual calendars are 20k+ off retail on grey market, and the nautilus/aquanaut effectively can’t be bought at retail. Buying a steel time only sports watch for $120k when it sold for 40k a year ago is far riskier than buying a complicated precious metal watch under retail.
Great discussion. I am, however, one of those people who have viewed Lange as a grail watch/brand, and I've just purchased my first one (1815 Up/Down in WG). I'm sure it won't be my last!
Lange makes 5500 watches per annum, less than 1/10th of Patek's production, and they sell them all... so, of course only a limited number of people can buy Lange. I strongly believe that "collecting is not trading". It's nice to have a comfort feeling of the secondary market value, but at some point your collection will have enough "great market value" Rolex and Patek and etc... timepieces, that you will be ok to buy a watch without thinking about what will be the value next week. When you have the "long term" collecting mindset, you know that if you will need to sell your Lange in 10 or 20 years from now, you will never loose money. Mix your collection with "objective" and "subjective" timepieces, and you'll be fine.
I’m drawn at the absolute pinnacle of watchmaking that this brand represents, and they haven’t been hyped up. It’s because of the steel sports craze and A Lange is mostly dress watches. I love the Saxonia moonphase - perfect symmetry on the dial. Because the hype hasn’t caught on, you can get real discounts on them new from AD’s. Good luck even finding comparable Rolexes right now.
Over at my place (Singapore), Lange no longer distribute through ADs. They are distributing strictly through boutiques, which doesn't give any discounts.
@@xiubinchee7383 yes the same thing happened in my area recently. In the USA the metro New York City area, my local store is no longer an AD…so I’m glad I got my watch at a discount when I could!
I literally just went through this. I could have obtained an up/down or the saxonia thin with aventurine dial at 15% off and I passed. I very much regret it now. They are unbelievable watches.
@@participant990 pay attention Lange is better in every way regardless of value. Rolex and mediocre watches with absolutely the best marketing in the world that’s all.
Congrats! You can’t lose either way. I guess it would purely depend on whether the platinum would make the watch more wearable to you? Or whether you already know the certain occasions that it will be worn and pink gold would suit them better. Personally I would almost always pick a non coloured metal for its discreetness but if that’s the calibre of watch you’re looking at, I’m sure you have plenty of discreet options. Maybe this is one you want to have and wear boldly and sparingly to keep that sense of occasion.
@@StandardTime your absolutely correct, I have other watches that are discreet. If I’m honest I want this to look as good as it is . No point buying A LANGE & SOHNE and hiding it away . I want the watch to shout look at me 🥳
Great video. I am at the stage of collecting where I am selling some Rolex pieces (that have served me well and gained in value), to make way for a Lange. Resale prices are now starting to hold, but to your well made points still stand. This will be a watch to keep so the resale won’t matter. Thanks for making this 🙏👏🥃
Why would I spend money on A. Lange when I can spend $55,000 on a used Daytona AND a Submariner. It should not matter that Rolex produces 1 million watches per year vs. 4-5,000 Lange produces(Patek makes 50,000). The Lange perpetual calendar/chronograph with a tourbillon on the back and power reserve makes the Patek dial, with it's assorted fonts look like a joke. The double assembled movment is unique to. Lange. People that buy Lange don't flip Submariner's on the side. I'll give a kidney and my right nut for $200,000 paid in Lange watches. Great video.
@@StandardTime I don’t exactly know yet. I have a Lange One Time Zone (like you) and this is the first service. It will take about 8 weeks to get a quote and then 12 weeks after that to get it back. There doesn’t seem to be anything seriously wrong it’s just losing about 3 seconds a day.
My favorite as well, but simply out of reach. Sticking to my beautiful Steinhart ;) With regards to selling values, i so dislike people buying up watches to stash them in a vault and sell for profit. I buy watches to wear them.
Steinhart make very high quality stuff for the price. I had one last year, there's a couple videos on the channel. As much as I like watches, they are luxury non-essential products and I can't fault anyone for treating them as a commodity like any other. But naturally it's cool when people still wear them, despite some costing houses :)
Most of the people don’t care about real quality (Langhe & Sohne) but they just care about the status simbol (Rolex etc.). The problem is that they don’t know anything about watches.
That’s unfortunately true in a large percentage of the Rolex community. However a nice way of looking at it is that a Lange wearer is pretty much guaranteed to have in depth knowledge of watches and would likely be a good person to start a conversation with :)
The quality & craftmanship of A. Lange competes with Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and Moritz Grossmann. Compared to these brands, A. Lange is less expensive. Because A. Lange was in East Germany and part of the Russian Bloc, it does not have the history of an AP or PP. What A. Lange needs is a celebrity like John Mayer or Kevin Hart to get the brand more love & hype. Then watch the resale value take off!
Yep! I agree. They’re superb watchmakers. I think they should produce a few more sports watches and focus a little on steel as well and they would be very popular
They don’t make a hyped sports watch, that’s why. Modern Patek dress watches aren’t flying off shelves either (even though my grail is a dress watch..5170/5172). The Datograph is the grail Lange, historically and movement-wise. However, it’s a chunky manual wind dress watch that barely fits under a dress shirt. Oh, and it’s $70k for the black dial...used.
@@tockingwatches2377 the Odysseus is very new and will take numerous iterations to eclipse the most beloved Lange models in popularity. It’s only expensive and unavailable because so few are made. Low demand, even lower supply.
@@golfinguru11 I tried to buy one over a year ago and my AD had a list about 120 deep. Now it’s on allocation to those who at least own one, if not two pieces. That seems like more than low demand.
@@tockingwatches2377 there’s only a waiting list because they produce so few. If they made as few Lange 1s as they did Odysseuses there’s be a deep waiting list for those too. They’re trying to copy the nautilus model but it’s an ugly watch imo and will never be the iconic Lange, despite the price.
I think a few things: -dress watches are cool but limiting. -size: Langes are generally larger complication for complication. The zeitwerk which is amazing is borderline unwearable for small wrists. -investment: when you're spending this much on a watch the investment side of not wanting to deal with depreciation is a concern. Megawealthy people like Kevin o leary stated this as his biggest reason for not going in.
Yep I think you summarized it really well! I think people are willing to tolerate most aspects that identify the watch to be unique except for the depreciation aspect. Naturally the upside to that is to pick one up used at a great price :)
They’re rooted in Germanic tradition and unhyped, like Credor of Japan. And, why do you buy such art for it’s perceived future value. You buy because it’s valuable to you, and not as future investment. I don’t get it why people buy as future investment, if they think that way, they’re not wealthy enough.
A. Lange has very nice watches. They may even be better than Patek. Personally I don't think AP should be in Holy Trinity. In fact A. Lange should be in Holy Trinity along with PP and VC. You know why many people are not pulling the trigger when it comes to buying A. Lange. It is because it is not Swiss made. It is a psychological hurdle. That is why many European watchmakers moved to Switzerland so their watches are Swiss made.
a Rolex seems like a toy watch when sitting next to a Lange. I own both watches, a rose gold oysterflex Daytona & red gold datograph 41mm version, so it’s fair for me to say so 👍🏼 I wear my Rolex on rainy days only because it’s more waterproof. Lange for sure on any other days.
We live in a time of flexing and hype. Lange doesn't fit that bill so a lot of people don't go for them. Also, Lange is all about details (mainly finishes). Thier designs can be a bit (dare I say) boring specially for their entry level pieces. When spending upwards of $10k on a watch, most people will want a bit more eye catching elements to look at. While they are superb watches I guess they can be a bit underwhelming for most people (same as a Credor Eichii II)
I thought it was the same...at 17...but now I am nearly 19 and I know I will need a dress watch like the A Lange und Söhne Saxonia within the next 5 years.😂
42mm is NOT compact for a dress watch by any standard. Diver's watches are 42mm. The standard Lange 1 is 38.5 and the impressive Little Langes are under 37mm - these are compact and have plenty of complications. IMO, the Saxonia Dual Time does a much better job at tracking 2 time zones, much cheaper, automatic convenience, is easier to use, and is just 38.5mm - COMPACT.
I’ll have to get my hands on those to see your perspective, but currently my subjective definition of compact fits the bill because my wrist is 7.3 inches and I really liked the size of this one ☝️. Will have to see how the saxonia wears because I might not like the size as much.
That's because they got rid of their ADs and are boutique only now with no discounts anymore. If they catch you selling one on the secondary market they will cut you off.
@@N101-b8x I own a grand 1 moonphase and eyeing the zw too. They seem to compliment each other as they are so different in design. Many other Langes could be confused with each other by non watch people.
There is people who buy watches every 2-3 years, they resell them etc.. and there is people who buy once and they are done with it.. I like Lange a lot, probably i would never be able to own one.. but i like it's position, price etc.. Why i am saying this, am i nuts or something? lol Well, something must be a reference.. people could like or hate Lange because of this or that.. but we all agree their watches are masterpieces, quality.. design.. art..complexity etc... it's more than just a small box on your wrist which shows you time.. Personaly, i would never buy a watch just to show off to have something expensive.. or i belong to some class or whatever.. i am just freak when comes to complexity of the watch, probably if i have one i would watch how it works 24/7 .. So yeah, there is so many brands which is really good.. just choose what is affordable for you and be happy.. Don't spend a fortune for something and become slave to that material thing and keep that watch in a box all the time, why you bought it then.. I see many people does that.. they wear their expensive watch once or twice just few hours, per year...
Always interesting to see what people do when they have 30-40k to spend. That said because of how much under retail you can get these for, I feel that ends a lot of cost issues. And if you have 40k and you lose 5k....so what? Now that said, plenty of people just won't buy expensive items like this without knowing they'll making money...so what can you do. Still I think at the end of the day people want to stroke their ego and others will know those other brands and that's really where it all stops.
well... i think on this from perspective of other German design products- cars, cameras, HiFi, fire arms... its just too perfect... nice to rolling in mind as ideal, grail, yet not so much buying and using... imho
Lange’s are admired and appreciated for their horological magnificence but I’ve never bought one despite having the funds to do so. At the end of the day, they are just hard to see as usable everyday vs something like a Royal Oak.
@@corner559 I actually agree with you now. Since I wrote this comment I’ve spent a lot of time trying different Royal Oak models on. Before I had only spent limited time with them. They look very dated and too brutalist. I’m leaning towards a VC Overseas now.
Lets get your thoughts on leather straps in the HK market. Thats the real reason any of the dress watches arent doing well, except for FPJ and some Pateks.
@@StandardTime This is a grail watch. In comparison to a Patek or Vacheron, it is much more efficient. The information it displays never is presented in a manner that is ostentatious or overbearing. Länge watches are very well suited to the way most humans behave.
@@charlesshankle3178 Charles, when you say "it is much more efficient", are you talking about the complications being displayed on the dial or something else?
@@dannysimenauer5745 for me, it is the way the information is presented on the dial. That's what makes it more efficient than the others. When I read it, the information I seek is time, date, day and month in that order. The allows me to read this in that manner more efficiently than the others. For other people, it may be/is different. I hope that makes sense.
few people buy it because most people are normal working class with families to feed and an expensive watch generally isn't first on the list. people tend to settle for less, so they go out and buy a 5k Grand Seiko or Omega and call it good. Nothing wrong with that. Doctors opt for the Rolex because let's be honest, they aren't actually watch people but buy because it's recognizable and people know it isn't cheap. which leaves A. Lange & Söhne in a small predicament. I am tempted to follow the route of so many others and compromise my taste. but then I look at an A. Lange & Söhne and am quickly reminded that there is no alternative. I simply won't be happy with any other brand. If I'm ever fortunate enough to pay 60k for an obtainable grail watch from Lange then it's worth every moment waiting.
it is the most exclusive because not many know it really. I live in Germany and visited Glashütte where ALS is produced.....not even the germans know really how exclusive and high in horology is......
There are probably more people buys then than you realize. They're also limited to production capacity which I'd good. And lastly they're dress watches which are not as popular as sports model. Rolex do not sell many Cellini and PP dress watches are not as popular as Nautilus or Aquanaut
But buying a watch for resale value is a very IMHO sad way of looking at the world. It's like people who have a collection of classic Ferrari's and they are never driven. Or people who buy high end whiskey as an investment.. Its a very materialistic one sided view of the world.... I think you buy a Lange when you are in the financial position to spend the money without concern for potential resale value.... The true pleasure is wearing and admiring it..
That is always the case, but nobody is interested in paying multiple tens of thousands on something somewhat frivolous that couldn’t retain value. Most people that have made this much money have an innate understanding of its value.
@@StandardTime Buying something like that is not frivolous, at least not in my mind, nor is it a a status symbol. Its more complex than that. What you are doing when you purchase something of that level is you are helping to keep a very rare skill, that the modern world with its disposal culture, is rapidly forgetting and actually needs. Craftsmanship for its own sake ie art.... I work in IT which is probably the industry with the most rapid transition between state of the the art and state of the ark 😂 and the fact that craftsmanship and quality like this still exists gladdens my soul. That being said a watch is meant to be worn the same as a car is meant to be driven or a beautiful painting is meant to displayed. Basing the purchasing decision on potential resale value alone is missing a lot of the point
It’s like people who buy a brand new 80k BMW knowing it will drop in value by half in the first three years. The delta in resale value has to be offset by the knowledge that you’re getting EXACTLY what you want, and that nothing else will do. And you have to be wealthy.
All wrong in this video. There are only 2 valid reasons why people don't buy Lange in volumes comparable to PP or AP, or Vacheron. 1.) Lange makes only 5000 watches per year. PP makes 60 000. So, you simply can't buy as much Lange watches as you can PP's. 2.) Instagram & Tik-Tok. These 2 had enormous influence on people (with money) regarding watch preferences. Al those 'influencers' without any real horology knowledge and taste are constantly flexing with their Patek's, AP's and Rolexes. That creates hype and (artificial) demand for those brands P.S. To put Lange in the same sentence with Rolex is insult to tradition and high horology of Lange.
This guy has no idea about Lange watches. Plenty of people buy Lange watches and of all the watches in the last year, Lange prices have also stayed stable while the hype stuff has gone down drastically. Can someone who knows more about Lange watches talk about Lange pls?
Yeah definitely it would, I think there isn’t enough hype because Lange doesn’t do marketing well. I don’t think they’ve ever tried to market to a younger and more diverse non European population. I might be completely wrong but I just haven’t seen it at all.
@@StandardTime Well Rolex, Patek and a few others try to limit their output. They basecally try always to sell/produce less, than what the market wants. And the market reacts to that (prices go up). Clever but somewhat digusting tbh, thats why I would ignore those brands. A watch is not an investment for me personally.
If for any reason Lange gets a hype prices would go up like crazy because they produce only a few thousand watches per year and its almost impossible to increase that because everything is handmade.
I always buy deprecated watches on the secondary market. Buy your Lange1 on the grey market and save a ton. The depreciated price holds well. And poor people like me buy Glashutte Original on the grey.
I want a rolex oyster perpetual 41mm because she cost only 6550€ and the lange cost too much money, and i dont like complication, you have to set the watch all the time when the month pass from day 3p to day 1,even an expensive watche pass to 31 even if a month without 31...at this price its insane and silly, reason why i prefer a rolex with no date...
If I buy a watch I buy the watch I like. If I invest I buy stocks. Why should I buy a watch I do not like to much just because it keeps its value? Don`t get it...
It's funny because these things are really cyclical, as well as selective. Cyclical in that there was a time when Patek was nearly dead and couldn't give away its watches, and certainly, the 5711 was not a universally coveted watch. Modern A Lange has only been around since the early 2000's so time will tell if its watches will grab a hold of the watch buyers money and attention. Its also selective in that not all Pateks, Vacheron, and APs gain value, and not all A Langes lose money. The Odysseus is impossible to buy and is very much over retail in the grey. Original Datagraphs from the first year are rising in prices. Similarly, other than 5711, and Aquanauts, not all Pateks rise in price. Same with VC and the Overseas.....really what else. Does AP make anything other than Royal Oaks?
Yep that’s very true. I love the Odysseus but unfortunately, albeit to their benefit so fair enough, Lange has gone to the extremes with supply of it. They’re learning from the best - Patek, AP so soon enough Lange might become unobtainable at retail. Although they hardly make anything non precious metal so that is still a bit of a different ball game. And yeah Ap doesn’t make anything other than the RO but they’ve managed to get the offshore to become a bit of a coveted model as well which I think is impressive. They’ve got enough variations to hold a strong identity and the code watches are slowly starting to do better as well.
Länge is my grail watch. It will come before Patek, etc. It's more exclusive than Patek. The misunderstood and underappreciated aspect about Länge is the design. It's purpose is never lost, compact and elegant without being distracting. This is the German design language.
Dress watches are bargains but cost of ownership ie servicing is v high. Hence don’t see them having value retention which speculators wouldn’t touch. Myself I own a reverso and panomaticlunar glashutte. Bought them because of the appreciation in horology. I can afford to lose glashutte and jlc money when selling, but perhaps not lange
@@StandardTime if i ever made that trade i will get a bb58 for daily wear and keep the lange for special occasion. Even tho i feel i will want to wear it more often 🤣
I got my first Rolex at the age of 25. I thought it will be forever my grail. Now I'm saving for a ref. 201.027 (Saxonia Thin) . Lange is better in every aspect.😁
Ya nowadays people treat watches as commodity and they buy using their head instead of using their heart. Value retention doesn't justify superiority of a watch.
@@StandardTime another point is it depends on the type of watch buyers and ppl u mix, there are ppl who buys and only talks about rolex, ap and pp, its very repetitive in social media, all they talk about is value and investment, talking to them is like talking about investment banking. I drive a classic SL and people ask me why I don't drive a new car. Wear a Lange and people ask why not a Patek. Many people are all about owning things that are recognised as expensive. People buy Langes to impress themselves with zero care for other's recognition.
Yeah that’s a major factor when it comes to the secondary market values I think. The designs on average are slightly muted in comparison to most other haute horology.
ALS on grey market is a fine buy. Primary you take a bath for sure. However. Patek has its models which also wreck you. Any annual calendar will see you take just as much of a bath. Patek also recycles the damn 324 movement like it’s running out of money. Jesus Christ. Plus its finishing isn’t really “woooow!” It’s good. But you see the same base 324 in a 5167… go to a 5205 annual calendar and you see the same damn thing. Yeah it has more complications but you see the origin. Patek are lazy. ALS have designed 75 movements in 30 years. Patek hasn’t done that in 100
Interesting thoughts. Some ALS models seem to be doing really well in the current market. Also apparently they've got quite some waitlist, prerequisite policies now.

I tried to buy the Saxonia Thin with the aventurine dial last week at a boutique, and the boutique is not offering any discounts.
I agree, and I believe Breguet is another one.
Who would buy a Rolex over a Lange?! Not even in the same league as a Lange. Great video though 👌
Because Lange is much more expensive……
Pay attention. Rolex holds its value over Lange
Only the whole world! Why not a Grand Seiko, minus the Third Reich logo? Langhe is ugly in terms of design, very wrong on all levels.
@@participant990 pay attention Lange is better in every way regardless of value. Rolex and mediocre watches with absolutely the best marketing in the world that’s all.
I bought my Rolex Explorer 39mm in 2018 but I don’t think I’d buy another Rolex. I am considering a PP or ALS
Extremely Proud owner of 1815 up/down....love it and will be buried with it...
Don't get buried in it. Pass it on to your offspring. We shouldn't bury every important treasure
Yeah, pass on to someone, it's what Lange would want for their watch.
I put my name down for the datograph in pink gold , still not sure if I should go for the platinum instead, what’s your thoughts
Thanks for making this 🙏👏🥃
Thanks Mark! It's very interesting to see the shift you mention. I would've never thought people would be after Lange the way they are now!
Would be amazing if u maybe could di a video with a watch master so they explain why lange is so expensive and the differences with vc or other brands
I would absolutely love to, don't yet have the access to something like that yet. Maybe sometime in the future!
@@StandardTime where r u based at?
I love my Lange. The only downside is that getting it serviced (from North America) takes many months.
Ah that’s unfortunate! What does a basic service without any special parts replacement run?
@@StandardTime I don’t exactly know yet. I have a Lange One Time Zone (like you) and this is the first service. It will take about 8 weeks to get a quote and then 12 weeks after that to get it back. There doesn’t seem to be anything seriously wrong it’s just losing about 3 seconds a day.
My favorite as well, but simply out of reach. Sticking to my beautiful Steinhart ;)
With regards to selling values, i so dislike people buying up watches to stash them in a vault and sell for profit.
As a owner of a Lange 1 this is my next one
Celebrity hey, that's exactly what Lange don't need. Let's get everyone who can't afford a watch buying Lange.
The Odysseus isn’t hyped? It’s certainly in demands and unavailable.
I think a few things:
-dress watches are cool but limiting.
True and well said :)
And the Chellini
After 1 year, it seems like Lange watches are harder to find now and the secondary market is literally gone. No more bargains anymore...
Yeah it's certainly drying up now!
That's because they got rid of their ADs and are boutique only now with no discounts anymore. If they catch you selling one on the secondary market they will cut you off.
you get so much more in Lange compared to Patek? Are you under influence ??
As a ALS owner, I'd agree with most of that. Nice vid.
Thanks mate, which ALS did you pick?
@@StandardTime 1, Platinum Moonphase.
Eyeballing the Zeitwerk. Honestly, that's the only other watch I'd add.
I like your take. Very sensible and rational :)
Tldr- depends on whether you want to own it forever or sell it someday.
For me the most I 'd spend for a watch is probably for a plain spring drive. I can afford more but I cannot justify it
Always interesting to see what people do when they have 30-40k to spend. That said because of how much under retail you can get these for, I feel that ends a lot of cost issues. And if you have 40k and you lose 5k....so what? Now that said, plenty of people just won't buy expensive items like this without knowing they'll making money...so what can you do. Still I think at the end of the day people want to stroke their ego and others will know those other brands and that's really where it all stops.
this simple phenomenon is called "we have no money to purchase it, but would love to own it"
Yeah but I’m referring to those that end up with the money to purchase it and still purchase something wlse
I love Lange. The simplicity is beauty
well... i think on this from perspective of other German design products- cars, cameras, HiFi, fire arms... its just too perfect... nice to rolling in mind as ideal, grail, yet not so much buying and using... imho
Lange’s are admired and appreciated for their horological magnificence but I’ve never bought one despite having the funds to do so. At the end of the day, they are just hard to see as usable everyday vs something like a Royal Oak.
Royal Oak is hideous. So overrated.
@@corner559 I actually agree with you now. Since I wrote this comment I’ve spent a lot of time trying different Royal Oak models on. Before I had only spent limited time with them. They look very dated and too brutalist. I’m leaning towards a VC Overseas now.

It’s not many Lange models that good for resale and it’s super expensive.
So why not buy on the secondary market and not take that loss?
Lets get your thoughts on leather straps in the HK market. Thats the real reason any of the dress watches arent doing well, except for FPJ and some Pateks.
Very good point. Even Patek seem to underperform on leather…
Länge is absolutely amazing, perfect actually. YOU DON'T ICE A LANGE!! It's perfect as is, needs nothing.

Great work, can you get a discount at the boutiques for say a chronograph?? Buying grey is tricky and I have never done that.
No discount on any Lange, especially not at the Boutique.
Grey dealers can’t even get Lange anymore
few people buy it because most people are normal working class with families to feed and an expensive watch generally isn't first on the list. people tend to settle for less, so they go out and buy a 5k Grand Seiko or Omega and call it good.
Very true! You'd have to really not bother about spending the 60k and simultaneously really love Lange to get one. Very unique position to be in!
it is the most exclusive because not many know it really.
Yep that’s true
This video would make a lot of sense if the secondary market didn’t exist
Back when I made the video, the Lange market was for most pieces below retail. A lot has changed since.
So your saying Lange does not have a Black Panther watch?
Thank God.
This guy has no idea about Lange watches. Plenty of people buy Lange watches and of all the watches in the last year, Lange prices have also stayed stable while the hype stuff has gone down drastically. Can someone who knows more about Lange watches talk about Lange pls?
If more people liking Lange, wouldn’t the value retention go up? So the question is still why there is not enough hype around it
No thanks, it should stay that way, go buy your RM, Royal Oaks, Nautilus and Rolex. We don't need another hype, we prefer niche smaller group :)
Yeah definitely it would, I think there isn’t enough hype because Lange doesn’t do marketing well. I don’t think they’ve ever tried to market to a younger and more diverse non European population. I might be completely wrong but I just haven’t seen it at all.
Haha yeah I would like Lange to remain ‘relatively less expensive’ until I can get to a point where I can afford one. They’re simply brilliant.

Truth is I just want a well built Chronograph , chime, flyback something but I don't have that kind of money
I’m right there with you!
Länge is my grail watch. It will come before Patek, etc. It's more exclusive than Patek. The misunderstood and underappreciated aspect about Länge is the design. It's purpose is never lost, compact and elegant without being distracting. This is the German design language.
Patek is also hard to sell. It BS that Patek and Rolex can always make money….
Relatively speaking, the difference is massive. Didn’t say all Pateks are desirable but on average, far more easy to sell than Lange.
I’ve made money from every Lange I have owned. I don’t sell unless I make money on it.
That’s a really useful insight, makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing mate!
